Scotsman : RFE33A1SC 15 3.0 Cu. Ft. Compact Refrigerator Stainless Steel

We have a Scotsman compact refrigerator and are surprised and very disappointed to find there is no light provided by these very expensive producers of built in bar refrigerators.There is no way to add a light and since most all are installed at floor level, it requires one to get down on the floor and look into the back using a flashlight to see what is inside when it is evening light.

I keep this refrigerator in my back hall.It's purpose was to hold a few bottles of water so I wouldn't have to go into the kitchen with shoes that were dirty from doing yardwork.What a waste of money!The water is barely cooler than room temperature.

I picked up one of these about 2 weeks ago. The unit was used, but it looks like it was hardly used.

First off, It is NOT A FRIDGE. It is a Cooler. The unit uses thermoelectric cooling. That means, instead of needing a lot of power to operate a conventional Cooling system with compressor, fan condensor, and evaporator, it uses a small computer sized fan, and a small chip.

The result is more interior space vs. a conventional unit, and get this... 65W power usage. Thats all.

Its not as good as a real fridge, but it will cool items inside (beer) 20-30 degrees below room temp. so if your house it 75, its going to give you a beer at 45.

The unit is very very quiet, and holds over a case of beer. I have mine right next to my couch, and I can't hear it run unless I really listin for it.

If you know what your needs are and a drink cooler is it, then I say save the watts and get this instead.

It's not cold at all. A bag of ice put in a plastic box is colder than this unit. Don't buy it!!!

Does not work well at all. Goes from being room temperture to somewhat cold sporadically.

My son took it to college and didn't tell me it didn't work. Now it's too late Target wised up and stopped selling this piece of junk. I want my $100 back. Guess I'm sunk. All the other reviews got it right this thing does not get anything cold. Beverages might be safe, but food spoils. Goodbye, expensive cheese.

Water Sentinel WSG-1-4P Replacement Filters, 4-PACK

The filters are an exact replacement for GE MWF water filters. They fit my GE fridge without problem and actually last twice as long as the much more expensive GE or Brita filters. Very satisfied with these for 2.5 years now. Highly recommend.

Is exactly the same thing as the original. Yet the cost is so low. I bought a twelve pack. It is well worth it.

No need to buy the name brand.Im on my 6th water sentinel filter and never had a problem that I didnt cuase.Only thing to watch is sometimes the red "O" ring stays in the fridge unit from used filter.If you try to put new filter on, it will leak with two "O" rings inside.But that would happen with name brand also.Water taste GREAT!!!

I ordered these for a family member and have not yet installed one. They look just like the GE cartridge but are much better priced. I bought these to try out after reading several positive reviews.

These are a good, lower cost version of the G.E. Refrigerator water filters which cost at least $39.95 each. We live in the Country, with a well that has more sediment than city water, and this filter does the job for about half the cost. We have to replace the filter every 1.5 to 2 months, so the savings really add up over a year.

Haier HUM048EA 4.8 Cubic Feet Compact Freezer

I bought this to supplement the top freezer in our frig. It holds alot more than the picture indicates. Great for cook ahead meals, sales specials, etc.

One of the best I have ever seen. It is just the right size for our family.

It does frost upon the top shef faster than I thought, but that is OK.

This review is for a Samsung RS267TDBP which probably shares many similarities with its nearby model number cousins.I also published this review on Samsung's web site.

The review:

Temperature regulation seems to be excellent in both the refrigerator side and the freezer side.This unit is extremely quiet while running but the icemaker produces some strange (and funny) noises doing whatever it does.

Power freeze and Power cool features are excellent our newly delivered and set up fridge cooled down the fridge to 45 degrees within a couple of hours.I forgot how long it took to cool down the freezer side, but it was relatively fast.Be aware if *both* Power freeze and Power cool are selected, the fridge side will cool down FIRST, then it will start to cool down the freezer.We thought the freezer side wasn't working, but after a few hours, the freezer side started to cool.

The design of the interior is very well thought out allowing easy and convenient organization and access to food/drink.

One complaint about the product is the pull out drawer design.They are much harder to pull out than they should be due to the plastic drawer design.The drawer runners/guide are simply plastic against plastic there are no wheels or rollers.I noticed when fridge shopping as the price of the fridge increased, so did the ease of pulling the drawers in and out (and drawer quality).Looks like you need to get into a $2,000+ fridge to get a better drawer design.

There are many complaints about the LED lighting in this series of Samsung products the primary one being too little light.The lighting is *very* well distributed up and down on both sides, but it is for a fact a little on the dim side.While a bit of a detriment, the other strengths of the product make this less of an issue.

Unless you use a very large diameter glass or cup, the ice dispenser will shoot crushed ice all over the place.This is the most significant design flaw of this product.

