It was 'ignaugurated' at a party I hosted, and the 5 gal keg didn't last long!(Of course, it was a good beer...locally brewed Pacific Coast Emerald Ale.)

Be prepared:After it's set up and you've had people over, you're going to be QUITE popular!Expect comments like "I'm going to be over at your place every afternoon."Haier America should realize their best marketing ploy is satisfied customers.I've had it two weeks and Haier may be selling 3 additional units soon.

OK, so what about the product rating, especially in light of all the negative comments provided earlier?Well, here's my take on it:

Set up was fairly simple, if you discount the fact that one part was missing (see below).

Quality seems to be adequate. They use quality parts, e.g., the CO2 regulator and dispensing valve.

It's keeping my second (post party) keg perfectly chilled and pressurized.(Since the first keg only lasted several hours, we can't base much judgement on that.)

It's wonderful to come home to a fresh, draft beer!

Finding a place to refill the CO2 canister can be difficult. Most commercial places will only exchange (take your brand new canister and give you a used, filled canister).I finally found a fire extinguisher service that does refills after making MANY calls.

Does this make it perfect?Hardly.

My experience confirms that Haier America has poor customer service.I purcased the unit a week in advance of a party I was hosting. After getting it home and setting it up, I realized (according to the manual) that it was missing the washer that goes between the CO2 tank and the regulator.I called Haier customer service the following morning and was shocked by how they treated me.The basic tone of their response was "tough luck."I would have to follow their procedures which were:1) fax or send via US mail my purchase receipt 2) Allow them two business days from their receipt of this to get back to me 3) After doing a 'confirmation' they would send me the washer within two weeks.

I was irate and told them so!I had purchased the unit specifically for my upcoming party and now would not be able to use it!Their reponse:"These are our procedures."

I did two things after this:

1) I located the manufacturer of the CO2 regulator and contacted them about the possibility of getting a washer. They informed me that the regulator was redesigned and did not need a washer.Haier was supposed to include an update with their user manual (they didn't, and customer service obviously wasn't aware of this change).

2) I located information on Haier America and faxed their CEO an scathing letter telling him what I thought about spending $500 for something and not being able to use it at the function I bought it for!Lo and behold, the next day I received a call from their corporate offices saying they would be overnighting me the missing washer.I explained I had learned it wasn't needed, but the woman calling me wasn't taking any chances. She overnighted it to me anyway.Moral of the story:Make your voice heard when you recieve bad service.

Anyway, my 'washerless' set up is now working fine and I'm loving the unit.

As the other reviewers have stated, the dispenser freezes in the back and does not thaw, nor does the temperature of the dispenser work correctly, mine runs warm even at the highest setting.Although customer service will document your call in Ottawa, their corporate office in New York will not return my call. The three repair numbers customer service gave me did no good as I was also told by one repair person that Haier does not reimburse the repairs and as a result they will not come out to my home.Customer service told me twice that they have recommended to the corporate office to replace my unit, but of the five to six calls I have placed over the past two months, I have not received any calls that any progress or action will be taken.I have been trying to get my dispenser serviced since September.

Overall, as far as the product goes, I have to say I'm quite happy with the beer dispenser. No problems with the temperature adjustment (but then, I'm not trying to keep my beer at 34 degrees), it pours nicely, the components seem to be high quality aside from the plastic hose clamps for the CO2 line, but those were easy to replace with metal ones at the hardware store.

However, I have to agree with the other reviewers, Haier's customer service is...challenging. My wife bought me the dispenser for Christmas (that's true love). She had it delivered to a neighbor's house so I wouldn't suspect anything. On December 26, I went to retrieve the box and set it up in my basement. Upon opening the unit, I discovered that a significant number of parts were missing LIKE THE ENTIRE CO2 SYSTEM, TAP, AND KEG CONNECTION. Basically I had a $600 mini-fridge. You'd think someone in shipping might notice that the box was 25 pound light, but, whatever.

I called Haier, and they were fairly helpful at first. They told me I should fax a list of the missing parts along with my proof of purchase, which I did. They then told me it would be a couple days to "validate" my claim, a couple days to process the order, and then two weeks for the parts to arrive. I called back every few days to see how things were going, and it was easy to get a real person on the phone each time, but these people weren't able to offer much information.

Apparently, Haier's parts warehouse is located on the dark side of the moon, because it was impossible for customer service to tell me when or how the parts would be shipping. No way to get a tracking number, no way to know if the parts were in stock, nothing. So, I waited patiently for three weeks. When the parts didn't show up, I called back and, surprise, they couldn't tell me what happened. I talked to a supervisor at Haier, and she told me the same thing. She started to resubmit the order, but several parts were now showing up as backordered on her screen, with no ETA available.

