The Water Sentinel WSS-1 is listed as "Replacees Samsung DA29-00003b". Well, that is close to correct, but not quite. The WSS-1 is slightly (about 1/2" or so) taller that the DA29. That little 1/2" doesn't seem like much until you try to insert the filter. In my Samsung refrigerator (freezer on the bottom, French doors, the top shelf on the right is not adjustable. It can be removed, but because of being supported by the icemaker, it has only one place it can go.

I removed the old filter, lubricated the new filter and reached in to insert it. The shelf was blocking it so that I could not get it inserted. I tried several angles. I was sure it would do in because i had just removed the old filter. Then I sat the old filter (a DA29-00003B) and the new filter side by side on the counter. The WSS-1 was just a bit taller than the DA29. It wasn't much ... but just enough.

I need to change the filter, so I emptied the shelf, removed it from the refrigerator, installed the filter, put everything back in, and closed the refrigerator so that the "door open" alarm would stop dinging at me.

The short of it is this filter is longer than the original manufacturer filter and that may make installation more difficult than expected. I will be going back to the DA29 filters.

Those who care about their electricity consumption, should really consider this unit. There are many units out there that are much cheaper and perhaps more practical in size, but this one is one of the few that have a published electricity rating. Some of its Marvel rivals are not energy certified/rated.

I did lots of research on wine coolers and things to look for when buying one, and I trusted consumer report that mentioned this unit to be least expensive in yearly energy consumption.

It uses 400kWh per year, so they calculated the average yearly cost to run the unit to be $47 on average. In NY, of course, it would be a double, but it is still good enough than paying $400+ a year for a dual temperature unit or a unit that is cheaper and more compact.

As the previous review stated, the unit is made in USA and Canada, which is refreshing. YAY!

In general, the unit is quite sturdy; although on a heavier side, its pieces/parts are not flimsy. Sliding racks are super smooth. Bordeaux and Pinot Noir bottles fit with no problem.

It is tiny tiny bit loud when it is running, but we have an old GE fridge (over 15 years old) standing next to it that has been making noise for some time, so now they both can make noise together. I am used to it, so unless you are very sensitive to this type of noise, you may want to pass on wine cooler all together. They all make some noise, period!

Bottom line, I just got the unit. Not sure how it will run in the long run, but I will update this review once there are any changed/news.

Anyway, delivery was a challenge, wrong day for starters. They called on the Monday to say it'd be Wednesday not Tuesday. Given for me it's a 2 hr drive north and a vacation place I've been fixing up for years, not the most convenient thing. The caller told me it was because the truck broke down. The delivery guy said it was because of the Jewish holidays. Then they "got lost', and instead of the 2:00pm to 6:00pm delivery window I got it in the dark at 9:00pm.

Furthermore they sent a box truck that was too large for our hill road, which I'd specifically told them about, not mentioned in the notes, but they did manage to write "stairs" on the order. More on that later. I ended up getting it onto my pick-up in the dark and the driver refused to leave the truck, so the other guy came with me and we got it into the house and then the company charges $25 per 7 stairs that as he was on his own I just said that's enough, I'm not paying to help you carry it down the stairs, so I left it in the box. It did work out with "free" delivery and no State sales tax $300 cheaper than Lowes, but a lot more traumatic. So I went up again last weekend to unpack it and make sure it works within the 30 days

So the Electrolux seems to work well. It can handle 46 bottles, but looses two bottom shelvesfor a "Display" angled shelf that you can have lit. I tend to prefer to have all the bottle's at an angle that ensures the cork stays moist. This still might be ok. The end of the shelves are metallic, not wood.

It's a little loud when running, but they all make some noise, I don't notice it and it shuts off when at the correct temp, which it reaches pretty quickly. There is a charcoal air filter, which I'd don't really see the need for. Running costs are estimated at $45 a year.

Overall I'm pleased. If you live in a regular location and have no stairs it's a good deal. I ordered from HcCost. It wasn't the cost pushed me to this over Lowes but the fuss they made when I tried to order with them online and by phone. At least with Amazon and it's resellers you click a button.

I have had this device for 1 week.

