We just purchased this refrigerator/freezer.The design seems very nice and practical, nothing bad to say about that. However, the unit is extremely loud.I am twenty five feet away from the refrigerator as I type this review and I can hear the cooling fan clear as a bell.We had a technician check it out and he said that is just the way it is and there was nothing he could do about it.If you do decide to buy this unit, may I suggest you also purchase a good set of ear plugs.

I agree with the other reviewer that this unit is very loud. The inside layout is nice, and it works well, but I wouldn't have bought it if I had known it was this loud.

Bad design, : We've owned this refrigerator for slightly over three years. In that time, the control board in the top shelf failed twice ( part costs $510), and the wiring to the top drawer (part costs $110) has failed four times. The movement of the top drawer when you open and close it bends it back and forth so it eventually breaks. Two weeks ago the wiring broke again, and then over the weekend the fridge and freezer failed completely (compressor won't run).

Bad customer service: I think Whirlpool should make a fridge that doesn't break, or that at least the repair parts should be cheap (250 feet of the wire used in the $110 top drawer wiring costs $100 online). I called Whirlpool to complainand I was told by the person on the phone that the fridge was "made by humans" and it is so complicated with all the onboard electronics that I should "expect the fridge to break" this frequently, so it was my fault that I didn't buy the extended warranty coverage ($519).

We are going to replace this with another fridge from a different manufacturer.

Vinotemp 88-Bottle Dual-Zone Wine Dispenser and Cooler

Vinotemp 88-Bottle Dual-Zone Wine Dispenser and Cooler
  • Front exhaust allows for built-in installation
  • Dispenses from 4 bottles. Keeps open wine fresh for several weeks through the use of argon or nitrogen gas
  • 14 coated metal shelves, recessed handle and blue LED interior light
  • Two-zone wine cooler stores 34 bottles in the top compartment and 54 in the bottom compartment
  • Safe to use in bottle - stopper and dispenser parts are FDA approved

First, let me express that the below is my opinion based upon my experience with this purchased item. As both an architect and engineer by trade I think I am qualified to pass judgment on a product and determine if it represents a stunning or quality product. Having stated the aforementioned...

I was really excited about getting this wine cooler and dispenser when I first came across it. Given the price I anticipated that it would exude quality. Additionally I expected that somehow that quality would help to justify the price.

Boy was I wrong.

The item is cheaply built and believe it or not... made in China. When I say cheaply built, let me explain... the top of the cooler where the digital readout is located is a flimsy piece of plastic and it doesn't sit horizontally parallel to the door. Rather it is skewed at an angle due to the hinge pin of the door which forces the plastic piece of the faceplate upwards on the right hand size as you face the cooler.

Additionally the interior walls of the cooler are comprised of thin plastic and if you place any pressure on them they will move under the force.

The dispensing element that is built into the cooler is a bit of a joke in that the components that provide this capability could be purchased at any hardware store for about $25. It's just a bunch of tubing that leads to a nitrogen tank that provides pressure via a momentary switch. I was expecting some cool electronics or hi-tech sophistication given the expense of this item.

The sliding shelves are a joke in that they barely pull out and they are all metal like the top of a barbecue grill where they just don't feel particularly sturdy or classy. Unlike other fine quality coolers there is no ball bearing sliders, no wood that fronts the shelves... they are very plain typically like those you would find on a $100 wine fridge from a local home depot or lowes.

The LED lighting is poorly integrated and does not bath the cooler shelves with evenly distributed light.

The doors do not smoothly open and close but rather the top door in particular has to be closed with some force due to it being misaligned by the nature of its construction.

The locking mechanism is a joke in that the lock is not a lock but more of a latch. Although a pentagon shaped key is provided it is not 'keyed' uniquely to the cooler. Rather any device can be used to undo the latch (or lock as they refer to it) that can fit into the keyed area. A butter knife as example, or flat object, can be placed between the door and cabinet and without any force, simply push the latch to an unlocked position. So if you want to feel some level of security with your fine wine... forget about it.

If you look at the purchase price and consider that you could purchase the VinoTemp 4 bottle dispenser (which includes the cooling feature)for under $1000 and additionally a VinoTemp 160 bottle dual temperature cooler that has a much fancier appearance for $1000... Well you do the math... your paying $3000 because they integrated the technologies into a single package... There is no uptick to the quality compared to their other products. Perhaps just the opposite.

Simply put,... I do not consider this wine cooler/dispenser to be any great achievement.

Overall I consider the cooler dispenser to be very cheaply made. I cannot tell you how disappointed and cheated I feel given the selling price for this item.

My best advice to give you is to stay away from this product if your expectation is a quality product.

Way cool unit. All my friends love it too.Great conversation piece.I honestly have found that I am drinking less than I have in the past because the Argon preserves the wine so well I don't feel like I am going to waste wine.Great purchase.LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT.....

