Whirlpool GSS30C6EYW 29.7 Cu. Ft. White Side-By-Side Refrigerator - Energy Star

Whirlpool GSS30C6EYW 29.7 Cu. Ft. White Side-By-Side Refrigerator - Energy StarThis is an awesome side by side fridge. We've had it for a couple of months and we are very happy we bought it. We got it for about half price of what's listed here it was marked down, probably because it is wider than can fit in many kitchens. It's a great looking fridge with the cool blue lighted display on the ice maker. And there are many lights inside the fridge and the freezer. There isn't anywhere you can't see easily. There's even a light illuminating the ice!

Speaking of the ice maker, I read a review before buying where someone commented that the ice spits out and this is true. However, if you hold the glass up towards where the ice comes out, it isn't a problem. Our last fridge caught on fire (Sears Kenmore Elite) thank goodness we were at home when it happened. Anyway, we had to replace parts in that ice maker all the time.Every week I had to take out all the ice and chisel the ice build up out of the chute so the ice could come out.Major pain. The flap holding the ice in didn't close properly and the ice would melt into a big chunk.

This fridge solves the problem the flap to let the ice out is motorized and closes after each use. The ice maker doesn't hold as much as the last one so I have a quart ziploc bag with extra ice just in case we get company and need more. You can choose ice cubes or chips. There are separate pads to push for water and ice which is easier for my mother-in-law to use.She lives with us and is blind. We put a loc-dot on the digital display on the ice maker and she has no problem using it.A great feature is that the water dispenser will discharge a pre-determined amount. We set it at one cup so she can easily get water to mix with her vitamin supplement drink.

The drawers are well built. They glide easily, even when full of heavy items like cans of pop; not like our last fridge where you had to tug and tug to get the drawers open.

So far I have no complaints about this purchase!

I noticed some corrosion and heavy scale on the original pump in my Kitchen Aid ice machine during a service overhaul, and brought this item as a straight replacement. The machine now produces ice at a faster rate and is much quieter now.

The pump was shipped and delivered on time.

It was the part I needed and still working well, and at a significant discount to others I found on online for the exact same product. If you have a non-working stand alone (not refrigerator based) Kitchenaid icemaker appliance that doesn't seem to pump water upward from the water trough to make ice, its a good chance this is the part you need. It turns out that this Whirlpool part is standard in many other brand icemakers. There is a plastic shield near the back of the ice bin you can quickly remove to see the part and verify if your pump looks the same.

Part is very easy to replace yourself, and will save you a small fortune compared to what you'd pay a plumber.

My KitchenAid ice machine stopped working and the pump (actually the motor) was toast!Went on Amazon and found this item.It is a direct replacement.Sure, it's challenging to replace given the pump's location but totally do-able!Be sure to place something over the drain hole or you'll be chasing screws down the line :-(I was a bit concerned when this item was shipped from Puerto Rico but that wasn't any issue either! It arrived within a few days and in excellent condition...

Frigidaire FFHS2313L 22.6 Cubic Foot Side-by-Side Refrigerator with PureSource 3 and Store-More Hum

Frigidaire FFHS2313L 22.6 Cubic Foot Side-by-Side Refrigerator with PureSource 3 and Store-More Humid, Silver Mist
  • PureSource 3(R)
  • Store-More Humidity-Controlled Crisper Drawers
  • Energy Saver Plus Technology
  • Ready-Select(R) Controls
  • Control Lock Option

I had to buy a refrigerator that fit in a small space (33 inches or less), so I had limited choices and didn't want to spend a fortune. This one fit the bill. It is a very nice mid-range price fridge. The icemaker and water dispenser work great, both the fridge and the freezer are lighted, as well as the water/ice dispenser (a nice bright LCD light) and the storage shelves and bins are nice quality. My previous fridge was a high-end Kitchenaid, and this does not have as many luxury features, but that is to be expected. The stainless and styling have a high-end look and I think it is a very good value for the price. Overall I'm very happy with this fridge!

