I bought this fridge short notice when a defrosting attempt rendered my last beer fridge inoperable, and I felt a little pressured to hit the Go button on it as my tasty 12oz's of Heaven slowly warmed.But I must say I'm not disappointed at all!It's a great size, looks fantastic, isn't as heavy as I thought it would be, is very quiet, and keeps more than 60 bottles of Sam Adams ice cold and within arms reach with room to spare!My original fridge was a Kenmore job, with a pathetic waste-of-space freezer section (which this does not have) that for some unknown reason Sears saw fit to make the freezer floor out of the cooling element.So of course it iced up like you read about, and I, like many a man before me, took the task of removing this ice seriously (it was encroaching on my beer space as it grew!)...and pulled out my trusty, and ridiculously pointy, pocket knife.So after a bath of freon, or what ever the hell they're using these days to cool, washed over me with a snake-like hiss, I proceeded to slam the door and muscle the fridge out to the driveway where it still sits.Luckily my beer supply was low (it pains me to admit this), so I only needed to commandeer a single shelf in the practically useless "food" fridge as the wife calls it.But knowing this arrangement wouldn't last, I needed a new fridge, and fast.So I bit the bullet after reading a few whiny reviews about ridiculously trivial issues (like not getting cool enough, or damaged in shipping; neither of which plague(d) my unit), even springing for the $4 overnight option (Thank you PRIME!), and couldn't be happier.My pregnant wife likes it so much she's decided to throw caution to the wind and resume drinking.Who could resist pulling a frosty beverage from this bad boy and tossing it back at the end of a hard day?Not this guy!And this fridge delivers with style.Only thing I can think of as a drawback is it doesn't keep the ice frozen, but then, giving up room in it for ice when it could be holding more beer is just ludicrous.This scenario actually makes me shudder to consider.

Summary?Kick-ass fridge for the money and if you have Prime, pay the $4 to overnight it just so you can tell your friends you overnighted a FRIDGE for FOUR FREAKING DOLLARS.Then slam back a cold one for emphasis.

We purchased this refrigerator for our outside entertainment bar because of its size and energy efficiency rating.So far we are very satisfied.It is a quiet and maintains internal temperature keeping everything nice and cold.There are plenty of shelving options as they are all adjustable.The door has 10 can holder slots for beer or soda and also has adjustable shelves for bottles of soda or wine.There is a drawer on the bottom perfect for storing garnishes, cheeses or meats.There is plenty of room in the rest of the fridge to fill as you please.The door really is spot resistent, we are not constantly cleaning it!This was a great purchase; we highly recommend this item.

I had my Danby less than 24 hours before the problems started.I had the thermostat set at slightly more than half (probably 6/10) for the first night it was in use.The next day, I discovered that all of my 6 (expensive!) bottled beers on the bottom shelf (above crisper drawer) had frozen, and 3 of them had burst causing beer to go everywhere!Checked the rest of the beverages in the fridge to see if they were also close to bursting, but found those in the middle & top shelves not even beginning to freeze.

After this fiasco, I set the thermostat to about a third of the way up (probably 3/10) so as not to have a repeat incident.After another 6 hours, the stuff on the bottom did not freeze, but was very cold (great!).However, the items on the top shelf were barely even cool to the touch (not great).I proceeded to do a little test with a refrigeration thermometer leaving the thermostat at about one-third.After 30 minutes, the bottom shelf read 37 degrees.I moved it to the top shelf and waited another 30 minutes, and found it showing 54 degrees!A 17 degree difference between top and bottom!!!Not to mention that 37 degrees is WAY too cold especially when the thermostat dial is set so low.

So it seems that I am experiencing the same inconsistent cooling that at least 2 other reviewers are having.Amazon was great about setting up a replacement delivery & pickup.I am willing to try a replacement before calling this fridge a total failure.The replacement is set to arrive tomorrow, so I'll post an update in a few days.Wish me luck!

UPDATE:Received a replacement, and it had the same EXACT issue!!!Started it off with the thermostat at the midway point (most manufacturers recommend this setting), and placed identical thermometers on the top and bottom shelves.After one hour, the top read 55 degrees, and the bottom was at 30!!!!I am willing to accept a few degrees difference, maybe even as much as 6 or 7 tops, but 15 degrees is ridiculous.I would have to accept the top being at nearly 60 just to keep the lower half above freezing.Am sending this one back also (UPS is gonna hate me tomorrow), and am getting the Haier 4.5cu ft one instead.Fingers crossed...

