I bit the bullet and ordered this based on the part number of WSS-2-3. They ARE WSS-2 filters.See bottom of this review for WSS-2 specifications from Water Sentinel.The listing part number is correct, however the listing description is incorrect.

This is not a replacement for the WSF-100, nor is it for use on refrigerators that use an external water filter.

I got these to replace Samsung DA29-0020A/B and they are as advertised by Water Sentinel.

I purchased these to replace DA29-00020B for a Samsung RFG297HDRS French door refrigerator.They are about 60% of the price of the Samsung equivalent.I've had the filter installed for a week and it works great.It installed easily, without leaks.

They are made in USA, unlike Samsung's which are imported.Also, they use compressed charcoal, which I believe is a better filtration method than Samsung's which is a particle filter only.Charcoal filters absorb organic impurities, so the water tastes cleaner.I can't comment on the 6 month life expectancy yet.The instructions note to run 3 gallons of water before using, or until the water runs clear, but in my case the water was clear from the start (I still ran a gallon through it).

I have a Sam Sung model RF4287HARS and the filter works although not perfectly.As another reviewer pointed out, the diameter of this filter is slightly smaller than the original filter.Therefore the filter floats within the mounting area.The mounting end (gasket and mount) are identical so it does lock and seal perfectly.I cannot detect any difference in the taste/quality of the filtered water so if you can sacrifice perfect fit for equal performance then this one's for you.

This review is to point out an important fact:This filter ONLY removes/improves taste and odor, and removes some particulate matter (like rust or other small debris).Therefore, it is not a equal replacement for the Samsung Aqua-Pure DA29-00020B that ALSO reduces the following contaminants: 99.00pct of Asbestos 96.70pct of Benzene 97.40pct of Chlorine Taste & Odor 99.99pct of Cysts 99.30pct of Lead at pH 6.5 99.90pct of Lead at pH 8.5 98.00pct of Particulates (Class I) 99.10pct of Turbidity 94.60pct of Atrazine 99.00pct of Lindane Fluoride is not reduced.

If you are here for a water filter that is a cheap alternative for certain Samsung refrigerators, well, you've come to the right place. I have not noticed the difference between these and actual Samsung water filters. And my wallet thanked me... personally... with a rather ornate letter... that was written in iambic pentameter... which is pretty impressive for a water filter.

There are evidently two sizes of these just one number apart. The one I ordered turned out to be the 6" wide heaters and I needed the 9" wide heaters. So I am returning this one and ordering the right one. If the description had specified the width of the heaters I could have avoided the mistake. It was not mentioned that there are two sizes if these and they look alike in the picture. The description should warn people to measure their heaters before ordering. Now I get to schlep it to the post office and pay shipping again to return it.

This combo unit is a thermostat along with two glass radiant defrost heaters. Upon initial installation and operation, as it was in my case, it may seem as if the heaters are extremely hot. I believe this happened because my defrost timer was in or near the defrost position when I first turned on the refrigerator after installing the new parts. FYI: The defrost timer operates in 16 Hours ON/cooling 30-35 Minutes OFF/Defrost cycles. So, if your refrigerator compressor does not begin to function after 35 minutes, you may also (or only) need a new defrost timer. Anyway, after the 24 hour stabilization period, my refrigerator and freezer are working great maintaining perfect cooling (≈33°F) and freezing (≈-10°F) temperatures...Best that I can remember even before needing to replace the thermostat/heaters. Plus, the compressor doesn't seem to turn on/stay on as often as before.

After removing the old defrost heaters, I could easily see they were burnt-out...From visual appearance/inspection, I believe one heater was burnt-out for quite a while before the second one finally ceased. This was probably why, for quite some time, my compressor was going on more often and longer although the refrigerator/freezer seemed to be working fine. Now, both my refrigerator and freezer compartments are much better consistently cooled/frozen.

Overall, I am happy with this solution and expect to get another 15+ years use from my refrigerator.

