Purchased this for a medical research facility to store frozen medications and blood samples. In less than an hour the freezer was at -20 C.It now stays at roughly -30 C with very few temperature fluctuations. It is very small inside 1.1 cu ft, which is what we needed because we have limited space. It is quiet, light and attractive. You can switch the side the way the door opens. The lock is a standard refrigerator door lock.Read Best Reviews of EdgeStar 1.1 Cu. I'm soon going to start building a custom Tear Drop Trailer From scratch. The kitchen will be the major focus, it will be my own version and totally custom to what I want in a camping kitchen. With a lot of thought and research, I felt as though I wanted a freezer in it rather than a fridge, I can build in a nice cooler as a fridge, keep things frozen and produce ice for the cooler.Researching a fridge of this size just was not worth the space. Not very dependable for just food. The cooler will be 3 times in vol.
So, if your looking for a freezer of this size, this is it, it will not get warm enough to act as a fridge on low, it is still at zero degrees.
This is exactly what I needed for my project. I can fill it full of ice cube trays and have ice in less than 30 min. Probably 12 trays, thats a bag of ice in the woods. I also have a portable ice maker. So, this would be a backup if needed. At high, it will go to a neg 20 degrees. Running a 12 volt system with ac inverters, space is a must. This is an awesome FREEZER, not a fridge combo.

In April, the bottom compartment started to beep on and off with the temperature light and interior light flashing, periodically over the past month.Unfortunately, in May it started to beep non-stop and the temp control got VERY cold!Sounds like the same issue as the previous commenter.
I have been attempting to contact Wine Enthusiast Customer Service for the past 2 weeks and I have never received a call or e-mail back.Very, very POOR service.Very, very disappointing! Now I am stuck with a wine cooler that does not work.Very frustrating.
Update as of 7/18/12:I reached out again to them today and spoke with a wonderful Customer Service representative, who immediately told me that they would send a replacement for the unit.It is on back order, so I will be waiting until late August, but at least it was finally resolved professionally.

I received this fridge as a gift. It's glitchy from the very start. The touch panel on the top would not register after 10 min of inactivity (but works again after unplugging and replugging). 3 months later, the bottom compartment started beeping every 5 seconds with the display and interior light flashing non-stop. pending a replacement.--
update:
I called up Wine Enthusiast and they sent me a replacement. The replacement works like a charm. no more crazy beeping all night long. The best part of this whole event was that I got to drink some of the wines that would have otherwise been sitting around :-)

I am writing this review because of my extreme dissatisfaction with the 24 Bottle Wine Enthusiast wine refrigeration product line. My husband and I got this as a present for our wedding a year agoWe were so excited with the product that we raved to everyone about it. The following year it started beeping incessantly and then the bottom of the fridge would no longer keep the wine cool.We called wine enthusiast and purchased a circuit board which was supposed to once replaced stop the beeping and get the temp working again. What they failed to mention was you need a degree in electrical engineering to replace the circuit board. We had some one come in an replace the circuit board which some wires had to be stripped and re-soldered back onto the circuit board.Needless to say it never worked again. We called (WE) to see if there was anything else we can do and even emailed their management team @csmanager@wineenthusiast.net to see if they could help. This is $300 of a gift down the drain. There should be at least some sort of implied warranty. My recommendation to anyone purchasing this unit would be to get a 2 year extended warranty. We are disappointed in the quality of the item and have vowed to never purchase again from Wine Enthusiast. We are also warning any new customers and all of our wine-loving friends in the wine classes we attend to not purchase the products as well. Disappointing!Want Wine Enthusiast Silent 24 Bottle Two-Temp Touchscreen Wine Refrigerator Discount?
Shop around.Better prices on the Net, but watch the shipping (free at Costco where I got it and free shipping for $229).First fridge arrived with a broken hinge for the top door; plastic was cracked and broken off so the door would not stay up.Luckily Amazon has an easy exchange policy so UPS picked up the package on my front door, easy as can be.The next fridge arrived with 3 dents on the back side and the top door was intact, but it still slants at a downward angle from the hinge site. Both doors slant actually.Very poor quality products, poor craftsmanship. On the plus side the fridge is quiet and pretty; other than the lopsided doors.BUY SOMETHING OTHER THAN WINE ENTHUSIAST.REALLY.Supco Replacement for Samsung DA29-00020B Filter, 2-Pack

