I bought this as a christmas gift the cord gets to hot as well as the bottle. It did cool the soda for a couple of days, but wonder if it is a fire hazard.I was looking around the web for a mini-fridge for my office, and stumbled across this one. I have to say it's the coolest one I've ever seen, I mean c'mon, ITS A COKE BOTTLE!! The item arrived on time and set up was easy. The fridge is also very light and the cap houses a handle for easy transportation. At first it didn't seem to be keeping my drinks cold. I found out later that it all depends on the room temperature. If you keep this fridge in a cool room, your drinks will be ICE cold! Not exaggerating. However if you keep it in a warm room, well you can forget it. I haven't tested out its heating function but I would assume the same principals apply. So if you're looking for a stylish mini fridge that will be kept in a fairly cool room, I recommend this one!
Silent 48 Bottle 2-Zone Wine Refrigerator
- 48 bottle capacity
- silent thermoelectric cooling
- dual temperature zones with digital display
- doors lock individually for protection
1) 2 sides so you can keep different temps
2) Looks nice
3) Quieter than compressor 'cellars'
4) Keeps temperature
Cons:
1) Doesn't fit 48 bottles
2) Pinot bottles don't easily fit
3) Racks scrape labels
4) Light only illuminates top 2 rows
5) Doesn't get as cold as documented/advertised
I read all reviews before purchasing and knew going in about the first 4 `Cons' I've listed, but I was okay with that. What I had not read anywhere was `Con'# 5 (the unit's inability to get as cold as documented), so I will focus on that...
First things first, the manufacturer (Wine Enthusiast) states the internal temperature range is 50 66 F +/7 degrees.Although they state the proper temperature for both whites and reds is between 53 and 57 I have to disagree.I have read and discussed with many `wine enthusiasts' (wine makers, store owners, and drinkers) the proper chilling temp for white is 45 47 F.I `assumed' (bad idea) that I could set each side at 50 F and expect to have the lower sections reach 43 F.Therefore I could chill whites on the lower shelves and reds on the upper shelves.I figured this would meet my needs and decided to purchase the unit.
I ordered the fridge from Amazon and received it within days.I anxiously unpacked it, plugged it in, set the temp to 50 F on both sides, placed a couple tester bottles in it from my other chiller and waited.24 hours later I grabbed the bottles and tested the bottle temp (using an infrared thermometer used to test surface temperature). To my surprise the lower bottles on each side were only 54 55 F, while the upper bottles were as warm as 59 F.Thinking my gun needed calibration I decided to test the internal temp of the unit.I placed two thermometers at the bottom of the left side (one digital and one analog/liquid) and waited another 24 hours.I checked each thermometer and sure enough the left side was only getting as low as 54 degrees (I repeated the test on the right side, same results).
I phoned Wine Enthusiast and they told me to unplug the unit, wait a couple hours, and plug it back in to `reset' the thermostat.I did that and conducted the same test (with all three thermometers) 24 hours later and received the exact same results.I called back the next day and spoke to a technical representative who said possibly a board was bad and they would ship me another unit.
The shipment came about a week later and again I conducted the same tests. This time the temperature range was 51 53 F (lower section to upper section, respectively).I checked the temperature over the next several days and it never wavered (51 F lower section, 53 F upper section both sides). So although the temperature was steady it was not cold enough to truly `chill' white wine.
After contemplating my options I decided to keep the unit and store only reds in it.I think it would be fine for storing whites as well but not for chilling.I have another unit that goes as low as 41 (actually tested at 37 F) so I use that for my whites and the Wine Enthusiast for my reds.
Solutions for common issues:
To resolve pinot bottle storage, I remove the top rack and store pinot bottles on the next available rack (only 2 per side will fit comfortably) but this reduces total capacity by 8 bottles. The top rack is pretty much useless due to its proximity to the thermostat anyway.
To resolve the scraping, I use a 3 2 3 configuration.I flip every other rack upside down and this prevents scraping (but it reduces the storage capacity by another 6 bottles).
Bottom Line, there are a lot of bargain wine `cellars' out there and from what I've read all have issues. However, I would not recommend this one to anyone wanting to chill whites. If you only want to store reds then maybe this is for you, but don't be fooled into thinking it can store anywhere near 48 bottles (I think the total is closer to 32).