Other Info:

I recommend completely (manually) defrosting your refrigerator before installing this kit...you'll get much better immediate and efficient results. Also, you may need some other low-cost item/sensor such as a defrost timer or refrigerator temperature sensor...even a main board is usually less than $100.00 and all worth it if your fridge is still in good shape otherwise.

Our refrigerator/freezer is 16 years old made by GE. We found in August'12 that it stopped cooling properly. Troubleshooted that the defrost heater was broken. Purchased part GE WR51X442 and replaced the old with new one about a month ago. Our refrigerator has been cooling fine since then. Thank Google and Amazon.com.

Does the job-could be better with a rubber gasket at the top.Inexpensive.A good choice for those with water sources with a lot of sediment and that require frequent changing.

The filters are an exact replacement for GE MWF water filters. They fit my GE fridge without problem and actually last twice as long as the much more expensive GE or Brita filters. Very satisfied with these for 2.5 years now. Highly recommend.

Is exactly the same thing as the original. Yet the cost is so low. I bought a twelve pack. It is well worth it.

No need to buy the name brand.Im on my 6th water sentinel filter and never had a problem that I didnt cuase.Only thing to watch is sometimes the red "O" ring stays in the fridge unit from used filter.If you try to put new filter on, it will leak with two "O" rings inside.But that would happen with name brand also.Water taste GREAT!!!

I ordered these for a family member and have not yet installed one. They look just like the GE cartridge but are much better priced. I bought these to try out after reading several positive reviews.

These are a good, lower cost version of the G.E. Refrigerator water filters which cost at least $39.95 each. We live in the Country, with a well that has more sediment than city water, and this filter does the job for about half the cost. We have to replace the filter every 1.5 to 2 months, so the savings really add up over a year.

Got the GX5SHDXV model, similar to the one shown, about a week ago. It was originally $1298 at Lowes, but the floor model had paint scratches, so they marked it down to $1k. Lowes delivered it (an adventure in itself) but I installed it and set it up. So far so good, it's quiet, makes lots of ice quickly, and has the Energy Star qualification that should save $$ on my electric bill.

There is only one gallon storage shelf in the door; I wrote Whirlpool to send me another to replace the can dispenser shelf that I won't use.

The refrigerator drawers slide nicely, as does the freezer compartment drawer.

The paint finish is very good, once I cleaned off all the tape residue from Lowes (why do they do that?) I used auto detailing spray to make it shine.

I've had my fridge for about 1 month now, and so far it's been working fine.It looks pretty and all, BUT I have to say that I am not very happy with the storage capacity of this fridge.The door bins are curved, so you can fit VERY FEW items in one bin.You can't fit many tall things (i.e. wine bottles after they've been opened) if you have some other things there like milk and/or juice.The coke can dispenser is nice IF YOU DRINK FROM CANS!We don't and there's no way to change out that bin.It's just that my older Kenmore fridge (much cheaper) had a LOT more storage than this one.Too many curves in this model, which really brings down storage capacity. To be honest, the double doors is a pain, too.I'd rather go back to one door.

This was the one item that I did not look at carefully when buying my kitchen appliances. I would certainly not buy it again or recommend it.

After 2 years and 2 months we have had to replace the control panel twice (replacement panel was faulty and was replaced at no charge by the appliance repair). Other issues throughout the past 2 years include broken door shelves (we replaced), cheap plastic cheese bin on the very bottom of the fridge is precarious and comes loose, and the rubber gasket around the door is flaking off. We imagine it will need to be replaced within the year. I think this fridge is poorly made and would not recommend it to anyone. Our previous fridge was an Amana with a bottom freezer that was a much better quality. We did quite a bit of research before we purchased this expensive appliance and are very disappointed with it's performance.