Very light weight and roomy on the inside, I just love the shelf room on the doors. I had some complications putting some parts on, however the freezer is very roomy, just love it. The color adds dimensions to the kitchen and makes it a more inviting room, maybe i should have tried to get it in pink.Avanti AC/DC Superconductor Refrigerator, Model# SHP1712SDC
- Features full-range temperature control, soft interior light with on/off switch and auto defrost
- Tall bottle rack on door holds a 2-liter bottle
- Adjustable, removable shelf
- Stainless steel door has reversible swing
- Includes 5-ft. AC power cord and 6-ft. DC power cord
I put a remote temperature sensor in the fridge and let it cool to 32 degrees (cold as it will get on high) then put a 20 oz pop bottle in that was full of 80F degree water. It took 3 hours to cool to below 40 degrees and it actually warmed the air temp of the fridge up to 42 at one point. If you put a lot of room temp stuff in there I imagine it would take at least 24 hours to cool it all.
Pros:
-Lightweight (really easy to move it only weighs like 23 pounds)
-Efficient (pulls less than 100 watts and keeps stuff cold)
-AD/DC modes is nice
-No moving parts except for heatsink fan and coldsink fan.
-Lots of space, due to the lightweight frame/insulation and lack of compressor what you see is practically what you get.
Cons:
-Lightweight (don't drop it or you'll definitely add to the dents from shipping, also the insulation can't be that great at that thickness)
-Not very powerful, it will take quite a while to cool things down and cannot handle high air temps or direct sunlight.
-As other reviewers have mentioned you can count on it being damaged in shipping.Ours arrived with one of the back corners crushed and a couple good sized dents in the rear panel. It also had apparently jostled loose the internal AC connections.
-Made in china, and it feels like it too.
Summary: It works pretty well for its intended purpose and although it feels cheap and likely to breakdown luckily there really isn't that much that is likely to break since there is no compressor and the only moving parts are two small fans.If you can't accept cosmetic damage from shipping definitely don't bother.I intend to run it on DC to store products at a farmers market, I'll update the review if it craps out on me.
Update 7/6/2011: It's starting to get rather warm here in southern Idaho and the fridge has a hard time keeping up with air temperatures at/over 80s.As expected you certainly have to be careful to keep it out of direct sunlight or it'll turn into an easy bake oven.Somewhat disappointing because I intended to use it outdoors but if you're using it somewhere that is shaded and climate controlled you'll be fine.

I have used this fridge once in my new custom goat trailer with living quarters. Worked very well on DC power in the trailer and AC in the house for a test run. My only complaint is that the product was dented when shipped. We determined the dents would not effect operation and therefore not worth sending back to manufacturer. The unit runs fine, just the housing was dinged.Read Best Reviews of Avanti AC/DC Superconductor Refrigerator, Model# SHP1712SDC Here
I bought this refrigerator with the Idea I would use it in a grid collapse for my insulin. I have solar panels and big batteries. If you are looking for a refrigerator for your insulin, don't buy this one it will quit on you, then you can wait two days and it will start working again after you unplugged it. It is a good party refrigerator used intermittently but it is not reliable temperature control. Buy a small unit with a compressor instead of this for medication temperature control.

Just received our Avanti fridge for one of our truck drivers. Like everyone said, it came with some dented corners and beat up box but it seems to work fine in the house on an A/C test run. For the price, seems like a great little fridge. We'll see how it holds up to the highway miles.Avanti AC/DC Superconductor Refrigerator, Model# SHP1712SDCThe 1st Avanti refrigerator I bought did not work in the cigarette lighter charger and was returned. They sent out another one and this one also does not work in any cigarette lighter charger. I have been trying to return it
but am getting the runaround with Wonder Electronics. I would not recommend this product to ANYONE.

