This wine cooler should be avoided. I bought one last summer and it died after 6 months. It is the second brand of wine cooler that I have owned (Oster was the other one and that died also) and I guess I could try to get the manufacturer to give me a new one but that would probably die in 6 months too so why bother? For some reason, it is really hard to find a cooler that lasts over a year for under $500 which is ridiculous. Also, this cooler does not have a temp. guage which I think is a "must have" in any cooler. My advice to anyone buying a lower end cooler is to get an extended warranty of at least 2 years.

I liked this product a lot...for the first 12 months. I bought two of them one for our lake house and the other for in town. They kept a true temperature, ran quietly and did just what you would expect of a wine cooler; until suddenly they both stopped working. It was uncanny they both simply quit keeping the wine cool after almost exactly a year of owning them. If I was a cynic I would call it planned obsolescence. It's pretty frustrating. I won't buy an EdgeStar anything ever again.

I'm not a big "white" drinker, my collection is heavy on the red side, however I wanted a smaller cooler to get the whites out of the refrigerator.Set up in minutes, cooled fairly quickly and very quiet I've had to check a couple times just to make sure it's on.Love the look and it feels sturdy enough. It's very short I have it next to a chair now in my kitchenand it's about the height of an arm rest.I have zero complaints or issues with it but I've had it only 5 days. We'll see how it survives the long-haul.Not sure if it'll work for under counter as there are side vents and it might need circulation you'd have to check that.

I bought this wine fridge on amazon because I was having a hard time finding any kind of selection in the big box stores for these. The shipping was expensive though. The bottom of mine when it was shipped seemed to be dirty like it was re-shipp'd to me from a return. It still works ok. The fridge stays pretty cool but installing the handle on the door was a pain. You have to take out the edge rubber insulation on the door to screw it in. The big drawback is that it has a cool blue led light and temp change knob but it is in the inside back of the fridge. so you hvae to take out a wine bottle to reach it an usually I would like the controls on the door and only turn on the light (so it doesn't burn out) when I want something. Other than that it is a very quiet efficient product.

This cooler was acquired to replace a similar model that quit after several years of use. The styling is nice as the silver door is preferable to the otherwise boring black that is commonly offered in these coolers. Quiet operation and wine bottles fit correctly. The temperature does seem to get very cool which is important to me. Many of these coolers barely get below room temperature but this one seems to keep the product cool. I took off one star because this item is made in China. The door can be reversed which the description did not mention.

Whirlpool 4210463RW Multi-Use Cleaning Brush for Refrigerators and Dryers

Whirlpool 4210463RW Multi-Use Cleaning Brush for Refrigerators and Dryers
  • Removes lint to extend life of dryer
  • Cleans refrigerator coils as part of regular maintenance for most refrigerators
  • Dryer manufacturers recommend regular lint removal to extend dryer life
  • Helps to save energy, ensure proper performance, and extend the life
  • Also recommended for cleaning refrigerator, dehumidifier, and air conditioner coils

Though this brush worked on my seventeen year old Whirlpool refrigerator, because of a design change to the coils, it's useless on the Whirlpool I recently bought.

The coils on the new refrigerator are placed in a way that it's impossible for the brush or any brush to get past and clean the rows of coils behind the first row.

Odd that Whirlpool would market a brush that won't clean their newer refrigerators.

I found this really difficult to use; it's just too large to use and do any good. It fits in the filter area, but I can't get into the areas where the build up is, even with the smaller end brush. Just will not do what I need it to do, that is, really clean out the lint left behind.

A great way to keep the fridge working at optimum efficiency. Many people never realize that the fins of the heat exchanger can get insulated by dust and lint so they go on letting their system run 2-3x more than necessary. This cleaning wand works great on my fridge and deep freeze to keep them running as little as possible.

A little pricy for what you get (one handyman magazine quoted around $7.00), but it does the trick. Recommended.

Brush isn't flexible enough to do any good.Just a long stiff wire brush. Can't clean the dryer or the fridge.Haven't figured out what to do with it yet.

