We have one in the pantry and it is great for the costco-sized food we buy.We put one shelf in w/ the back up one notch higher than the front for soda pop indispensing, except the "rows" of cans get horqued up.Occasionally, it seemed like the fan and cooling would shut off.Then the fan started making all kinds of noise.I replaced it rather easily after BUYING a new one.After another month, it would regularly stop completely.The light is on, but neither the fan or compressor work.Basically, I think the components are cheap and unreliable.

This commercial grade fridge is actually pretty nice, but first the important news that any potential buyer (or current new owner) should know! This fridge has a 12-hour defrost cycle which is not well documented and it may catch you by surprise, as you might think your fridge is broken...So the issue is that NOWHERE in the documentation does it say that it's expected that the fridge will WARM up during this defrost cycle every 12 hours!During each defrost cycle the fridge goes from a very stable 38F, then rises to 60F after about 30 minutes, then kicks on again to cool back down.The product docs/specs only mention that it has a 12 hour auto-defrost cycle, period... Again, NO mention about the fact that it is typical for the fridge to get THAT warm!Also beware that during this defrost cycle the fridge will become quite humid and everything in it gets moist with condensation.I have validated this information with Frigidaire/Electrolux commercial product customer service and asked that they update their product materials to clearly state this behavior to customers.Also let it be known, that this is still considered a "food safe" fridge, as it does conform to FSIS standards (which baffles me, as warming, cooling and humidifying food is more NOT food safe than anything else).In any case, since it does this, I would NOT recommend this fridge for extended food storage.I use it strictly for drinks, which it is excellent for.

Now onto the good things about this fridge.It is very sleek, stylish, well built, and it's HUUUUUGE on the inside, so you have TONS of wide open and easy to access storage.The shelves are simple to adjust, and I put some of the racks at a slight angle so when a soda is removed from a 12-can "fridge pack" style box the next one rolls forward for a nice "auto-dispensing" feel.The door seals itself nicely when closed, and if you level it properly, you'll never accidentally have it slightly open, unless you don't even get it close to closed of course.Also, it isn't all that loud for being a commercial unit, but it is certainly much louder than a standard fridge, so I wouldn't keep this in the kitchen or anywhere else where you would like it to be quiet (I keep mine in the garage so I never hear it in the house).The insulation seems quite good as well, since it holds a stable 38F even on sweltering hot summer days when the garage can heat up to 90F or higher for long periods of time.

If I would have known about the details of the auto-defrost cycle and that I couldn't keep food in here long term (or dry age steaks, which was what I originally wanted to do with this fridge), I would have looked elsewhere.At least I got this at a great price since it was a floor model, but for just a drink fridge, I would have been pretty angry if I had paid full MSRP for this.

21-Bottle Dual Zone Thermoelectric Wine Cooler By Sunpentown

I recall having a Sunpentown frying pan a few years ago and remember throwing it out after a couple of months. Getting another Sunpentown product was probably not a very smart idea. If they made bad frying pans, I doubt you can expect much for a complicated wine storage system.Definitely not pursuing any design awards when they came up with this. Tacky and plastic looking with a supposedly high tech touch panel. I did not have high expectations for a 200 dollar plus wine chiller and could not have been more right. Set your expectations low. Very low. The touch panel was so misaligned that you would have to press a full inch to the side to activate it.

The unit claims to fit 21 bottles which it does, but try putting a slightly wider bottle in there and it wont fit unless you remove an entire shelf. I'm not sure if the dual zone is purely in appearance but there was at any given time only a 1 degree difference between the upper and lower. Even if you set the top zone to the maximum and the bottom to the minimum, both zones would just settle somewhere in between. I'm assuming it's a insulation failure between the top and bottom.

I was actually going to keep it out of sheer laziness, but when the bottom zone stopped running, it was obvious that no matter how forgiving I was, it would not work out.Not a life changing crisis by any means, but sometimes it's just good to learn from the past mistakes.

This product has been a big disappointment. It has never been able to cool to the temperatures set. The lowest it will reach is 60 degrees. The motor for the upper section died within a few months. I would not recommend this unit at all.