Bought this to put in our casita for house guests. It was one of the few compact refrigerators we found that was frost free. It runs very quietly and chills very well. My only complaint is we wanted to reverse the door opening but no matter how much I fiddled with it we could not get the door to seal properly. When it opened from the opposite side the door would sag and the seal would not line up. I tried using a stack of washers and tried adjusting it every imaginable way to no avail. We wound up having the door open from the original side which required us to put the refrigerator in a different location.

I received unit in great shape no holes in box i though great but plugged unit in after the 2 hour wait and nothing tried different sockets still nothing compressor did not come on. so back it goes. Amazon was very helpful they are going the extra mile picking this large unit up at my house without pickup charge will get another in couple days. I will see how it works. UPDATE received second unit today waited 2 hours to plug in still no cooling called up danby sayed probably no freon in unit I sayed twice now unit ismade in China. so Amazon picking up another one. next one will be delivered Saturday or Monday let you know how it turns out third unit no freon it will go back also nect one i going to get a different brand

We run a small cafe and were looking for a a couple of display fridges that we could use to retail sodas to go. This looked great in the pictures and turned out even nicer than expected. The description says 117 cans but we actually managed to squeeze in 118 cans into the fridge through a little clever positioning.

It took awhile to get cool, but got down to a very nice frosty level after running it overnight. The more you put in the longer it takes obviously. I noticed one of the units not getting as cold as our other units and realized that we placed it too close to the wall blocking the back ventilation. Moved it out a few inches and it worked as hoped. Another thing we realized about glass doors is that any direct sunlight will keep trap heat in the unit. That's the one drawback, but they sure look good. Just keep it out of sunlight. It's also surprisingly quiet, not silent, but very quiet for a compressor fridge.

The shelves are designed to work with cans which is a big plus as most of these glass refrigerators are designed for wine. This is a big difference. You cannot store cans with frames designed for wine bottles. I believe optional wine racks can be purchased for this unit.

The unit comes with a nice stainless steel doorframe and handle and looks like it costs a lot more than it does. In fact, it is less than a third of what we paid for our older beverage display counter of the same size. Decent price, excellent product that works as hoped.

Very excited that my wife got this just in time for our SuperBowl party. We hold a small party every year and my old fridge just passed away last month.

The capacity of this fridge is huge, I just kept going and going and it still had space. My beer was getting a little too cold but I finally found the temperature control on the inside of the fridge near the light. Set it perfectly and everything is good now. What I like is that stainless door comes with a nice handle which makes the overall look quite sharp. The glass door is something I've never had before but it's a really nice feature that never occurred to me.

I use it under a counter but noticed that the unit vents from the back, just make sure there's space in the back for it to breathe and I think it'll be fine. The light in the fridge doesn't really do much for it, but if you leave it on and turn off the lights, it give it a very nice cool glow.Too bad our 49rs didn't make it, but I'm sure it'll be a blast. So far all systems go on this beverage fridge.

This is one good looking refrigerator. Sometimes I just stand in front of it and count the cans.It looks even better when you load it up. Currently storing a couple bottles of wine and a box of cigars along with about 40 cans of beer and it isn't even half full. I'm using it in the study but will either move it to the basement or get another.It's almost silent but does growl slightly when the compressor runs which usually happens when you open the door. The bottom and back of the unit tends to chill faster so if you want something cooled down quicker, fill it bottom to top. The thermostat is kind of hidden right by the light. I haven't completely filled it up but there seems to be and endless amount of space. Great price for a stainless trimmed unit.

Update: 02/23/13Still going strong. Thanks to a little tip I got, I put in a glass of water and a hygrometer to make sure my cigars are good to the end. Love this fridge.

We just remodeled our kitchen and put in fairly high-end appliances. Only problem was the space for the fridge wasn't very large and we could only put in a standard one. I have one in my rec room and one in my garage workshop. Both of them work well and store tons of cans. I've only managed to fill up one of these completely.If you have it filled up with room temperature cans, it takes a while to get everything cooled back down to where I like it.What I noticed is the one in my garage was put deep into a small cutout and did not have much space on the back of the unit to vent and that one wasn't as cool. I pulled it out a few more inches and was able to get it cooling perfectly.I store a few bottles of wine in this as well and have no complaints there.

These look really sharp with the glass stainless steel door, and costs way less than a high end glass display refrigerator. I've tried storing fruit in here as well and it works just like a chiller compartment in a refrigerator. It doesn't seem to dry out food products at all.

Replacement for Whirlpool Refrigerator Cold Control Thermostat 2198202

• Replaces part number: 2198202

I bought this thinking it was an "exact" replacement for my thermostat, but it is not.It looks the same but the part number is different.I wish they had stated it was a generic part on their description.I don't mind generic parts as long as I know that's what I'm getting and they work correctly.

