Supco Replacement for UKF8001 Refrigerator Filter, 3-Pack

Supco Replacement for UKF8001 Refrigerator Filter, 3-PackI researched the net and Amazon for the best value in a water filter for my Maytag refrigerator. The best value by far was the Aquafresh WF 295 water filter that is a replacement for the OEM Maytag UKF8001. I was able to purchase the Aquafresh filters in a three pack through Amazon from DeepDiscountco. The cost of the three pack was the best value by far and the cost per filter was less than half of the UKF8001. DeepDiscountco shipped for free and there was no tax applied. What a deal!!! The filters arrived quickly and I was surprised at how easy it was to change the filter in my Maytag. The Aquafresh filter fits and works just like the original UKF8001. The owner of DeepDiscountco sent an email thanking me for the purchase and telling me to contact him if there were any issues (there were none) with a promise of a quick resolution by make me satisfied. What more can you ask for in customer service? I don't usually take the time to write reviews but I was so very happy with this purchase I could not help but share this info with others.Aquafresh Replacement for UKF8001 Refrigerator Filter, 3-Pack

Very disappointed, less than a week after first installation I can already taste clorine in our water and ice. The original PUR filter went through 3 300 gallon cycles before I finally bought these filters and I never tasted clorine whatsoever. Live and learn, I was turned off by the cost of the PUR filters and tried to save some money. Next time I'll buy the PUR filters, but I guess I'm stuck with the clorine for two more filter replacements.

I bought these instead of the OEM to save some money. The water just does not taste the same as the OEM Maytag brand.Nice product, fits nice, but I would spend the extra money and get the OEM Maytag filters instead.

Koolatron 14-Quart Soft-Sided Electric Travel Cooler, Dark Grey

Koolatron 14-Quart Soft-Sided Electric Travel Cooler, Dark Grey
  • Soft-sided electric travel cooler with cigarette-lighter car plug-in
  • Adjustable shoulder strap; external zippered pocket for storage
  • Cools to 16.5°C (30°F) below ambient temperature;
  • Holds 14 quarts or up to twenty 12-ounce cans; holds 2-liter bottles upright
  • Measures 10 by 11 by 13.5 inches; weighs 4 pounds

I use this in my car for drinks or to keep small items of food cold on the way home from long trips to Costco, etc. It's durable, has many pockets, and works great. If you have more room in your vehicle and need more "cold storage" for your trips, get the bigger one.

The only drawback, and I assume this is for all of these type devices, is if you leave it plugged in your car/boat, etc. for long periods of time while your vehicle is OFF, it will drain your battery fairly fast. The longest I've left it plugged in while my car was off was about 3 hours. But I did this repeatedly and it eventually caused the premature death of my car battery in Dec 07.

HOWEVER, THIS said, I have an 05' mid-size SUV and this was the original battery so that also may have contributed.

After receiving this product I found it defective. Because I was moving and VERY short on time oh... and quite handy, I decided to open it up and see if I could do the repair by myself. I found the cheap internal construction to be the issue and cleared the fan from rubbing by modifying the hard foam frame a bit which was causing the fan to rub and sounded like a playing card close-pinned to a bicycle wheel when it ran. This caused it not to get cold obviously. I managed the repairs only to find that on the road, the current draw was very high on my TDI VWs little battery and it took some time for the device to cool down internally but it did within about an hour. On my long driving trip from LA to Wisconsin I eventuallyjust unplugged it and bought some ice and threw it in.

The device would have possibly been fine I think in a larger car with a stronger alternator and battery BTW. I also bought the battery saver. This did a bit better but I found it heated up the cabin as well as the cooler did by itself just too much on hot days in the summer. Might have worked better in the winter or somehow putting it up on my roof rack rather than having it inside a little bug with two people and a dog. I would not recommend this or any device like it for a small car as configured.

The cooler won't get anything cold mine only went down to 50 (in a 70 degree room) and it took many hoursto get there with anything in it.(It was blowing 46 degree air after 2 hours). And it warms up quickly 14 degrees in only an hour and 1/2.