Swift Green Repl. for Samsung DA29-00003G

Swift Green Repl. for Samsung DA29-00003GBought a two-pack a year ago.The appeal for me is they have a 'greener' manufacturing process, assuming of course the description is on the up and up.To get the best filtration/taste, it _is_ important to ensure that the full amount of initial water run-through is done, otherwise you may notice some odd taste.

Our Samsung stock filters were very slow after about a week of use. These are much better but there seems to be a chlorine aftertaste that we did not get as much of before. Jury is still out.

Magic Chef MCBR240B 2.4 Cubic Feet Refrigerator, Black

Magic Chef MCBR240B 2.4 Cubic Feet Refrigerator, BlackI got this refrigerator at Home Depot for $119, and it works just great. It recommends a cooling temperature setting of 4 out of of 6 max for most cooling temperatures. At this setting, it gives a temperature equivalent to any regular size refrigerator. It chills my milk and Heineken to cold on "4".It won't recommend trying to freeze unfrozen foods in the freeze compartment, but you can put pre-frozen foods it it, like from the supermarket. The only other thing is that given it's light weight, the door can be a little "front heavy"and will tilt the unit forward if pressure is pushed downward a little bit too much on the door when it is fully opened.Otherwise, this refrigerator still gets 5 stars from my review....given that the unit is light weight to begin with (Net weight 38 pounds) Personally, I think it is a great product for $119.1 year warranty on parts, 5 years on the compressor (Parts only) at this writing. This little bad boy delivers at 2.4 CU and operates quiet too.

Wine Enthusiast Silent 12 Bottle Touchscreen Wine Refrigerator

Wine Enthusiast Silent 12 Bottle Touchscreen Wine Refrigerator
  • Reflective Glass Door
  • Silent Cooling Technology
  • Temperature range: 46-66F
  • Touchscreen controls
  • 12 Bottle Capacity

This is my second Wine Enthusiast Silent refrigerator, but this one is a huge disappointment. My first is the 32-bottle version and it keeps the wine cool and is really silent.

This one, conversely, has a couple of pretty noisy fans. I don't know how they call it silent. Also, it kicks out a lot of heat, which my larger version does not.

Finally, good luck getting 12 bottles in here. I don't mean large champagne bottles or anything, just standard wine bottles. I can barely squeeze 8 bottles in here. I would avoid this model.

We just purchased this unit. It is quiet and cools fine. There are 2 flaws with the storage. We used to have a Cuisinart, (which broke down twice in 3 years, so we decided to try another brand), which had a small area to stand an opened bottle in front of the bottles laid down in the racks, which was a nice feature. This unit not only does not have that space, it is not tall enough to be able to take the racks out and stand any bottles in it. The other flaw is the rack design does not allow enough space to rack a slightly rounder shaped bottle. We really liked the Cuisinart design but it didn't work forlong. This seems to be working fine, but it is designed poorly. It makes you wonder it the designers of this product ever tried it out for practical use. It would also be nice if there were interior photos of the units in order to be able to shop with more information, before ordering.

This is a nice small wine fridge that keeps the wine in it nice and cool.Unfortunately it doesn't last nearly as long as one would expect for $160.I can assure everyone that it will not hold twelve standard wine bottles.Would not advise anyone to purchase this one.One side of the fridge stopped working about 2 years after purchase.I am about to replace the cooling fan on that side to see if it will cool again. If not, it's trash.

I've had it for a couple of months, so far I'm very pleased. It keeps a steady temperature and is very quiet.I'm not to happy with the shelving; you must open the door wide and pull out the shelves just to fit a bottle in.This is not the most convenient thing to do.I guess if that's the only problem, I can live with it.

I have removed this unit for repair every few weeks since the ref was new, LG 3 years old, most of the time

the unit makes too much ice, overflows, freezes into big chunks, this throws the timing off on the gears that

are attached to the trip arm. Some times it just wont make ice.

The new repacement unit has a different shaped trip arm. I installed it a month ago and it has worked perfect.

I won't hold my breath though.

