This is an exact replacement motor for my Maytag Refrigerator, but note that the plug was not an exact fit.I had to cut the plug and make a wire to wire connection to the harness. No adaptors were provided.

Update:This motor continues to operate well over 30 days after installation. For the record it has a plug that might fit your Maytag... just don't count on it.My refrigerator model is MTB1956GEW.

GE WR55X10552 Main Board for Refrigerator

GE WR55X10552 Main Board for Refrigerator
  • WR55X10552
  • 1 year manufacturer warranty
  • Genuine GE factory part
  • Main Board

Great deal: I fixed my refrigerator for $110.00. Just for additional peace of mind I used a plastic foam between this Control Board and the Refrigerator since the original board short circuited on thesheet metal refrigerator enclosure. The old board also did not have a grounding wire which the new board has. I guess there was a problem with short circuiting, so they improved the circuit board and added the ground wire.

Newer models come with the insulating plastic between the circuit board & the Sheet metal as well.

My Fridge works like new now.

We bought the board to replace the broken one in our GE refrigerator. This is the 2nd time it happened because the product (board) design is defective and we expect it won't last long this time again. This is a well documented problem on the web and there is recall by GE.We called GE and they admitted the problem and recall but claimed that our unit's serial number and date are out of the recall range (a similar situation on my Saab 9-5 recently). The part arrived fast and we are happy with that aspect at least.

I couldn't believe Amazon had this part for my side by side! I installed this and within 30 min my refrigeration was making ice and dispensing again.

My GE fridge was making clicking sounds when the compressor tried to kick on.Sometimes it would take a while to turn on and the temp in the freezer would get above freezing and the temp in the fridge would get above 50F.Based on various internet sources it was evident the problem was the board. It took all of 15 minutes to swap out the board and after 1+ month the fridge seems to be operating normally.

I purchased just about every electronic replacement part for our Profile fridge... AND GE CS Advocates quoted me well below wholesale for the price.IE. I ordered a heater for the freezer section... best price anywhere on the web $30... GE: $10

I needed a main board... but decided to replace all of the electronics. I spoke to a GE customer advocate 3 times (placed 3 orders), called the 800 # listed in from Thin Tow Man's review.... WOW... Best CS ever... Our fridge is not warranty or any recall list... Ok, the important part... Main board (w/ 1 year warranty), temp. module board, two thermistors and a freezer switch module... Total including Next Day Air $95 And they both said that if I had a problem with the install that I could give them a call !!!I also purchased a Cole-Parmer temp monitor with high and low alarms... $50 WHEN THE ALARM GOES OFF (I set the alarms at -10 & +15 degrees) I THEN TURN THE FRIDGE OFF FOR 30 Secs to 1 min. AND THEN BACK ON. That really works in my case... Doing so resets the board... I read that somewhere... It's a real pain but solves a BIG problem until I do the new install. I am leaving the temp monitor (its very small) in place because I read somewhere the a person had THREE of the boards go bad within a very short period of time.

Thanks for everyones input about what to do.Saved $500 for repair or a new fridge for $1500... If you need to know more I'll help you with the outcome from DYI

GE SmartWater Inline Filter System (GXRLQ)

GE SmartWater Inline Filter System
  • The GE GXRLQ can be used with any brand of refrigerator and is installed inline behind the refrigerator. The GE water filter improves the taste and odor of water and ice going through your refrigerator
  • The compact design fits in tight spaces
  • The GE GXRLQ system has a "Twist and Lock" mechanism that makes changing water filters easy
  • The GE GXRLQ water filter system comes with everything you need to install the system and filter your water, including the GE GXRLQR water filter
  • The replacement filter is the GE GXRLQR and is easily replaced. Simply unscrew the old filter and screw in the new water filter

This is really nothing more than a taste filter it does a pretty good job of making los Angeles water taste good I use this to run to the water and ice maker in my fridge.

However, doing an actual water test, it does not remove a lot of the dissolved solids and minerals.

The overall system is fairly well made it is easy to change filters and you do not have to turn of the water to do so as the filter head features an auto shut off when the filter is removed.

However, the attachment to the wall is a single screw, and the connectors for the water lines are not as robust as i might like (friction fit essentially but then it IS all plastic and not brass.) this is probably better to use with plastic water line, as the flexibility of the plastic line should reduce stress at the fitting. I of course am using copper line, and thus my concern over the robustness of the fittings.

This is a great option for a fridge that does not have a built in filter. The filter is easy to install and easy to change. Water tastes good.I bought extra long tubing and ran it up to the cabinet above the fridge through a small hole made with a drill. Now it is totally concealed and accessible with a step stool.