Item was delivered 15 days after it was ordered only to arrive damaged (looked like it was dropped a couple times). The doors didn't shut and the top was bent. After being on hold for 20 min, they were gracious enough to re-ship another unit but did not allow for the option to expedite shipping or change to a different carrier. The second item arrived 21 days later and was in worse condition than the first. The doors were ajar and the entire back was bent in. After another 30 minute telephone conversation, they agreed to refund the purchase price but were not going to refund the $85 shipping until I requested it.Very frustrating experience.Read Best Reviews of Silent 48 Bottle 2-Zone Wine Refrigerator Here
Perfect for the not-so-snotty wine buff.Keeps plenty of wine stocked outside the refrigerator.Dual controls a plus.Racks are small so oversized bottles don't make it and the racks can actually scrape the labels off if you are not careful. All in all, a bargain wine cooler for the average wine consumer.

Just purchased this wine refrigerator about a month ago.We have filled it up and it seems to be working perfectly. It's a quiet and reasonably attractive free-standing unit that was easy to get up and running. We look forward to years of use.
Wine Enthusiast does not provide direct service on wine coolers. They won't tell you this, but these wine coolers do not utilize a compressor. Instead, it is cooled by two small thermoelectric cooling chips located in the rear of the cooler. There is one thermoelectric chip on each side which are cooled by a small fan. These chips fail regularly, but Wine Enthusiast will not pay to replace these chips once the warranty expires. Instead, they can only be purchased from an outside vendor. Replacing the chips is not easy. It involves removing the back of the wine cooler and disassembling the cooling module. Bottom line, this is a cheaply made wine refrigerator and will not last for many years.

We owned an Amana refer for over 15 years until it stopped cooling in the refer and the freezer wouldn't defrost. I checked on getting it repaired but tech said would be better off buying a new one.So ...since we had good luck with Amana in the past we bought the one listed here.
Big mistake. The same thing that happened to our 15 year old refer hit the new one after only 2 years. Of course it is out of warranty now so I guess we have to pay 200 or more to get it fixed or buy a new fridge every 2 years. The freezer coils get covered with ice and the fridge is warm ....inexcusable for an appliance this new.

I have been using this fridge for a little over two months now and it is so far keeping everything within it good and cold and/or frozen. Our prior fridge was a Frigidaire that was around 30 years old.It was making extra noises, ran almost constantly and had a few less cubic feet, but still worked. We have noticed that our electric bill took a drop after starting to use this Amana, so it is more efficient. The two plastic drawers within the Amana look a bit flimsy.I hope they do not break as they are expensive to replace. The three drawers in the Frigidaire were much more sturdily made. The bottom drawer was for meats and stayed a little colder. The Amana does not have a place especially for meats. We had to add plumbing to the house to get water for the ice maker.Just got that done within the last few days. The ice maker is now doing its job.Every few hours we hear it dropping ice.As the instructions stated, I threw out the first several batches of ice.
I would have liked to have greater control over the spacing of the shelves. This Amana is suppose to have several cubic feet more space than the Frigidaire, but it doesn't seem to hold any more than the Frigidaire did.Appears to me that there is a lot of space within the Amana that is not able to be used.I do like the tempered glass shelves that will stop small spills from going clear to the bottom of the fridge. The door could have used one more tray and a place to keep eggs where they could be accessed easily.
So far, I am liking this Amana.Other than the inefficient use of space and the flimsy looking drawers, it seems to be working well so far.Knock on wood.I hope it keeps up.I am giving it four stars. Will update in the future if needed.
This refrigerator, which was purchased from Amazon, was delivered by a truck, unpacked by the driver, and then wheeled into the house and placed where it was requested. The outside packing material was removed by the driver.Very good service by Amazon.
March 9, 2013.
Have been using this refrigerator for around fifteen months now and it continues to work quite well.No problems with it whatsoever. The ice maker also continues to work quite well. There are only few complaints I might make so far.One is that the glass shelves are dirt magnets.Every few weeks I find that I have to clean a shelf or two.The other is it looks to me as though the shelves could have been several inches deeper front to back. It looks as though there was enough space for that and it would have added a little more storage capacity.I would recommend a couple of wire baskets for the freezer section to keep smaller items in.They keep small items from falling out.I like the Spectrum 47970 Medium Storage Basket.