1. It seems to work as advertised.It came undamaged and the shipper HCcost was great!

2. The door requires a great deal clearance on the side to open correctly.BE WARNED.Look at detailed specs.

3. Door opens from left to right (hinge is on the right)Plan for the additional room required!

4. The unit DOES NOT come with a door conversion kit to change the hinge from the right side to the left.If you want the kit, it is approx $117 from electrolux.This includes a couple of brackets, and plastic covers.In my opinion, for a $1500 wine cooler, this is unacceptable.The customer service folks offered a 10% discount, but $105 plus s+h for two brackets, and plastic bracket cover in my opinion is a complete ripoff.For that I unfortunately can not recommend this unit.The cost of the conversion kit is a deal breaker.

I'm posting this review because of my extreme dissatisfaction with this wine refrigeration product line.Two years ago my husband purchased the Edgestar 28-bottle fridge for me as a Christmas gift.We were so excited with the product that we raved to everyone about it.The following Christmas it was all my parents wanted.We purchased this smaller 16-bottle Edgestar for them.Not two weeks later ours died.My husband is quite handy and called to purchase various parts to repair the unit--over $100 worth--to no avail.We were devastated to throw away a brand new unit just one year after our purchase.I spoke with my parents last night and found to their utter disappointment now theirs has died too--just one year after we purchased it for them.This is TWO units that died immediately after a one-year period!These products are not inexpensive and were a costly investment to preserve our favorite wines.We are disappointed in the quality of Edgestar and have vowed to never purchase again from Compact Appliances.We are also planning to warn all of our wine-loving friends in the wine classes we attend to not purchase the products as well.What a disappointing Christmas!

I bought this cooler because it had the lock.The lock is a joke.A 2 year old could get into this cooler.A simple removal of 2 screws on the bottom of the cooler renders the lock useless.Simply pushing down on the jamb also releases the door.Don't buy this cooler if the lock is important to you!

I bought this fridge for short-term storage, about 6 months max at a time. When the fridge arrived, the first thing I noticed was that the build quality was far from spectacular. For the price though, the fridge seems to do its job quite well. I've only had the fridge for a couple weeks now and so far the only complaint is that the fan does not go off and has a low hum that's louder than what I was expecting. One other note is that I've managed to fit 4 wines across of different bottle shapes, but if using larger bottles, they don't seat comfortably and are wedged in a bit. For the majority of wine bottles though, there should not be an issue fitting a full 16 bottles in comfortably. The aesthetics of the fridge is neutral in my opinion neither attractive nor ugly. And there's a nice white LED light in the back to illuminate the bottles, however, it's a bit silly that the switch is in the back so that you have to remove bottles if you're looking to access it.

The bottom line is that for the price, this wine fridge does what a budget wine fridge is supposed to maintain a constant temperature in a constant environment. The only feature that I might add is a digital temperature gauge rather than a dial with no markings. Would recommend picking up a thermometer/hydrogemeter.

I really cannot say enough good things about this particular freezer.We actually have two of these in our home and will soon be adding another. (More about that later).Right off the top though I want to tell you that when you consider the shipping charges on this model and the asking price here, you can probably do much better if you buy locally.If you have a truck or larger SUV you can easily carry this thing home and avoid delivery charges.Anyway...

We went the route of manual defrost as we have had automatic defrosting units in the past and to be quite frank, they, the automatic defrosting units will cause a significant rise in your electric bill.With these small units we have found that complete defrosting is quite avoidable if you simply take a nice and sturdy plastic scraper (like the one you use on your car windshield in the winder) and keep the frost build-up down every few weeks are so then the chore of completely emptying your unit is kept to a minimum.We have found that once ever 18 months or so is quite adequate.

These units are extremely quiet and there is no problem with the motor/compressor constantly coming on.We have both of our freezers on our back porch next to an old refrigerator we keep as a back-up and overflow unit.The reason we choose to purchase and install two smaller units, rather than one large chest unit, is that we found with the large chest unit we simply had too much food wastage over the years.Food seems to get lost in these things and I for one absolutely hate digging thought bags and packages and freezer containers to find one small item...all the while risking frost bite.