The one I received froze everything in my refrigerator.I turned the dial as warm as it would go to no avail.I started adjusting the little adjustment screw to see if it had been set wrong at the factory, but that didn't help either.The thermostat either let things get too hot and wouldn't turn the fridge on or would continue to freeze everything.

I sent them an email through Amazon explaining my problem, but have received no response after five days.I sent the unit back to them and hope to get a full refund.

I bought this cooler for several reasons, including:

1.) truly square internal dimensions (i.e. no 'hump' at the bottom for a compressor)

2.) thermoelectric (i.e. no moving parts)

3.) lightweight (i.e. no compressor)

4.) tinted glass

5.) inexpensive

At room temperature (77F), the cooler is able to lower the internal ambient temperature to 55F and the temperature of the wine to 58F. A ~20F differential isn't bad for a 50 watt thermoelectric cooler.

My only complaints/wishes are:

1.) A true thermostat with a digital readout (I currently use an analog thermometer and adjust the rotary temp knob)

2.) Better welds on the rear of the unit (two of the supports broke loose at the welds while moving it around)

Caution to anyone looking for a quality unit that will last for years.I purchased the 28 bottle Edgestar wine cooler just under 2 years ago and was generally pleased with it's functioning and appearance until it simply stopped working last week.The warranty period is only a year, of course, and I have had no success in finding a reasonably priced repair option.This unit has never been moved or handled roughly and there were no casualties of nearby appliances which could be explained by a power surge.Given another similar review, I can only conclude that this is an inferior quality unit that is not manufactured to last.I will never purchase an Edgestar product again.

The Edgestar model is the classic example of a lure.If it were being sold in a store, you'd ask about wine coolers because of the low low price on *this* one.Then, live and in person, the salesperson would tell you about how this is a great brand but that this was the "underpowered" model.Like a plastic John Deere lawn mower.Or that baby grand piano at the front of the store for $1000.Online, however, you can't see that it is the lure.Or to be more precise, it is sold as the "bargain" rather than a lure, and you'd have to fish through a billion contradictory reviews to find the truth -if you could -which is that this unit, when in top form, is underpowered, under-built, poorly controlled, and according to most is a time-bomb waiting to cease working the moment its warranty expires.I've had mine for more than two weeks.Plugged in, once out of its box, it looked very nice.And let's be frank I am the guy who bought the $140 wine fridge.So I expected it to run but not to be a Sub Zero.You judge, though, whether this is a wine refrigerator worth owning at any price or a device whose sole purpose is to suck people into stores to sell expensive models.Empty, it took three days to get from 70 to 55 degrees, at which point it actually cooled more slowly.That's with unlimited ventilation space on a good three prong outlet with solid current.Loaded with wine, it then took a reasonable couple of days to get stable around 55 again.The problem is that this is the maximum cooling setting.Now, if you are storing only reds, and you think that a device that runs CONSTANTLY to achieve 55 degrees, because as best I can tell it has never, ever stopped running the compressor, set at the absolute coolest setting (it isn't digital which is reasonable given the price), then you are missing the point.Whites with a thermometer at the bottom or top could never be stored here.The humidity is too low generally, no matter what, because it is constantly running, but the temp can't touch 49 degrees.I shudder to think what the electricity bill from this little thing will run it must be a compressor out of one of those 12 volt portable ice chests to run this much.But the real issue is that it is obvious it will soon die.How soon?Read the other reviews.About a year, it seems fair to guess.I suppose I will hold on to it.What would I do?Sell it on craigslist for $50?But then in a year, I have to buy another one.Perhaps I should think of this as a one-year lease on a cheap car.You decide whether that's what you want for your collection, or whether you'd like to avoid my dumb mistake...

Why would you want to have a wine refrigerator?Wine tastes better when served at the proper temperature.I don't know why people start out with the 6 to 8 bottle chillers.I think a better value for your money is to spend more and get the larger cooler.This holds 32 bottles, and it has adjustable shelves.The only drawback is that if you have extra long bottles, this cooler will not handle bottles that ice wine is shipped in.

This cooler is extremely quiet, and has a nice finish.It does not have dual cooling zones.You can set the temperature that you like.I tend to leave mine set at 50, and if I am serving a red I take it out and let it warm for a few minutes before serving.My old cooler was 20% larger, and held only 28 bottles.I think this is a great value for its price.I am looking forward to many years of service from this electric wine cooler.