Micro Cool Mini Fridge

Micro Cool Mini Fridge. It lasted about 5 weeks before it just stopped working and died.Obviously, mine isn't the only one.If I had read these reviews beforehand, I wouldn't have bought it.

I had heard that these "micro fridges" really didn't keep food cool, but I really needed something for my snacks at work, since food items often disappear from the community refrigerator. The price was great, and I have to say I am really pleased with this product. It's a little loud (sounds like you're running a fan on low) but you get used to that. It keeps all of my food cold. It's been great to keep me on track eating healthier snacks that I bring from home.

I bought this to keep food in my office. The first few weeks it was okay. Then one day i turned it on cold, and it boiled my soup. I thought about just not using it after that, but since I spent money on it, I decided to give it another try. Thank god it was quiet in my office one morning, the plug began sparking and almost caught my office wall on fire. I'm no longer allowed to have a fridge because of this peice of crap.

...why can't a handicapped lady get a cold drink in the middle of the night??I've had this and several other similar models of the same unit, and they're more trouble than they're worth. It's very noisy, and not a "white noise" kind of noise...more of an irritating whining.Biggest problem is that they break...and fast. The longest I've had one is just over a year. The cord gets alarmingly warm or it just stops working, or forgets what mode it was set, heating cold drinks and melting cheese sticks.I wish I could find a decent little fridge for my bedtable, but this and similar appearing units are a bust. They may even all be manufactured by the same cheap cheap company.I will continue to look for a mini fridge, but will never get another one that looks like this. They're essentially all the same, and none of them have worked for me.

For now I use a vacuum insulated Thermos for my nighttime thirst quenching! It keeps water/juice cold for a good 6-8 hours and I don't have to worry about the room catching fire!

I had previously used a similar but a different personal fridge in a shared office that had been working well for many years and so wanted one of my own. I read all the reviews and thought that it was mere bad luck and that "it would not happen to me", but as reported by others, the product works fine for a month or so then suddenly quits for no apparent reason and becomes a useless piece of junk. Beware of this particular brand and product. Get a better quality elsewhere.

LG 5231JA2006A Refrigerator Water Filter, 2-Pack

LG 5231JA2006A Refrigerator Water Filter, 2-Pack
  • Have great tasting water for just pennies on the gallon
  • Filter replacement is quick and easy. Removes 93.2-Percent of particulates (Class I) and 97.4-Percent of chlorine taste and odor
  • For cleaner, fresher water and ice, the LG 5231JA2006A Refrigerator Water Filter should be replaced every 6 months

Filters arrived as expected.Work great.Hardest part was finding out which filter matched the Sears/Kenmore Part Number I needed. For those who might be curious, purchasing these instead of the Sears-packaged version saved only about $5 per filter. Not much, but also saved driving to nearest Sears store.PS: these are the same filters as the Sears #9990 filters for the Kenmore "Trio" bottom-freezer refrigerator

I ordered these filters because the description implies that it has the same filtering performance of the the 5231JA2006B filter. The seller claims they are the same, but according to my research they are not.The paperwork inside the filter box of the 5231JA2006A filter does NOT list the same performance as the paperwork inside the 5231JA2006B filter box.

The price on this item appears to have gone up by about $20.00 in the last two weeks. These are the same exact filters sold by Sears for use in their high-end Kenmore Elite's (built by LG in 2005).I compared build, quality, part number, and packaging. However, when I purchased them they were about half the price compared to sears (I bought a two-pack).

Installation is via a simple twist-lock method. So, if you are replacing the filter for the first time, simply push and twist to remove and push and twit to install.Do not call Sears to do this. They charge a significant fee.For those who have a whole house water filtration system, or an inline (to refrigerator) filtration system (I use a Culligan good water reverse osmosis), the filters should last TWICE as long at the least.I have had many people argue that I do not need a water filter at the refrigerator if I have another system in place.I disagree.I like the idea of a backup in case of equipment failure.

We purchased the refrigerator in July of 2010. In Feb 2011 I ordered new water filters. Right after I installed them, the water began to taste like an old dish rag. I ran gallons of water through the filter, but the taste remained. I replaced the filter thinking maybe I had a bad one. The taste came back. It's only in the water -not the ice. Until I have another excuse, I am blaming the filters. I saved a few bucks but bought the taste.LG 5231JA2006A Refrigerator Water Filter

SAMSUNG DA97-02203G ASSEMBLY ICE MAKER-MECH OEM Original Part

SAMSUNG DA97-02203G ASSEMBLY ICE MAKER-MECH OEM Original Part
  • Samsung Original Part
  • SAMSUNG DA97-02203G
  • ASSEMBLY ICE MAKER-MECH

I ordered this part to replace the ice-maker in my Samsung RS2530BBP refrigerator. The original ice-maker wouldn't drop the ice after freezing. It appeared to have a bad thermistor in the tray which wouldn't detect that the ice had frozen. The thermistor is apparently not available for purchase as a separate part. The new assembly shipped quickly, but I discovered the plastic housing assembly was wrong. The mounting points on the new part were "stepped" one one side where my original housing was flat.I was able to take the "guts" out of the new part and re-use my original plastic housing.Everything worked, but switching out the housing shouldn't have been necessary (hence the 4-star rating).