I installed this unit about 36 hours ago, so things could still swirl down the tubes, but there is a lot of reason for optimism.

We've had the Kenmore Elite version of the LG refrigerator for almost six years now.Within the past two, the ice maker began giving us problems. The major problem was it would often not stop making ice when the bin was full. The result was the ice would pile up on top of the ice maker, eventually physically stopping it from dumping the cubes. Eventually, the water outlet would also freeze, which meant getting rid of some ice and getting out the wife's hair dryer. The problem was the arm that is supposed to signal the bin is full. This unit has a different design for that arm that solves the problem.

The original unit stored the arm in the up position and would attempt to drop it to detect when the ice bin is full.Ours would get trapped under the newly dumped ice, which for whatever reason did not put the brakes on the ice making process. The new design starts with the arm in the down position, tucked under the ice maker. It attempts to raise the arm when it is ready to dump and refill. If it can not, the process stops until the ice level gets low enough to allow the arm to swing up.The arm returns to the down position before the cubes get dumped, so there is no chance the arm can get trapped in the up position.Problem solved!

The housing around the water outlet also has changed. This is smaller and looks better protected.

Installation is easy: two mounting screws, a plug for the wires and a grounding wire that gets screwed into the ice maker.

Ice makers have always been problematic. I expect 5-7 years before I have to replace them. At least from the design change, I don't think I'll be replacing this one for the same reason as its predecessor.

The vendor, Quickshipparts, got the unit to us in three days, which is very quick.

Solid, better construction than original icemaker and with a few simple turns of a screw I have repaired my own icemaker.YaaHooo!!

Want New AEQ36756901 ICE MAKER Refrigerators for Kenmore Discount?

As I understand it from reading on the internet about icemakers in modern refrigerators, the icemakers only last about 5-6 years.I had a problem with my LG French door refrig after about a year.At that time, LG replaced at no charge.About 5 years later, the icemaker stopped working again.I tried pressing and holding the ice sizing button, but that didn't help.I also took the icemaker apart and found ice in the gearing but that didn't fix the problem. So, replacing the icemaker was the next step.

Replacing the icemaker is relatively easy....2 mounting screws that are easily accessible, 1 electrical connection, and a screw for the ground wire.Connecting the electrical connection and ground wire screw to the new icemaker is a little awkward, but doable. After installation, I had to press and hold the ice sizing button to get the new icemaker started.

I'm thinking of getting a second icemaker for when this one goes bad in about 5 years.

After getting ridiculously high estimates to repair the ice maker in our LG refrigerator, which worked poorly almost from the beginning, I took a chance and searched the part number here on Amazon. I figured there was no harm in taking the old one apart as it had completely failed anyway. I'm so thrilled I found this, and even better, was thrilled to learn the design had been improved to correct the problems that I ran into with the old one. I easily installed the new unit myself and it has worked as well as I could have hoped. Definitely recommend this purchase if needed.

Almost 10 year old Whirlpool Duet gas dryer stopped drying our clothes! Thought we'd have to buy a new one. Hubby said, "Google the problem first." Very glad I did. Ordered this part, helped him install it & although it doesn't look exactly like the part we removed, it absolutely solved the problem. Has worked just fine the past 4 months. And, like a previous reviewer mentioned, it was the perfect time to vacuum all the old lint out.

I have an older Kenmore (Whirlpool) EvenHeat dryer that was finishing the cycle before the clothes were dry.I replaced this little part and I was golden! It does look different than the older black part with some sort of glass and copper looking protrusion vs. the white bump on this one.I acccidentally replaced the thermal fuse next to it at first and was disappointed the "thermistor" repair I thought I did didn't actually fix the problem. Right replacement solved it though.

My Kennmore He3T dryer was throwing an "E1" error code.10 minutes and this new (and improved) thermistor and we're back in business.