At this point, I was done with Haier. I called Amazon and explained my situation, and I said I wanted to get an exchange or a refund. At first, I was told to "contact the manufacturer." When I explained that I'd been doing that for the past month with no luck, they agreed to exchange it, no problem. They also said I wasn't the only one this happened to. Within two days, a replacement was on its way, and I had a tracking number. Thank you, Amazon.

So, I didn't have tap beer for Christmas, or New Year's, or my birthday, but I've got it for the Super Bowl, and it's good.

The place I get my kegs from gave me the right washer so I have not had any problems on that side whatsoever.

This was an impulse buy for me.Sure I did some research then one Saturday I was having a party and went and picked this up at the local Brandsmart.Beer would come out cold, not as cold as I'd like but not too warm. One thing I learned right away, you have to let the keg sit overnight before tapping inside the cooler.I'm new to this, so I did not know the pitfalls of tapping a warm keg.I came on here and read some of the reviews. It was not until about a month later that the temperature issue became a problem.I hesitated but took a previous poster's advice and now the beer is as cold as I like.I recommenc going for a half to 3/4 turn on the screw as opposed to a full one.You dont want the thing to run so much that it burns out.I would find it odd how the cooler would cycle on for about 5 minutes then off for 20.Now its on for 20-30 and off for the same.Nonetheless, my Michelob Light has never tasted better.I have not had to deal with Haier directly and from the looks of it, I hope I wont have to.This unit is a good value.Once you get past the temperature issue, you cant ask for a better deal. Both the tap and faucet are good quality as well as he Co2 tank.I recommend you get a better regulator with the "mickey mouse ears".One to tell you the pressure and the other how much gas is left in the tank..

Yes I recommend this.

DON'T BUY ONE!!! the worst customer service! they lie to you and tell you everything is going to be fixed. no response back even after about 10 phone calls over 1 month. Doesn't keep beer cold enough. the electrical plug in to the compressor shorted out and would not work, got the run around from haier customer service,(sounded good, don't believe it.)called the new york coporate office got sorry that's the warranty and will have to pay for the service tech. very dissatisfied with the QUOTE " BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY ADVERTISE!" I hope everone boycots haier products.

Frigidaire FFU21F5HW 21.0 Cu. Ft. Upright Freezer - White

Frigidaire FFU21F5HW 21.0 Cu. Ft. Upright Freezer - White
  • White 21.0 cu. ft. upright freezer
  • Frost free operation
  • Ready-Select controls with upfront display
  • Automatic alert if freezer door is left open or temperature rises
  • Store-More capacity freezer

I have to put my 2 cents in. I sincerely wish I'd done more research before I bought this unit. Instead, I went to a local appliance store where I've done business for years. I bought a new fridge and freezer at the same time, and chose Frigidaire for both because of their so-called good reputation.

There was nothing wrong with our old freezer (25 years) other than it wasn't frost free, and my wife was tired of defrosting it, hence the new frost free unit.

The unit worked great. Couldn't be happier. Until.. after 5 months, my son was awakened to the alarm. It had quit working. Wasn't happy, but these things Do happen.Called the number on the freezer, and was told they'd send someone out. However, being as we live out in the country, they only send someone out once a week. Wasn't real happy about that but what can you do?

So the driver finally gets there days later, and diagnoses it needing the electronic control module. Which of course... he doesn't have on board; he'll have to order it. Not happy, but again, what can you do? So he orders it, has it shipped to our house. However, it will be another week before he can come back. Finally, the part comes and the tech is called, and we're back in business. An ordeal for sure, but at least that's over, right?

WRONG!Four months later, the unit dies again! And it's the same song and dance all over again. This time I question the tech about being a recurring problem with these models. He says they "Usually don't have a problem". Here's where the "fun" begins. He "tests?" the outlet it's plugged into. and claims it's faulty. Says the "Voltage in bleeding from the hot lead to the grounding wire".Interesting. Other than that being impossible (It would trip a breaker) I installed that outlet myself. It is a stand alone circuit to the box, and I am an electrician by trade. Nonetheless, I check over the circuit again, and no problem

Anyway, it was running again, but only two months left on the 12 month warranty. I called Frigidaire only to find out that they are now owned by Electrolux. Told them I've had 2 food losses and we both know this thing is going to die again. What are they willing to do about it? Nothing. Their response is basically, "It's warrantied for 12 months, and we've fixed it, so we've done all that's necessary."

The seller refuses to do anything about it either. Up till this point, I've been polite, but persistent, but the message is clear. We got your money; you're on your own.