I grew up with a very large, grey, Amana freezer always in our home and I do not remember my grandparents ever having anyone show up to work on it despite several moves and a time span from the 1950's to the early 1980's, that freezer was always dependable.
And, that's why I chose this refrigerator dependability! For me, buying a new refrigerator is a big expenditure and I need it to last a very long time. I also need a quiet, energy conserving appliance and this Amana fits the bill on that as well!
It took a little while to get used to a black refrigerator after always having beige or white ones, but now I really like it!
I also like the fact I can now go shopping and take advantage of grocery store sales and keep the freezer filled and I especially like the fact that with the side-by-side feature, I no longer have to worry about getting hit in the head by a top freezer door while putting food inside the fridge part!
I am very happy with this purchase!I haven't had this long at all, so I can't speak for longevity. I love it so far, though. I ordered it on January 20th (a Friday), and it arrived on the 25th (the following Wednesday) at 8am! The delivery company already had it unpacked and ready to go, they rolled it right into my kitchen in less than 5 minutes. After hooking up the water and power lines, everything worked flawlessly. It's cooling both sides fine on medium settings and the ice/water maker/dispenser is great! I can barely hear it running when the compressor kicks in. For the price I am very satisfied.

I ordered this freezer through Walmart online and I just got home to set it up. The instruction manual says it will be ready in about 2 hours and I should turn down the thermostat to the 2 o'clock detting. OK, when I got home I immediately set it up and I could hear the motor running. I thought yay! my freezer!!! Several hours later (8 hours to be exact) I checked to see if it was cold and to turn down the thermostat... it's still very hot on the inside! :( I tried calling the customer service center and they are not open right now. I called Walmart to see about returning it. I'm very unhappy and dissappointed in my freezer. I have been searching for a smaller deep freezer for about 20 years. It is just me and my husband and we do not need a big freezer. I will be calling the service center in the morning to see if there is something else I need to do to get it to work properly. If not, I'm taking it back... out of the box and all!Whirlpool 68233-2 Defrost Timer for Refrigerator

Not a Frigidaire Filter, bought 2 filters but could have bought 3 of same from other seller. Amazon should remove item. Didn't read reviews, did not think I needed to for such a simple item.Instead, they sent me a different filter that fits. It came in a different box. The picture they have on is wrong.

Since we already had the hookups from our old washer, I decided to install the unit myself and I am glad I did. Installation was easy, but a $20 hookup kit is recommended so you have all the brass fittings and hoses necessary to get the job done.
This Ascenta SHE3AR75UC is a less expensive machine than our last, and it does show in a few areas. The tub in ours is plastic instead of stainless, and the wire of the rack is a thinner gauge. The door works perfectly fine, but has a slightly stiff action when closing. The control panel on the front is clad with plastic, not stainless steel like the picture seems to show.
This washer is not silent like our last Bosch, but it is still quiet. Noise is the main caveat for not spending $250 on the next model up. Our old washer had a thick plastic casing that encased the lower internals, this one has exposed drain tubes that allow the sound of trickling water to be heard near the front kick panel. The trickling sound can be faintly heard from the next room with the room door open. Not a deal breaker.
Bosch decided to re-design its racks since our model, and I am not happy. I like to fit dishes most effectively for fuller loads. Our older Bosch had larger spacing between all the tines in the racks, allowing the rack to be more versatile for the different shapes of bowls and plates. The new rack has much tighter spacing between the tines of most sections, preventing certain dishes (cereal bowls and glasses in particular) to be fit almost anywhere in the lower rack. Our family has at least 4-6 cereal bowls per wash, and I am still trying to figure out where they should go. The Bosch manual should loading examples, none of which have more than two cereal bowls. I would estimate that the lack of versatility of the racks means that we lose up to 10-15% capacity per load over our old Bosch. Some Ascenta models come with a folding silverware rack that allows you to place it in different configurations for more versatility. I wish our model had that. Perhaps I will discover the secret to the new racks, but so far I am stymied. Not quite a deal breaker, but certainly knocks off a solid star (or star and a half) off of an otherwise perfect score.
The normal cycle takes longer than our old unit.1:55 instead of 1:25. That one half hour is significant if you have to run two loads during a large dinner party. Otherwise, who cares. Fortunately, the machine offers "delicate" and "express" modes that take 1:20 and 0:30 minutes respectively which can serve in a pinch.
The washer does a fine job of cleaning. No complaints so far.
The biggest question is: How long will it last? We bought this less expensive model assuming that the control board or pump may eventually go bad (like most appliances we have had), so when we pass the warranty and extended warranty periods, the decision to replace the unit won't be as tragic. Hopefully Bosch has made some improvements since 12 years ago.
I will update this review if anything changes.