Do not buy this refrigerator.I found out that every 3 month the water filter will clog, you'll end up with no water and no ice cube.

Sears sent someone to diagnose, but they'll tell you to buy water filter at a steep price of $60.00

We owned this refrigerator for THREE DAYS when it died! The service rep came out and said that the unit had a bad relay box AND a bad compressor. When I called Electrolux to ask for a replacement unit, they said that they have to make three attempts to repair it before they will replace the unit.Again, the unit was THREE DAYS OLD!! I will never recommend Electrolux/Frigidaire to anyone, and I used to be a big fan.

We have a small tasting room therefore we did not have much choice as of different units of different sizes. I am not entierly satisfied with the unit. For a smaller room the unit is way too noisy in my opinion. There are several other things I am missing or don't like such as:

No temperature control. The unit has two factory temp settings one for day and one for night and that's it.

When in day mode the fan of the unit runs constantly, which contributes to the loudness & noise.

The night mode would be fine for us even during the day, especially as in night mode the fan does not run and the compressor would still will maintain the preset night temp. However once you open one of the doors during night mode the unit switches to day mode again.

All in all I am not entirely satisfied, but I could not find an alternative unit. It would be nice to have a unit, which would allow to adjust or override the preset factory settings & modes. At this stage the unit operates at the mercy of the factory presets...

I originally purchased this refrigerator from Wal-Mart nearly a year ago for college.I got it for under $70 and really liked it a lot.Enough space to store basics including half gallon milk, meat, sodas and sports drinks and other things as well.Unfortunately with in the last few weeks the refrigerator began making popping sounds and now, just a few months after 1 year owning this refrigerator, the unit will no longer cool.

I can't complain as the unit worked great when it was functioning and I purchased an extended warranty and was able to get reimbursed for my failed unit. The important thing to take away is that these fridges are prone to and have an excessive failure rates. If you purchase this refrigerator I would suggest getting an extended warranty, you may very well end up having to make a claim before you think you will.

Its works good if indoors and keeps drinks cool/cold. It requires an ambient room temperature of 80 degrees or less to operate. Some people have reported the unit failing after a short time but its worked good so far.

Good unit for about six months.. but now it does not keep anything cold. I cleaned the coils to see if that was the problem. It helped some.. but I wouldn't put my yogurt and beer in there.

Bought one of these at Walmart for $80 to use as a beer fridge. As others have experienced, mine worked fine for about a year. I tried to be upset about that, but in that year I likely spent 20 times more on the beer itself than what I paid for the fridge.

I consider that a job well done, Mini Fridge. You gave a year of your life indeed, your very life itself to save and protect my beer. I don't take that sacrifice lightly. Rather, I honor you, Mini Fridge. Godspeed.

  • Internal Dimensions: 13.5" H x 14" W x 13" D

The EdgeStar has much to boast of: it is lightweight, easy to carry and move, roomy, attractive, and versatile as both a refrigerator and (marginally) as a freezer. Setup is simple, and the price is excellent. Strongly tainting this appliance however, is a thermostat dial which is either incompetently designed, incompetently calibrated, or both

Before continuing, let's not fail to note the advertised description for this product: "Just turn the thermostat to select the appropriate temperature for your application!"

Falling with equal snugness on the Things That Make You Go Duh list is the instruction manual telling us that "The knob has markings to indicate the relative temperature settings, but in general, turning the knob counter-clockwise corresponds to colder temperatures."

So if we turn the dial one way, it gets colder. Turn it the other way it gets warmer. We can handle that. The markings on the dial bear witness to and confirm this elegant conception of appliance design:

regrigeration------>MIN......OFF.....MAX

freezing----------->MIN......||......MAX

Interesting then, that in practice there is *no* temperature change in the freezer when dialed to "MIN", or dialed to "MAX". I measure both at a steady 20 degrees.

With some playing, one discoversthat colder temperatures are achieved, erratically, within the petite 1.5 millimeter space between the two vertical lines separating "Min" and "Max".