Simply put...it works.I had that "Water Hose" taste on Ice due to my lines are all plastic. It went away immediately after installation.I only took one star away because the installation instructions lack detail on where the filter is to be placed. But it was easy if you have plastic line from the refrigerator valve to the ice-maker.Enjoy.

Installation was quick and easy. But somehow, I did not seat the plastic tubing in the fitting properly and later that night (bad things always happen when you're not there!) the input line popped out and the entire kitchen and nook were under water.

I reinstalled the system with greater care (and performed major house repairs) and it has worked fine for five years.I does no major filtration, but the water in the cubes and dispenser are good. Works for us.The refer. has one built in, but it costs $60 to change out yearly, or more often.I'll take the GE.Wish the fittings were a bit more secure, though!

Koolatron Voyager Cooler

Koolatron Voyager CoolerBefore retiring I drove a tractor trailer cross country for over 20 years, and used a Koolatron chest cooler nearly all that time. When on the road it would be on 24/7 sometimes for weeks at a time, with very few problems. Koolarton has been around for a long time and makes a great cooler. This cooler is a Canadian product, and still made in Canada to my knowledge. These things work great if you use them properly. Unless you are willing to wait a long time for things to cool down, you must cool items down before putting them in the coolerThe colder the better). Also if you cool the inside of the cooler first, that would help even more. That's where a AC/DC converter would come in handy to cool the frig in your house before you place it in your vehicle. This type cooler is extremely slow at cooling down warm items, but great at keeping cold items cold.

A trick I learned when in my truck was to bungee my cooler on the passenger seat and direct my AC vent at the fan side of it, that would keep it super cold inside even on one of those 100+ degree days they get around Phoenix AZ.CAUTION:::Everything will start to freeze in there doing this if you don't watch it and open the door regularly. On a hot day with the sun shining on the cooler its a good idea to keep it covered " Newspaper works " to keep the sun off of it. Note::: Keep everything away from the fan, air needs to circulate in that aria. Also don't pack the food to tight in the cooler, air needs to circulate there also.

I have never had an occasion to used it to heat or keep food hot. But I guess if you wanted to transport hot food to Grandma's or a friends house this would work quite well since it does get quite worm in there.Caution !!! Make sure you know what cycle " Hot or Cold " you are on before you start on a road trip. I personally know it is very easy to have it set on heat when you thought it was on cold if you don't double check it.

This P-27 cooler is a medium sized cooler and has a 29 quart capacity, probably the best all around size for the average family. Two liter bottles and milk containers will stand up inside of it. They also come much larger such as the Coolatron P-95 cooler, with a 45 quart capacity. They even come larger than that, if you have a super large family like on some of those TV shows. Of course they come smaller also, I have one that is mentioned at the end of my review.

If traveling a AC/DC Converter is a must if you need to keep things cold in a motel, or for any extended stop that has a 110 Volt wall outlet. Using the converter with your travel frig at home for extra cold drink storage for company might come in handy also. The Black & Decker CV6B / Vector VEC004 /Travel Mate / Rubbermaid / 6.0 Amp AC/DC Converter will do the job nicely.

I would not let the cooler run with your engine off for much more than a couple of hours, " Enough time to stop for a long lunch or dinner while you are travelingbut not to much longer " unless you are ready to have your car jump started. I don't know precisely how long your battery would last, that would depend on the condition and size of it.I do know I have left mine on for over 2 hours in my car with no problems whatsoever.

If used for very long periods of time, dust will accumulate around the fan aria and cut down on it's efficiency. Just remove the fan cover every 6 month's or so and clean out the dust if needed.

I still have a Koolatron chest cooler, that I use for longer trips. But I also have a smaller Black & Decker TC212B Travel Cooler & Warmer which also works well. I use this for day or weekend trips, when I don't have to take to much with me. Check out my review on it for more tip's. Before you leave how about a thumb's up for this review; lots of good advice for you.Thanx

I purchased this cooler for my truck driver spouse in July 2010. Over the years, I have purchased numerous coolers for him and almost none of them last past a year. Warning signs of impending breakdown comes at about six months. So, when I was informed that, yet again, another cooler purchase was in order, I decided to do a bit of research to find a cooler that provides cooling along with durability; which, ended in me buying this item.

According to my spouse this is his best cooler so far.

His likes:

Most important: It keeps food good and cold.

Quiet.

Even when warm to the touch on the outside, inside is beautifully chilled.

His dislikes (though, not enough to strongly condemn)

Power cord falls out easily. This requires frequent checks.

Latch to lock cooler is easily knocked off when closing cooler. However, it is not difficult to reattach.

