I have an Amana refrigerator.Have been buying the Amana brand filters for 10 years.Decided to give the Water Sentinel brand a try.They simply don't fit.I'm incredibly disappointed because the box has the replacement model number (WF401) right on it.No go.

The design of the product was not the same as the one it was to replace that I have received before.The one received would not fit into the receiving ring on the refrigerator as it was too large.I had to pay return postage for a product that was not compatible and I feel that the company should had offered free postage for a product that was not the same specifications.

These filters are a recent answer to the expense of replacement filters, and they are NOT the answer.My Kenmore takes filter #46-9014, a number clearly marked on the package of the Water Sentinel.And it does not fit.I trued screwing it in for 15 minutes, finally got what I thought was the "sweet spot", and then screwed it in.Upon trying to get water out of the fridge, water sprayed everywhere and did not come out of the spigot.Bad product.

I purchase these to try because I was tired of paying $50.0 for (1) Amana name brand filter. I bought two of these for less than $30.00. It fit fine and the water tastes as good as the Amana brand filter.

On this site it says they are tested for ANSI/NSF 42 AND 53, however, when I received the filters, the box only claims tested for standard 42. This is important because standard 53 is for the reduction of Lead, Mercury, Benzene, p-Dichlorobenzene,Toxaphene and Carbofuran. You might not have these elements in your water, but you should know what you're paying for!

I sent the following message to Water Sentinel on 11/30/10 and have not received a response as of 12/16/10. Will sell my "inventory" at a steep discount! :)

The other afternoon the water filter in my KitchenAid refrigerator blew up for no apparent reason. See attached photo. Fortunately I was nearby and able to shut off the water quickly and avoid any major damage, but if I was at work and it pumped water into my house for even a few hours, or traveling for two weeks at a time it could have easily done tens of thousands of damage to my home. I now have four filters left from a six-pack that was purchased recently. Are these filters any good, or should they be tossed and replaced with something of better quality? What suggestions do you have for avoiding this problem in the future, or do we have to shut off the water every time we leave the house?

I have a WSW-1 and the end blew off and started shooting water out the front of the refrigerator and all over the floor.Fortunately we were in the next room when it happened.If we had been away it could have caused thousands of dollars of water damage.In the future I will spend a little more money and get the Kenmore brand filters.

I have used this exact filter for several years in our kenmore frig. easy to change and has never exploded or leaked for me. After reading other reviews, I was worried about others having leakage problems, but I still continue to buy and use them, with no issues.

Also, I agree with the review back in 2010, which said that this is a "taste-removing ONLY" filter (NSF 42 tested). Even though the Amazon ad continues to state that this filter is BOTH NSF 42 and 53 tested... my latest order in March 2012 showed only NSF#42 on the box.

This filter is not a direct replacement for the Whirlpool filter.It is not NSF rated, and has only one filtration element, not the three in the factory filter.They should have made this clear that it was not a replacement, but a less-effective substitute. Perhaps I should have realized this given the price was much less than a true replacement.

We bought this little fridge to use on our little boat.My husband installed it under the counter and we just prayed it would do the job, well it did.It keeps everything nice and cold even though it's out in the hot sun. I don't mean slightly cold its really cold.Even when we unplug the boat to go out for the day the items in the fridge are still cold when we come back 2-3 hours later. Of course we take a cooler for drinks with us so we don't have to keep opening it all the time but even so to stay cold on a hot day is great!I highly recommend this Magic Chef it definitley fit the bill for us.

I purchased this fridge for my office. It is small, quiet, and very cold. I recommend it for anyone who needs a small little appliance.

On the down side, if you want to store a lot of stuff, this isn't the fridge for you.

I got this fridge when it was $100 two weeks ago. It cooled very quickly when I first set it up, took only about 1 hour compared to the 24-hour warm-up period of most fridges. It gives out this rumble, not discernible partly because I keep it behind the closet door.