A week before the warranty ran out, I called them again and said there was a problem again. Again, they called the tech, the tech called me, and said he'd have to make a service call again. I told him, "Look, we both know the problem is the control board. Can't you just order it now, and come when it arrives?" He reluctantly agrees and a few days later, I have another board. Mind you, the freezer hadn't actually quit... yet. But at least I now have a control board on hand.

Four months later, it dies yet again. This time I have a spare board on hand, so I don't have yet another food loss. (It only takes about 10 minutes to put the board in) I don't bother to call the tech out. If I had, I'd have suffered a food loss. As a precaution, I order ANOTHER control board to keep on hand ($55, plus shipping)

Last week, I had to put THAT one in.

So in closing, I've now had FIVE control boards in less than three years. I emailed Electrolux again, and asked if there was anything they would do about it. I received the form letter that basically said.. "If anything fails, it usually does it within the warranty period. after that we can't/ won't be responsible."

I'm looking for a RELIABLE freezer to replace this 3 yr old unit. Before I have to buy the SIXTH board for this freezer.

Potential buyers?Look elsewhere.

Not much to say, when i bought this I was concerned it would be poor quality and a problem. Not so far, its big, efficient and works great all at a low price. I have only had it a few months but so far so good, the big question is how long will it last!

Want Frigidaire FFU21F5HW 21.0 Cu. Ft. Upright Freezer - White Discount?

Our Frigidaire died today ..after only a few short years.Lost tons of food including some great salmon and halibut a friend who had gone deep sea fishing had recently given us.Won't be buying another Frigidaire.

Our Frigidaire went belly up after only 3 years. We were told that the compressor failed. The repair man said it would be more cost effective to buy a new one.Lowe's can't help us and Frigidaire refers to the fact that they only supply a ONE year warranty.WOW.This is not what I call energy efficent or good for the enviornment.I'd rather have my parents 25 year old freezer that runs like a champ.I'll NEVER buy Frigidaire again!

Temperature: So far it's kept my ice cream at a smooth, frozen state, and the rest of my drinks cold. This is at the highest setting.

Noise: It's not quiet, but it's not unbearably loud either. I have the fridge right by my bed and have no trouble sleeping at night. In fact, if you live on campus like I do, this fridge is going to be the least of your problems noise-wise. I can barely hear it half the time, unless it's dead silent (which it never is on campus).

Space: The dimensions of the freezer can be frustrating, because it's not high enough for most ice cream containers. It can hold ice cream sandwiches and popsicles and frozen dinners just fine, but I have to repackage the ice cream I buy to make it fit.

Shipping: Here is where the most caution needs to be taken. The original packing of the fridge really terrible. The box has no bottom, so when you are transporting it, it's really easy to damage the bottom of the fridge. I suggest transporting it yourself or choosing faster delivery. Make sure to wait 24 hrs before plugging it in.

Overall, this is a good fridge for a college dorm room. The price is affordable and the size allows it to fit just about anywhere. It's also light enough for one person to carrying it short distances. But if you are not living on campus and have the money to buy something larger and quieter, then do that instead.

AVOID THIS COMPANY!! My unit arrived broken. Haier customer service was rude & obnoxious. They were completely unapologetic & seemed to go out of their way to be UNHELPFUL. When I finally bullied them into action, they wanted a full week to send out a service man who may or may not have been able to fix it. I spoke to both customer service and corporate, both were extremely rude and entirely useless. What's more, neither one had the decency to so much as apologize. NEVER AGAIN.

This was every internet buyer's nightmare!

Before I bought this product I read reviews that said that this refrigerator never gets really cold no matter what setting you put it on. I also read that milk would go bad.

But I (foolishly) bought the product anyway, and have learned from first-hand experience that this fridge (1) is just barely cold enough to keep meat from spoiling, (2) is not cold enough to keep frozen dinners frozen, and (3) will not keep milk from getting sour.

I could not afford anything more at the time (price was great!), and I still have this product --just to keep soda and water 'chilly'. But I hope to get a real refrigerator within the next few months.

If you can afford something better, don't buy this product.

I ordered this product early in the season as a christmas gift. I received confirmation of my order, and then I also received confirmation that the product had shipped. Imagine my surprise when at least a week later I received a message from the manufacturer telling me that they'd had a problem, and that the product hadn't shipped after all, and that it wouldn't be available until 12/26. Obviously that wouldn't work as a cmas gift. I cancelled my order. It took quite some time to get confirmation of my cancellation, and then even longer for Amazon to notify me that my acct had been credited. I was stunned to hear that I'd been charged at all for something that had never even been shipped to me. I'm a big fan of Amazon, but I've learned to limit my shopping to those things that Amazon ships directly. I've had bad experiences every other time. In the end, I found a similar (better ?) product locally.
