Vector VEC-222 Mini Console Cooler/Warmer with 9 Can Capacity

Vector VEC-222 Mini Console Cooler/Warmer with 9 Can Capacity
  • Heats to 120 degrees and cools to 40 below ambient
  • On/off cool & heat switch
  • 7' power cord
  • 2 cup holders
  • Rugged & long lasting

I bought the vector cooler warmer (16 can version, same item), and tried it out. The metal element inside got cold, but it couldn't chill a small bottle of water after 3 hoursno way it was40 degrees belwo my room temp of 75 degrees. No wonder this thing is always on clearance. It did a little better on metal cans of soda directly touching the element, but not by much. The manual says for best results the food should be put in cold, or with an icepack, but as soon as it's shut off theres no insulation to keep the food cold, so the food quickly reaches room temp, according to the manual! Besides if I have to put in pre-chilled food andicepacks Im beter off using my insulated cooler which works, and is much more space efficient! Plus, the cooler only ostensibly brings the temp down to up to 40 degrees below ambient temp ( after 3 hours). I guess in a car where the temps go up to 130 degrees in the sun it would keep the food at 90 or so. I bought it forfifteen dol. on clearance , but returned it today. It simply wasn't worth the price. I would stay clear of this product. The only exeption I can think of is for someone who needs it only for metal cans of soda or beer and can wait several hours for a cool drink, although a cooler would still be more practical and cost effective.

I bought this because I have medication that needs to be refrigerated.I've used it for water and also used it to keep things warm.Mine gets very cold very quick and heats up so quick I had to actually take a bag out because I was afraid it would burn the plastic bag I put in.So I turned it off and it kept the items warm till I got home which was over an hour.As far as cold, I only use an icepack if I'm going to leave stuff in the car for a couple hours.I forgot it one time and left my water in overnight till about 2:00 the next afternoon and the icepack was only melted about halfway.I'd say that's pretty good.

I bought this cooler in preparation for a cross-country roadtrip this coming summer, with a 2-yr-old who loves his milk. I also bought the ac wall adapter (sold separately) so that we could keep the milk safe and cold overnight in a hotel in case there's no mini-fridge in our room. I sure am glad I bought both! Before we even left for our trip, our fridge at home konked out. We had to throw out lots of food, but we were able to keep enough milk cold and fresh for our little guy by keeping it in this cooler. It was plugged in for 48 straight hours, and worked like a champ. Needless to say, the milk was already cold when we put it in there, or it wouldv'e been down the drain for the milk too. Which brings me to this point: nowhere in the literature does the manufacturer claim that this product is a chiller. Of course it won't chill things that are at room temp, that's not what its made for. It won't chill warm water any more than it will cook a cold sandwich. But for the purpose it is advertised, to keep cold things cold, I found it to do a great job. It really came through for us in a pinch.

I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas. He is a truck driver & brings his lunch on the road with him everyday.Usually, he brings sandwiches & other things that can be kept at room temperature.Well, he's so happy with this product because now he can bring a larger variety of items, such as grilled cheese sandwiches, pasta leftovers & hot dogs.He said it works great & keeps everything nice & hot.He hasn't had a need for the cooler part yet, but the warmer makes it all worth the purchase!

Proctor Silex 33040 4-Quart Round Slow Cooker

Proctor Silex 33040 4-Quart Round Slow CookerAnd that is about what it is worth.I purchased a small appliance and this came free with it from Amazon. After using it a few times I will return to my other crock pot.The lid is designed so the moisture is captured on the outer ring, and the lid tends to "float" on the moisture. When something is cooking the lid will start vibrating as if there were an earthquake.

The "Keep Warm" setting should be labeled "Overcook".Not only did it keep it warm, but it kept it so hot that the contents overcooked. The Keep Warm setting is extremely hot, nearly as hot as the High setting.

Crock pots are not like they were in the initial years; due to worries about food safety, I've noticed newer crock pots spike the heat at the end of the cycle on "low." My guess is that this is to keep the food sufficiently warm during cooking to avoid bacterial growth. This pot keeps food on "warm" very hot. I had a cheese sauce set on warm to keep it after the initial cooking phase, well, it was cooking still on warm and got browned.

This is inexpensive and plain (no funky graphics) and the inner liner pulls out for easy cleaning; something some crock pots in this price range don't have. For a crockpot to use to keep mulled cider warm, cocktail meatballs simmering, or soup hot for serve-yourself-whenever, this is not a bad choice. Or it makes a good smaller crock--my regular crock is rather large and not always suitable for one-or-two person meals. On the whole, this pot has its uses and is reasonably priced enough for occasional purposes.

