GE 3.2 cu. ft. Compact Refrigerator - Black

GE 3.2 cu. ft. Compact Refrigerator - Black
  • 3.2 cubic feet
  • Black cabinet, door, handle
  • Wire Can Dispenser, Can rack in door
  • 3 Adjustable shelves
  • Reversible door

I also bought this at Sam's. Be warned: the picture on the box shows another model, which is built-in/recessed. This model requires approx. 2" clearance on each side and should not be recessed.

The fridge is around 29" in height--just below counter-top in our kitchen. This made it easy to find a space for it.

What I don't like about it is that the rear mechanism is uncovered; also the racks are wire racks (when you put bottles on them, they tend to tip over). The crisper has a cutout in the center which simply reduces space...if it wasn't there, you could fill the crisper with cans quite nicely. Instead, I had to remove it completely. Not a big deal.

If you raise the top shelf to only about 4" height, it can hold wine bottles (etc.) on their sides. This allows one of the racks to be sized for 12 oz. bottles. If you don't do that, you can have all racks hold cans, and it will hold a lot of cans, maybe 75?

The middle setting (roughly a 5.5 on a 1 to 10) dropped the temperature to 32 degrees in about 24 hours. I'm assuming the lady above me was getting frost because she was turning it down too low. Do yourself a favor and find a thermometer to get a good temperature. You definitely don't want it below 32; in addition to potentially frosting over, it will cost you more money to run it.

Don't forget--when you buy a new fridge, let it sit for 24 hours before plugging it in! If you don't, all the oil in the compartment will not have settled and the refrigeration components can be damaged. I'm wondering if that's why so many people had to return their first purchase and exchange it for another (this is a common review at the Sam's website).

This is 5 stars based on the price I paid.

WE bought this fridge from Sams Club about a month ago. It works well at keeping drinks cold. We did specifically did not want a freezer section so that part was perfect. My issue is that it is a manual defrost, I did not even realize thatany company still made a fridge that had to be manually defrosted. That is the only dw frustrating to downside so far, but how frustrating to know that I am going to have to take everything out at some point and defrost it then let it rechill before I can restock it. So every few months bcomes a two day process.

I'm loving this little refrigerator. I use it for bottled drinks which saves a lot of space in my full sized fridge. It cools the drinks evenly and has no flaws that I have seen. The only drawback I'd mention is that it's a little bit ugly. It has a lock on it, which would certainly be perfect for dorm room use, but that makes the overall appearance a bit more like a safe and less like a refrigerator. I would just as soon that it not have the area for cans in the door, since I buy all of my drinks in bottles, but it has tons of space elsewhere, so there is no loss created by having that space specially designed for cans. I also keep some cheese in the fridge, and it works beautifully to keep that cool along with the drinks. I recommend it, and I think that the lock would be a valuable feature to many people out there.

Panasonic NN-SD372S 0.8 cuft 950-Watt Microwave with Inverter Technology, Stainless Steel

Panasonic NN-SD372S 0.8 cuft 950-Watt Microwave with Inverter Technology, Stainless SteelI had a Magic Chef 0.7 cubic ft microwave for 10 years and the turntable gave out.

Same kind of door opening so I'm not concerned about that not holding up.

There are quite a few things to commend the Panasonic.

The size is perfect for me at 0.8 cu ft.It fits all my plates easily, takes up little space and is light in weight.I previously looked at Costco's 1200 watt Panasonic but it was too big and too many watts.

This Panasonic at 950 watts does not blow my circuits yet heats quickly. It is simple to operate.

The highlight for me is how it defrosts.I love the inverter defrost function.

This was the only small model that I found that had the feature. It defrosts beautifully.

(I had given up defrosting anything in the Magic Chef---It always cooked the edges.)

I also like the quick minute button.

I don't know that this machine would be the answer for someone who actually cooks in the microwave.........For me it meets my needs for reheating and defrosting, perfectly.......I save my cooking for the Breville Toaster oven........

P.S.Just wanted to add that the turntable is 11 inches--not the 13 stated in the description.

Bought this product because we had a limited space.

