I purchased this after my copper water icemaker line began to leak and damaged my hardwood floor. Turns out, hardness in water can eventually cause pinholes in thin copper lines. This left plastic as the only replacement option. After discovering that virtually every standard plastic icemaker hose sold in the big box stores had a cancer warning on the label, I decided to use PEX. Note: Even the stainless steel braided lines have standard plastic inside. This Whirlpool PEX line is heavy, worked great, and had no cancer warnings. The only negative is that PEX icemaker lines are like springs and working with them is a little difficult.
