This seems to be an attractive and useful fridge, but it arrived in the worst possible packing imaginable for something like this:there was *no* space between the box and the fridge inside, and no packing materials to cushion against shipping damage.In other words, any blows to the box are blows to the fridge.As you can imagine shipping something of this size, some rough handling is guaranteed.

Ours arrived with two really huge dents.Luckily the dents do not impact operation so we probably won't mess with the hassle of a return.But be aware that getting a unit shipped to you in perfect condition seems really unlikely with this brain-dead packing.

This product will show up on your doorstep damaged, guaranteed! I ordered one and it arrived damaged due to the lack of packaging. I returned it and it was replaced with another damaged one. I returned this one also, only to receive a third damaged unit. At that point I returned the third one for a refund. I contacted the manufacturer, (I was on hold for about half an hour) who couldn't care less! If you want to waste your time...order this fridge from Haier.

this fridge it a bit too big and bulky, I should have gone with a small size since I am using it for my office.

The fridge arrived pretty banged up.There were a couple of dents in it and it wouldn't stand up straight until I straightened out a metal piece on the bottom.

AVOID THIS COMPANY!! My unit arrived broken. Haier customer service was rude & obnoxious. They were completely unapologetic & seemed to go out of their way to be UNHELPFUL. When I finally bullied them into action, they wanted a full week to send out a service man who may or may not have been able to fix it. I spoke to both customer service and corporate, both were extremely rude and entirely useless. What's more, neither one had the decency to so much as apologize. NEVER AGAIN.

This was every internet buyer's nightmare!

I think that the reviewers of this fridge are a bit too hard on the product reviews.I agree that the product packaging is terrible and needs improvement, but that doesn't mean that the product itself is bad.

I received this item recently and there were a couple of VERY tiny dents on the side.So tiny, in fact, that I didn't see them at first until I looked at the fridge at a certain angle in the light.Other than that, it was in perfect condition.I subtracted a star because of the poor packaging.There is no styrofoam protection and no space between the outer chrdboard and the fridge itself.I believe this contributes to the damage some people are reporting.For me, however, the damage was negligible.

That issue aside, thie fridge works GREAT!It cooled down quickly and is nearly silent.Compare this to my previous thermoelectric fridge, which had a loud fan running constantly.I have this fridge under my desk in the office and it is great in terms of noise.

This morning, I discovered something new.I heard a loud noise of cans moving around.I discovered that one of the soda cans had frozen solid and the bottom of the can had expanded.Luckily the can itself did not burst.I had the fridge on its maximum setting, but clearly that is too cold.So, now I haveturned it down two notches and we'll see if that works better.So, one could say that the product works TOO WELL.On the maximum setting, it is cold enough to freeze items in the fridge compartment!

All told, I am very happy with this product so far!

I don't know what you guys consider noisy, but thankfully I didn't take the advice of the two other reviews here (unless it gets louder as time passes?) The refrigerator isn't loud at all and I'm highly anal when it comes to things like this.

The door handles do have a point on them, but you will never feel it or know its there unless you run your hand around the "corner" of the handle which you will never do.

The one thing that is a tad annoying is the first shelf needs to be lowered to make room for orange juice to fit, thus making the second shelf only useable for items like yogurt, butter or something else not very tall. With that said, there is plenty of storage in the door which you could use instead of the top shelf. The bottom shelf is very roomy.

The refrigerator offers plenty of room to store cans, condiments and it has a huge drawer for cold cuts, packs of shredded cheese or whatever else you would store with deli meats.

The one thing I don't like is that the two vegetable drawers are not that deep. This seems to be a common problem on most refrigerators in this price range or lower because the compressors are on the lower part of the fridge thus taking away some space in the bottom drawers. I noticed this in any brand refrigerator I looked at in this price point.

My older refrigerator which was cheaper than this didn't have that problem.I guess they are made differently these days.

Nevertheless, I'm very happy with this purchase as I put a lot of research into the refrigerator and was hoping I made the correct decision.