Luma Comfort EC45S Tower Evaporative Cooler

Luma Comfort EC45S Tower Evaporative CoolerI live in a 1 bedroom apartment in Hollywood CA. I have an in wall ac unit like most people do out here and no A/C in my bedroom. So I decided to try this out.... Well I couldn't be happier. Even with my window closed this fan is strong enough to keep me cool. I usually don't even put water in it but if you want it to be cold get 2 gallons of water put them in the fridge for a day then throw them in this thing. Will make it even colder. I get very hot very very easily and still have no problem with it. Love it!

It does not blow cool air whatsoever. I tried putting the ice packs it comes with it in, put a bunch of ice cubes too didn't do anything. Also put it next to a cracked open window and didn't do a thing. This this is a piece of junk avoid wasting your time and money on this "cooler". Another thing i noticed is that the fan isn't lined up with the opening to it blows the air in a weird angle. All around cheap crappy product. DO NOT RECCOMEND

We've been using evaporative coolers for years now and now what to expect out of them (they're not ACs and do best in the right type of environment hot/dry).We purchased this tower unit to keep our semi-enclosed patio cool during this Southern California heat wave and it's been working great so far.The area we're cooling is about 100 square feet total, and this product provides a nice, cool breeze. It really helps to have cool air from the outside circulating when you're using something like this.Construction is sturdy, and we like that the unit oscillates. It also comes with a remote control.Overall this product has worked extremely well for us and we'd recommend it.

I purchased this product because my office tends to be around 5 degrees higher than I'm comfortable with.I looked around for a protable air conditioner, but since I did not have a place to vent that was rulled out plus they are really expensive.I read all the reviews and decided to take a chance on this product.

My office is only 150 SF so the room is small, plus there is air-conditioning in my office.I am in the NorthEast so our summers are hot and humid.

The Cooler is definately working and dropping my office tempurature around 5 degrees just enough to make it comfortable. The cooler packs that they provide help keep the water cold and produces a very fine mist (I can feel it sometimes but it does not impact paperwork)

The only reason I did not give the product a full five starts is that it has a small "tinkling" sound when the water is running though it's cooling process.Makes me need to "tinkle" myself.

I don't think this product would work outside in the humidity in the northeast but if you need an office or cubicle that needs a bit of cooling this product works great.

  • Dimensions (WHD): 44 1/4" X 68 3/8" X 47 5/8" In.

When we remodeled our kitchen in 2006 we had the following criteria for our new refrigerator: counter depth, water dispenser in the door and ice maker (not necessarily in the door)

After many hours of research, both online and at different stores we selected an LG French door model with freezer on the bottom.

After it was installed we noticed that the temperature showed over 90 degrees, whereas the room was about 72 degrees. Also the water dispenser flowed very slowly. According to the manual you were supposed to pull out the unit and vacuum the back. Since the unit had just been installed we called support and they referred us to the authorized tech who came out to check it. He then told us that the fridge is designed to be free-standing in the room, not "pushed" in the space between the cabinets. And then the temperature gauge would function correctly. Note the unit is NOT built-in. The water trickle from the dispenser was working as designed.

About one year later, yes, right as the warranty had expired in 2007, a small, thumbnail sized plastic tab broke off the bottom wide draweralmost $300.00 in parts and labor to replace.

In September 2009, the plastic frame that holds the bottom glass shelf (over the two half size drawers) broke in the front left corner and it is now held together with duct tape. Two weeks later another tiny plastic part that holds the lid to the left most drawer.

When it comes to the general construction and design of the drawers it is substandard and LG should be ashamed of themselves. The half drawers are designed for fruits and veggies, but if you put anything heavier than lettuce in them, they fall off the convoluted rails and you need an engineering degree to put them back in. In 2010, one of the veggie drawers completely broke into parts.

Support and customer service assures us that we are the only ones ever complaining about this. Replacing plastic parts is `standard maintenance'. It seems the design of metal rails and bars in combination with tiny plastic tabs and attachments is a very bad combination

If you put bottles weighing too much in the doors they do not close properly and you have to give them an extra forceful push. LG service and support has not provided any service, just excuses.