It does all the thing the others do but it weighs

less and takes less space.....add to that the

price and you have a price performer

I am glad I purchased the Panasonic NN-SD372S.It's quiet and heats food evenly and quickly even with only 950-Watt.It would be nicer if it has stainless steel all around instead of just the front door.

It weights much less than my old and noisy Kenmore microwave.

The best feature for me is the knob for adjusting weight and time, very convenient.

I had my old microwave (a Sharp Carousel) for over 20 years when it finally pooped out. I did a lot of research before I purchased this Microwave from Amazon. I decided on the Panasonic NN-SD372S 0.8 because of the Inverter feature and it's 950 watts and most of all the customer reviews. When I received it I thought it would be too difficult to uses because of all the features it had and just glancing at the directions made my head spin. But I read through the directions again and they seemed to make more sense. I love this microwave. I've only used it with the power levels and minute timer and I also used the popcorn setting. It is very quiet and the five beeps at the end of cooking are not blaring like my last microwave. The only thing I don't like is that every little fingerprint shows up on the stainless steel finish. I still gave it 5 stars though. I haven't used it that long so I hope I don't have any problems down the line.

Ordered one of these a month ago and have been very impressed with the features.Heating and re-heating is very precise and lots of options. After a month, noticed that the unit would stay "buzzing" after re-heating cycle when you remove food from the microwave. This would last for about 30 seconds and then stop.Returned to Amazon and received another unit.Called Panasonic this time and they indicated that this is normal operation as fan is cooling off microwave.Must be related to the "inverter" technology. This is not mentioned anywhere in manual or on Panasonic website.Hope to save others the hassle of returning a fully functional unit.Just need to determine now if we can live with this minor annoyance as it is a nice microwave.

Whynter IC-2L SNO 2-Quart Ice Cream Maker

Whynter IC-2L SNO 2-Quart Ice Cream MakerThe Whynter Sno is a fully contained 2 liter ice cream machine. It will both churn and freeze a mix to create:

Frozen Custard

Ice Cream

Ice Milk

Gelato

Sorbets

and even icy beverages (think Margaritas and the like.)

========

The Pros

========

It Works!

^^^^^^^^^

(Yes, this is a big deal. How would you like it if you plunked down $200 only to find your ice cream mix comes out soup or filled with chunky ice cubes?) This machine definitely gets the job done; It makes ice cream.

It is surprisingly quiet.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

While you wouldn't want to use it in a library, this machine is actually pretty quiet. Most of us who don't have any experience with an Ice Cream Machine can only relate to the beasts they have at the local Ice-Creameries (You know the ones: Buy One, Get One Free on certain days...) These industrial behemoths are LOUD. This machine (not being an industrial behemoth) is not loud. It **IS** louder than my refrigerator (barely,) but not quite as loud as my washing machine. It's NO WHERE NEAR AS LOUD as a Blender, Food Processor, or Stick Blender (if those are your only gauges of relevance.)

You can make your own concoctions.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Some local ice-creameries will make you a custom blend of ice cream. For example, if you want chocolate chips in some strawberry ice cream, they'll do that. (Probably not nationwide chains, but the local shop might.) But ask them to make anything crazier than that, and you're probably out of luck. Rosewater ice cream? Sorry. Green Tea ice cream? You're probably out of luck.

With this machine, you can make whatever flavors your heart desires, and that's pretty cool. (Just don't save me any Alligator Sherbet, ok?)

Ease of Use / Capacity.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This thing is EASY to use. For example, to make a simple vanilla ice cream, take 2 cups of half-and-half and POUR IT DIRECTLY INTO THE MACHINE'S MIXING BUCKET. DO LIKEWISE WITH 1/2 CUP OF SUGAR. Add a tablespoon of vanilla, and run the machine. About 45 minutes later, you'll have medium soft serve ice cream. NOTE that I do not say "Bring this mixture to a boil," nor do I say "Mix it," nor anything like that. In fact, when I tried this mix, I could even hear the churn running over the grains of sugar in the churning bowl. But, 45 minutes later, nothing but super-fine ice cream.

The other plus side is this machine's capacity. It's nice to be able to make a larger quantity of a mix if the mix is a bit more complicated (ie: a custard, which may require the incorporation of eggs, and possible cooking of the eggs.) This way, you can make a larger batch of mix, followed by a larger batch of ice cream.