The unit looks excellent installed, and the two pull-out shelves shown in the pictures are stain-grade wood. I haven't stained mine to match our cabinetry yet, but it is on my to-do list! Using the fridge is as easy as setting the temperature dial, deciding what units you want the temperature displayed in (centigrade or fahrenheit) and loading it up.
So far the unit has kept temperatures right at the design spec at maximum cool. The cold section remains 37 (98% of the time), the white wine drawer (there's only one of these) stays at 48, and the red wine section which is one pull out shelf and one crappy wire shelf at the bottom that comes out but not easily stays a nice 57 degrees. I have not put in my own thermometer to check the accuracy of the displayed temperatures, but by going on feel alone the wines and beverages are at the correct temperatures.
The bottom shelf design is what keeps me from giving this unit 5 stars. It would have been so nice had Kitchenaid designed the fridge so that the bottom shelf pulled out like the two wood-front shelves shown in the picture. The two wood shelves slide out nicely on rails. The bottom shelf rests on the bottom of the unit, has rubber pieces on the sides, and is a pain in the rear end to pull out when loaded with wine bottles. There are two 'stops' on each side of the bottom that have to be overcome to get the shelf out far enough to read the bottle and/or get the wine out easily. Bad design, and really one of only two things I can find fault with.
The second issue, which may or may not be by design, is that the temperature will rise on it's own (without using the fridge or adding room temperature beverages to it) to approximately 43 degrees in the cold section. It does this periodically almost as if it's a normal cycle to remove moisture. It doesn't stay at this temperature for very long, but it does do this on a somewhat regular basis. That being said, 98% of the time the cold section is 37 degrees plus 1 or 2 degrees occasionally.
When loading the unit with canned drinks, wines or other beverages after a store run, it really doesn't take very long to cool things back down. The temperature will noticeably rise for a short time with the warmer items, but not for long.
As I stated above, we're going on almost two years, and the fridge has been a wonderful, useful addition. I waffled back and forth about getting a wine refrigerator or beverage center, and I'm very glad we went with the beverage center option.
If it keeps going another year or more without needing repairs I'll be happy. I have read a lot of negative reviews on wine refrigerators. Reliability does seem to be an issue, even with some Kitchenaid models. However, not even Viking or $3000 brands are without their share of negative reviews. Crossing my fingers that we'll get many more years use out of this great little unit.
I'd recommend this to anyone refinishing a kitchen or simply adding an area for a bar. I would not use this outside even under a covered porch. It's simply not designed to withstand the elements in that way.
Good luck in your search, and if it ends here I don't think you'll be disappointed!
Update: December 3, 2012. The Beverage center is still performing well. The temperature of the cold section stays between 37 and 39 most of the time, but still rises to 41 for a short time every few days. Still pleased with the purchase, and I'd still buy it again.

The inside cavity is large and very well lighted.Very convenient. The front panel is not exactly easy to read, and to decipher what the buttons are and what they are for.The exhaust fan is reasonably quiet, but does not draw very well. There are minimal descriptions--just a flimsy 6 page handout type paper-on what the microwave is,what it does, and how to operate it.We called Maytag customer service, and there is no other manual or instructions available.I would not recommend it.Want Maytag MMV1164WS 1.6 Cu. This microwave is very sturdy. The door sounds solid when closed and the oven is working well. When it arrived there was no visible damage to the packaging but significant denting of the back left outside of the cabinet. The interior was not damaged so the installer straightened the cover as well as he could and installed it as planned. When installed that damage was concealed. The company that shipped it to me responded to my report of damage and gave me a 10% credit on the purchase price even though I could not substantiate it with a photo as requested.(I could not justify hiring the installer to come back and uninstall it.)There is also a very small ding in the ss cover near the controls panel. My suggestion is that they doublecheck their packaging procedures but I am pleased with the looks and the operation of the microwave itself. The product comes like the description says, it works perfect and it arrives on time, no problems with any thing