Not 5 years after purchase, we are looking for the replacement, while the 20 year old GE in the garage is still whole. On a scale of 1-10 we put LG at about a minus 5never fully functioning, insufficient materials design, and poor service satisfaction.

ps. We are a couple in our 60s, not a wild group with teenagers running around.

About a month after I got married last year, our hideous, harvest gold, dilapidated refrigerator graciously went off to be with the Lord. We couldn't really afford a replacement, but I was secretly doing backflips that we could get something nice, spacious and not so hideous. While saving up funds to buy a new fridge and living out of a mini dorm fridge for 3 months, we researched various models. We definitely wanted the stainless steel variety and wanted a bottom drawer freezer... and this LG did not disappoint.

The drawer slides open and closed easily with just one hand and tends to hold quite a bit of weight with the stuff we cram in there. The side door is generously spaced to accommodate 2 liter bottles, salad dressing or just about anything else. Our frozen stuff stays frozen and the cold stuff stays cold.

My criticisms are few, but I do have some:

Frost/ice accumulates on the left side of the drawer occasionally, so sometimes some drops off on the floor.

The left door swings closed on its own you can easily prop open the right door to load in something big and heavy, but the left door will not stay open for you.

The shelf adjustment is not very elegant you have to take the shelves out and stick them back in at a higher tier. Some competing models had a hand crank which was easier to use.

The top of the vegetable compartments is covered with 1 giant piece of glass. It is hard to get out and very awkward to clean in a sink if something spills. This would have made a lot more sense if it were segmented into 2 or 3 sections for easier handling.

While I know it's par for the course with stainless appliances, it's very irritating to not be able to use magnets to hold something important on the front of the fridge. It's steel, not aluminum. It makes no sense. One day, I'd like it if some manufacturer would come out w/ a stainless model that was upgraded to use magnets!

The ice-maker is a tad tiny, so it gets jammed with ice frequently, causing us to take the basket out and fiddle w/ the ice to get it to move down the chute.

The digital panel for selecting crushed or cubed ice is too complex... you have to press buttons a few times to get it to 'take' this could have been executed better.

The lighting is the best I've ever seen in a fridge no harsh bulb in your face very easily-distributed light throughout. So far, it's one of the nicest refrigerators I've ever owned.

We've had our fridge for over two years now and still love it!Its huge.We had zero problems with ours.I dont know what the other reviewer was thinking but if you mistreat your stuff it breaks. Ive had no problems with my doors closing with large/heavy bottles in them. This is because my fridge in level like the book tells you to. Water squirts out just fine. I'd say if it alows down your filter is old and needs to be changed. I'd say the water comes out harder than most.

The only bad thing, and its not that bad, is th ice maker. It doesnt hold a ton of ice. So, If your having a party you need to go get a bag.

We bought this fridge and only a few weeks after using it, the water dispenser was all scratched up and the ink that says "water" started coming off. Not what we expected after spending good money on a fridge. LG said it was cosmetic and wouldn't cover under warranty, when clearly not excluded by written warranty. Customer service was horrible.

We bought this refrigerator eight months ago and have really enjoyed it. My wife and I have four children, so we load up both the fridge and freezer sections. We are always surprised at how much it will hold. I often open the door wondering where another plate of leftovers will go and somehow it just fits. For example, we keep four gallons of milk in one fridge door along with numerous bottles of condiments and usually a sippy cup or two. The slide out tray holds a deceptively large amount of stuff.

We couldn't be more pleased with ours and have had no problems, although sometimes the ice comes out a little crushed when it is supposed to be cubed. And we really like the way it looks.

I would recommend it and would purchase it again.

Had it since July. The doors require a conscious effort to close, which after two months, we have not mastered. There is a soft beeping alarm that sounds after a time if the doors are not sealed.Despite this, we all find the doors ajar for no reason. The freezer frosted over after about 24 hours of being slightly open (we were gone overnight).Maybe we've had a lifetime of old fridges with inefficient, easy to close doors and need more time to get used to this fancy piece of equipment?I'd like to observe other "high-end" fridge doors in action.