Moving counter clockwise per instructions along the dial after the arrow marked "Freezer", the temperatures I normally get are, in order:

20 (when dialed to "Min")

15 (when dialed to the left vertical line)

4 or 12 degrees (when between the two vertical lines)

10 (when dialed to the right vertical line)

20 (when dialed to "Max).

Perhaps the advertised 0 degree capability is buried someplace within the 1.5 mm space between the two vertical lines, but after several days of moving the dial minutely to the left or right, I'm unable to find it.

Additionally, after reaching the coldest discernable temperature of 4 degrees once, it took me 2 days to find it again while continuing my hunt for the elusive advertised0 degrees.

This is especially frustrating since it takes about half a day or more for a temperature change to be reached within the freezer after moving the thermostat dial -and when you move it, you don't know for certain if you're making it colder or warmer.

Which is to say, this isn't a particular fast appliance: The manual recommends not introducing frozen food to the freezer until it's been turned to the coldest setting (wherever that is) for at least 2 hours after turning it on. That seems wildly optimistic to me. In practice, it takes roughly 5 hours to freeze undersized 1" ice cubes from power-up using the tray bundled with this freezer.

To its credit, the EchoStar is fine as a refrigerator, and fine as a freezer as long as you aren't picky about hitting the the normally recommended 0 degrees for frozen foods.

But sorry, it should not require several days to find the coldest temperature on a device by nudging a dial back and forth within a space of a milimeter. And oddly enough, even without the instruction booklet telling me to do so, I fully expect "Max" to be colder than "Min", and not be actually located at some microscopicly ambiguous point between the two.

"Just turn the thermostat to select the appropriate temperature for your application!"

Yeah. Duh.

Good points-

1) Small enough to carry up the stairs without help

2) Quieter than expected

3) Unlike a chest freezer, this one lets you have easy access to the contents

4) Low cost for electricity

Bad points

1) This is not for you if you're looking for something big enough to store a deer or other large item. For me, it's just the right size.

Just got this little beauty around 5:00pm today and plugged it in shortly after with freezer temp set to max and putting in a new Freezer thermometer. I read the post about defective temp control, but saw that others had 'no problem' so I played dumb and just cranked it up. Just as well, as it is now 7:30pm and I heard the freezer pump go off. I looked in the door and the thermometer was at rock bottom minus 20 degrees. Wow am I happy. My main refrigerator freezer is set well enough to keep frozen foods at 0 degrees and that's what I want this little model to do also. I turned the thermostatic control back a quarter turn to rest it between max and min on the freezer side. I'm thinking that it will now level out at zero.

How it works was my first concern, so now that that is settled I can only also add what others have said: It looks great!

It looks beautifully made and I won't be surprised to have this unit for many years to come. I got it to hold frozen foods I take out of my main refrigerator while I am thawing out my main refrigerator. I'll bet I start cheating now and start using this little gem to horde my favorite Ice Creams or stock up on meats or who knows what. A very good purchase at a very good price. I would highly recommend to a friend.

I've had this freezer for two weeks and am very happy with it.It got cold very quickly and reached a steady zero degrees with only two or three adjustments.(I've checked it repeatedly with a refrigerator/freezer thermometer to be sure it stayed there.)

I long wished I had a very small freezer in my room to hold ice packs when ill or recovering from surgery, because a small refrigerator doesn't get cold enough. It seems extravagant, but is well worth the cost when your family fridge and freezer are down the stairs and at the other end of the house.(Foot surgery finally drove me to buy this.)I use it for frozen foods as well.

It looks good, too I only wish the door had a brushed stainless steel instead of a dull mirror finish.

Two weeks is not long for rendering judgment (or I'd probably give it five stars) but I'm delighted to have it.It's good for recovery and makes things much easier for other family members while you're laid up.

Not only does GE make the most worthless piece of cr@p appliances, they also have the all-time worst customer service.

