i bought this product assuming it was a ge original part as described and as mentioned in other comments. what arrived was name branded " exact replacement" parts. it does work and looks identical but i feel i was mislead and over paid for an aftermarket part. i already installed the part since i needed it badly. i could have gotten a genuine ge part for cheaper but i thought it was to good to be true so spent the extra money thinking i was getting the original ge part, but i didnt. other people say they got the original heater , but i did not.

Very happy! Saved a lot of $ Ordered this part, installed it last evening; the hardest part of the job was defrosting the ice block in the back of my freezer! Everything is working great. Be careful, it's a little bit sharp!

Heater worked as expected and fixed the refridgerator that was not freezing in the freezer section or cooling in the fridge section. I talked to a tech who told me that the fridge section worked off the freezer section. That is why neither was working. When the defrost heater went bad (burned out/open circuit) and frost was all in the back of the freezer, this was the culprit. And while I was in there I replaced the Thermostat that turns it on and off, because it did not check as expected. I am thinking that if the thermostat did not turn the heater off it could have caused it to burn out and since it didn't cost that much, I just replaced them both! Now every is cool or frozen.