Also, the ice cubes and crushed ice comes spraying out, making it difficult to capture them in a glass underneath the shoot. The inset tray does not have a drain for the melted ice which does not (in volume) make it into the cup.We keep a cotton rug nearby to absorb the water that comes from the ice surging beyond our containers onto the floor. The water that pools in the tray we soak up with a towel.

The fridge came new with a new house.

We remodeled our kitchen in Feb 2012 and bought over 5K worth of SS appliances (and 5-year warranties) from Brandsmart in Deerfield Beach,Fl including this lovely-looking Whirlpool-Gold stainless-steel French Door Bottom Freezer refrigerator. Just 6 months later the plastic CENTER SUPPORT SNAPPED IN THE FRONT to cause the 2 vegetable/fruit bins it supported to 'fall' and become cockeyed (dropping inward, toward the center next to each other); this made the veggie bins hard to pull out and made the bottom DELI bin impossible to pull out (since the 2 veggie bins above it were now sitting upon the DELI bin below them).

There was no problem with Whirlpool Customer Service to send out a new plastic center support REPLACEMENT part since this was well within the 1-year warranty period from the Manufacturer (and the Brandsmart 5-year warranty period). Installing this part was easy and at first we chocked this up to 'infant mortality' where a somewhat defective piece of plastic had gone bad...(but we were WRONG!)...I say this because just 6 months after installing the REPLACEMENT part from Whirlpool, the same thing happened again...the same plastic center support SNAPPED IN THE FRONT to cause the 2 vegetable/fruit bins it supported to 'fall' and become cockeyed (dropping toward the center, and making the DELI drawer impossible to open).

Examination of the failing part shows a very weak engineering design concept in my opinion...that a 1/8-inch-thick piece of plastic that's about 1-inch wide, front to back could support the contents of not one, but TWO Vegetable/Fruit bins. Everyone knows that apples, oranges, pears, lettuce, lemons, and nearly every kind of fruit or vegetable has some WEIGHT that must be supported, and in this case the weight of a normal amount of veggies and fruits will cause the breaking failure of the plastic center support over time (6-months in my case). I have never owned a refrigerator with such a flimsy support system for the vegetable drawers or had to 'estimate' how many pieces of fruit or vegetables I could safely ADD to the two bins to avoid this CENTER SUPPORT SNAPPING failure due to their weight. So now I have an expensive piece of stainless-steel fridge that looks great on the outside but is very poorly designed inside with respect to the CENTER PLASTIC SUPPORT that really 'CAN'T SUPPORT' much weight in the vegetable/fruit bins at all.

To make matters worse when I called up Brandsmart Warranty services for a new veggie-bins center support the girl I spoke with told me "THIS ISN'T SUPPORTED BY YOUR WARRANTY TERMS AND CONDITIONS"and that they would only support "ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL FAILURES of the fridge". When I questioned why a SNAPPING PIECE OF PLASIC THAT SUPPORTS TWO VEGETABLE/FRUIT BINS didn't fall into the MECHANICAL FAILURE category, she still denied my logic; when I asked to speak with a supervisor a man got on the phone and backed up the poor girl that first answered the phone... so I told the super I'd find a new place to shop the next time, and would never buy another Brandsmart Appliance or Warranty again! I reminded him that when I bought the FIVE-YEAR WARRANTIES for all my new kitchen appliances in January, 2012 the salesman told me they would cover "ANYTHING THAT WENT WRONG" with them...the Warranty Supervisor told me that I was "misinformed" and that I should have read the terms and conditions before purchasing the warranties. I told him that I'd believed their salesman to be an honest guy and there was no mention about 'not replacing broken plastic parts' within the appliances when he sold me the warranties. So much for Brandsmart Warranties!

The good news is that I was able to buy a replacement plastic center support part from a local appliance parts store for under $20 that included a "free replacement of the part for LIFE". I installed the new part and will now hope this replacement part will last more than the 6-month lives of the first two that broke! Honestly WHIRLPOOL, did you ever TEST for the breaking weight of this extremely flimsy plastic center support for your two vegetable/fruit bins before releasing this refrigerator for sale? In my opinion the only thing that will permanently repair this engineering flaw is a center support part manufactured from metal instead of the plastic part supplied. For this reason only I'm giving this refrigerator a '2-star rating' as the rest of it has been working fine so far. (knock on wood!!!)