Have gone through two of these refrigerators. The first one shook and squeaked like crazy every time we opened its door. The repair tech's solution was to "level" the fridge. They "leveled" the fridge over 10 times in 18 months. The first fridge also frequently made a very loud, random clicking noise. The noise could be heard over the TV, movies, etc... It was extraordinarily disturbing, especially when the family is trying to have a quiet dinner or even watch a movie in the living room. After going through hell (about 20-30 hours on the phone and over a dozen useless, failed service calls) GE finally replaced the fridge (only because the developer of our new house forced the local sales rep to replace it; GE customer service basically told us to F-off).And the new fridge makes an even louder clicking sound! WTF?!

Avoid ALL GE products like the plague. They are a worthless company that doesn't give a rat's a55 about customer service and cares even less about taking thousands of your hard-earned dollars in exchange for a useless product that is designed to fail miserably.

I've had this G.E. profile for slightly less than 4 years. It was OK at first. But in the first year two of the drawers have broken, the ice makers leaks down the refrigerator and onto the floor, the temperature control does not control the temperature on either side and the freezer thaws intermittently and my TV dinners get soggy, and yesterday both the refrigerator and the freezer gave out and stopped cooling. It still makes an excellent nightlight though. Oh and the ice maker gets clogged and then won't make ice.A little research on the net and I have discovered the motherboard breaks on these puppies and they stop cooling.I mean I have literally found DOZENS of unhappy owners who have had their machines no more than 4 years. Some less than one year and the cooling system stops.Figure a $700 bill for that, and figure the new mother board will last you about 1-4 years before it breaks too. This is a pervasive problem. If you figure one in every 10 people who have this same problem with their G.E. Profile's, write a complaint on line, then it's pretty much... yeah, everybody whose had one for 4 years. You'll be lucky to get 2 or 3 years from this machine.(by the way, G.E. dishwashers suck too.I know, I got a house full of new high end G.E. appliances furnished by the builder and I've had trouble with the dishwasher (recalled) the dryer and especially this dog of a refrigerator.A word of advice:When looking on line for reviews, do not trust the # of stars, you have to read the actual reviews because most of the people writing the reviews do so within a month or two of getting their appliance--sometimes the day it arrives. What the heck use is that, I ask you? (this is true of all appliances) What can they tell you on day one?It arrived fast? It's pretty?Yeah that's gonna matter in a year when your shrimp and steaks are all thawed and the freezer is leaking all over the floor and the dog is licking the puddle. Try to read reviews from people who have had the machine for YEARS and that will tell you something.

Nice refrigerator and looks nice with the rest of the stainless steel appliances. The ice maker is kind of noisy and sometimes it has trouble detecting that the tray is already full of ice. We previously had a GE refrigerator and it also had trouble with the ice maker. Other than that, we like the side by side refrigerator because it is taller than some of the other ones we looked at.

Please do your self a favor and get a different refrigerator. Had mine for 4 years. It has been repaired 3 times. It over frosted and would not cool, ice maker does not work properly, and this last time I am told there is no fixing the problem it just will not cool to below 50 degrees. Paying this much for something I expect it to last longer and do what it is supposed to do. Not happy at all! Oh, and repairmen have stated the model is too difficult to work on and have had 2 walk away. If you do buy it despite it's bad feedback good luck, you will need lots of it.

We purchased this fridge (slightly older version) and within about 4 years, it started to have the problems other reviewers have noticed. Intermittent thawing and then the fridge and freezer stopped cooling completely. We were given a discounted repair rate as this was a problem across the board. Then we had the puddling in the bottom of the fridge and today, we are expecting our second call in 5 months to repair the problem again even after the new kit was installed (again we paid for the repair at a discounted rate as this was another issue for these models). I have to say that we have been treated nicely by GE Customer Service, but honestly, I would steer clear of this fridge. It matched our builder installed other appliances and needed to be shallow depth so we spent more on it (shallow depth models are MUCH more expensive for some reason) than any other fridge/appliance we've ever had and it has been the least reliable and most troublesome appliance we have ever owned-GE or otherwise.