========

The Cons

========

It's NOT dishwasher safe!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

While I won't say "Cleanup is hard," (there are really only 2 things to clean: the bowl and the beater,) you still can't just toss them into the top rack of your dishwasher to get the job done. You'll also need to wipe off the top plastic cover with a sponge, dishrag, etc... because it's permanently attached to the motor (which doesn't lend itself to easy cleaning.) The same thing holds true if your mix overflows the bowl and gets into the machine itself. (Don't worry, it's easy to clean, but again, you can't put the whole machine into your dishwasher [it's electrical, y'know,] so you'll have to clean it with a sponge or dishrag...) In other words, it would have been nicer if the freezing bowl (into which the mixing bowl sits,) the mixing bowl, the churn, and the plastic cover all been removable and dishwasher safe. They're not, but, to Whynter's credit, they are pretty easy to clean.

The label came off

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Petty? Yes. But it's an indicator as to the design of the machine. The label is a stiff label affixed to the rounded "tub" area of the machine. Had the machine been designed with a flat areat onto which the logo could be affixed, the label would still be there. (Mind you, this is "straight out of the box."

Little or No Documentation

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The documentation isn't bad (for what there is of it, but there aren't any recipes that come along with it. Also, there's no indicator as to the Maximum Fill Level of the Churn bucket. Overfill it, and you've got an ice cream that won't set properly, or have enough air mixed into it; or worse: ice cream base spilling into the freezing chamber. NOTE: You **CAN** go onto the website and download some recipes, but it would have been GREAT if they would have spent the extra $.38 and printed out some copies of at least a simple vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry mix recipe and thrown it into the box.

"Add-Ins" chute too small

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Do you like "Add-Ins" (ie: gelatin-based fruit-flavored candy animals and the like) in your ice cream? Well, you'll need to stop the machine, open the top, add the Add-Ins, then restart the churn (which, ideally, you'd wait 6 minutes for, since the compressor doesn't like to start and stop without a 6 minute breather.) The current model has a chute large enough for sprinkles and MAYBE very small cookie crumbs, but not chocolate chips. Again, not the worst thing in the world, but... hey! You know.

It can be slow

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This machine COULD conceivably turn out a batch of ice cream in 30 minutes, but that's only if the mix is nearly frozen to begin with (

NEW Replacement Part - FRIGIDAIRE ICE MAKER ASSEMBLY Part# AP4299334
  • Meets OEM form, fit and function standards
  • Original Manufacturer Part# AP4299334
  • ALSO COMPATIBLE WITH ELECTROLUX, KENMORE AND MORE

This unit is a more of a universal replacement for Frigidaire ice makers. It had a couple of differences from my original icemaker such as the switch was side ways, while mine was vertical. but generally over all it was close. It bolted up just fine and the electrical connections were identical. My only complaint is that the wire bail that is supposed to shut off the icemaker when the ice bucket is full does not work properly.I have physically lifted the wire bail and blocked it up and the icemaker does stop, but it will not stop if the ice builds up on its own.I have to wait until the ice bucket is full to overflowing and turn the switch off for a couple of days till the ice level gets down and then turn it on again. As I said, the unit works properly but the wire bail is not identical to the old one and won't shut off the ice maker like the old one did.A small inconvenience, but note worthy. And that is why I only rated it 4 stars.

This filer for some unknown reason is expensive and the taste of water is so bad my family totally quit drinking from it and using the ice it makes. It removes the taste of clorine but no matter how much you drain after fresh replacement, it still has a bad taste/odor to it. As it the water has passed through a tunnel of mould. I bought exact same one from Lowe's for $29.00 and it had the same ugly taste. I figured that was bad and wanted to try this one which was more expensive. I am going to contact Samsung and find out what the deal is. This item is on my repeat order list for Amazon, and I'm on my fourth filter. The price is right, and Amazon always ships on time. I replace my filter every 6-9 months, and they do a great job of removing the excessive chlorine that our water district pumps into our water. Easy to install, I have no idea why people are complaining; thankfully I have been saving money buying this on Amazon.

