This is a great air purifier. I've been using this for a few months and I'm very impressed by the build quality and functions. I only use the Sterilize (UV Light) function regularly, which outputs very little ozone. I only use the Ozone feature whenever I need to get rid of strong cooking odors that normally take a day or two to get rid of. Too much ozone can be damaging to furniture, plastic, ect (learned the hard way) so I limit its use as much as possible.

Also, I replaced the Pre-Filter that came with the unit with an Activated Carbon filter and it makes a huge difference removing odors in the air. The case/holder for the black pre-filter comes apart by releasing several clips that hold the two halves together. I used my fingernails and pulled downwards. The clips are attached the center piece which latches to the outside bezel (you need to pull down/inwards on the center piece).

UPDATE 6/5/12

I've had zero issues with this unit since I purchased this back in '10. I've literally ran this non-stop for almost two years with the UV Light function ON and surprisingly, non of the UV Lamps or ozone plate have failed...yet. I've replaced the HEPA filter a couple of times and I regularly replace the pre-filter every month to two months using bulk activated carbon filter which I cut to fit the unit.

As I mentioned in my original post, this is a very well built, solid unit. If I ever need another unit, I will not hesitate in purchasing another one.

October 10, 2010. After using for several weeks now, have to downgrade to three (3) stars, as second hand smoke from neighbors below is not being handled at all, which is the purpose for which I made this purchase. If you need to remove household or cooking odors, it is excellent, however.

Ordered this yesterday, received it this morning via Fed Ex (only about 30 miles from vendor).I could not go to bed without leaving a comment.Am in an apartment with non-stop, chain smokers downstairs, which was the reason for my purchase.With the unit on low (only 700 sq. ft. apt) it removed all trace of the smoke.I cook with copious onions one to two times per day, this morning it quickly removed the odor while cooking.But, the biggest test of all, and of which I was entirely skeptical, was on the residual pesticide that was applied to my bedroom walls after a professional black mold abatement was needed from a water leak in this brand new apt.The chemicals they applied in middle April were still knocking me out today.I have chronic bronchitis and severe chemical allergies.Every time I would try to spend the night in the room I developed a sore throat, runny nose, swollen eyes, and itchy skin, not to mention the lingering putrid stench.I have been sleeping in the living room only.I placed the generator in the room at 8 PM tonight, cranked up the fan, the purifier, the anions, and the sterilizer (all on the handy remote), closed the door, and waited 30 minutes.Following the directions, I cracked the door and remotely turned off the machine and stayed out of the room for one hour.When I opened the door IT WAS THE SWEETEST SMELLING ROOM IN THE APARTMENT AND OF ANY ROOM IN MY MEMORY.Any and all hint of a smell is gone.I even noticed my skin doesn't itch any more, which started after they applied those chemicals.I AM AMAZED.Being disabled, it was very difficult to part with this money, but I literally, was suffocating to death from the smoke.I hope this lasts, and can stand up to alot of wear, cause it is going to work alot.Will update down the road...

I ordered two LG filters by Cuno as was originally in our LG refrigerator but received two filters for Kenmore refrigerators by a different manufacturer. They arrived quickly and in good order. They seem to be well made, are very similar to the original and are rated for 500 gallons so I kept them. It has been a few weeks since installation and the water is clear and odorless so the filter seems to be effective. What I am not entirely satisfied with is the fact that I received a substitution by a different maker than what was described and pictured and I have to assume are of similar quality.

I ordered 4 of these filters on January 1, received on January 7.

The product ordered was 4 x LG LT500P Vertical Refrigerator Water Filter, 1-Pack.

What I received was the much cheaper product from Water Sentinel, fulfilled by Potential Dynamix. There is no mention of this Water Sentinel filter anywhere on the product description, my receipt or shipping info. Either a favorable error for the seller or a bait and switch.

Have just returned the filters.

Good capacity and cooling power. Im glad theres a small ice tray. My only complaint is that while it is generally quiet, it makes a little ,ore noise than I'd like. I keep it inmy office close by me so it's especially bothersome. Combined with all the other humming noises in my office (the vents, the computer, my monitors), it's another minor annoyance.

Good looking, and I like the wire shelves.They left a larger open space at the bottom, which is good for larger bottles of wine.We included this as part of a kitchen remodel, and unfortunately ended up with a damaged cabinet from condensation.We were running the unit at 45*, which is apparently too cold??Granted, we are in South Florida, so perhaps a 78* home, and being built in, was just too much for it?We're running it at 60* now, and have had no additional problems.Just be aware, and test yours at lower temps.

The unit worked for seven weeks, and then shut down. We checked the outlet--which is fine--so it didn't blow the circuit and there's no issue with the power being supplied to the unit. We tried unplugging it, leaving it unplugged, and then plugging it back in. The digital display lights up for a split second, and then it goes black. To Amazon's credit, they dispatched UPS for pickup and will be issuing a free refund. Of course, now we have a large hole in our cabinet...and have to find a different brand to purchase. Although the build quality was good, and when it worked it worked well, I don't think we'll be taking a chance with SPT again.