According to consumer reports Whirlpool as a low repair rate which is good. However, they didn't rate this refrigerator very high. I don't know why, it isn't difficult to use as CI gave it a neutral rating for.

Did I mention it gets coooooooold. I set it at the next to coldest setting and its down to 30 degrees on the inside. I'm going to obviously correct the setting as that is a tad too cold. at least it has the ability to get cold unlike my old refrigerator.

The refrigerator does not have separate temp controls for the freezer and fridge which threw me off at first. However, I have a professional grade thermometer and it apparently doesn't make a different as the freezer is more than at the proper temperature. The

I've only had this unit (WRT359SFYW) for a few days, so I can't comment with much experience on how it works in day-to-day use.So far it's keeping my frozen stuff frozen and my cold stuff cold, so two stars for that.And it's not expensive.

The biggest drawback is that this fridge is quite loud.I know that excessive noise is a common complaint with modern refrigerators, and I have no way to directly compare the noise from this model from others.But this model is noticeably louder than the cheap 2002 Frigidaire it replaced, which was not exactly quiet in it's own right.With my open floorplan house (kitchen/dining area open to the living room) the noise from this fridge is very noticeable in the living room, 30 feet away.In the dining area, the noise dominates the room.The manufacturers have got to figure out ways to muffle these things.I'd return it in a second if I had a reliable way to find a quiet model, but I'm afraid they will just tell me "they're all like that".

In the refrigeration section, the shelves are too close together to hold tall items, even at maximum spacing.This is also a common issue with many top freezer refrigerators I look at--the whole refrigeration section is just too short in height.It would be better if this fridge was taller or wider and was not as deep, as space way in the back is hard to use, but more height is always welcome.This unit is so deep it doesn't fit too well in the standard-size fridge bay in my home.

I'll also note that many models in this price range include an icemaker as standard, where this one does not.Also, this model does not have separate temperature controls for the freezer section and the refrigeration section.And a one-year warranty?These are supposed to be "durable goods".It seems like many manufacturers have cut production cost and quality on refrigerators to the absolute bare minimum.

Edit/Update: I've had this unit for three months now.When it was delivered, it was not quite centered in my kitchen's refrigerator nook, but I didn't care enough to try to reposition it until now.Tonight I gently pulled the unit out and moved it back so it would be centered.As I'm rolling it back into position I hear a "snap" and the fridge lurches to one side.One of the rear wheels has broken or collapsed.Seriously?

I thought this fridge would be great when I got it--energy efficient, roomy, good for the space. And then I tried to switch the side the door opened on. This should be a simple process, but it wasn't with this thing--the screws were hard to reach, the plugs to cover holes were so flimsy they fell apart and couldn't be used on the other side, the freaking Whirlpool logo scratched the paint when it came off, etc.

All of this wouldn't be more than a nuisance, except that the screws themselves were very soft. As a result, I radished out a screw head the very first time, using--get this--a hand tool. That's pretty bad. The screw couldn't be removed after that, so I cut off the head and replaced the door minus one screw, figuring it wouldn't matter.

Of course it mattered--it mattered because the hinges are made with open holes for the screws. What, did they save $.0000002 on the cost of the metal by doing that? So, yes, the door fell off, the shelves broke--I've had this thing maybe two months, and it looks like it's been through a war. This was very disappointing, and I don't intend to buy Whirlpool again.

My refrigerator has an ice maker, but no built-in filter.For years, I had been buying the snap in in-line type, but the prices have been creeping up and the availability has been diminishing.

This Culligan model has them beat. The price is good, it's easy to install, and very easy to replace cartridges. If you have an existing plastic water line, installation is trivial. This also works with copper lines, and is not much more difficult to use with them, except the instructions are not clear. The outside box says you can use either copper or plastic, but the included instructions don't mention the copper, or the additional tools needed to file the edge as the outside box mentions. Despite this, installation is trivial enough that it's not likely to be an issue.

If you do have copper, and need to fit things in a tight space, you might need to replace one end of the tube with plastic since short lengths of copper are relatively inflexible.