So, there you have it. I'll update this review on occasion to let everyone know the status of this product.

Update: July 2012-My spouse has been using this cooler for two years now. There's been no issues and it keeps chugging along keeping his food and drink items cold. I would highly recommend this product for anyone that is looking for a reliable cooler that is up for some heavy use.

I bought this cooler for our road trip to Myrtle Beach. I worked out well. I have a baby so I needed to bring lots of snacks, milk and juice for him. I was also able to bring grown up snacks as well. The cooler held everything nice and I still had tons of room for much more. If you have the space it's nice to keep in the car to keep food in when your out and about all day. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

It does a good job keeping cold things cold.Slow to cool warm things, as expected.Koolatron's 3 amp rating is inaccurate for my P-27, which overloaded a 4 amp regulated power supply but is happy on a 5.5 amp regulated supply.

Owned this cooler for just over a year, yes I did use it a lot as a truck driver. Fans have died making cooler / heater non operational and a possible fire hazard... when fans quit working the heat side of the exchanger got extremely hot to the point of way to hot to touch. If I had been away from the cooler for a significant amount of time it may have gotten to the plastic melting / fire stage.

As far as operation when it was working, 1-2 items close to cold air output would be nice and cold, rest of items in cooler are cool not cold. Also very ambient temperature dependent... EG: If you leave it on in winter < 40 Degrees your items will most likely freeze... in summer 3-4 hours to cool down a couple of items.

For Truck drivers the trick is to place the cooler where an A/C vent can blow on the cooler, works really great then.

Overall, cooler worked fine for my needs of cool drinks on the road, the short life span for the price however is a huge disappointment.

LG LT600P-2 Refrigerator Water Filter, 2 Pack (Part Number 5231JA2006B)

LG LT600P-2 Refrigerator Water Filter, 2 PackI ordered the two pack with Amazon as the seller, and got the correct "B" version (not the cheaper "A").

Works fine in our Kenmore fridge.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

The package came with no receipt or any kind of printed copy of my order and with just one filter inside. The amazon packaging was well wrapped and did not seem to have been violated in any way but the actual product package was not sealed (looked like it was a re-packaged product)and only one water filter was available.

For 99$ this is completely unacceptable!

EdgeStar Built-In 30 Bottle Wine Cooler

EdgeStar Built-In 30 Bottle Wine CoolerHave had this unit installed for about a month now.Happy with it so far.I had noticed before I purchased that some reviewers said the compressor was noisy.I don't think it's very loud at all.I guess it depends on what you think is loud.My wife and I hardly ever notice when it's running.

One thing I'll point out is that it would be very hard to fit the advertised number of bottles in this unit unless all the bottles were on the small side. But I think all vendors stretch their capacity numbers in their ads.Just be informed.

The product seems to be well made and looks just like the photos:the width demissions were off by 1/4 of an inch at the bottom of the cooler, requiring me to recut the opening.

Cuisinart CWC-600 Private Reserve 6-Bottle Stainless-Steel Countertop Wine Cellar

Cuisinart CWC-600 Private Reserve 6-Bottle Stainless-Steel Countertop Wine Cellar
  • 6-bottle countertop wine cellar in an attractive stainless-steel design
  • Thermoelectric compressor-less cooling technology for quiet operation
  • Controls with 8 presets ensures ideal storing and serving temperatures
  • LED display; 3 removable chrome racks; interior lighting
  • Measures 21-1/2 by 11 by 16 inches; 3-year limited warranty

Good:

* Nice looking, well built

* Digital display with presets for easy temperature setting

* Interior light

Bad:

* Constantly powering on and off every 2 minutes for 20-30 seconds

* Noisy fan while powered on. Louder than a full-sized fridge.

* In the event of a power failure, the unit defaults to the coldest setting (45F) which is a more drastic temperature range than if I left my wine on the counter.

Update: My electric bill went up 157% after plugging in this unit. I would reduce this to zero stars, but Amazon won't let me change my rating.

Buy Cuisinart CWC-600 Private Reserve 6-Bottle Stainless-Steel Countertop Wine Cellar Now

I purchased this unit and, contrary to the other reviewers, am relatively happy with it.The fan noise is louder than expected and you certainly wouldn't want this in a quiet area of the house, but its not objectionable in an already noisy area like the kitchen.

Also, I'd like to clear the air about some of the claims against this unit. Many people are complaining about the power usage, mostly because they hear the fan going off and on a lot.The problem is that people are equating this to a refrigerator which would use a ton of electricity if it cycled on and off this much. But a fridge uses a compressor, and this unit uses a thermoelectric cooling system. Its a VERY different system.

