Swift Green Replacement for LG LT700P Refrigerator Filter

I bought this to save money as a replacement filter for my LG french door fridge.I have re-inserted it twice, and it fits properly. I have run at least 5 gallons through the filter.The problem is my water has a plastic taste...my sons says it "tastes like you are drinking from a hose."I will give it a couple more weeks to settle in, but then will have to break down and buy the higher price LG LT700P filter.Lesson learned :(

The filter I received for my Kenmore elite refrigerator did not appear to filter water and produced an odor to my water that was similar to a rotten egg.

Unlike the factory replacement filter from Kenmore, the Swift Green Filter seemed to have no reduction in water pressure. So the pressure was the same as if I had no filter installed. So I came to the conclusion it either was not filtering correctly or just bypassing the ingredients that filter the water. The water that was produced through the filter had a bad odor that was not present when I removed it and bypassed the filter.I did follow all the Swift Green installation instructions which included soaking the filter prior to installation and purging the filter with 2 to 3 gallons of water after installation.I also felt the recommended 3 gallons of water to purge was excessive. The filter is only recommended to filter up to 33 gallons of water.

I found the Swift Green Replacement for LG LT700P Refrigerator Filterto be ineffective or of poor quality in comparison to the factory replacement filter. I would not recommend this product in place of the factory filter.

Excellent filter! My well-water tastes cleaner, and our refrigerator puts out water faster than with the stock filter! I will certainly be purchasing this filter again when it is time for a new one.

Fit perfect and saved a bunch of money by installing it myself.

Put this item in some pretty hot water for a bit before installing. Had a hair dryer handy to rewarm it during install and for working out the creases and malformations after install.

I found some instructions on line that stated to removed the food from the door (leaving door attached to fridge) and just loosen all the factory screws about half way. Slide the old gasket out, slide the new one in. Worked like a champ. Tightened the screws back down, heated up some areas with the hair dryer, close the door, let it sit a bit to let the cool temperature "set" the gasket, rinse and repeat for problem areas.

It takes a bit of work and some technical savvy to install any refrigerator door seal. This seal was a perfect match for the original seal. You will need a 1/4 inch socket to remove the mounting screws. (hint-use an electric drill or screw driver and bit to speed the process) For all of you DIY's out there, you will save big when replacing this yourself.

I purchased this filter from a discount filter store on-line.It worked fine for about two weeks and then clogged.I was about to call for repairs on the refrigerator, but instead I replaced it with the genuine GE product and so far no troubles with the GE filter.

Bought three filters to save money. 1 of 3 didn't work. Water went into the filter, but nothing came out. The other two filters fit and worked fine. Bought this to save money. It turns out I didn't save anything. I should have bought GSWF 3 packs.

These water filters are the least expensive filters I have been able to find for my GE refigerator.

It is important to run water from the water dispenser after installing these filters. This will not only ensure that you have properly seated the filter during the installation, but will also clean the excess carbon particles from the water line.

If you don't fully seat the filter no water will flow to your ice maker or water dispenser. (note: it is hard to tighten these filters, but just be persistent) I know this from experience and got lucky because no water was flowing since I had neglected to flush the line after the installation. When I flushed the line after fully seating the filter, it produced black water from the water dispenser until fully flushed. After running a couple glasses from the dispenser everything was running crystal clear. I am very happy that I didn't end up with black ice cubes, because of my original error in not flushing the line after the install.

Bottom line: Excellent replacement for the much more pricey GE original water filters.

I was apprehensive given the spotty reviews so far.However, I opted to buy one and give it a try.Works great.It was a bit (15 sec) more difficult to get in because of the tight O-ring but I spent more time (another few seconds) getting the orientation correct (with the tabs on top, lining up with the top fridge receiver slots).Once I pushed up and twisted and heard the swoosh of water filling it up, I knew I was good.Ran about two or three 32 ounce cups of water to clean it out and I was good to go.Checked for leaks later in the day and all was good.Would recommend and definitely buy again.

We purchased a 3 pack to use in the office.Have used two so far and no problems. The Aviditi filter works as good if not better then the GE one that is more money.There is a little carbon once opened but as you should do with any filter run about a half gallon of water through it first. We are happy with them and will buy them again.

If you're reading this then you're probably neck deep in trying to figure out if there's any chance this will actually fit your fridge. While I'm not sure how much help I can be with that, all I can do is share my experience. My fridge is a Kenmore 79142 built around 2000. The ice maker in it puked and I needed a new one. After searching forever I finally convinced myself that this one would fit just fine. It seems like there are only a handful of ice maker manufacturers that send their units to everyone who, in turn, put their own model numbers on them and *poof*...confusion city.

In the end this ice maker fit just fine. The ice tray is metal unlike some of the cheaper plastic generic units. The description says this is a genuine Whirlpool part but the box is certainly very generic looking with a generic model number on it. I opened the box, it looked like a quality unit and I installed it. The next day I had ice so that's a win in my book. It's been working great ever since. Depending on your particular setup you might need to borrow brackets and the wiring harness from your old unit. I also had to remove the scored cutout section for the water inlet. Beyond that it was pretty much plug and play.

to install.The wiring harness was too short, needed

The icemaker was delivered promptly and was pretty easy to install. The only caveat I'd offer is that I thought it best to re-use a couple of clip on parts off the old one (for instance, the arm that dips down to sense ice volume. The one that came with this unit was slightly different.

Been working flawlessly for several weeks. No complaints at all. I liked that it came with the test diagram in the instructions (the front panel, when off, shows where to use a multimeter probe to find out what's broken. Although hopefully I'll never need to do that!)

This replacement was identical, except it doesn't come with the wire harness you just unplug from the old maker.Less than half the price of the maker from Sears, and about half of local parts stores. Great!

The only thing you need to know is there is a TINY screw on the side of the face, that can be turned SLIGHTLY in or out to adjust the fill time, if your water pressure is unusually low or high.

My 14 year old GE Profile evap coil in the freezer was frozen solid, and I found that the defrost mechanism was not functioning at all. There are three components--this timer, a defrost thermostat, and a defrost heater--and I wasn't positive which was bad so I did all three. I got the thermostat locally, only because it was out of stock here. You can read my heater review if you'd like. This timer was easily replaceable and was exactly the same as the stock one that came out. After replacing this and the other two parts everything worked perfectly, and the fridge is now off more than its on which is opposite of before. This timer triggers the defrost cycle every 16 hours, for 35 minutes per cycle. The compressor and fans are off during that time, and the heater can be seen glowing in the freezer compartment. It turns off before the 35 minutes are up as it's controlled by a thermostat that snaps on the coil in the freezer. Anyway, good product works as designed...
