I've tried plastic coolers and a Peltier cooler/warmer over the years for multi-day (as opposed to multi-week) camping trips.Coolers have barely cooled things and are messy with melt.The Peltier cooler had the same minimal performance, merely slowing the rate of thawing.This year (2012) I decided to get a real baby refrigerator and the Engel seemed to have a good pedigree.I wanted something to fit in the back of my 2-door Explorer, which has a rather small "trunk" area.The standard size MT-35/MT-40 measured to fill up half the floor space but would disrupt access to the spare tire tools.The lid would likely hit the roof, and a fancy slide-out tray would probably be the to make it work.That seemed like total overkill for something I knew I would really only fill a few times a year (for camping trips).Most of the time it would just carry a few drinks and snacks for picnics and workdays at the boatyard.Stepping down the Engel range, I settled on the MT-27.It fits the Explorer with proper spacing for ventilation. The top is about level with the bottom of windows and does not block vision.I use the Engel transit base for a tidy installation and added an aft power outlet for power.I actually wired it downstream of a fancy carging relay for the pop-up trailer.This works out very elegantly since the relay lets the alternator charge the truck battery first, then supplies the trailer.This means when the trailer is attached, the trailer battery runs the refrigerator continuously so it can cool down during the drive to the campsite.For local use, the refrigerator runs when driving around but cuts out when parked, preventing battery drain.
I set the MT-27 to "3" for the initial test run, loading it with "cool" items to start.After a day of continous operation, the contents seemed a little non-quite-cold-enough, so we cranked it up to "4".The next morning, things were getting a little frozen, particularly items close to the cooling element around the top of the box.We tried nudging it back to a lower number and eventually ended up back near "3".Other items to note are that the maximum noise is a gentle hum and most of the time I need to check the lights to see if it is running.The wire basket works great to leave the main unit in the truck but access "everything" for major operations, like loading or retrieving ingredients for a meal.The weight of the empty MT-27 is pretty easy to sling around.I think this is an optimum unit for my casual operation.
I didn't bother with the door handle.It looked like it would come off too easily.But it opens just fine by grabbing the top.Where I have this, it actually works better to not have the handle.
While it was getting to temperature the fans were noisy, but it is now quiet.I actually had to read the instructions for how to set the temperature so it's not quite as intuitive as I like, but heh, I guess 3 minutes to absorb up from down is not too bad.
I love having wine at the perfect temperature.No more too cold white or too warm red.I buy wines to consume, not to preserve, so this works just right for me.I was happy to find a wine cooler just the right size for the space I wanted it in.
The back of the unit makes some of the spaces shorter. I have smaller desert bottles in those spaces.You just have to experiment with what fits where.Too bad champagne bottles don't fit, but I knew that going in.
I highly recommend this cooler for the casual consumer of wine.
I had been looking for a wine fridge for awhile. I had two specific requirements, it had to have dual temperature zones and fit at least a case of wine. This one was perfect. I have had it for two months now and it has held its temperature perfectly. It's really quiet and fits pretty much any size bottle, except magnums. The only complaint I have is the digital numbers on the front illuminate my living room when all the lights are off.I would defintley recommend this fridge, especially for a first one.

This is a great wine cooler. We had a weird size opening in our kitchen so I bought two of these little gems and together they use up the space just perfectly. They keep both whites and reds at optimum temperature and are very quiet. Much quieter than my sub zero refrigerator for certain. They are also stylish and sleep. My only complaint, although I knew this when I bought them, is that they do not have a locking feature which would have made this item six stars if that were possible.
Not the quietest fridge but I don't have it where it bothers me. The only thing that would be better is if the duel zones were switched as the top is the section that gets the coldest so I can only put 6 whites in which I drink more of then the red. (Oh well, I have to fill it more often!) But that wasn't noted in the write-up of the product. The tall white 'Riesling' bottles also don't fit!
Such a simple thing but when we bought our house the cap was missing from the fridge filter and changing the filter became a dreaded, lengthy, involved hassle.
I don't know why it took so long for me to search on Amazon...but I'm glad I finally did.
I brought the water filter cap as a spare in case the original cap breaks.It works just like the original.I can't figure out why a small plastic cap cost as much as $14+.
Needed a replacement for the original, which cost 10 times as much, so I decided to be color blind and go for grey instead of black. Fits like a glove paired with new pur filters found here on amazon. If it bothers me in the long run spray paint.
OK original part from MAYTAG ( they still use that name and why I don't know!) is $30.00. This was under $6.00. Although grey instead of white I opted to purchase. Come on how is it justifable in any way to charge 30 bucks. Where is the dignity and how may people has this part snapped off on after buying a $999.99 refrigerator? Almost bought two. Ah remember when pride meant people cared?