I normally am only cooking for myself and my fiance, so this crock pot tends to do just fine.I have another one that is much larger but I barely use it!This crock pot is super cheap, and works fairly well considering the price. It tends to cook a little higher temperature than it should sometimes stuff gets a little overcooked (depending on what you're making!).

The pot is also easy to clean. The liner inside pulls out and rinses off pretty easily... so far I haven't had many issues with it.For the price, I really can't complain too much.It makes a great crock pot for someone just starting out on their own, or as a gift to a college student or someone getting their first apartment/home.It has its faults, but overall its not a bad appliance.

I love cooking meat in a crockpot because it breaks apart, but no matter what temp I try cooking at with this thing, even keep warm, it comes out like shoe leather. It cooks so hot the lid bounces up and down and the liquid boils.I don't recommend this.

I got this crockpot a few weeks ago. Made one recipie in it so far a chicken dish with carrots/potatoes/water chestnuts in Italian dressing (an internet recipie). Came out quite good. I did have a little problem with boil over where liquid got under the china crockpot and burned onto the metal base and onto the table think it was my fault for putting too much liquid in. With a bit of scrubbing and orange cleaner, all the burnt stuff came off and it looks like new.

I think my family will enjoy this very much.

EdgeStar 12 Lbs. Built-In Ice Maker - Stainless Steel Door

EdgeStar 12 Lbs. Built-In Ice Maker - Stainless Steel Door
  • Refrigerated Freezer Compartment:Ice never melts meaning no need for a drain
  • The black body and stainless steel door fit any modern kitchen or home bar
  • Includes 1/4 Water Line and Ice Scoop:
  • Meets ADA Height Requirements:Standing at 25 1/4" h, this unit is ADA compliant

I've had two of these so far.. They work great, noisy as all get-out, but die after about two years.. So get the extended warranty, so when it breaks and nobody can economically fix it, you get your money back from the warranty company. Then you can get a new one..And do it again..It uses a regular refrigerator-type ice maker, but for some reason makes six times the ice as the one in my refrigerator, and in the same room..Other than the noise, and short life-span, it's great..Oh, it's not frost-free, so you'll have shut it off and defrost it during the high humidity season.

Whatever you do, do not, I repeat, do not order this machine. It has been nothing but problems from day one, and my husband is a mechanic who was always fixing it.

After he fixed all the smaller problems and the warranty expired, he found out there was an internal leak which is a huge problem and would cost more to fix than what it is worth. So now it just holds the ice we buy from the store!

I hooked up the icemaker into my reverse osmosis water supply under the sink.Since reading the reviews I replaced the plastic nut on the water line input with a brass nut and compression fitting.Nice and tight, no leaks.

Plugged the unit in and turned it on.Nice and quiet operation compared to our old counter top icemaker. After ten minuets of operation there was a puddle of water under the icemaker. The water came from the water shutoff solenoid inside the icemaker.I had to remove the back grate, and push the palstic tubing into the plastic fitting tighter than when it was originally assembled.Obviously this icemaker was not tested at the factory or this defect would have presented itself.

After I repared the icemakers water system, i let it run overnight. The yield was less than impressive. With the icemaker running for about 12 hours, it produced ice that filled the bin by about 1/3.Enough for three soda drinks in large tumblers.I expect that we will out use the available ice each day this summer.

If we use the icemaker to its yield capacity each day, it will be running constantly. At 350 watts of power while running, that's some pretty expensive ice. That power consumption is the equivalent of my refrigerator / freezer running 24 hours a day.

So in summary, It's better than the countertop icemaker that I was previously using because I don't have to manually fill it with water. It produces about 1/3 the ice yield as the countertop icemaker. It uses 100 watts more power than the countertop icemaker. It runs much quieter, and the ice remains in a freezer compartment, so it doesn't melt like the ice in a countertop icemaker.Overall, it's nothing to write home about. The customer should not have to repair a brand new item to get it working the first time. The only reason that I repaired it was because I did not want to pay to ship it back for a simple repair.

Just installed this last weekend. First, took the advice of others on the internet and went to the hardware store to buy an ice maker installation kit that included a copper water tube and compression nuts. The plastic one that came with the machine was a joke!

Started making ice, but only making 8 small cubes at a time. Did a little research on the net, and found another who had the same problem, and how it was resolved with adjusting the size of the cubes. Did the same thing, and started getting 12 decent size cubes each production cycle. Nothing about this at all in the instruction booklet that came with the machine.

Makes a fair amount of ice, but no where near the 12 pounds that the manufacturer claims it will produce. Probably more like 6-7 pounds of ice per day.

Not a bad machine, but not great either. The biggest down side is the terrible instruction booklet that comes with it. If it wasn't for the internet, I would have sent it back since the instructions were useless as to how to remedy the ice production amounts.

