I've had this unit for a couple of months now and I am happy to report that it has functioned without a problem.I initially purchased an Edgestar unit which is supposed to be one of the better units.It only lasted five (5) days before it failed and I returned it.If you're debating between an Edgestar and this unit, buy the Great Northern unit.

After sitting in the box for the required hour to let the coolant drain back into the unit, we plugged it in added water and it made ice.Filled the tray and stopped, we emptied the tray and off it went making more ice.

Very quiet, none of the plastic tasting ice people are talking about with some models.The unit is not very large or very heavy.Should work great in our boat.

The machine is way smaller than I imagined and the ice is tiny.It melts as soon as alcohol hits it!