I also got one for my instant hot water tap on my kitchen sink. It's not "specially designed" for it as are the ones that are recommended for those, but they all take the same size tubes and have cold water coming in and going out. This one is far cheaper, does everything I want to make the water taste good, and there are enough Culligan options for anybody who wants a different level of filtration that you can pick what you need.

UPDATE:

Two years later, I removed it. It was not that there was any problem, but I installed a whole house filtration system and it was no longer needed. That showed me two things: First, the taste of the water did not change, meaning the Culligan worked just as well for me as the far more expensive system, at least with respect to taste. Second, it had been slowing down the flow of water on my instant hot water dispenser. The flow was noticeably faster without it, but I would not consider the slow down an inconvenience at least with respect to filling glasses or cups. Filling a pot of water is a different story, but the difference is understandable and what should be expected with this type of filter.

My fridge had an ice maker in it for nearly a year before I used it because I kept forgetting to buy a filter, I had to have someway to support it and have it not behind, but beside the fridge (the fridge sticks out too far as it is) This filter is the perfect answer. It was insanely easy to install, hasn't leaked a bit, is easy to replace the filters (just twist out the old and twist in the new) and the water tastes GREAT! I filter all my drinking water so putting unfiltered (ie disgusting) ice in my water or tea was out of the question! I love this filter and I love my ice maker! (the price on this is great, too!)

The co. needs to provide much better connections to water supply and refrigerator; too easy for connections to fail.After installation, with no sign of any leakage, the ref. connection failed (came apart) during the night causing considerable water damage to the dining room/kitchen floor and basement.Do not recommend this product.

I was very hopeful about this product, but I had a very hard time with the install. It is a relatively 'easy' install, but the problem is that it leaks once connected. I tried to install with plastic ice maker connection tubing but once I turned the water back on, strong leaks developed at the point where the tubing connected with the filter. So then I tried with my original copper tubing, cutting it to try the install. No dice, same leaks at connection points.

Attempting to install this product ended up costing me $26.

I replaced the copper tubing with a stainless steel connection like this, for a much more secure connection:

I installed the Culligan IC-EZ-1 after my wife complained about our ice tasting and smelling bad.It was super easy to install.You can use copper or plastic tube with the filter.I had copper line running to the fridge.No leaks after the copper line ends were inserted.Filter is really easy to remove and change.One thing to consider before buying is placement.It will project out from the mounting wall by 5" or so.You may need to route the copper through an adjacent cupboard and mount the filter in there, then route the outflow back to the fridge.

I got it shipped Prime (I am an Amazon Mom member) and it arrived on schedule, in perfect condition.I did move the door so that it opens right to left (because of the limited space I have to place it) and that was relatively easy to do.There were no dents, and I do not have any problems with the motor sound.I was careful to read all directions and note that it cautions you not to plug it in for 24 hours if it was tilted more than 45 degrees in transport (mine was) and also to start it on Level 4 for 24 hours before you choose a setting at which to leave it.Perhaps the other reviewers did not note that in the directions and stressed the motor before it got a chance to become operational.It is spacious, looks nice and clean, and meets my needs.It was a great product for the price.If it develops any problems later, I will update my review.

This little fridge deserves a review, so I am stepping in on its behalf. This fridge has worked fine for a few months now. I doubt it will ever freeze anything but I only use it to keep drinks cold on the outside deck anyway.

I took off one star because one of the components in the back had a dent in it on delivery. Who knows if that will become important at some point.... and because I wish it would get a little colder. On the other hand I like it so much I may get another and stack them.

Update almost a year later (August 2011). It made it through a hot summer outside and kept all my drinks nice and cold. So I changed the rating to 5 stars because it deserves it.

Update almost 2 years later (July 2012).Still working great! Outside. It was 100 degrees this week. Took a soda can out and it was fine.