Requested that Whirlpool reimburse us for the $240 bill to repair (fridge cost $1500+) but they were not interested in backing their "quality" product.

finally had it delivered and i love its looks. I LOVE all the space in my fridge compared to the side by side it seems deeper too. It does not make any more noise than my7 yr old fridgidaire that broke (yes problems after only 7 yrs) Love the sliding freezer drawer...only one minus, I would assume it came with the water dispenser but it doesn't. Glad I really didn't use one or I would have been very disappointed that I didnt research it further

Other than that, sharp looking fridge, cooled soon after turning on and started making ice in 2-3 hours

When I received my item, I expected it to be very heavy but I was able to carry it from the UPS truck to my room. It doesn't take much power, and when I first plugged it in, it took only an hour to fully cool down. The freezer freezes ONLY in the freezer, and the racks are all stable. It's a very good item that I suggest to anyone looking for a mini fridge.

Taking into consideration what you are buying, this product meets my expectations.I bought it to replace a Black & Decker unit that failed after a year.The Haier does not have a light of any type which was an advantage on the B&D. In my experience if you try to keep frozen food in that compartment the setting must be so low as to freeze food in the refrigerator.That said, I'm using it as an "office" refrigerator and it works fine.

Pros:

gets very cold

freezer is a good size

freezer freezes, as well as the refrigerator depending on the coldness setting.

top shelf is deep and goes all the way to the back of the refrigerator

adjusting feet for unbalanced surfaces

quiet

the cooling component look like quality,

and should last a long time just like my other Haier appliances.

Cons:

door shelves are nothing special, and you have to be careful

to open the door slowly so the items don't fall

bottom shelf is shallow

I prefer the blower type of compact refrigerators.

cannot fit a lot of taller wider objects inside

the top was very warm to the touch, but I am not sure why yet.

Update-I haven't experiences this since the initial experience of plugging this in.

I'll keep you updated if it fails or the experience remains positive.

I bought this solely on the name, since I've had good experiences with Haier appliances in the past, and none of them have failed yet.

Update January 16, 2012: I have a short container that I wanted to fit on the bottom shelf, but wouldn't fit. I had to remove the side door bar that is supposed to hold the door items in place. I really never had any use for the side door, so I now have more space on the bottom shelf. The metal bar is easily removed and easily replaced.

I now have fixed a major concern I had with the shallow bottom shelf. This may be a problem for those that want to store liter bottles though.

With all my qualms regarding the interior space, this refrigerator/freezer is ICE cold, and is so quiet that it's almost silent. I do use the freezer as well as the refrigerator. In the morning, I bring in cans of drinks at room temperature, and by lunch time the drink has a few ice crystals, and if I leave the cans in for 3 or more hours the drink is completely frozen.

My Husband bought this fridge( red one) for me for work. It worked great for almost a year and then it inexplicably died. It was still under warranty so I contact Haier to replace it in October. I am yet to receive the replacement(it is 12/14) and have spent over 20 dollars in shipping them useless paperwork. They keep giving me the run around and saying it will be taken care of but they never call me back, despite guaranteeing they will. Customer service people are polite but have no information and can provide no help... other than empty promises of calling me back.

Save your money and buy from a RELIABLE company!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE: A new fridge has arrived at my doorstep. Thank You Haier for finally taking care of my request. I wish my being patient and polite had been as effective as my being irate and fed up!

I use this in my office, and I couldn't be much happier with it.It was inexpensive, and it performs far above my expectations.It is very quiet and seems to be efficient (runs for a short time and shuts off for a long time).There is plenty of space inside much more usable space than a conventional dorm-style mini fridge for not much more money.The door has a convenient holder for cans of soda, and the shelves are easily adjustable.

We upgraded from a 1.7 cubic foot Haier fridge that was several years old and giving us temperature control issues, freezing everything over and building up so much ice that the door wouldn't close.I was ready to go "Office Space" on its a#$ and take it into a field somewhere and beat it into little pieces.

After a lot of shopping around, we finally decided on this Danby for the upgrade.

First let me say that we purchased from an appliance store, not from Amazon, so did not have any of the shipping issues that some people have had.

However, I wanted to contribute my positive review, as I think the product deserves a few more.

Compared to the 1.7 cu ft. fridge, this is utterly roomy and delightful.I was pleased with how much I could fit in here.