Add to that a continuous whir noise, so you don't want to bring it into your motel room and leave it plugged it and the battery load which occurs if you leave it in the car overnight, this is a limited use device (in my humble opinion).

This arrived yesterday and I did a "dry run" with it.First off, I had no clue, for some odd reason, that it was also a heated device. So, imagine my surprise during the first test when the inside was getting hot, lol.I then read further and found that if one flips it to the blue side, it cools, the red side is for heat.I got an adapter since I will not be using it in a vehicle. At any rate, we did as instructed and gave it a test empty. It was cold within about ten to fifteen minutes. There are plenty of pockets and I was afraid they wouldn't get cold but they did.For the price and with Amazon Prime, I just couldn't pass this one up. It has much more room than the hard sided one that I also looked at. Now, I'm going to really use this soon when I camp and I might do an additional review at that time.As far as I can tell, I think this was an excellent purchase and would recommend it highly.

OK, I've now officially tested this product during an exceptionally hot and humid weekend of camping and it worked great. What I did, since I knew that it was going to be super hot with very high humidity, was follow the instructions, or recommendation, of another reviewer.I put a hard ice pack in the bottom and also, a Gator Ade bottle, with frozen water, in the unit.I just used this for Gator Ade as it is just too hot to eat, lol, and it worked fine.I made sure to keep it in the shade at all times. When I got home, the bottle filled with ice, still was pretty frozen. It wasn't totally frozen, of course, but, it did still have a huge chunk of ice within.I think this is going to work just fine.Plus, it wasn't loud at all. I literally had to put my hand by the fan to make sure it was running. I give this a huge thumbs up and would recommend to others.Come fall, I probably won't do the ice pack method but, with the humidity we have been having, it would have been silly not to use the ice too.My Gator Ade was actually too cold.I also left said drink out and it got warm, of course. I then put it back in the cooler and it was super cold within about an hour or a bit more.I hope this helps others. Oh, I almost forgot to mention something. Since my van is a 1997 and the cig lighter hasn't worked in years, I bought that adapter deal that turns it into an electric device. That worked fine.Just be careful as the power pack deal gets pretty hot. I literally hung mine over a box fan that I took along and, obviously, it kept it cool.

The Koolatron does not provide any additional cooling capacity or ability to keep cool beyond what any other insulated bag would do, and is not as cold as a bag that has had a frozen ice pack added to it.And the manufacturer recommends that it not be plugged in for more than 4 hours at a time, which eliminates use as a day-long cooling container.I do not believe the capability of this container warrants the expense.

12 Bottle Thermoelectric Wine Cooler

12 Bottle Thermoelectric Wine Cooler
  • Quiet & vibration free thermoelectric cooling system
  • Digital temperature display
  • Compact storage for 12 bottles of wine
  • LED interior lighting
  • 3 chrome plated pull out shelves

After a lot of research I decided on the New Air AW-121E 12 bottle wine cooler. There are a lot of coolers out on the market and most of them have reputations for poor performance. New Air seemed to have the highest ratings so I went with it. The third party seller Air & Water Inc is great. Free ground shipping was a nice touch, shipped very fast. Now for the cooler:

Installation was pretty simple, plug it in and screw on the door handle. The screws on the handle are fine, but the holes are not perfectly designed for them to be screwed in by hand (unless you're really strong) but they went in smoothly with an electric drill. I turned on the cooler and set it to my desired temperature 60 degrees F to keep red wine. Some bottles actually suggest what temperature to store the particular wine at. If you're not sure, just ask at you're local wine shop and they'll be happy to tell you.