I have a power meter that measures the power usage of an appliance over time. This unit uses 15 watts when the fan is off and about 75 watts when its on.I have it set to 57 degrees F, and my house is at 74 degrees. The amount of cycling I get translates to a cost of about $35 a year to run the thing (at 10 cents a kilowatt hour).Seems pretty reasonable to me.

In a fridge, the ENTIRE system (compressor and fans) cycles on and off based on the interior temperature.Since the interior temperature is fairly stable, it doesn't have to turn on and on much.

I'm not an expert on thermoelectric cooling, but my limited knowledge leads me to believe that its a continuous and proportional cooling system. What that means is that its always electronically moving heat from the inside of the unit to a heat sink on the outside. The amount of heat moved depends on the interior temperature, the exterior temperature, and a voltage setting (you set the voltage when you select the temperature on the control panel).

So the fan on the outside is turned off and on just to cool the heat sink on the back.Since the heat sink heats up and cools down quickly, the fan turns off and on frequently to keep it cool. The fan will be on more if your house is warmer. The "cooling" is always happening whether the fan is on or not. That's why it uses 15 watts when the fan is off.

But, and this is the important part, the fan cycling on and off does NOT indicate a compressor or other cooling element turning off and on, so its not using a ton of electricity. Its just the fan.

Now don't get me wrong, the fan cycling on and off can be annoying depending on the location in the house. But don't mistake that for gobbling up electricity.

Other than the fan noise, its a nice little unit.I measured the temperature inside and compared it to the control panel setting and its spot-on.For most people, if you want to use the lowest setting, 45 degrees, you're better off just using your normal fridge since it should be set at around 40 degrees. But if you're really looking for cellar temperatures of 55 to 65 degrees, this does a great job.

Cuisinart claims this operates quietly. This is not true. The unit has a very noisy fan. The fan comes on every few seconds, runs for a few seconds and then shuts off for a few seconds. This cycle continuosly repeats and needless to say it is very noticeable and annoying. I've followed the directions and tried all the presets but it doesn't seem to matter. What a disappointment from what I thought was a reputable company.

Want Cuisinart CWC-600 Private Reserve 6-Bottle Stainless-Steel Countertop Wine Cellar Discount?

As many of the other reviews say, this unit is not a quality unit.Despite following all instructions the unit runs for 30sec, stops for 30sec and then repeats itself. This is very annoying and I would assume a big drain on electriciy. It has not mattered how cool the room is, where I position the unit, or even what setting I set it to.Even in a 67deg room, the unit runs constantly to keep the internal temp at 57deg.We got this as a gift from my parents, and I called the company to ask if it should be running so much. They asked me to send it back, which cost almost $60 because it had to be specially packaged by UPS to be sure it didn't break. We got a new unit and it still runs the same way.I haven't been able to get the company to refund the money I spent to ship the first unit back and they keep giving me the run around, acting like it is something that I am doing to make the unit run constantly.Very disappointed in a company that I thought was high quality.

This is my 2nd attempt at writing a review of this product. We were genuinely excited when we purchased this particular unit. That excitement quickly faded as we learned that it has serious design flaws.

1st:The troubleshooting section states:

The inside temperature does not seem correct The room may be too hot. Example:if the ambient temperature is 80*F or higher, the unit can have difficulty chilling adequately on the white wine setting.

The white wine setting should be about 45*F according to the users manual.Having said that, I took the temperature where the unit is.It is 78*F (I live in Southern AZ where it is hot for 8 months out of 12).I first tried to set the wine cooler temp to 52*F.No dice, the display continued to flash indicating that it was not reaching that temp.

I tried setting it to 58*F.No dice. The display continued to flash.I tried setting it to 65*F.Still no dice.

The other major problem is that as others have reported, the unit will build up quite a bit of condensation on the inside bottom of the unit.It built up so much that it spilled out onto the counter where we have the unit.

I emailed Cuisinart about the problems.I even took a picture of the unit with a digital thermometer on top of the unit clearly showing the room temp to be 78*F.The unit display was blank indicating that it was flashing meaning that it could not reach the set temperature.I had the unit set to 65*F.

I went back and forth with their customer service. They kept giving me canned nonsense answers, and did not read my original email at all. After many back and forth, they finally agreed to replace the unit.

However, after reading some of the other reviews, I am NOT confident that the replacement unit will be any better. If it has problems, I am going to demand a full refund.I doubt that I will get one, but I will demand it anyway.

It is a shame that the unit is so problematic. We have a Cuisinart knife set, and could not be happier with it.The same goes for my Cuisinart coffee maker.