EdgeStar 80 Can Built-In Beverage Cooler - Black/Stainless Steel

EdgeStar 80 Can Built-In Beverage Cooler - Black/Stainless SteelWe purchased this EdgeStar 80 Cooler in July 2012.Within weeks the temperature inside began creeping upward. We emptied the contents, and unplugged the unit, hoping to "reset" the thermostat. After a day we plugged it back in and it cooled down to 39 degrees.Again after several days the temperature began creeping up.We repeated the process, and noticed that there was ice forming in the back wall of the inside of the cooler.Over the next month we repeated the process, thawing and plugging back in.

We finally called the company today, Oct 24, and were told by the service manager that it only has a 30 days labor warranty. We would have to find our own refrigerator service person, have them look at it, and that person could call and order parts.Edgestar does not have service people they work with or recommend.

I explained that the unit had never worked properly, and he said there was nothing he could do, because the unit was more than 30 days old.He stated that the company was giving us "excellent customer service" by telling us to find our own service person.

The unit is worthless. The company, located in Austin TX is worthless. The service manager would not even direct my call to his superior, stating that I could call back as many times as I wanted, and he was the only person I would be able to talk to.

I had hoped that by buying a product made in the USA, it would be a quality company and service.Do NOT do business with this company.

EdgeStar 80 can beverage coolerhas great capacity and runs quietly. It has had some problems in the few weeks we have owned it with maintaining its gasket seal, so temps have risen. We otherwise like it.

I guess the bottom line is that this product simply did not live up to my expectations.I didn't by the least expensive models I found because I was afraid they would not maintain the desired temperature. This unit advertises a selectable range down to 38 degrees.Unfortunately, it has a thermostat that shows the actual temperature, which, in my experience is usually between 40 and 46 degrees, depending on the external temperature. To be clear, this unit is in an interior room in a very well insulated office building, but if the outside temp is over 8i0, the unit isn't going to be under 40.

Retro Series Compact Refrigerator Freezer

Nostalgia Electrics RRF325CR Retro Series 3.1 Cubic Feet Compact Refrigerator FreezerThe product picture is either a 3d model or photoshopped. In the picture the red looks like a cool, candy apple red, in actuality, it's much softer, with a slight slight hint of pinkish. Handles are plastic and I question how well they will hold up...I saw the same model at a local BJs store for $199. Wish I'd seen it in person before I bought it.

It's been working fine and will serve as my beer fridge, hopefully for a long time.

I was disappointed! the red did not match my other red nostalgia electric microwave and toaster oven products that I own,the matching color is why I paid the $250 for it!, as a regular 3.1 fridge is about $100-130 and I'm not happy with the awful flimsy cheap chrome plastic handles on it that will certainly snap off like a fresh carrot in the not too distant future,I am pretty sure thats why Walmart has stopped selling em too many complaints and returns? sorry guys a very high price just for a "red" (more like a pink)finish.FC

I was searching for a retro refrigerator for my '61 Shasta trailer that I'm fixing up for "glamping". When I took this frig out of the box I was completely dismayed to find it's plastic. I wanted to have all of my appliances powder-coated to match but I couldn't do it with this unti so I sent it back. The red isn't the deep, beautiful shade that it appears in the photos, it's a bright tomato red and the "chrome" pieces are unattractive. They could've done so much better with this retro-frig idea. Prepare to be disappointed.

Love this retro mini frig! The separate freezer compartment is very big and great that it has its own door keeps the area much colder than other mini frig freezer compartments. The refrigerator part even has a veggie/fruit crisper drawer! It is very large (for a mini frig) inside and has plenty of storage room. The outside of it is very retro and adorable! It matches the Retro Miicrowave Nostalgia Electrics RMO-400BLK Retro Series .9 CF Microwave Oven, Black perfectly!Very fun for a little kitchenette area with flair!

I had a wonderful experience with Vinotemp and my first unit, just got a second house and bought one again. They upgraded the racks a bit from the last one, and it seems to fit more varied bottle sizes, which is great these days especially with the tall and wider bottles.

I've purchased from them for years without a disappointment.

I have one at home for my Home theater concession stand but the condenser is too loud when it kicks on. It stays on for a good while too. Looks and works great just way too loud for the home. Got a killer deal on it but I may return it if I cant deal with the noise.