Aqua Fresh WF287 Refrigerator Replacement Filter

Aqua Fresh WF287 Refrigerator Replacement FilterI purchased a 3 pack (not from Amazon) for use in my GE Profile refrigerator. The first one worked fine, but when it came time to replace it, the second one would not work. After installing the second filter I received no water through the dispenser.

First I thought something was wrong with the water line.I pulled out the fridge and checked water flow into the dispenser.Water flow was good.I then started thinking the water valve was broken, but it seemed curious to me that it failed exactly when I replaced the filter....so I tried putting the first Aqua Fresh filter back on.But again, no water.

Before I started replacing valves, I wanted to completely rule out the filter as potential cause so I put the bypass plug into the filter holder and water began to flow again.

At this point I'm thinking it must be the filter.I go to the local store plop down the the ridiculous sum of $43 for the GE brand filter, plug it in, and it works!I then compared the Aqua Fresh filter side by side with the GE brand and found that the diameter and construction of the socket inside the Aqua Fresh filter is different than the GE.The socket needs to be able to depress and hold a spring loaded valve underneath the filter holder in order for water to flow into the filter. However, the Aqua Fresh filter sometimes will not completely depress and hold the valve open when mounted. Some of them work, some of them don't.

Anyway, as much as I hate to admit it, I'm going to stick with the overpriced GE brand, seeking out the best deal I can get on Amazon.

This is an "after-market" product that costs about 1/3 less than the original name-brand replacement. When I received it, it seemed as if it could possibly be used.I suspected this b/c the label affixed to the filter had sort of "stretch" tears on it (the kind of tear from a twisting motion that might occur from torquing the product in or out).Besides that, there is a seal that goes on the very top which was present but not affixed, and the box seemed a bit dirty/smudged.I put the filter in after following the directions of filling it with water, etc., and I immediately noticed a strange taste in the water.I thought maybe I just needed to run it for a while, but the taste never went away.I kept it in for several weeks but both the water and the ice tasted weird.I contacted the company & they assured me it was brand new and offered to refund my money.I returned it to them & got a prompt refund, which was great (they were very responsive & pleasant to deal with). Then I purchased the name-brand part & the water tasted normal again (after running about a gallon through).I'm going to stick to the name-brand original part from now on.

Sanyo BC1206 Kegerator Beer Cooler

Sanyo BC1206 Kegerator Beer Cooler

  • Black exterior with 4 casters for portability
  • Includes cleaning kit and beer FAQ guide
  • Measures 23-5/8 by 37 by 25 inches

I chose the Sanyo because I heard the Haier model has problems getting down below 40 degrees. This one has no problems keeping a half barrel ice cold. This is a great looking keg cooler that comes with pretty much eveything you need. The only cons are the vinyl tube clips are cheap plastic that don't get tight enough, and the drip tray is also a cheap plastic tray. I immediately replaced these with metal and just bought a double regulator (it comes with a good Taprite single regulator) so I can gauge the remaining CO2 in the tank.

The Sanyo Beer Cooler really has no competition in it's price range, so they were apparently able to cut corners during manufacturing.First let me say that it dispenses draft beer, so it'll pay for itself in about 6 kegs.

But here are my complaints with it:1.The door doesn't close perfectly, there's never a tight seal even after trying to clean the gaskets.Which may lead to 2. It doesn't get cold enough.I like my beer somewhat warm, so i't not a huge deal for me, but not everyone does and this can't get cold without leading to problem 3.The inside-back of the fridge FREEZES up.Without a keg in it (or I use soda kegs sometimes) the ice block gets so big there's no way to get a full-size keg in.If you leave a keg in there long enough, the ice will actually form over the keg so you need to break it off to remove keg. It's a pain.

So why did I give it 4 stars?Because there's nothing else I can recommend for the same price. And you get fresh DRAFT beer at 1/2 the price of canned or bottled and don't have to worry about recycling or going to the liquor store every weekend.