No regrets about the purchase and I would recommend it to others assuming they understand the weaknesses.

I have owned a Samsung fridge and have had nothing but problems with it. Samsungs I have found out have notoriously had cooling problems especially with the coils freezing. Don't just take my word for it, look up class action on Samsung fridges. I tried repairing this fridge twice with appliance repair companies to no avail. Once your fridge stops properly cooling, it more than likely will cost you less to buy another brand. I hate giving this fridge a bad review as I loved the design of the fridge and Samsung brand products in general but unfortunately they havent really figured out how to make a reliable fridge. For the cost of these appliances, you should get more than a year or so of reliable use.

Although the refrigerator is fine the ice maker is an absolute nightmare. It cannot keep up with even minor demand. It jams constantly requiring a removal and ice flys all over the floor. It crushes even though it is not on that setting. Frost builds up inside the icemaker. Also the front panel can easily be set incorrectly if you lean on it. It has shut down completely several times and required getting the manual out to turn back on. I would not recommend this and I will never buy another Samsung appliance.

Purchased this unit in July 2011 and had to return it because there was something wrong with the control panel and it would not allow me to select either cube or crushed ice unless I pressed hard along the top edge of the button.Then it would dispense the ice in a rather slow manner with a lot of very loud clunking noises (my old GE unit made comparatively little noise when dispensing ice, and dispensed it far more quickly). The seller ordered a new unit and replaced it the following week.The front panel worked fine on the second unit, but the unit would not dispense the ice at all!Returned for a full refund.As it is quite a hassle to keep changing refrigerators, we could not take a risk on another Samsung.

I thought that the unit could use more lighting at the front because when the unit is full of food items, a bit too much light gets blocked.We found also that you will need to double-check that the freezer door is fully shut because it sometimes appears that it is shut but really isn't.That happened to us twice and the second time it wasvery slightly ajar for a couple of hours and condensation built up inside and then froze rather thickly all over the glass shelves and walls of the freezer.

Samsung has made a very stylish-looking unit and for the most part it works well, but it does appear that they have some things to learn about manufacturing refrigerators.

Owned this RS267 refrigerator for a year now and it does a great job of keeping food fresh a long time compared to our $500 standard GE refrigerator. At first it was making a little more noise than expected but I discovered one of the back wheels wasn't quite touching the floor (refrigerator was level but not the floor).I put a piece of felt under that wheel and it became much more quiet.The LED lighting inside takes a while to get use to but you do.The ice maker is slow to make ice but we don't use too much ice anyway.If we turn the ice maker off sometimes when we turn it back on again it doesn't work even though the panel light says it's on.Turning it off then on again always seems to fix the problem (sounds like a circuit board issue).

Love this dishwasher, we just moved, left the old one in the old house and bought this new one/model for the new house, easy install, fit alot more dishes, lots of fun redesigns on spacing, the silver ware draw on the top is probably the most useful new thing, its very quiet, the only noisy part is the draining which you can hear through your kitchen sink possibly, no fault of the dishwasher.it does come with a customer water hose connection so make sure it will reach for your install, it was just barely long enough for mine.its even pretty strong, it handles our 2 year old twins climbing all over it and playing in it as they help us do the dishes each day.

Had a Miele at the last house.New house had ancient, noisy kitchen aide.Thought we could do with an upgrade, so ended up getting this one because it was on sale, and I loved the utensil rack of the Miele.Pros:very quiet, and doesn't use a lot of water.Cons:does not clean all that well (pasta sauce still sticks to plastic), utensil rack prevents washing long stemmed wine glasses, stuff still comes out wet, even with the "sanitize" option, long wash cycles, sometimes utensil rack sticks and prevents door from shutting, utensil rack not user friendly.All in all very disheartening given the cost.I wish I had just paid the extra to get another Miele.

To show I'm not just a grump, I loved my Nissan Maxima. . . cuisinart griddler is great. . . Creative computer speakers are great. . .etc.

The EdgeStar has much to boast of: it is lightweight, easy to carry and move, roomy, attractive, and versatile as both a refrigerator and (marginally) as a freezer. Setup is simple, and the price is excellent. Strongly tainting this appliance however, is a thermostat dial which is either incompetently designed, incompetently calibrated, or both

Before continuing, let's not fail to note the advertised description for this product: "Just turn the thermostat to select the appropriate temperature for your application!"

Falling with equal snugness on the Things That Make You Go Duh list is the instruction manual telling us that "The knob has markings to indicate the relative temperature settings, but in general, turning the knob counter-clockwise corresponds to colder temperatures."

So if we turn the dial one way, it gets colder. Turn it the other way it gets warmer.We can handle that. The markings on the dial bear witness to and confirm this elegant conception of appliance design:

regrigeration------>MIN......OFF.....MAX

freezing----------->MIN......||......MAX

Interesting then, that in practice there is *no* temperature change in the freezer when dialed to "MIN", or dialed to "MAX". I measure both at a steady 20 degrees.