I have be all over the internet and town to look for a good refrigerator. the one i had for the last fourteen years is starting to leak and break down; my husband and i knew that we needed one but which one? i went to sears and we found some nice refrigerators but, they wanted alot for a warranty while the other appliance stores were cheaper. we ended up at home depot and it was on sale at a great price. i have always wanted to upgrade but did not know what features i wanted for instance i knew that i wanted an ice maker, and a water dispenser. with all the new technology i have trouble decideing especially at the different prices and now there are the french doors and the four doors with the $3000.00 price tags. it was like buying a house again. we found it at home depot for under $1200.00 with alot of the feature of the pricey ones. the second draw in the frigde is smaller than it looks check it out before you buy if that is a deal breaker. i love my refrigerator lots of room and storage at eye level and i am 5'7.

Sunpentown WC-1682 Thermoelectric 16-Bottle Wine Cooler

Sunpentown WC-1682 Thermoelectric 16-Bottle Wine Cooler
  • 16-bottle wine cooler with quiet, non-vibrating thermoelectric technology
  • Touch-sensitive control panel; LED display; adjustable thermostat
  • 3 slide-out chrome shelves; soft interior lighting; double-pane glass door
  • Recessed handle; freestanding; adjustable leveling legs for balance; ETL-approved
  • Measures 19 by 17 by 20 inches; 1-year limited warranty

Purchased the WC-1682.Received the unit promptly and the unit itself was in good shape.Nice looking unit, everything fit well and plenty of space for the wine.

Pro's

-The unit is reasonably priced.

-It presents well.

-Runs quietly.

-Cooling system is efficient.

Con's

Like all of these thermoelectric systems, it runs continuously. No getting away from this particular design and my guess is all of the manufacturers use the same guts.Given that these are relatively inexpensive, they must save some money by not putting in a relay to actually shut down the unit when it reaches the proper temperature. There may be other reasons for not stopping the cooling and fan completely, but it is not obvious to this engineer why they wouldn't do so except costs for putting the fan on a separate circuit and to keep the fan running for air circulation. An extra few components would be required to separate the fan control from the thermoelectric cooler. The fan and cooling systems slow down significantly when they reach the proper temperature, but neither actually stops.Hence they are inefficient.

The unit itself is poorly calibrated. The unit I received runs 7 degrees hotter than indicated by the display.I set it initially at 65 degrees and it was actually running at 72 degrees. I didn't run a complete set of tests to see the variation. The temperature was calibrated against a Fluke 971.There is no method or adjustments on the board to adjust this calibration. You simply have to live with it.Also, this will limit the lower temperature range since it can't be set below it's rated temperature.

The unit cannot be kept in a cool room.Since the thermoelectric cooling unit runs continuously, if the room gets at or near the temperature set point, then the temperature in the unit will drift downward because the unit cannot shut off.For example, if the room temperature is 66 degrees, and the unit is set at 65 degrees, the temperature will actually drift down to around 59 degrees or so because the cooling system never shuts down.

So far, the unit has been reliable and quiet.Minimum of movable components (only two fans).I would recommend the unit, with the caveat that anyone purchasing this separately calibrate the unit. Also, if you need to run the unit at or near the lowest temperature settings, this would not be recommended due the significant difference between the settings and the actual temperature.

There are no controls for temperature calibration. Once powered, the unit only cools below ambient temperatures of the room. THe ambient temp in my house is 68F,the internal thermometer of the wine cooler registers at about 41F and does not deviate this despite re-setting to 55F. I would not recommend this to anyone

Plenty of room for Pinot and tall napa cab bottles. In the month since I own the cooler it began by cycling between the set temperature and one degree lower then after about two weeks it cycles between one and two degrees below the set temp. I suspect thermometer is not that accurate. It is all in the correct range for red wine and probably not that critical. It's quiet and unobtrusive. Overall a good value. I would buy it again given my experience so far.

We where looking forward to this wine cooler, we ordered with express shipping, 2-3 days, but the cooler never arrived. Amazon promptly refunded our money, but we never found out why we did not receive the cooler?

In the meantime I received a replacement part for our Vinotemp Cooler, their service dept. sucks, but the cooler works now, let's see for how long.

Sorry, can't tell you about the Sunpentown cooler.

Watts Water Technologies QCK-25 Ice Maker KitSaved a lot of money over a plumber's asking price to connect water to the fridge. Works as advertised, no leaks after install per instructions. Easy to do for the average handy man/woman.

Replaced an existing fridge supply line valve so I could move it to a differet location in the basement.Worked perfectly.Copper on one end, PEX on the other end, and small PEX that came with the kit into the small end and ran that up the floor and to the fridge.Easy to install with no problems whatsoever.
