KitchenAid KFIS27CXMS Architect Series II 26.6 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless Steel

KitchenAid KFIS27CXMS Architect Series II 26.6 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless SteelOur old fridge died and gave us the impetus for a kitchen remodel. So in a pinch and without a fridge I bought the KFUS27CXMS sight unseen. I was hesitant given the reviews about noise and doors closing, but suffice to say I haven't had issue with either.

It's not whisper quiet, but my bedroom is right behind the wall where it is installed (1960s house, no internal insulation) and I can't hear the fridge at all from there. In the kitchen when the compressor comes on you can hear it, but it's no where near as bad as I had expected from reading the reviews. It's quieter than my old Kenmore it replaced so for me the noise is a non-issue.

The door works fine on mine as well. They are easy to close and require no additional effort. I can give them a little push and let them swing closed on their own momentum, no need for a second push to make sure they are secure.

I will report back on the ice maker after I few more months of service and update my review if I find issue there.

I've had this fridge for 2 months now, along with the matching stove, micro, and dishwasher. It really gives the kitchen a whole new look. This fridge has worked perfectly from day one. Quiet, plenty of space, consistent temps. No complaints! I would certainly buy another, or recommend this to others.

I was sooo excited to get my new Kitchenaid refridge! I bought a returned model that was supposedly in complete working order (Learned my lesson & will never do that again, but heck, I was saving $1,200 on it, so thought it was worth the risk and bought the extended warranty just in case.)

Anyway, It never made ice properly. Very tiny cubes and only about 6 cubes per day.Initial service at my house (which actually was the second service on the refridge) had the tech scratching his head and said it must be the fan not running continuously to pull the cold air up from the freezer. Ordered new fan & new wiring.Had that installed a week later & it was worse! Only made about 6 cubes every couple days.Called for another service on it. This time Whirlpool (division of Kitchenaid) scheduled a "master" repairman to come see it. They promised me a Monday morning appt. but they were a no show. Called Kitchenaid again and got someone the next day from another repair company. This tech spoke with Whirlpool directly about the problem history and was told to order a whole new icemaker (7 to 10 day turn around on parts) and "if that doesn't fix it consider the motherboard might be bad."Geez Louise!

After sitting home for service repair 4 times I had had more than enough of this! The store where I bought it is getting it back! They waived the restocking fee & gave me a discount on a different brand. If you decide to buy this one, I'd be sure to get the extended warranty.

Nice features.Agree on the door closing issue need to push left door twice to close. Most irritating is how loud it is when running.Noticed this immediately.Much louder than the GE I replaced and other maytags I have owned. For this price, noise should not be an issue

I purchased this equipment in March 2010 and have had not less than 8 service calls to my home addressing the icemaker. It started with water running all over the refrigerator and newly installed hardwood floors. The tech came out and repositioned a fill tube that was installed wrong during manufacturing.Next, it frosted the outside of the icemaker and failed to make ice, so they replaced a seal.Next it quit making ice and delivering water to the door, hence a new water valve. It failed to make ice again, so they replaced a circuit board. It is no longer making ice and has started frosting the outside of the housing again and they want to replace the icemaker mechanism. Many of thses service calls triggered a call to the KitchenAid tech line, so it wasnt a service tech's inablility to properly diagnose a problem.A few weeks ago when it quit working, I was graiously told by the customer service rep that this machine was obviously a piece of dirt and when the next guy came out, I was to have my refrigerator deemed as "unrepairable."Well, today when the tech came out he was told to replace more parts.I called customer no service and was told, "too bad, our warranty only repairs the equipment and when the warranty expires, you are on your own."This was told to me by a person who represented himself as a Whirlpool member of management.

I have built more than 350 homes in my career and I will not ever refer my homebuyers to KitchenAid again.I have been treated like I bought a used Hugo.I would not buy this junk and am trying to figure out a way to get it out of my new kitchen.