We have had ours for about a year and I noticed that often the temps would get much higher than I had it set (like up to the mid-60s).If I cleaned the screens on the back it would go back to normal though.But last week we were out of town for a week.When we got home it was reading 99 degrees!!I opened it up and all our wine was burning up.I think it was much much hotter than 99 degrees but that is the hottest the display could show.The corks were popping out of the wine and hundreds of dollars worth of wine were ruined.What concerns me even more is that if we didn't come home when we did it could have started a fire.Be careful if you get this.

Bought the winecooler regardless of reservation from reading negative comments on Amazon.Should have taken these reviews more seriously.The demise came gradually, first the top cooler temp kept creeping up, then came the bottem section temperature problem.One day, the engine noise became so labored that we had to unplug it.It never recovered.

It is a good looking piece of equipment, but for something that costs close to $300 without functioning for one year, it is a piece of crap.

I did a bit of research before deciding to purchase the Danby. The price was right and reviews of other makes tended to say things like "stopped working after n months". Also, the thermoelectric technology on many of the other makes doesn't seem to be able to keep things cool if the temperature reaches above 85 or 90, which is quite easy to achieve in NY during the summer. The Danby has an old tech compressor which is time tested and should be reliable for years. The major problem is vibration. When it's running the thing vibrates the wine bottles excessively. This is bad for long term evolution of wine. But, if you have bottles for long term this thing is way too small to begin with. My long term stuff is in a wine storage facility. The other problem is the temperature control. Wine shoud be stored at 53-55deg. At the very, very lowest setting (knob turned to just above where it turns off) it varies between 49-53deg, as tested by a Taylor 1458 wireless temp/humidity gauge. A little too low but acceptable for short term, at least it's not too high which will ruin wine faster than anything. Humidity is also diffcult to maintain and is too low (30-40%) even with a bowl of water and wet paper towel. These faults make it useless for long term storage of wine (several years), but for short term (months) it should be fine.

This reasonably priced, sturdy refrigerator seems to be doing the job it advertised.A great value for this discounted price, it is also an attractive item for your kitchen, bar or pantry.I don't know if they had Houdini doing the counting, though...I cannot possibly imagine how one could configure it into holding SEVENTEEN (!) bottles of wine!

This isn't even worth it for a basic collector.There isn't a temperature display, but the large problem here is that the temperature control switch offers NO range at all.You could for example set it to highest or lowest settings and get no difference AT All in actual temperature.Not only that but the temperature is too cold for red wine to be properly stored.I hate to be a perfectionist here but hey, isn't that why we buy these things in the first place?I've spoken with other former owners of this hassle of a cooler and heard the same review.The best part was when I called to tell Danby of the problem customer service told me the problem was an isolated problem they've never had before and that the temperature should be able to be adjusted.SO I sent back and received another, then another.None of them ever got warmer (or colder) than 45 degrees and I have sent it back a final time. KEEP SHOPPING AROUND!

Bought this unit From TheFactoryDepot via Amazon at the end of July 2010, and it worked until late April 2011 (warranty is good until April 2012).When it ceased working, I visited the Danby website to find a service depot.Located one nearby, dropped off the unit. After a week went by, I was told the compressor had failed, and was directed (by the depot) to contact the seller for return/replacement.Called TheFactoryDepot and was told I need to contact the manufacturer.Called Danby, and they are closed on a Friday in anticipation of a Canadaian holiday (Victoria Day) on Monday.At this point, I am not optimistic about the outcome.Will post an update when I reach the end of this quest.

UPDATE, June 7, 2011: Was finally able to contact Danby's customer service department after many attempts and busy signals.Provided the information about my unit, and was told they would contact the service depot for specifics on the failure.Several emails and phone calls later, I was finally told that Danby was going to give me a refund and send me a check for the amount of purchase.That was one week ago... no check yet.Will post again when (if) I receive the refund.

UPDATE, July 9, 2011: The check from Danby arrived today. Case closed.

