This is really nothing more than a taste filter it does a pretty good job of making los Angeles water taste good I use this to run to the water and ice maker in my fridge.

However, doing an actual water test, it does not remove a lot of the dissolved solids and minerals.

The overall system is fairly well made it is easy to change filters and you do not have to turn of the water to do so as the filter head features an auto shut off when the filter is removed.

However, the attachment to the wall is a single screw, and the connectors for the water lines are not as robust as i might like (friction fit essentially but then it IS all plastic and not brass.) this is probably better to use with plastic water line, as the flexibility of the plastic line should reduce stress at the fitting. I of course am using copper line, and thus my concern over the robustness of the fittings.

This is a great option for a fridge that does not have a built in filter. The filter is easy to install and easy to change. Water tastes good.I bought extra long tubing and ran it up to the cabinet above the fridge through a small hole made with a drill. Now it is totally concealed and accessible with a step stool.

Simply put...it works.I had that "Water Hose" taste on Ice due to my lines are all plastic.It went away immediately after installation.I only took one star away because the installation instructions lack detail on where the filter is to be placed.But it was easy if you have plastic line from the refrigerator valve to the ice-maker.Enjoy.

Installation was quick and easy.But somehow, I did not seat the plastic tubing in the fitting properly and later that night (bad things always happen when you're not there!) the input line popped out and the entire kitchen and nook were under water.

I reinstalled the system with greater care (and performed major house repairs) and it has worked fine for five years.I does no major filtration, but the water in the cubes and dispenser are good. Works for us.The refer. has one built in, but it costs $60 to change out yearly, or more often.I'll take the GE.Wish the fittings were a bit more secure, though!

if your stuff breaks you will be so glad you did. i purchased this warranty for a haier portable washer. i am covered for 4 years. just think, every thing we get here in usa now, is made in china, and usually made of cheap poor quality plastc. with a washer machine you have cheap plastic gaskets and seals and poor quality machine parts. have a warranty on hand in case you need it

Right after ordering, I received an email from SquareTrade about my contract that I just purchased.Within that confirmation, there's a link to click to "View and Print Your Contract."I clicked it, and it's just a dead link:the top of the web page reads "mywarranties (GIF Image, 1 x 1 pixels)."My guess is that page is supposed to forward you to the actual page, but it just hangs there.I've tried this in both Firefox (v.14.0.1) and IE (v.9), and they're dead in both browsers.

There's also another link for "Questions about your contract?", and when I click that, I get a similar dead page.I've sent 4 emails to the company explaining the problem, and they simply bounce back the same copy of the same document with the same dead links.I've also repeatedly asked them to send me my contract in a viewable, printable, saveable document format like Adobe Acrobat (PDF).All I got in response to my first couple of inquiries were repeat sends of this useless email confirmation with the same dead links.This is ridiculous.There is simply NO EXCUSE for not getting the thing right to begin with, and there's NO EXCUSE for not simply sending a digital copy of the document in RTF or PDF or anything similar.

Finally, after multiple attempts to get a saveable, printable version of the contract, I FINALLY received a message from (I think) a real human, and he has attached a PDF of the contract, but the email goes in about 8 directions at once, pasting boilerplate about requirements for obtaining warranty service, offering vague apologies for hypothetical inconveniences, stating how to send/FAX copies of my receipt to make a claim, suggesting how to buy a supplemental "Care Plan," etc., etc., etc.All I asked for was a copy of the warranty that I couldn't get via their dead links; I FINALLY got the PDF of the warranty, but the links are still dead.

To add insult to injury, they subsequently sent me a survey to fill out to tell them what I thought of their customer service.Wouldn't you know that the link to click for the survey is a dead link as well?Good grief!I simply decided to send my survey reply text to the email address from which the survey request initiated, but it bounced back a message saying that their email address has changed, and they don't tell me what the new one is!What in the world?Instead, they give me a link to a webform to fill out if I need to contact them.Guess what?Yep.That's a dead link too!!!!!!!!!

I sure hope that they do a better job of standing behind their warranty than they demonstrate they are capable of in website development, email account management, and in written communication skills.

I just got this today to replace a GE that cost over twice the price so I will temper my review. The unit sits next to a subzero and the cosmetics match nicely though there are imperfections in the brushed stainless that are apparent if you look closely.My unit came with a very annoying ding in the stainless panel of the door that didn't happen during shipping.I will contact the seller and try to get a new panel or door.The height of the unit is a half inch higher than specified with the legs in the shortest position.I had to remove the legs and get felt pads for the bottom to make it fit under my counter.It cooled right down but is much noisier than my previous one.Shelves are flimsier but perhaps adequate except that there are no side rails!When you pull out the shelf, the bottles on the end can just fall on the floor.Shouldn't be hard to make a fix but the shelf must have been designed by someone that never used a wine frig.Overall it has a pleasing look and so far is doing its job.The bottom shelf doesn't slide out but you can store bottles there, just not see them easily.The spacing of the shelves is actually better than my GE was.Slightly fatter bottles fit any shelf without tearing labels.

Addendum one week later.The seller won't ship just a replacement panel or door but will swap units or give a $75 refund to settle.I am taking the $75 because I don't want the hassle of repacking and shipping just because of a dent.It seems like a fair deal.I found a simple solution to the lack of side rails on the shelves.I cut 90 degree moldings from Home Depot into 16" sections and secured them to the edges existing shelves.Doesn't look bad at all and works great.The pine wood matches the shelves like it belongs there.Can't believe that these shelves were designed this way. The unit is still working fine.It's still loud (even as a built-in) and seems to be running most of the time, unfortunately.Still 3 stars.

Part was at a good price, I installed it with little problems. Take off the boot for the dispenser, and the access cover, and the hinge mechanism for the microswitch for the dispenser, remove the hinge mechanism, and put it back on the dispenser, and you are ready to go. Just make sure the old one is bad. The part holds the timers to actuate the solenoids on the water valve. If you have no ice and/or water, and the water valve is good, and you hear no clicking of the water valve, this is probably what is wrong.

This is, in my opinion, one of the finest basic chlorine filters and screens on the residential market.I have used Aqua-Pure filters (Both Models# AP110 and AP117) for well over 22 years in our 63 year old house.3M Company now owns the Aqua-Pure (a.k.a "Cuno") brand and appears to be continuing to manufacture these filters with the same commitment to quality and reliability as before. I use an Aqua-Pure AP110 basic sediment pre-filter mated to the Aqua-Pure AP117 Chlorine Filter under our kitchen sink to provide filtered drinking water.Although the manufacturer recommends replacing both filters every 3 months, I have found that if you are using this simply to provide non-chlorinated drinking water in one location of your house or apartment, you can easily expect to get 2-3 years before you begin to detect chlorine.This is assuming that you are on a municipal water system, such as Aqua America as we are.

Suggestion #2: When you install the new cartridges, be sure to properly clean both canister housings using hot soapy water and then rinsing, especially if you notice algae (green sediment or slime) on the inside walls of each canister-This is no cause for alarm and caused by light entering the canisters. Note: If your canister housings are colored or tinted, you should not have any algae on your filters.

Suggestion #3:When replacing the canister(s), you must also lubricate the rubber "o" rings or gaskets again, using some petroleum jelly or silicone grease before you replace the canister housing(s) back to your unit-if not it may leak.

The results?Great tasting, clean water for pennies!