My old floor display LG finally was laid to rest. 5+ service calls and then it started leaking and wouldn't power up. I researched every web-site and every customer review. Bosch doesn't offer an affordable line with a build-in garbage disposal feature, which sounded like something I wanted as an added feature. Never-the-less... It was a holiday week and I needed my dishwasher replaced, and fast. I did my homework using Consumer reports, due to their testing and non-bias reviews. This model rated 81/100, which was the highest rating for dishwashers. I wasn't crazy about the models with hidden controls and I liked the remaining time display. The stainless steel tub is nice (note: the bottom and top aren't stainless steel... rather a greyish plastic, but who cares? The top rack is on a track which I do feel make for longer lasting and easier in and out access. It's not as quiet as my late LG. The sounds of filling and emptying cycles can be heard, however it's not a really big deal for me and it's only a little noticable. I read one review that says the Pot scrubing cycle doesn't get the water hot... WRONG! Opening my door during the cycle gave me a free-steam facial. Not recommended... LOL. So heat is not a problem. Here's what is...The loading problems I reviewed were not great, and this is true. The tines are very tight... Bosch is trying way too hard to make dishes fit. If I was only washing plates, this machine would be a dream. Note to Bosch... Most families use a large assortment of dishes, bowls, glasses, pots and pans. Put some space back between those tines! Some are adjustable but most on the bottom rack are fixed. (I have to be creative at times to get the plates and pots to fit at the same time. Deal breaker? Not really... I just want everything clean. And clean is what I'm getting. This unit is a work horse. I've done back to back washings after Thanksgiving. Even put the pots and pans all together for their own cycle, fearing that some food particles might settle on the glass ware, but this wasn't a problem at all. The filter does need to be cleaned once in a while, but I've only done so twice in 2 weeks, and it wasn't that bad at all. Might have even gotten by with just one cleaning.
Bosch recommends Finish tablet which is another #1 rating from Consumer reports. One soap tablet per wash. Not bad at all. There are enough settings to make my daily use easy. The quick wash selection is good for a normal breakfast. The sanitize option is great and helps the dishes dry as well. There is no heating unit, so that's a plus/ minus for some, but my LG didn't either so I knew what to expect.
For the price... This was a Great deal and I'm happy so far. I can take the little minor loading issues over the fact that I've always gotten a clean load when it's finished. Run times are long, 1-2+ hours, but again... nothing new for me. If you want clean and can tolerate a trickling noise between cycles, then look no further. Easy to self install... (took me 30 minutes) Note to Bosch... I like my products boxed... Not shrink wrapped. Just saying...LOL Time will tell how long this one will last, but so far, it's the best I've owed. Oh... Bosch is noted for the least amount of repairs. Good sale point for me. Hope this helped.
Mr. CaZ
This is the worst dishwasher you can buy. It does not drain. Soap is left on dishes and in bottom well. Contacted Bosh several times and they say its the soap. When I explained that the soap I am using is the brand that they insist on they told me to contact the soap company or use fabric softner. Not worth the money! Dealing with The Bosh Company really not worth it!!!!!!

Bought the dishwasher in November and it stopped working in January. Display light was blinking and it would not respond to any of the functions in the instruction manual. So, at 8pm when I should be relaxing after a stressed day I am looking through the waranty and service information to see how to get this thing fixed. It's brand new!!! I will never ever buy another Bosch again!I am crying over this terrible dishwasher. It is so bad.At first I thought it was just my kids loading the dishes and not getting them in correctly. Then I started loading it and still the same thing, everything was coming out dirty. We finally figured out the water does not get hot except on Power Scrub.I use that setting now but it takes over 2 hours and they are still not dry.We use the Finish Jet Dry and everything.I know this is suppose to save energy and water, but I see little savings if it runs for over 2 hours and I am washing the dishes first.I just want my old cheap Maytag back.