We always have a large garden and neither my wife nor I do any canning.This is a choice we made several years ago. All of our produce from the garden in properly prepared and then frozen.We also buy in bulk and have found we save a tremendous amount of money in doing so. The presence of a large or smaller home freezer makes it possible to capitalize on discounts on perishable foods.This we do often. The only drawback of this isthe cost of a deep freezer. You can get one like this for under $300 and the annual energy cost varies, but is usually somewhere around $50 a year. To break even, you're going to need to be saving about $60-70 a year on your food costs. For our family, we can sometimes save that much in a month due to our deep freezer. Between the flash-frozen vegetables bought at a discount, the frozen casseroles prepared ahead of time, the breakfast burritos made at an incredibly cheap rate per burrito, the produce from our garden socked away for later, and countless other little things, the deep freezer saves us money almost every single day.

Now another reason we have two of these freezers (and will soon be getting yet another) is that we keep vegetables, of which we use a lot,in one and we keep meat in another.We buy our meat in bulk, either at the local store or quite often we will purchase a half-beet.And of course there are the fish we catch (I am only able to catch really stupid fish, so we do not have that many fish in our freezer at a given time as overall, as a tribe, fish are quite a bit brighter than I am).

We have been using these units for well over a year now and have had no problems what so ever.They do have a light on them that tells you they are running which we constantly check.We did have a power outage last year that lasted for over 24 hours (this was a real bummer), but dry ice took care of that problem and we saved all of our food.

All in all these are good freezers and if you manage your shopping correctly, they will save you quite a lot of money.They are light enough that my wife and I can move them from location to location (when empty) with no difficulty what so ever.We do not use the locking mechanism on our freezers as there is no way a raccoon can get the lid open and they are the only critter that would be interested in their contents other than our grandsons.

The delivery company called to tell us there was a slight dent & gave us the option to wait for a new one or get a credit from GE.The credit covered the shipping cost.After the delivery company explained that the dent was about the size of a dime & not very noticeable we decided to take the credit.The freezer was delivered on a Saturday which was great since we both work and would not have been available to sign for it during the week.We may not have noticed defect w/o the deliverer pointing it out.The freezer itself is bigger than I thought it would be & has baskets that come out so you can put things on top that you don't want to get buried or crushed by heavier things.The freezer is working great so far in our basement.I went to the store the next day and stocked up on meat that was on sale at our local grocer.I was not able to do this before we had this freezer.Overall great experience with the product & the delivery.

I really like this for the price and the space. It is not an industrial giant and probably wouldn't work amazingly for a large family, but so far, only the bottom is covered and there is probably 8 lbs of beef, a bag of chicken breasts, 7 2.0 lbs sausage, and a whole lot of frozen fruits and veggies that is not even a 1/4 full! It seems to keep the cool well and overall, I can't complain.

We save A TON of money just by stocking this thing with frozen lunch meals instead of going out to eat.I calculated that we will save $2300 in the first year (that includes calculating the cost of freezer itself AND the cost of electricity to run it the meals are about $2.50 each, so you could save even more if you can stomach cheaper meals).We also bought a bunch of "freeze your own meals" cookbooks, but haven't been able to use them yet.I've heard that you save even more money freezing your own meals instead of buying them.This thing pays for itself and fits inside our tiny residence. It runs great we've had no problems with it making a lot of noise or leaking or anything.Just keep the frost build-up scraped off with the included scraper and you should never have to defrost it.

My GE frig stopped making ice and dispensing cold water. I replaced the filter but that made no difference. The water would take 30 seconds to a minute before any came out. It finally stopped altogether. I decided to replace the valve assembly and ordered one from Amazon.For $55, it was a great price. Other retailers charge as much as $80 or more. Shipping was fast and free.

Replacing the assembly was fairly simple. The only problem was the plastic bracket over the input. It interfered with installing thevalve assembly. My old assembly had a much smaller bracket. Ended up cutting it away with a wire cutter. Be sure to label the wire connectors and hoses as you remove them from the old assembly so you can replace them correctly on the new assembly. I simply removed each connector or hose from the old assembly and placed it on the new assembly.

I also had poor water flow due to the needle valve assembly where I connected to the water supply in my basement. The needle valve had become corroded with lime scale build up.I scrapped it down and cleaned out any remaining build up to get the water flowing again. I'll replace the needle valve assembly when I have time.

It's great to have water and ice again and not pay the repairman $300 or more for the house call.