This Sanyo kegerator is a great little fridge. It has the capacity for a 1/2 barrel keg with the include 5# CO2 cylinder inside if you want to get a keg from your local liquor store, or you can use it for 5 gal corny kegs filled with homebrew. You can fit two standard corny kegs side by side in the fridge with the CO2 bottle. There is floorspace for 4 corny kegs or 3 & the CO2 bottle, but the top of the fridge in the back dips down about an inch too low to fit a corny keg under it.Easiest solution is to chop off half of the rubber handle on the corny keg and you can fit in two front to back with a full 6 gal carboy & airlock next to them or another corny keg.It works great for lagering and is a pretty good unit overall. The CO2 regulator that is included is single gauge (dispense pressure) but a second gauge for CO2 bottle pressure can easily be attached.

it is a good beer dispenser, very cold beer, nice looking unit.most of the parts are good quality. had the haier(spelling issue) unit before, always had problems.thissanyo, so far, has exceeded the expectations.the larger cooling panel is very helpful and needed.the only complaint I have is the shipping.unit arrived very beat up and battered.not sanyo nor amazon's fault, just a common problem with anything shipped UPS. will attempt to get a resolution to that in the comming days. I will keep you posted. other very minor complaints, screw holes are not lined up well at all.you will be best advised to tap your own holes before screwing anything down.instructions are rather poor. if you don't already know about kegorators you will not know how to run this, research co2 adjustments and pressures first.the castors on the bottom should be locking.easy enough replacement if you have any handyman ability.but manufacturer should have thought about that first.and as you've read in other reviews, the drip pan is extremely half arsed and cheap.

amazon continues to be the best place on line to buy at the best price. i looked for this product at the best price for a while. when amazon finally put it online i jumped on it. as compaired to other purchases and the speed of delivery this is last. it took three business days for it to be shipped and i ended up driving 50 miles to the shipper to pick it up. all in all it was worth the kegerator.

amazon don't use eagle USA, they smear your reputation!

  • The Select Replacement Filter fits all refrigerators that use Whirlpool / KitchenAid 8171413 & 8171414 water filters, or Kenmore 46-9002 water filters.
  • Retains the flouride in drinking water. Filters out chlorine, turbidity, sediment, dirt, and rust

This happens to be the model that my refrigerator uses, so it was a no-brainer that I have to buy this filter... the good news is that my refrigerator has been completely reliable and trouble-free, as has been the filter in terms of taking the old one out, putting the new one in, and tasting the goodness of the water coming out.

Frigidaire FFU12F2HW 12.1 Cu. Ft. Upright Freezer - White

Frigidaire FFU12F2HW 12.1 Cu. Ft. Upright Freezer - White
  • 12.1 cu. ft. upright freezer
  • Adjustable temperature control
  • 3 fixed wire freezer shelves
  • Frost-Free operation removes the need for defrosting
  • Bright interior lighting makes it easy to find stored items

I was actually looking for a smaller freezer to take the overload from my fridge freezer, but for the price difference, this somewhat larger freezer (12.1 Cubic Feet), which is frost-free and has an interior light was a much better deal.I remember my mother defrosting her freezer years ago and really didn't want to have to do that. It's a huge hassle. But neither did I need a big fancy freezer and my space is limited. This freezer really fits my needs. It is not too big (outside measurements: 5' H, 28" W, 26" deep)and not too heavy so it can sit on the little platform in the garage outside my mudroom door. We got it up the stairs on a hand truck with no problem. It's handy for me there and doesn't seem to mind the heat in the garage. It's well insulated.

I am using an appliance quality extension cord to the nearest outlet, which is working fine.We adjusted the front leveler legs up slightly per directions so the door swings shut by itself, which is nice if my hands are full. The door provides a secure seal.It has a pocket grasp handhold for opening rather than a latch. The door can not be reversed to open on the other side.

There are no baskets supplied with the freezer and I wanted those so have ordered some small freezer baskets Chrome Basket (Chrome) (8"H x 11.75"W x 12.75"D) for the shelves to contain my produce sealed in plastic using my FoodSaver. These baskets are a shade too wide to fit two abreast on the shelves, but I got one for each shelf and am using the other half of the shelf for things I can stack and larger items. The shelves, by the way, are non-adjustable, but well spaced.

I knew I wanted an upright freezer, but the extra space offers the unexpected bonus of allowing me to freeze homemade juice pops for the grandchildren (which need to be upright and level until frozen) and gives me room for a cookie sheet holding strawberries to be frozen separately before bagging and other unusual options my fridge freezer never really did (it is always too full).