I knew this was a generic, so that didn't bother me. The filters were shipped out quickly and received promptly. The description says these are a match for the Amana 46-9904 filter, which is the one we use in our fridge. However, when we got them, they didn't fit properly and water was spraying everywhere. On the plus side the company gave us no hassle about returning them (except we had to pay shipping back). The company was very responsive and good to work with. So the one star is for the product, not the company.
I purchased these as a replacement for an AmanaWF40 filter.This filter WILL fit but it is not easy to install.First of all when you remove the old filter take a look at the top and notice that there are 2 lips that work to hold/tighten the filter into place.Orient the new filters lips in the same way as the old filter when removed.The new filter will require MUCH MORE upward force to catch both lips while installing.Use both hands if you can and force the filter up and turn clockwise simultaneously.If both lips catch, the filter will screw on evenly.If the new filter is going on crooked, STOP, turn it back and try again.It took me 4-5 tries before I could get both lips to catch and get the filter on. I'm a guy with big strong hands and I can see how many folks would not have the patience or the hand strength to install this filter.If you can, it's a great bargain and I will be buying these in the future.I would also note that there is about a 25% reduction in water flow speed with these filters.Not a major issue for me. I flushed the system with 2 gallons before drinking and the taste is now resorted.
These filters are a recent answer to the expense of replacement filters, and they are NOT the answer.My Kenmore takes filter #46-9014, a number clearly marked on the package of the Water Sentinel.And it does not fit.I trued screwing it in for 15 minutes, finally got what I thought was the "sweet spot", and then screwed it in.Upon trying to get water out of the fridge, water sprayed everywhere and did not come out of the spigot.Bad product.
Everyone please note that these are Water Sentinel filters and NOT AMANA as the title suggests.This is very misleading as this is not the Amana brand name replacement as the title implies , but a generic replacement.I did not notice this until I received the product.The picture shows it, but I do not think they should be able to say it in their title and I am going to let Amazon know about this.
Bypass plug for select GE refrigerators using the MSWF filter.
For those of you that already have adequate water filtration systems, you can save the cost of replacing the GE water filter by purchasing and installing this filter by pass.Water filters need to be replaced periodically or have the potential of deteriorating the water quality and the one in your refrigerator is no exception.This bypass eliminates the filter and has a side benefit of substantially increasing water flow from the tap.Easy to install, less expensive than a new filter, and permanently eliminates the double filter maintenance cost when your refrigerator is connected to your water filtration system.

I bought this filter bypass because our water dispenser wasn't working and I assumed we needed a new filter.It turned out it wasn't the filter but a problem with the valve for the ice dispenser.After much research online I found this is a common problem with our GE fridge.As it turns, I'm glad we have the bypass.Our water tastes fine out of the tap.
Expensive piece of plastic that does exactly what is advertised.The fits into the opening for the water filter for specific models of GE refrigerators. I got this because my water dispenser stopped working and a technician suggested that a clogged water filter might be the culprit. It wasn't the water filter. If you don't care if you're drinking unfiltered tap water from your fridge then this will save you from having to continually purchase their filters.
Unfortunately this one did not fit my GE side by side.It is well built and I'm sure works great in the proper models.

This is a piece of junk. It can barely keep wine cool in the winter with the heat off. The fan runs all the time no matter what. Furthermore, when the room temperature is a tad bit above 70 degrees, the light starts flashing along with a constant beeping. The only way to stop this, is to unplug it.
The manufacturer offers no suggestion other than saying it's probably the pc. In my mind "pc" is personal computer, not microprocessor which is probably what is controlling the light flashing and beeping. The manufacturer offers no method of getting a unit which is properly working, even though they shipped the original flashing and beeping unit. They consider it yours because you, well, opened their box. This is the kind of treatment that gives a bad name to internet shopping.
I had to return it because it was very deep and very skinny, just the opposite of how the specifications list its dimensions. It would not fit in the space where I'd intended to put it.
Sure it took a couple days to truly cool stuff, but then it totally died days after the warranty.
Zero. Nothing. Nada.
I'm very sad it was a wedding present with best intentions, and we enjoyed it immensely.
Now this "thing" is in a Florida landfill.
Consider a real refrigerator if you really care about wine temperature.
Refridgerators cost more to operate, but failure is rare, even at the low-end.Add up your costs and you will conclude as I have that this technology is unreliable.Search the internet and you will discover many like me.
You gave the measurments incorrectly....the first number is always the width not the depth so I had to return it. Hope I get my money back because it would not fit.

