I bought a 6 pack of these Frigidaire water filters so I would have enough to last 2-3 years.They can be used for approximately 6 months before needed replacement. I did notice that the
filters really should be changed maybe around 4-5 months instead. The signs of it needed changing
is when the water flow seems slower and the stream is not as forceful as normal. They are very
easy to remove and replace in my Frigidaire side by side. When I saw how much Lowes wanted for
the same filters, I decided to purchase these on Amazon from a trusted seller.
I highly recommend these filters for general water filtering.
If you want a special filter that removes all chemicals including Fluorine, be prepared to
spend a lot more.We have a residential refrigerator with water on the front in an office of about 15 people. The water and ice get used heavily. Originally, we were waiting for the "Filter" warning to come on before changing it and were buying the filters retail. Those were incredibly expensive, plus the water always started tasting bad long before the light came on. We'd also have issues where the flow would get weaker and weaker.
After a bit of research, it became clear that due to our volume, we need to be changing the filter more often. Since I ordered a six-pack of these filters, I have been changing it every two months. That works perfectly...the reminder comes up on my calendar just as I'm starting to taste a decrease in water quality.
To be clear, I am NOT saying that these filters won't last 6-months in a normal, home kitchen environment. They just don't for our office since we probably filter more water in a day than would be used in a week at home.
After a lot of trial and error, my opinion is that you should change the filter when the water starts to takes less pure and/or the flow is significantly decreased.
These filters work great and the cost makes more frequent changing of them affordable.

This isn't even worth it for a basic collector.There isn't a temperature display, but the large problem here is that the temperature control switch offers NO range at all.You could for example set it to highest or lowest settings and get no difference AT All in actual temperature.Not only that but the temperature is too cold for red wine to be properly stored.I hate to be a perfectionist here but hey, isn't that why we buy these things in the first place?I've spoken with other former owners of this hassle of a cooler and heard the same review.The best part was when I called to tell Danby of the problem customer service told me the problem was an isolated problem they've never had before and that the temperature should be able to be adjusted.SO I sent back and received another, then another.None of them ever got warmer (or colder) than 45 degrees and I have sent it back a final time. KEEP SHOPPING AROUND!

Bought this unit From TheFactoryDepot via Amazon at the end of July 2010, and it worked until late April 2011 (warranty is good until April 2012).When it ceased working, I visited the Danby website to find a service depot.Located one nearby, dropped off the unit. After a week went by, I was told the compressor had failed, and was directed (by the depot) to contact the seller for return/replacement.Called TheFactoryDepot and was told I need to contact the manufacturer.Called Danby, and they are closed on a Friday in anticipation of a Canadaian holiday (Victoria Day) on Monday.At this point, I am not optimistic about the outcome.Will post an update when I reach the end of this quest.
UPDATE, June 7, 2011: Was finally able to contact Danby's customer service department after many attempts and busy signals.Provided the information about my unit, and was told they would contact the service depot for specifics on the failure.Several emails and phone calls later, I was finally told that Danby was going to give me a refund and send me a check for the amount of purchase.That was one week ago... no check yet.Will post again when (if) I receive the refund.
UPDATE, July 9, 2011: The check from Danby arrived today. Case closed.

There is indeed space for 17! bottles in this cooler, but three of them need to be eiswein! I doubt this will hold 17 .75 liter bottles; I might get one more eiswein in it for 18 bottles. It took some figuring how to do it, but 17 will fit.I haven't had the cooler long enough to note its efficiency, but it seems durable enough.For the price, it seems to be a good purchase.

I purchased this item as a replacement for another part number that had been discontinued.However, I believe this item is actually superior.The original part I had was a very fragile two-piece part and the bottom portion was made of clear plastic that was very brittle and easily broken.This replacement part is all one piece made of white plastic.I believe this item will hold up much better than the original part.

The fridge is around 29" in height--just below counter-top in our kitchen. This made it easy to find a space for it.
What I don't like about it is that the rear mechanism is uncovered; also the racks are wire racks (when you put bottles on them, they tend to tip over). The crisper has a cutout in the center which simply reduces space...if it wasn't there, you could fill the crisper with cans quite nicely. Instead, I had to remove it completely. Not a big deal.
If you raise the top shelf to only about 4" height, it can hold wine bottles (etc.) on their sides. This allows one of the racks to be sized for 12 oz. bottles. If you don't do that, you can have all racks hold cans, and it will hold a lot of cans, maybe 75?
The middle setting (roughly a 5.5 on a 1 to 10) dropped the temperature to 32 degrees in about 24 hours. I'm assuming the lady above me was getting frost because she was turning it down too low. Do yourself a favor and find a thermometer to get a good temperature. You definitely don't want it below 32; in addition to potentially frosting over, it will cost you more money to run it.
Don't forget--when you buy a new fridge, let it sit for 24 hours before plugging it in! If you don't, all the oil in the compartment will not have settled and the refrigeration components can be damaged. I'm wondering if that's why so many people had to return their first purchase and exchange it for another (this is a common review at the Sam's website).

WE bought this fridge from Sams Club about a month ago. It works well at keeping drinks cold. We did specifically did not want a freezer section so that part was perfect. My issue is that it is a manual defrost, I did not even realize thatany company still made a fridge that had to be manually defrosted. That is the only dw frustrating to downside so far, but how frustrating to know that I am going to have to take everything out at some point and defrost it then let it rechill before I can restock it. So every few months bcomes a two day process.

I'm loving this little refrigerator. I use it for bottled drinks which saves a lot of space in my full sized fridge. It cools the drinks evenly and has no flaws that I have seen. The only drawback I'd mention is that it's a little bit ugly. It has a lock on it, which would certainly be perfect for dorm room use, but that makes the overall appearance a bit more like a safe and less like a refrigerator. I would just as soon that it not have the area for cans in the door, since I buy all of my drinks in bottles, but it has tons of space elsewhere, so there is no loss created by having that space specially designed for cans. I also keep some cheese in the fridge, and it works beautifully to keep that cool along with the drinks. I recommend it, and I think that the lock would be a valuable feature to many people out there.

Yes this item fixed our refrigerator problem. Do not be misled about how difficult it can be to remove the old one and install the new one. Whirlpool did a good job engineering the parts to force the customer to use over priced local service technicians to complete the repair. It could/should have been much easier and less expensive.