Want Whirlpool 26 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator - GI6FDRXXY Discount?

We bought this fridge about two months ago as a replacement for a horrible Samsung that flooded our house. So far so good on this one.

It's big, with good-sized veggie and deli drawers, lots of tall shelves (once we took an extraneous one out), and a deep freezer. Everything seems to be kept evenly cool, except for a cold spot in the top middle where we found inadvertently frozen condiments. Now that we know, no big deal. The french doors work fine -the one that is supposed to be 'behind' the other will open/close independently with a bit of extra attention, and the alarm will let you know if you've forgotten it.

The only downside is the ice maker, which is ridiculously noisy both when filling with water and with chopping up the ice (or whatever it's doing). The capacity isn't nearly what you'd expect from such a big fridge; it runs out of ice after not many glasses. It has also jammed up with ice several times, requiring us to remove the ice from the top of the mechanism to prevent it from slowly melting into the little door tray all day. So definitely not a win in that department. But if you're mostly using the fridge as just a plain old fridge, then it's a good one.

I purchased this fridge from Lowes on May 1. By early August the ice maker was dripping. I called Whirlpool and they sent out a service person. HOWEVER...before the repair guy arrived I realized that the entire unit was warming up. The dripping was caused from the ice melting (and pouring out the dispenser, down the front of the fridge). The freezer contents were thawing and the milk and meat in the fridge section were spoiling. Helpful Whirlpool customer service suggested I "reset" the computer by unplugging and replugging in the unit. Surprise! The compressor had been off, which I didn't realize. The unit began cooling down again and I hoped it was ok. But when the service guy arrived the next day he read the temperature and said my fridge was 47 (I had it set at 33) and the freezer was 44 degrees (set at -1).According to him, the sealed system was flawed. They were going to need to replace the evaporator, compressor and all the freon. It would take a few days to order parts and be a long process to replace the entire refrigeration function of my 3-month-old fridge.

The AMAZING part: Lowes is REPLACING my unit (hurray!) within a day, the price has gone down so I'll get some $$ back. Hopefully it will not go into repairing the stupid thing in another few months. But I'm really proud of Lowes. Fingers crossed that I don't have a big piece of garbage in my kitchen.

Liebherr CS1640 30 Inch Bottom Mount Refrigerator

Liebherr CS1640 30 Inch Bottom Mount RefrigeratorBought our 30" CS1640 in July 2009 from an appliance dealer in Bellevue, WA, for the same amount advertised here on Amazon. We live in an unincorporated area 32 miles east of Seattle, Wa.

Likes:The height, style, overall appearance and accessibility inside the refrigerator are really great.

Dislikes:The refrigerator does not "cool" to the appliance temps that USA citizens are accustomed to. Everything stored in the refrigerator spoils in half the time that the problem occurs in US-manfuactured refrigerator/freezers.The ice maker produces minimal amounts of ice; has never filled the entire ice maker bin, as US oriented refrigerator/freezers do. In addition, 2 months ago, one week to the day after the 2-year warranty expired, the interior around the bottom freezer drawer began freezing up. At first, I didn't understand what was happening, then I discovered a full layer of thick ice build-up.That's when I contacted our dealer for a service call. That's when I learned that Liebherr controls all service calls from their service center in Scottsdale, Az.And that's when I experienced perhaps the poorest customer service I've ever had with an appliance, and I've been buying appliances for 40 years. Not only did the rep inform me (without benefit of a service call to analyze the issue)that my issue would not be covered by the warranty; she referred me to (3) service providers who are not licensed and bonded as businesses in the State of Washington. When I called back to get more providers, I was told they could not help me! And I bought this refrigerator because of Liebherr's commitment to the environment, promise of excellent service, etc.

Bottom Line:Had I known then what I know now, I would not have made an investment in this product.
