When compared to other brands, the Pentek seems nearly identical in design, filtration quality and durability; but it actually costs less than the leading brand in my area.The leading brand is rated at 6mo / 16,000 gallons .The Pentek is rated at 4mo / 16,000 gallons which seems a little odd as they both have the same amount of gal/filter rating and I've had no problems using Pentek S1-BB's past 4 months.

** The rating of 4mo / 6mois dependent on your water usage and water quality.Push the filter too much and it could clog eventually, slowing water pressure.

Overall the Pentek S1-BB filter is a quality product.It works as advertised and easily can go 6 months without needing to be changed (I only use around 2200-2500 gal/mo).Durable design, like the leading brand(in my area), and a very fair price make this an great replacement filter to use when the time comes to replace your Whole House water filter.4 stars.

well , did receive item on time but once i made the installation the filter stays loose . I drained water as per instructions but water stil smells funny and we can taste the water not being properly filtered . I would NOT recommend this product and regret ordering it.... don't want to give it any "star"but there's no choice when rating it

Bought these inexpensive filters to replace brand name filters.They require alot of time and rinsing, as the initial water filtered through is almost black.

Not sure how effective they are also.

It fits and does the job. But fridge still occasionally freezes the milk, have to manually defrost by turning the timer's knob to OFF a few times (extending the defrost time several fold) then it is OK for a few months. Or weeks. Kind of unpredictable. I think ice forms in the air channel between the freezer and the fridge (the floor of the freezer) and maybe locks the flap that regulates the air flow down into the fridge part. Whatever it is, this timer is supposed to prevent ice buildup by turning on a heater. I wonder if the heater is doing its job. May just junk the fridge if it quits regulating entirely.

Defrost timer is working great but didn't solve my problems with the 'fridge.Needed to replace the defrost thermostat to finally fix and prevent the ice build-up that was preventing cooling.So lesson learned look at both (timer and T'stat) as they are the most common failure points.

My wife bought the GXRTDR in-line water filter because the GXRTQR filter was no longer available and the box said it would work as a replacement.As far as I can tell, it will only work if your old tubing is 1/4 in.Mine is 1/2 in. There were adapter fittings for the GXRTQR so I never had any problem with replacing it.I tried to do an install, thinking that the stub of a tube inside the fitting would marry, but it was too short, so I had to put the old filter back on.I have to either replace the tubes on fridge & at the faucet, or find another filter.

I bought the GXRTDR in-line water filter as a replacement to the GXRTQR filter.What a huge mistake!The old filter had a very secure connection.The new GXRTDR has a "quick-connect" style connector.(Ideally, you cut the tube and just stick it in the connector, and it automatically locks in-place.The connector is a little like a "Chinese Finger Trap" where you stick your fingers in a woven bamboo cylinder and your fingers won't come out until you compress the weave.)Anyway, I've used quick-connectors at my work for many years and never had a problem, but I had never used this brand.I pulled the fridge out of its niche and followed the directions.I cut out my old filter hardware and installed the new filter.I let the water run to clear the initial carbon particles, and then I checked for leakage and the connectors seemed to be sealed.I put the refrigerator back in the niche and sometime that night, it sprung a leak at the internal o-ring seal.My kitchen is on the second floor, so the water leaked through the floor soaking the drywall ceiling in the bedroom below.It was a huge expensive, time-wasting mess.

Like the above poster I got this filter to replace my previous GXRTQR inline filter.

My only complaint is that the outlet port for the water tubing was a pain in the neck to get to go up flush against the area it is supposed to. which resulted in water spurting everywhere.however once I got that in it worked fine.

no leaks or antything of the sort

After years of buying those expensive GE filter cartridges $35 to $50, that the manufacturer hooks you into purchasing when they sell you their refrigerator, I put the blank plug that comes with the refrigerator in and installed this easy to install filter on the supply line in the rear of the refrigerator.Works great, and saves lots of money.I will definitely purchase more of these in the future. I purchased the beverage center Aug 2011, beautiful product.Broke this July and it has been a nightmare to get replaced since they were not able to fix it (3 visits from the repair company).Everyone at Danby was soooooo nice, but totally useless.It is now the end of Oct...and no replacement.When I called Danby today 10/30/12 I was told that I didnt send them the physical serial #, which I was NEVER told to do back on 10/2/12.I was told the replacement was being shipped and to call them when I received it to discuss warranty on the new item.Today I was hung up on by Maria Pineda, the Danby Manager of Customer Service because I was upset that this was going on for so long...really??Thats how they handle an upset customer?! Purchased this beverage center 4 years ago.I love this little refrigerator, you can store beverages in one side and your wine in the other and there are dual controls for each side with a beautiful blue light when you open the refrigerator.The only problems is that it lasted a mere 4 years before dying.Repairman says it was made in China and the wires are opposite of what is normal in the US making it tricky to diagnose and repair.Turns out is needs a new master board which runs somewhere in the $500+ range because it is not a stocked item anywhere so it has to be special ordered.Cheaper just to buy a new one, unfortunately.

Overall this little cooler does a great job. Read some of the other reviews and wonder if I happen to get the best from the bunch.

Works real well till the grand kids come over and think its great to have unlimited access to soda pop. Trick like any refrigerator keep the doors closed and it maintains the wine at the right temperatures. The beverage side will cool energy drinks, sodas and gatorade cold enough to enjoy right out of the can. Unit was build into a cabinet we made sure to leave space behind the unit to allow for air to circulate. Have had it for a couple of years and it runs like a champ.

We bought this cooler new and have had multiple problems ever since.First of all, the cooler looks cool, with its blue light, but that is the only feature that we like.Although it is still on warranty, we have spent MONTHS attempting to get it repaired.The repairman advised us that this model is made in China and he was unable to fix it because of what he maintained is an engineering issue. He was very competent and familiar with the unit, but still was unable to fix it.The cooler has two sides that have independent/dual temperature controls.Although it is supposed to cool down to 39 degrees, it only dips down to the 50's.Both sides fluculate wildly.This was money down the drain.The repairman picked it up twice and kept it for almost a month each time trying to fix it. He replaced the board and when it returned the light didn't work.He took it back because the temperature only work properly for days.He returned and watched it and admitted that it can't hold the correct temperature.He left it here and related that he would contact Danby for assistance because he can't disgnosis it. Even the repairman maintained that he could not get any answers from the Danby service experts.The bottom line is that the unit is only useful as an anchor or something that looks nice, but doesn't work.After the warranty is over, we will just have to pitch it out and purchase a more reliable make/model.PLEASE, SAVE YOURSELF AGGRAVATION AND DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT!