There is indeed space for 17! bottles in this cooler, but three of them need to be eiswein! I doubt this will hold 17 .75 liter bottles; I might get one more eiswein in it for 18 bottles. I use this in my car for drinks or to keep small items of food cold on the way home from long trips to Costco, etc. It's durable, has many pockets, and works great. If you have more room in your vehicle and need more "cold storage" for your trips, get the bigger one.

The only drawback, and I assume this is for all of these type devices, is if you leave it plugged in your car/boat, etc. for long periods of time while your vehicle is OFF, it will drain your battery fairly fast. The longest I've left it plugged in while my car was off was about 3 hours. But I did this repeatedly and it eventually caused the premature death of my car battery in Dec 07.

HOWEVER, THIS said, I have an 05' mid-size SUV and this was the original battery so that also may have contributed.

After receiving this product I found it defective. Because I was moving and VERY short on time oh... and quite handy, I decided to open it up and see if I could do the repair by myself. I found the cheap internal construction to be the issue and cleared the fan from rubbing by modifying the hard foam frame a bit which was causing the fan to rub and sounded like a playing card close-pinned to a bicycle wheel when it ran. This caused it not to get cold obviously. I managed the repairs only to find that on the road, the current draw was very high on my TDI VWs little battery and it took some time for the device to cool down internally but it did within about an hour. On my long driving trip from LA to Wisconsin I eventuallyjust unplugged it and bought some ice and threw it in.

The device would have possibly been fine I think in a larger car with a stronger alternator and battery BTW. I also bought the battery saver. This did a bit better but I found it heated up the cabin as well as the cooler did by itself just too much on hot days in the summer. Might have worked better in the winter or somehow putting it up on my roof rack rather than having it inside a little bug with two people and a dog. I would not recommend this or any device like it for a small car as configured.

The cooler won't get anything cold mine only went down to 50 (in a 70 degree room) and it took many hoursto get there with anything in it.(It was blowing 46 degree air after 2 hours).And it warms up quickly 14 degrees in only an hour and 1/2.

Add to that a continuous whir noise, so you don't want to bring it into your motel room and leave it plugged it and the battery load which occurs if you leave it in the car overnight, this is a limited use device (in my humble opinion).

This arrived yesterday and I did a "dry run" with it.First off, I had no clue, for some odd reason, that it was also a heated device.So, imagine my surprise during the first test when the inside was getting hot, lol.I then read further and found that if one flips it to the blue side, it cools, the red side is for heat.I got an adapter since I will not be using it in a vehicle.At any rate, we did as instructed and gave it a test empty. It was cold within about ten to fifteen minutes.There are plenty of pockets and I was afraid they wouldn't get cold but they did.For the price and with Amazon Prime, I just couldn't pass this one up. It has much more room than the hard sided one that I also looked at. Now, I'm going to really use this soon when I camp and I might do an additional review at that time.As far as I can tell, I think this was an excellent purchase and would recommend it highly.

OK, I've now officially tested this product during an exceptionally hot and humid weekend of camping and it worked great.What I did, since I knew that it was going to be super hot with very high humidity, was follow the instructions, or recommendation, of another reviewer.I put a hard ice pack in the bottom and also, a Gator Ade bottle, with frozen water, in the unit.I just used this for Gator Ade as it is just too hot to eat, lol, and it worked fine.I made sure to keep it in the shade at all times.When I got home, the bottle filled with ice, still was pretty frozen.It wasn't totally frozen, of course, but, it did still have a huge chunk of ice within.I think this is going to work just fine.Plus, it wasn't loud at all. I literally had to put my hand by the fan to make sure it was running. I give this a huge thumbs up and would recommend to others.Come fall, I probably won't do the ice pack method but, with the humidity we have been having, it would have been silly not to use the ice too.My Gator Ade was actually too cold.I also left said drink out and it got warm, of course. I then put it back in the cooler and it was super cold within about an hour or a bit more.I hope this helps others. Oh, I almost forgot to mention something. Since my van is a 1997 and the cig lighter hasn't worked in years, I bought that adapter deal that turns it into an electric device. That worked fine.Just be careful as the power pack deal gets pretty hot. I literally hung mine over a box fan that I took along and, obviously, it kept it cool.