It's a functional mini fridge that is silent, except when the compressor kicks in (which is every 30 minutes or so, or after the door has been open for a few minutes) and only runs for a little while.The compressor creates a low-frequency hum that is noticeable but not at all loud or obnoxious.Some noise is to be expected from an appliance, unless you're in the super-high-end ($$$) market, and, in my opinion, this is relatively quiet.

The adjustable shelves inside are glass, not wire, and seem sturdy and well-made.Maybe could have used one extra shelf, but not a big deal.There is a nice spot in the door where you can fit a bottle of wine, a big tray underneath the freezer box for collecting water during defrosting, a temperature adjust knob (which we left at the factory setting and has been perfect so far), a nice freezer (not tall enough to fit a pint of ice cream, but works for us), and it comes with a little ice cube tray...

The #1 problem we were having with the last fridge the freezer has not been an issue with this one.

Ice cubes freeze up in a reasonable amount of time, and things on the refrigerator shelf DIRECTLY below the freezer box do not get frozen.Can I get an amen.

The one reason we ALMOST didn't buy this fridge was that a good chunk of the door space is taken up by a soda can storage system we don't drink soda and were annoyed that this was going to be wasted space.However, we've found ways to make use of it.Because they are compartments for separate soda cans and not one big long "chute" where they are stacked and dispensed, you can stick things in the slots like apples, oranges, even bottles of beer.

The black finish is handsome and clean, the door is reversible, there is one touch automatic defrost overall, it's about as classy as you're going to get for a mini fridge in this price range.

We are VERY happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

Not buying this brand again. I bought a different (older) Vinotemp 32 bottle fridge. It broke after one year (one side didn't work). Really had to get it fixed, customer service atrocious, and if you've ever had to hire an electrician that will fix a wine fridge, you know that it's not worth it (expensive and very very time consuming).

To top it off, they are pricey. In this price, go for a Maytag or other better known brand. Or spend less and get a Haier. Can't be any worse.

Was excited to receive this cooler as a birthday gift, but it quickly turned into a nightmare.

The temps do not adjust as the manual states, white wine only gets to slightly below room temp.;I wound up calling customer service at vinotemp only to be told to leave a voicemail for someone to call me back, I left several messages, no one called me back; I finally had to insist to speak with someone and when i did get a person, they read off an entirely different manual than the one that came with the cooler and was ready to argue with me than assist me.

I returned the wine cooler and would not recommend this brand to anyone.

We wanted to get rid of our old ugly trash compactor. This unit fits perfectly in the space of a trash compactor. The only thing we had to do was remove the feet, then it slid right in.

It looks fantastic! I hope it doesn't burn out in 18 months like I have read about some of the other vino temp products.

It runs a lot. I'm hoping it doesn't run our electric bill up. It only goes down to 45 degrees. That may be as cold as one is supposed to drink wine, but we would really like it a little cooler.

Wine gets hot really fast in Texas.

The best thing about this unit is the way it looks. Matches our Samsung appliances perfectly with stainless steel front and blue lights.

First, this is the same model as VT-32 wine fridge just different shelves.

I did a lot of research when looking for a wine fridge. I needed a specific width to fit in my kitchen, and wanted to stay within a reasonable budget. Well, now I wish I trusted the reviews about this model who warn you that it is super loud. My dishwasher is quieter than this monster! When it turns on I can hear it from my bedroom on another floor!

In addition, the temperature fluctuates a lot (+/5 degrees from what you set it on), which I don't care about much since I don't store expensive wines. But if you do this is something to consider.

Hi, I own two of these. One for my rental property and the other for my house. I bought the first one 3-4 years ago for the rental apartment and knock on wood, haven't had problems with it yet. It was the only one I could find small enough for the property, which is a studio apartment. So, I bought one to use in my house. I'm an avid cook so the refrigerator always is full of ingredients. Even as my only fridge, I find its size adequate for me a single person. This has been a very good value for its style and quality.