I haven't seen an electric bill yet to assess the impact and I know it will be more than a manual defrost freezer, but I'm so delighted with this unit, I'm willing to pay a little extra. The energy guide that came with the freezer estimates $62/yr.That seems low, but we'll see.All in all this was a great purchase and highly recommended.

Update 12/14/09

I've now received three electric bills and am even further pleased that there is very little impact from running this freezer.I'd now guess I'll being paying about $50/yr to run the freezer. Another neat thing is that when a bad storm tripped the reset outlet where the freezer is plugged in and I didn't know it for two days, the temp never rose above 21 degrees in the freezer and everything remained well preserved even with no power. When I went to put something in the freezer and saw the light was off, I knew right away what had happened.Another reason to have the interior light, because when the freezer is between cooling cycles, it's completely silent so the light is what tells you it's 'on'.I have a gauge clipped to the outside of the freezer with a probe that attaches inside and lets me see what the temperature is. It maintains a much more consistent temperature than my fridge freezer does.

This freezer does the trick; it freezes.I had to set it almost to the highest setting in order to get the temperature slightly below zero. The factory setting wasn't cold enough.Of course, I had to buy a thermometer in order to find out how cold it was getting inside. It's a little loud, so I am glad it's in our garage.I love the size though. We have a regular size two car garage, and there is plenty of room for it and both our cars.Realize when you order online, you will have to remove the freezer from the wood bolted on the bottom, and lift it off the pallet. You won't get the service you would from buying it from an appliance store.

We bought this based on good reviews. It was fine for 1 1/2 years when it stopped freezing. Not worth fixing for the price paid. We plan to avoid the Frigidaire brand completely now since a new refrigerator we bought recently for over $800 is having issues after only one month! Guess their products have really gone downhill.

I needed a moderate sized freezer with shelves so things didn't get burried in the bottom of the freezer well. This freezer has done a great job after three months and keeps everything rock hard. The shelving works great too and everything is easy to find. Why only four stars??Although I highly recommend it, you can hear it when the compressor kicks on (which is rare)but it is quiet enough that you can't hear it from the next room.I'm just nit picking, it is a great freezer.

By the way, be st buy dot com

I have it in my garage, it's frost free and works great and was delivered to our door. It's a good family size freezer. I am glad we got it.

33 Bottle Compressor Wine Cooler

33 Bottle Compressor Wine Cooler
  • Temperatures reach as low as 39 degrees F
  • Holds 33 bottles of wine
  • Insulated glass door
  • Digital temperature display
  • Slide out chrome shelves

The good

Not cellar grade cooler for long term storage. Instead it great cooler for keeping your reds at the right temperature for several months instead of keeping them warm, and then trying to chill them to serving temperature in the fridge before serving.

Shelves are removable, so I took out three shelves. This left room for 10 horizontal standard bottles of wine, 4 horizontal large bottles of wine, and 4-6 vertical (open) bottles of wine and/or liquor.

No fans to circulate and make noise.

The not so good

rear "feet" are just stamped metal protrusions from the base, so you may want to get carpet/floor protectors.

The condenser coils are on the sidewalls and get slightly warm to the touch, so it appears that space needs to be left on each side for ventilation.

Power cord is too short.Compressor pitch is a strange pitch compared to the normal fridge, but is fairly unobtrusive.

Summary

Great value, good starter cooler for the money, especially considering it includes shipping.I would buy another for whites if I drank white wine.

I purchased the unit 10 months ago. Last week the compressor stop working. I contacted the NewAir customer support and they explained that I have to ship the product back. Really !!! Where I am going to find box suitable to ship the unit? I proposed to have a new unit shipped and I will return the old one in the packaging, but they explained that this can't be done. It is too much hassle. I will throw it away and will never buy anything from NewAir again.

I should listen to the negative reviews in the first place.

Don't take a chance with this company.I ordered this product based on the positive reviews on Air & Water's website. The unit arrived quickly but upon opening it I found that the gasket on the door did not create a tight seal around the frame there was a huge gap at the top outer corner that would allow warm outside air enter the unit, resulting in more costly, inefficient cooling.I tried stretching it and playing around with it but no luck.