The Koolatron does not provide any additional cooling capacity or ability to keep cool beyond what any other insulated bag would do, and is not as cold as a bag that has had a frozen ice pack added to it.And the manufacturer recommends that it not be plugged in for more than 4 hours at a time, which eliminates use as a day-long cooling container.I do not believe the capability of this container warrants the expense.

46-Bottle EdgeStar Built-In Dual-Zone Wine Cooler

I bought this wine cooler (although not through Amazon) and am passing on my experience since I'm now looking for a replacement cooler.Purchased the cooler in Oct. 2011 from an on-line store with a 90-day labor, 1-year parts warranty.The cooler worked fine until June 2012 when it stopped cooling completely.I contacted the U.S. distributor (the cooler itself is made in China, of course) and was told I could get the unit repaired locally and that they would honor the parts warranty if it needed replacement parts.So I took the cooler to a local appliance repair shop and they inspected it, installed an in-line tap into the coolant line and recharged the refrigerant.They reported no visible leaks, but the possibility of leak in the internal tubing which they said would "not be repairable."After this repair the cooler worked fine from July 3 to August 14, 2012, and then stopped cooling altogether.Just to confirm that repairing an internal leak of coolant was no repairable, I got a repair estimate from another local appliance repair service which came back at $500+ with the recommendation to simply replace the unit.Wanting to cover all my options, I contacted Edgestar technical support and asked if it was worth crating and shipping the cooler to them from Santa Fe, NM to Austin, TX, for repair.You guessed it, they advised that these costs plus their labor to work on the cooler exceeded its value; I should replace it.Since this is the third wine cooler I have owned, and both of the other coolers are still running in other locations (after ten years for one and nine years for the other and both were made in the U.S.A), I could simply conclude that this Edgestar was a flawed product, but now there's nothing to do with the one I've got but to junk it.I won't buy another Edgestar product of course.I'll look for a replacement made in the U.S.A, which will be more expensive, but of better quality, and I'll also spring for a better warranty, which in this case, would probably prove to be cost effective.

We spent about $700 on this wine cooler. It was great until right after the 1 year warranty expired....it died, no warranty, and we have yet to find a repairman that works on Edgestar appliances...dont waste your money.

Funny thing about these wine coolers in this price range at least. They are always overstating the number of bottles that fit in there. Kind of like how many people can fit in a volkswagon,... anecdotal. You could stuff it up to 46 I suppose but it would be a trick to use it comfortably. You lose a couple of bottle spots with the temperature control panel which is unfortunately designed. Also, most bottles scrape on the rack above it. But still, works fine for me.

I was shopping for quite awhile looking for the right cooler. We had a very restrictive area and this cooler fits well. After looking at several reviews of the EdgeStar vs. others, I narrowed my choice to the EdgeStar and one other brand. Price difference of a few hundred dollars led me to the EdgeStar. Reviews were similar. I could have saved a few hundred from what I paid for the EdgeStar on other brands I researched, but reviews were horrible. I have had it for about a month now, and so far, so good.

The only negative is that the spacing of the shelves is tight and I am not sure how you really can get 46 bottles inside, but I have not really spent a lot of time trying to focus on it. Maybe after the holidays I will figure it out.

Bought the SF Giants portable refrigerator as a gift for my boyfriend and have not regretted it.He wanted a mini-fridge upstairs but we just didn't have the space for one, this served as a perfect comrpomise.Can hold cans, bottles, etc.Comes with a car adapter as well...haven't used that but is neat anyways.Great purchase.

She opened it Christmas day & was super stoked but when I plugged it in it didn't work. The fan wouldn't turn on & it wouldn't get cold at all. That day on Christmas I went on Amazon filed a return, the next day they had UPS come pick it up (day after Christmas) & buy the end of that day another was already shipped. By Friday I had the new one at my door, plugged it in & worked like a champ. That's why I love Amazon, quick, fast no BS, problem solved.

Love that the fridge has a handle on top to carry around & it has a hot & cold feature & not only does it have the wall power cord it has one for the car too, pretty sweet.