Subsequent note: while awaiting Amazon's shipping label to return, the unit turned on again. I still am at a loss to explain why it was dead for a week and then suddenly began working. In all my years of dealing with electronics (on a high level), I've never seen anything like this. Draw your own conclusions as to whether or not you want to buy an SPT product, but I certainly would have hesitation.

Looks nice in the picture but the actual unit has poorly finished edges. The shelves are so tight that they will barely fit the bottles. Lots of scraping to get the full 32 bottles in. The shelves are cheap wire shelves that have the risk of falling out if you're not careful, as the stopper often breaks.

All those issue are not deal breakers but the temperature fluctuations are tough to accept. I measured the actual temps in the unit and you can expect up to a 6 degree difference from that the display shows. Very very bad if you have expensive collectibles that go in long term. Not please at all with how this worked out.

Nothing to write home about. The package and item description says 32 bottles but there areonly 28 places on the wire racks for bottles, I guess you are supposed to double stack the other 4 bottles somewhere. Unit came well packaged with no damage visible. I let it set upright for 4 hours as per the instructions before energizing and have had no problems after 5 days running. Its set at 40 deg F and seems to hold it ok when checked with a known good thermometer. Is slightly noisier than I expected for the size of the unit but is not objectionable. You can hear it but no louder than any other fridge. The light is not switched with the door, you have to manually turn it on and off. To do this you have to unlock the controls which automatically lock after 12 seconds.

This is bigger than you would think. I measured it all out but once here it is just more massive than I thought. Actually ended up putting it in the basement. That is fine for now next to my chest freezer.

The reason for 3 stars is the doors are slightly out of allignment. Only one day so far and it does seem to work though. I guess it is better just to spend the extra and get a full sized floor standing model, on that note these are not all that cheap.

but... the outer shell is a thin plastic and it arrived with a broken corner.

A 1"x1/2" plastic corner was loose in the bottom of the box but the box was not dented.

I kept the unit because it is not openly displayed. The broken piece was superglued back above the hinge but still shows a crack.

I ordered this unit for work, so I wouldn't have to keep buying soft drinks from the vending machine.It does work in that capacity, but there are some annoyances with it, and some limitations.

First I'll start off with the positives.It's lightweight, and it's really attractive.It also does cool things pretty well.I can't comment on warming things up, because I haven't tried it.

The negative part is it is quite large for what it can hold.And more than that, the insides don't hold temperature very well at all after you power it down.It warms up way too fast.Also, unlike a compressor based refrigeration unit, this thing is on all the time.Lastly, you are only supposed to run this for 48 hours consecutively, after which time you need to power if off for one hour.This is not stated in the description, but is an annoyance.

So, overall, it's not bad, because it does keep things quite cold, and you can put most things in it (2 liter bottles you have slant a little).Particularly at work, it can save you money, and give you a much better selection than the vending machine since you can bring in whatever you want.You will also get comments on how beautiful it is; it's that attractive.Just be aware of its imperfections so you won't be disappointed.

I bought two of these and as an electrical engineer I can attest that the circuit board inside the can is cheaply made and poorly designed; the cord heats up after a while and the unit will eventually die.This mini-fridge is defintely a fire hazard.If you buy this, you should invest in a timer to shut the unit down for an hour or two per day, maybe 2AM to 4AM.

FYI:

I also bought the Pepsi Can fridge and it is a beast.I never unplug the unit and it has been running for 6 months now.It is a little smaller than the Coke can (which is great) and it does not have an ugly AC/DC converter brick (not shown) hanging from it like the Coke can does.The Pepsi can's power is converted internally; only a cord is exposed and not any ugly power brick.

Update:Both Coke Frigdes died in less than 4 months of constant use.The Pepsi Fridge eventually died after 7 months.I recommend to stay away from these fridges.They are great to look at but they are NOT made for everyday use.

Update2:I opened up the two Coke fridges and the Pepsi fridge, and realized a biasing capacitor blew in each.I went to RadioShack and bought replacement caps, and now I have my fridges back.Easy fix for those who can de-solder a part from a small circuit board, and replace it with an equal (or better part).I bought capacitors with a higher breakdown voltage (100V rating), so it will be able to take a little more abuse.

I got this for Christmas and it stopped working after 6 months.I called the manufacturer (Koolatron) and they said it only has a 90 day warranty.When I said it's only been 6 months, they said that the refrigerator was from China, so it wasn't warrantied past 90 days.They offered that I could buy a new motor $30 or new AC adapter ($40).Don't buy this please. You can do a lot better without the hassle. I also had to buy a little thing that turned it on/off every night, so the total cost of this thing far outweighs its cuteness.