While not ideal, these things happen no biggie. So I called A&W to send a replacement, and they were actually very accommodating and sent a new unit right away. They instructed me to use the box from the replacement to send back the defective unit (they provided a prepaid shipping label for the return).I therefore tossed the packaging supplies from the first unit (the box had been cut open anyway to take it out).

The second unit arrived a week later, and I was excited I finally had somewhere to store my wine.No dice! There was a huge dent on the door. There is no way that this damage occurred during the shipping process as all of the packaging (foam, box, etc.) was completely intact with no bends or holes.I can only assume that this defect existed at the time it was shipped.

I read a lot of reviews for a lot of products, and I'm not sure I've ever seen a company fail to send a good condition product when given not one but two chances. Air & Water/NewAir clearly does not have a proper quality assurance process in place. Both of these units had blatant defects that should have been detected prior to distribution. With the first unit, I thought it was a fluke.Upon receipt of the second, it's no coincidence this company simply lacks basic controls.

To add insult to injury, in order to receive a refund I was told that I am on the hook for purchasing a box and packaging supplies to send back the second defective unit. A&W would not reimburse me for the cost nor send supplies to me.Between emails, phone calls, taking pictures of defects, arranging fedex return pickups, and now the cost of packaging supplies, this has been a major hassle.Don't waste your time.

Incidentally, after doing some digging I found that Air & Water owns NewAir no wonder NewAir's product reviews are so positive on the A&W site but just mediocre everywhere else.

The pros; it's a compresser type fridge. It keeps wine much colder than then electro type. Nice fit and finish.

The cons; it's not "Energy Star" rated and it shows once a month! my electric bill went up 20.00 a month That with keeping the themostat at 58. Another problm is noise. When the compressor is on... not good.

Is it worth it? Well if one entertains alot. It adds a touch of elegance.

After reading lots of reviews on the passive chillers, I decided on this model with a compressor. It requires very little air space around the unit to maintain cooling capability which was very important for it's final placement. The compressor does make enough noise to be heard. It is quieter than our full size fridge.Temperature seems to hold very consistent and it recovers quickly after the door is opened. The only negative is that the blue interior LED light turns off automatically after a few minutes. My we liked the way it looked with the blue light on.

Our first d/w was a Maytag that cleaned very well.Unfortunately, in 2 years time we had to replace the latch handle twice, it was recalled because of a potential fire, and ultimately, the tub warped and we replaced it with this Kitchenaid.

Having done extensive research, there is no one d/w that everyone loves. That being said, Kitchenaid comes up as one of the brands that most people prefer. Why not go with a middle level Kitchenaid?Again, all the research I turned up said that it was necessary to go with the higher end in order to get better quality. The higher end uses a different drying and washing process than the mid-range.

Another consideration was that only the top two models have the third tray for utensils. Both my husband and the appliance salesmen minimized the importance of this feature.Having now had the d/w for a month, it's one of my favorite features.Because of food allergies and because we homeschool, we run our d/w four times a day.I need every bit of space available for larger items.By using the upper utensil draw, I can place more items in the bottom drawer.

As I mentioned, I cook a great deal and use a 12 quart stock pot about once a week.I was concerned about being able to fit it in this d/w.Our previous Maytag was a tall tub and had a very large clearance from the bottom rack to the sprayer. No problem with the Kitchenaid.

There are several different options of cleaning cycles, and I do find myself using them. There's even an option for a shorter wash cycle. It's just as efficient, just not as energy-conscious.I haven't used it yet, but am thrilled to know it's available.

As everyone mentions, it's quiet as a whisper.I can talk on the phone right next to it with no problem.

When researching, I did turn up some concern over the side venting of the door.Have to say that our install left the vent just outside the cabinetry. No problems whatsoever.

If you do a great deal of cooking, this is the dishwasher for you!

Update: I wanted to post an update that as time has gone by my love for this dishwasher only continues.I run it roughly four times a day and have now used the 1 hour wash cycle. It's been an invaluable time saver.I've even washed our super large stock pot on the 1 hour cycle and it comes out clean.