It took about two hours for the cooler to get to the temperature I set and I confirmed it with a thermometer (impressive since it started at 85 degrees). The machine itself makes no real noise. If you listen really hard and there are no other sounds in the room you might hear a slight hiss of the fan, but you really have to try to hear it. This thing is quieter then my 20x more expensive regular fridge/freezer. I have yet to find a 750ml bottle of red that does not fit. Some of the fatter bottles stick in the shelf a bit and fit better on the bottom. Since I bought it for red wine its not really a concern, but it probably would not fit champagne both in girth and length of bottle. I haven't tried it, so I can't be sure. You might be able to fit one at the bottom at an angle. The stainless steel looks very nice and the blue LED is a cool feature. Overall if you are looking to store 12 regular sized bottles of red or white, you can't get a better product for the money. Not sure on the longevity, but New-Air seems to have a reputation for lasting a good long while.

Pros:

Excellent price

Easy Set Up

Silent Running

Attractive Look, LED for nice presentation

Great for a Small Wine Collection

Cons:

Will not accomodate super fat or long bottles

Three shelves so the last three bottles just sit on the bottom, I'm fine with this, but it might bother others.

Update

I have had this cooler for about 4 months now and I absolutely love it. So much so that I bought a second one to store my growing collection of white wines. They look very nice next to each other. It took a little longer to get down to the temperature I wanted (51 degrees), about 8 hours which was still impressive as the room was around 80 degrees. Two of these is cheaper then one of those dual zone fridges, and they also work a lot better. They make a little noise (a faint fan sound) the first day when they're cooling down, after that they are still just as silent as before. Also, regular sized 750ml champagne bottles do fit, an added bonus.

I've had this cooler running in a room with an ambient temperature of 68 72F for 24 hours now, and I'm just about to switch it off and return it because of its noise level.

Initially I set it to its lowest temperature setting of 50F, which it reached in about 8 hours with 10 room-temperature bottles in it. Its fan was running continuously for that period, but that wasn't unexpected. I left the cooler at that setting overnight to let it stabilize. In the morning the fan was still running continuously. No problem, as I intended to run the cooler at 54F anyway. When I reset the temperature to 54F the fan switched off for several minutes, but after that it kicked in and out every minute or so. Out of curiosity I reset the temperature to 60F and got the same result the fan switched off for several minutes and the temperature drifted up (quite quickly), but once it reached 60F it cycled on and off repeatedly. It's currently running for about a minute, switching off for about 30 seconds, then switching on again for a minute, in a 72F room with the cooler set to 60F.

Now, if the fan was silent or nearly so then that wouldn't be a problem, but sadly that it isn't the case. Maybe this cooler is faulty, but the fan makes a fairly loud and penetrating buzzing sound when it's running, with the speed spooling up and down as it switches on and off. The noise level is comparable to that from noisy fans on a PC, but because it's a buzz that rises and falls and switches on and off repeatedly it's hard to ignore or get used to, and it's audible from adjacent rooms.

Two other reviewers said that the noise level on their coolers was minimal while another said that the fan was quite noisy, so this might be something that varies from one cooler to the next. I don't think anyone would describe the buzz I'm getting from this one as minimal though.

Anyway, back it goes.

UPDATE

Within an hour or so of contacting Amazon to return this item I received a call from the vendor (Air & Water) to ask if I wanted a refund or a replacement. I talked it over with them for several minutes before deciding on a refund, and shortly after that I received an e-mail with a link to print out a FedEx return label at their cost. So, although the cooler didn't meet my needs I'm very happy with the service from Air & Water.

Been running for quite a few months now.Great wine cooler but to get 4 or 5 stars it will need the following:1.Better spacing of the racks. Some bottles are difficult to get in an out because the shelves are too close together.2. Figure out how to make it a bit quieter. Just a constant hum that is louder than I think a unit designed to be out on a counter should be.

Avanti 1.7-Cubic Foot Beer Dispenser, Black W/Platinum Finish Door

Avanti 1.7-Cubic Foot Beer Dispenser, Black W/Platinum Finish Door
  • Dispenses 5 liter kegs
  • Compact size
  • Compressor cooling
  • Adjustable CO2 regulator
  • Holds two kegs

I have been saving for a personal 5L beer keg dispenser after seeing all my 'cool-friends' with the Heineken Beer-tender, but the reviews on their life-span turned out to be true (they quit if you keep a close to empty in the unit for more than a day or two) and I wanted something that operated differently.