After five months of owning this piece of garbage, it just stopped working. Just went dead, for no apparent reason. Rather than honoring their warranty and sending me a replacement, they made me SEND THE UNIT back to them, at a whopping price of almost $40 in postage.(Looking back, I was a complete fool for falling for this.)Then they alerted me that the unit had arrived "damaged" but out of the goodness of their hearts they were willing to send me a RECONDITIONED unit for $70. How long do you think the reconditioned unit would have lasted if a NEW one lasted only five months?
I'm now on a one-man crusade to make sure nobody else makes the mistake of buying these terrible products. They're garbage and the company that sells them is unethical. They dealt with me in very bad faith. Do yourself a favor and look for something more solid, with better craftsmanship and most importantly, a company that STANDS BY ITS PRODUCTS AND ISN'T DEVOTED TO RIPPING OFF CONSUMERS.
Got my defrost heaters in a very short time which is good considering I had to find a temporary place for my food until repairs could be made.Put them in ....so far so good.I'm pleased

We bought ours from Home Depot and we love it.The ice maker is where it should be in the freezer compartment and its no sweat to open the drawer and get the cubes.More than we need overnight.Efficient our electric bill dropped when we replaced our 10+ year old Sears machine.Quiet, and it beeps when the door is left open too long as a reminder.We were restrained in the size by the space in the cabinet so had to but according to size.The old machine had water and ice in the door and that's terribly inefficient and the change is absolutely no problem.We use the filtered water from the sink anyhow.Highly recommended, even though we bought the extended contract because we were not familiar with the LG experience.Buy it.
This 19.7 cu.ft LG refrigerator fits our space in the kitchent. it looks pretty nice, roomy and well made, and works like a charm, very quiet! We love it!
I purchased the beverage center Aug 2011, beautiful product.Broke this July and it has been a nightmare to get replaced since they were not able to fix it (3 visits from the repair company).Everyone at Danby was soooooo nice, but totally useless.It is now the end of Oct...and no replacement.When I called Danby today 10/30/12 I was told that I didnt send them the physical serial #, which I was NEVER told to do back on 10/2/12.I was told the replacement was being shipped and to call them when I received it to discuss warranty on the new item.Today I was hung up on by Maria Pineda, the Danby Manager of Customer Service because I was upset that this was going on for so long...really??Thats how they handle an upset customer?! Please google the company and products reviews before purchasing a Danby product.
Purchased this beverage center 4 years ago.I love this little refrigerator, you can store beverages in one side and your wine in the other and there are dual controls for each side with a beautiful blue light when you open the refrigerator.The only problems is that it lasted a mere 4 years before dying.Repairman says it was made in China and the wires are opposite of what is normal in the US making it tricky to diagnose and repair.Turns out is needs a new master board which runs somewhere in the $500+ range because it is not a stocked item anywhere so it has to be special ordered.Cheaper just to buy a new one, unfortunately.
Overall this little cooler does a great job. Read some of the other reviews and wonder if I happen to get the best from the bunch.
Works real well till the grand kids come over and think its great to have unlimited access to soda pop. Trick like any refrigerator keep the doors closed and it maintains the wine at the right temperatures. The beverage side will cool energy drinks, sodas and gatorade cold enough to enjoy right out of the can. Unit was build into a cabinet we made sure to leave space behind the unit to allow for air to circulate. Have had it for a couple of years and it runs like a champ.
We bought this cooler new and have had multiple problems ever since.First of all, the cooler looks cool, with its blue light, but that is the only feature that we like.Although it is still on warranty, we have spent MONTHS attempting to get it repaired.The repairman advised us that this model is made in China and he was unable to fix it because of what he maintained is an engineering issue. He was very competent and familiar with the unit, but still was unable to fix it.The cooler has two sides that have independent/dual temperature controls.Although it is supposed to cool down to 39 degrees, it only dips down to the 50's.Both sides fluculate wildly.This was money down the drain.The repairman picked it up twice and kept it for almost a month each time trying to fix it. He replaced the board and when it returned the light didn't work.He took it back because the temperature only work properly for days.He returned and watched it and admitted that it can't hold the correct temperature.He left it here and related that he would contact Danby for assistance because he can't disgnosis it. Even the repairman maintained that he could not get any answers from the Danby service experts.The bottom line is that the unit is only useful as an anchor or something that looks nice, but doesn't work.After the warranty is over, we will just have to pitch it out and purchase a more reliable make/model.PLEASE, SAVE YOURSELF AGGRAVATION AND DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT!
We have had this LG product for a couple years.The good things are: the ice maker does very well, the surface finish is nice, and we have no problems keeping the temperatures where we want them.Initially, all the drawers worked well, but not for long.Drawer guides are either entirely plastic or have plastic structures supporting ball-bearing rollers.We now have a handful of rollers with broken plastic pieces still attached and a small pile of plastic pieces which continually break off the drawer guide mechanisms.This makes the drawers all lopsided and makes it difficult to open and close.
For the price of this fridge, you should expect a lot more than initial good looks.Building reasonable quality into the drawer mechanisms was beyond LG in this case and I cannot recommend this product.Of course you can purchase replacement components and have the things fixed, but why should you need to?