My husband had expressed concern over the lack of a food grinder and my habit of not scraping the dishes immaculately before loading them. However, we've had no problems.I rarely remove the filter to clean it, and when I do I'm just rinsing it.It really isn't even necesssary.Almost a year later, and I still couldn't recommend it more.

This is the quietest dishwasher I have ever owned. We can run it while watching TV without any disturbance (our kitchen is open to the living room). It also gets dishes very clean. However, the drain pump went out after only 7 months of daily use.The warranty covered it but I was without a dishwasher for 2 weeks (by the time a service call was set up, then the part had to be ordered & took another week to come it).I am concerned that pump will go out again & the warranty will be expired.

I am not a fan of the 3rd shelf for small items.Tall glasses do not fit in the 2nd shelf because of that extra shelf & we rarely use that 3rd shelf.I finally pulled it out & keep it out.No need to pay extra for this feature.

This washer cleans amazingly well and is super quiet.I love the upper tray, but do wish you could put smaller bowls in the top rack.Still, the fold down shelves on the top tray are handy to keep light/short items from flying about (because the jets are strong!).My only real complaint is that the door sometimes won't close and you have to notice this and it usually seems to be because the top tray isn't pushed in all the way. It's not obvious, so it's annoying.Otherwise this washer runs and performs like a dream. The only time it leaves food on the plates is if they've been sitting in the washer for days with food on them before we run it.I'm confident I can put dirty (food covered) dishes in it and run it immediately and they'll be sparkling clean.

I had done a lot of reading about dishwashers when I decided to replace my Frigidaire Professional that came with my house. The Frigidaire never seemed to clean as we thought it should.

Long story short this is an amazing dishwasher.my mom cooked some lasagna we left the dish and merely put it into the dishwasher in front of the pot scrubbers.from caked and baked on sauce to perfectly clean.Trust me this is an amazing dishwasher and to top it off it is quiet. It also has a ton of room and a 3rd rack for small utensils.

you get what you pay for, buy it if it is in your budget.

Love the dishwasher. Quiet, quiet, quiet. And super clean results. Recommend it highly. However, the vendor had to send three units before we got one that was undamaged. I'm not sure it was their shipper's (Manna Distributing) fault. The boxes were undamaged but the dishwashers were dented and severly damaged.Might have been damaged at the factory and boxed that way.Who knows. But at least the vendor kept trying and never questioned that the damage was there.

Kenmore Sears Washer Door Boot Seal Gasket 8181662-KE

Kenmore Sears Washer Door Boot Seal Gasket 8181662-KE
  • Kenmore Sears Washer Door Boot Seal Gasket 8181662-KE

Timeline... found the laundry room flooded on Saturday. Figured out the cause and ordered the part Monday night. Completely fixed by Thursday.

Appliance Parts US shipped the part quickly and the installation was fairly easy (and might be fun if you enjoy logic puzzles).

Tips:

-This part was a perfect fit for my Kenmore HEt3 washer (mfg. circa 2001, model 110 42922 200).There seem to be several part numbers for the same gasket. I found a couple aliases on the sears website, where they say that part #x is the same as part #y.

-Don't try to guess the order you need to remove parts. Watch this video (or one like it) before --and during-the repair: [search youtube for "Door Boot Seal Replacement" amazon blocked my link]

-Kenmore/Sears makes the process more difficult that it probably needs by using odd screws and connectors. You'll need a Torx screwdriver (for the star-headed screws) and a 9/32" socket driver for the internal boot clamp (the video shows it with a screw-type clamp).

-Finding that you have hole in the door seal is the first challenge. I found mine by taking off the bottom panel and then running the washer and looking for dripping water...SPLASH was more like what I found.

-Putting the spring loaded clamp back on is tricky and pulls the boot off if you're not doing it right. I finally figured out that you can easily spread it out using two small screwdrivers (the video mentioned something about it but I didn't listen).

-On my washer, the door wiring was connected to the door with an extra plastic harness not shown in the video.I found that it was easier to unscrew the latch assembly from the door frame rather than disconnect the wires. There are 3 or 4 star-screws on the door front holding it on and it went back on easily.Don't mix these screws with the others you've removed...they have washers and may be a little shorter (forgot to look).

-Chances are you will be showing a lot of plumber's crack during the replacement process. Dress appropriately.