I love this machine for the most part, and am working on making adjustments to the parts that are a miss for me.I love that it holds 2 x 5 Liter kegs and the accessories that come with the machine will allow you to use virtually ANY 5L keg style out there: Co2 pre-charged kegs like Heineken and Newcastle as well and any un-charged keg.The fact that this is an actual fridge protects the item from conking out because of a no-load melt-down like the other dispensers I have experience with.

Now the misses on this unit; this is a fridge and it boasts a glass shelf to chill your beer glasses. This is included and a really cool idea, however the shelf is way to close to the top of the chiller for anything taller than a shot-glass and so is pretty much useless for any practical use.Maybe someday I'll find some glasses that fit in there but right now I just can't make it work.

Next miss, and this is the biggest one; the pour spout looks very large and so you would think the flow of the brew would be almost as fast as a bar tap. Unfortunately this was very far from reality. The handle uses a 3/16" ID vinyl tube identical to the kind used in an aquarium aerator pump. The pour is excruciatingly slow! The tap handle works by pinching the tubing within the plastic spout but there is room for a slightly bigger tube.Today I went to a local hardware store and picked up a 1/4" ID vinyl tube and installed it,(after sterilizing) this helped quite a bit but is still way too slow for my taste. The speed is slower than the included tap on a Heineken 5L for reference.I will continue to work on this and it is usable, just a sticking point for me but NOT a reason avoid this machine.

The LED light is a cool idea, but that is about as much effort as they put into it.The light can be seen if you look through the window, but doesn't light up the fridge interior unless all the external lights are off in the room.In fact I forget it's on some times and leave the room because I can't tell that it's doing anything by just glancing at it.LED's run cool and it's a great idea, just no follow though on this.

The temperature adjustment is very cool(no pun intended) and even though the fridge settings bottom out at 38 degrees, the fridge is normally sitting at 36 degrees making very tasty beer.

The door is not reversible as described in the product features, the latch is molded on the door and cannot be opened from the right side.

Co2 control seats well and is easy to setup and adjust.

Overall I am really pleased with this product and do recommend this to others as a more reliable alternative to the Beer-tender, but I recommend it most for those who are home-brewers and aren't afraid to 'tinker' with the tap handle to get a better flow.I am most excited about the home-brewing aspect of this products versatility, as I myself have just started a batch of Oktoberfest home-brew and just ordered a Keg 5 Liter Party Keg with Tap for Homebrew and am beyond excited to have my brew on tap for my friends instead of passing out bottles.

I bought this on a whim.I had been thinking about putting my homebrew in kegs but didn't want to deal with the expense and complication of a kegging system and a kegerator. As I looked at this I saw that it could substitute for the mechanics of that system as long as I could get my homebrew into mini-kegs.The good news is that it can be done, the bad news is that mini-kegs seem to be in high demand and low production so there will be a wait for the empty kegs to get started. In the mean time I have substituted a pre-made mini keg.I chose one that is not of the pre-charged variety (Heinekin, New Castle) as my own will not be pre charged.

The good: The setup was easy and installing the first mini-keg was as easy as tapping and putting in the fridge. There is space to keep some glasses on the shelf, although not much, to have a chilled vessel to contain your brew. The unit looks sharp and will give you some bragging rights when your buddies are over for football. The ability to store a spare is a great feature. It is pretty cool to have a nice, cold, draft beer from the comfort of your family room/man-cave.

The not so good:The draft tube to the front of the unit is a pretty small diameter. It takes about a minute or so to fill a standard pint glass. This isn't a deal breaker, but when the previously mentioned buddies line up, that pour time takes the shine of the apple, a bit.The unit looks sharp, but on closer inspection, chrome parts turn out to be shiny plastic and the unit overall has a bit of a cheap feel.

The bad:The unit is noisy, not off the scale, but distracting when it kicks on during a movie. The regulator system is SUPER cheap.I had to add an o-ring to keep my cartridges from losing pressure (I wasted 3 in 3 days before I figured it out). The knob to adjust the pressure just keeps going tighter, sometimetimes with no result, other times by over presurizing the mini.