With some playing, one discoversthat colder temperatures are achieved, erratically, within the petite 1.5 millimeter space between the two vertical lines separating "Min" and "Max".

Moving counter clockwise per instructions along the dial after the arrow marked "Freezer", the temperatures I normally get are, in order:

20 (when dialed to "Min")

15 (when dialed to the left vertical line)

4 or 12 degrees (when between the two vertical lines)

10 (when dialed to the right vertical line)

20 (when dialed to "Max).

Perhaps the advertised 0 degree capability is buried someplace within the 1.5 mm space between the two vertical lines, but after several days of moving the dial minutely to the left or right, I'm unable to find it.

Additionally, after reaching the coldest discernable temperature of 4 degrees once, it took me 2 days to find it again while continuing my hunt for the elusive advertised0 degrees.

This is especially frustrating since it takes about half a day or more for a temperature change to be reached within the freezer after moving the thermostat dial -and when you move it, you don't know for certain if you're making it colder or warmer.

Which is to say, this isn't a particular fast appliance: The manual recommends not introducing frozen food to the freezer until it's been turned to the coldest setting (wherever that is) for at least 2 hours after turning it on. That seems wildly optimistic to me. In practice, it takes roughly 5 hours to freeze undersized 1" ice cubes from power-up using the tray bundled with this freezer.

To its credit, the EchoStar is fine as a refrigerator, and fine as a freezer as long as you aren't picky about hitting the the normally recommended 0 degrees for frozen foods.

But sorry, it should not require several days to find the coldest temperature on a device by nudging a dial back and forth within a space of a milimeter. And oddly enough, even without the instruction booklet telling me to do so, I fully expect "Max" to be colder than "Min", and not be actually located at some microscopicly ambiguous point between the two.

"Just turn the thermostat to select the appropriate temperature for your application!"

Yeah. Duh.

I was concerned when I ordered this product based on other feedback.I let the freezer sit for a couple hours after unpacking.I turned it on and set to max freeze and placed an icecube tray inside.It took 75 minutes for the water to freeze.We took it camping with us and after unplugging camper it took six hours for the ice cubes to melt.

1) This is not for you if you're looking for something big enough to store a deer or other large item.For me, it's just the right size.

Just got this little beauty around 5:00pm today and plugged it in shortly after with freezer temp set to max and putting in a new Freezer thermometer. I read the post about defective temp control, but saw that others had 'no problem' so I played dumb and just cranked it up. Just as well, as it is now 7:30pm and I heard the freezer pump go off. I looked in the door and the thermometer was at rock bottom minus 20 degrees. Wow am I happy. My main refrigerator freezer is set well enough to keep frozen foods at 0 degrees and that's what I want this little model to do also. I turned the thermostatic control back a quarter turn to rest it between max and min on the freezer side. I'm thinking that it will now level out at zero.

How it works was my first concern, so now that that is settled I can only also add what others have said: It looks great!

It looks beautifully made and I won't be surprised to have this unit for many years to come. I got it to hold frozen foods I take out of my main refrigerator while I am thawing out my main refrigerator. I'll bet I start cheating now and start using this little gem to horde my favorite Ice Creams or stock up on meats or who knows what. A very good purchase at a very good price. I would highly recommend to a friend.

I've had this freezer for two weeks and am very happy with it.It got cold very quickly and reached a steady zero degrees with only two or three adjustments.(I've checked it repeatedly with a refrigerator/freezer thermometer to be sure it stayed there.)

I long wished I had a very small freezer in my room to hold ice packs when ill or recovering from surgery, because a small refrigerator doesn't get cold enough.It seems extravagant, but is well worth the cost when your family fridge and freezer are down the stairs and at the other end of the house.(Foot surgery finally drove me to buy this.)I use it for frozen foods as well.

It looks good, too I only wish the door had a brushed stainless steel instead of a dull mirror finish.

Two weeks is not long for rendering judgment (or I'd probably give it five stars) but I'm delighted to have it.It's good for recovery and makes things much easier for other family members while you're laid up.

Reading up a bit on the internet, it seems the Whirlpool Side by Side refrigerators have a tendency for the fridge side light and temperature control panel to go out, with this unit being the culprit.(You'll find it in a small white plastic box, near the compressor, in the back of the fridge on the lower left side).Our fridge was a 2005 model, and the equivalent unit was on a white circuit board, with a slightly different arrangement of the capacitors and resistors compared to the picture here.But, this replacement does indeed work and fit in the white box.It is a fairly quick and simple fix, so well-worth just buying the unit and trying it yourself. Here's hoping with the redesign it lasts a little longer than 7 years.