First, the back of the fridge where the compressor is located is completely open without a back. Second, I had the thing for 3 days and it started making a noise like someone that was snoring. One week later, it made another noise, on top of the original noise that sounded like waves rolling in and out. Then 2 weeks later, a third noise like a buzz saw...it was a symphony of noise. Not to mention when it clicked off...it made a loud "CLINK". This refrigerator is inexpensive, but it is NOT worth it at all. It got so loud that I had to move it to another room, I am returning it, luckily all of this happened within the 30 days of purchase.

These filters do fit my Samsung french door unti. They replace the more expensive Samsung units. However the knob is not the same size as teh Samsung unit so it does not fit tightly in the hole for the filter. It leaves a 1/4 to 3/8 inch gap all the way around the filter. Thee filter is in a fairly promenint location in the fridge so this is a little troublesome. I wil use the two I purchased, but I will likely buy samsung models from now on just to have a factory finish in my $3,000 fridge.

I had a Kitchen Aid countertop wine cooler which lasted less than one year. After researching all of the top selling 8+ bottle countertop versions, I purchased the Vinotemp from Costco. It lasted 18 months and stopped chilling. Since I regularly cleaned the fan and vent; I contacted Vinotemp. As the previous review states, they recommended purchasing a new control board. I spent $45 for the board including shipping and installed only to have the entire unit fail to reach any temperature below 79 degrees. It is my understanding that countertop coolers typically last 12-24 months due to the built-in obsolescence of the cooling units. I would not buy this size again and suggest investing in the built-in.

It will work reasonably well for about 4 months to a year or so and then it will break and the company will do nothing to help you fix it, except offer to sell you an expensive replacement board that is just as defective as the one that just broke. Do a bit of research and do not buy this. I've had two of them after being able to return my first to Costco for a replacement. Second broke just like the first did. If you insist on buying this, you will be replacing it every year.

Received this wine cooler as a wedding gift within 2 years had same issues as others report and when contacted the company all they said was "you need to buy a replacement control board" and "we cannot guarantee this will solve the problem" which with shipping costs $45. I could purchase a better, more reliable unit for just over $100 and seems silly to replace a control board that is likely to once again break. I do not recommend this product.

I've had this for a few years now, didn't get it from Amazon but still felt compelled to write a review.

Like everyone else, my unit died on me about two years after I purchased it. I looked into options about fixing it and a new controller board (~$40) was one of them. However, on closer inspection of the controller board, it looked like one of the capacitors was busted (the end of it bubbles out). A little solder work and a new capacitor (~$2 total) and it was working as good as new! I've had it for a year and a half since then with no issues.

If you feel up to the task of fixing the unit and want to get it cheap, look for a broken one on craigslist.

Control board went bad. Called Vinotemp and purchased a replacement control board for $47 plus $15 for shipping (shipping is over priced). Replaced board and unit worked fine again for just over 30 days. Called Vinotemp again and they said there is no warranty on the control boards. Not worth trying to fix again. I bought this fridge about 2 years ago. I've had none of the issues that the other reviewer spoke of. I will hazard to say the review was from a competitor.

If a consumer has such fundamental issues with an item so early on, why didn't he get it fixed/replaced/rectified under the warranty?

The guy just goes on and on about how bad it was, suggesting customer service just blew him off, never specifying what had to be done or whether it was one.

It is a classic false complaint generated by competitors to disparage a decent product.

At any rate, I love this fridge...it looks beautiful and works as quietly and efficiently as has been advertised.

And no, I don't work for Whirlpool, nor does anyone I know.

Purchased the Gold Series Whirlpool bottom freezer model 18 months ago and have had nothing but problems with both the unit and customer service. Seems like there is a design flaw with this because the bottom of freezer continues to build up with ice and then starts to leak on the floor. This seems to cause odors with the ice as well. I have defrosted, de-iced, and cleaned the drain multiple times but the issue reoccurs. Whirlpool customer service is very poor they behave like they are trying to limit exposure and damage related to a flaw. I would advise anyone NOT to buy this or any other Whirlpool product. If you doubt this review Google the issue and you will find many similar experiences, If you buy this model be prepared to constantly be breaking up sheets of ice from the freezer bottom and mopping up puddles from your floor!