I would say that overall this unit will perform as advertized, just don't expect to be blown away.

Picked up mine last year post x-mas.Still love it!!!Do have some difficulty in NJ finding gravity kegs though.I keep two kegs in it at all times...usually a Heiniken or New Castle and then another that is run off of the coolers co2 system.I have found the 9oz co2 canisters work the best. The 16 grams tubes tend to leak unless u apply a little pipe tape.I was surprised that the 16g are not threaded, it would work much better.

Was originally drawn to the unit for its 2 keg size and because the cooling system is actually run off of a compressor and not a thermal cooling plate.Had one of them a few years ago and it burned out pretty quickly as most of them seem to do.

All in all it seem to work like a charm...highly recommended!!

I've had this product for over a year now. I got it because I am a homebrewer, but don't have the space in my apartment to go to a full 5-gallon keg sytstem.

Don't bother trying to use the 16 g CO2 cartridges the o-ring seal on the attachment-nut piece is cheap, and will not properly seal the cartridge. Therefore you'll go through tons of the cartridges, and wind up with a lot of flat kegs of beer. I use a standard 12oz and 20 oz paintball canister that you can get at Dicks or off of amazon which scews into the regulator directly. You can still get the 20 oz canister to hang from the hangar on the inside of the door but you won't be able to fit two kegs.

The faucet that comes with the unit works fine the tubing is 1/8" ID, which does make for a deliberate pour, but smaller diameter tubing can also help to reduce foam. I wound up modifying the door so that I could install a bar-quality tap faucet from a homebrew supply store and use cornelius-style kegs (also from a homebrew supply store), but the existing faucet gets the job done.

The one thing that I can't modify is the noise that this thing makes when the compressor kicks in. It is very noticeable, especially if you have it in a room where you watch tv.

Overall I am happy with this product, it only gets three stars because the 16 g co2 cartridge option just doesn't work reliably, and the noise.

It took awhile to decide if we wanted to buy it, there aren't that many mini kegs on the market.I was finally sold when I read a local brewery was releasing their Christmas ale in mini keg.We have been extremely happy with this purchase. We bought a keg beer cleaning line, which was totally unnecessary. It is just easier to remove the tap from the fridge and run the line with warm water from the sink.Super easy to do.

Also, there have been complaints about the shelf in the back, I don't get that. There is plenty of space for glasses to lay down or our collectors item old school Coors glasses fit standing upright.Nice cold frosty glass with every beer.

We replaced our five year old Kenmore washer and dryer with the Maytag Centennial Series washer and dryer.Uncertain at first if I would like the "high efficiency" washer, but I am 100% pleased with my decision.Although the washer makes somewhat of a grinding sound (instead of the agitation sound which we are all so accustomed to over the years), I feel our clothes are clean and I must admit we do feel we will save water and money over the years. There are only two of us, so I might have looked at a larger capacity washer and dryer if our children were still at home, but this Maytag combo does the job very well for us.I suggest any senior citizen give it a try!

Buy Maytag MVWC450XW Centennial 3.6 Cu. Ft. White Top Load Washer - Energy Star Now

We purchased the Maytag Centennial washing machine, and it's a piece of junk. It does NOT get the clothes clean. The water goes in the machine, and the clothes simply soak in the water then it spins out.

I have not had one clean batch of laundry since the day that garbage was delivered here. Maytag made all kinds of claims -it would wash large loads, bulky loads, small loads, you name it. It can't even get a small load clean. Yes, we most certainly are using the Tide pods as recommended. I put four of those things in the machine with the last laundry load and the laundry still didn't get clean.

Don't be fooled by Maytag's past good reputation. Their washers are junk now. This has been an expensive lesson learned for us. They won't ever get another cent from us and this junk of theirs is going to the dump.

Better yet, I should sue for return of my money and make them come get this junk out of my house at their expense.
