Our fridge has an ice maker, but we didn't like the chlorine taste (the fridge doesn't have a built-in filter) and so we got an external inline water filter. This hose runs from the water hookup to the filter, which then connects to the water input on the fridge through the hose that came with the fridge.

After trying two different Watts' water lines, one with stainless steel braiding and the other a reinforced polyethylene line) that both left a terrible plastic taste in my ice I installed this pex line. End of bad taste and easy to install. Probably not as durable (I think pex weakens with UV but it's behind the frig so that shouldn't be an issue). These new filters cleared that up since new charcoal is always a lot better than old charcoal.
One thing to note is that these filters are not built by LG itself, by by a company authorized/contracted by LG to make these filters, if that matters to you.
While these filters aren't cheap (around $30 a piece), I ultimately decided to go this route rather than have to deal with some other shady vendors on Amazon, specifically a company that sold Swift Green filters for a low price that absolutely did not match the product description that they had on their Amazon webpage (they stated 900 gallons per filter, but it was only 300 gallons per filter).I returned those filters and went with these.
So be aware of the other products out there the marketing for these filters state 6-months or 500 gallons, and that's exactly what's on the box you receive.

These are the genuine LG water filters that you'd buy at the local retail stores but much cheaper.I picked up one of these 6 months ago for $50+tax so buying this 3-pack was basically half-price.The genuine LG water filter does a great job water tastes great, no funky tastes.To me, the water even tastes better than the water I used to buy at the local water mart.

I've been using these filters now for over a year, and they are an excellent low cost replacement filter. The filter was easy to install and works with my refrigerator's change filter indicator light. The outer shell is thinner than higher cost filters, as a cost-savings measure. So you have to be a little careful not to force the filter when you replace it or you might damage it. But you shouldn't force the filter, period, no matter what you buy. I'm very pleased with this purchase and when it comes time to buy more, I will buy more of these.

Having read a few comments on seller who ship Kenmore filter instead, I was quite concern.Although it may work the same, to me WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) is important when I buy stuff on-line.Well, I can tell you that I get what I was looking for.The shipment arrive on the second day.I did compare it side by side to the one that came with my LG fridge, exactly matched.I replace it and run water though as suggested. The water come out clear, clean, odorless and taste good.I have two units to spare, hence I will be a happy customer for at least a good 18 months (this is my first replacement after I get my fridge for almost 2 yrs).

I have been singing the praises of this little device since I first plugged it in. I bought it for the kitchen but, found that the outlet space was a little to small.So, I made room for it in the bathroom.Am I ever glad I did.That thing will NEVER leave the bathroom again!When you're finished in the bathroom, there is NO odor.Great for having guests over during the holidays.You know how there is always ONE who really lights up the bathroom?If you don't know, then you're probably the one I'm talking about.Anyway, the odor removal appliance works great for those special events.It's a great investment.It doesn't cover odors, it ELIMINATES them!Even when we spray our fragrance in the bathroom, the smell never leaves the room.I can't say enough about it.Okay, I can.And, I'll wrap it up here.Buy it, you won't be sorry.I'm getting more for other parts of the house.
I don't know how this item works, it just does.We have a three senior citizen cats who are attached to clay cat litter and all it entails, including not the best odor control.We've been using this odor remover for about a month and it's amazingly effective.It's fairly quiet, just sounds like a small fan, and hasn't kept the skittish cats away from the cat box at all.The only con might be that it needs to be plugged in to work and for maximum effectiveness it needs to be within six feet of the odor source, so if you don't have an outlet handy, you may have to rig an extension cord like we did.

I purchased this item after reading about a million reviews about all different types of odor eliminators and I have to say it works amazingly!!I purchased this particular one because it didn't have a night light. It was shipped from Target.com and it arrived pretty quickly at my door!
I do use it in a very small area, but it still totally eliminates the litter box smell. I also purchased the Febreze Pet Odor Filters. I did find it confusing which Item Number for the filters to buy. I got 04284F and they fit perfectly.
The unit came with a filter already in it, but I used the Febreze one. I don't know if the original filter would work as well for the litter box, but I plan on using it once I've used the Febreze filters.
Some reviewers complained about the noise of the fan, but I do not find it too loud and the unit is right outside my bedroom door. Other reviewers complained about the size of the unit as well, but I don't find it hideous or too large either.
Also, if you plug the unit into the bottom of your outlet, you can still use the one on the top, which is a plus!
I will be telling everyone I know about this magic Odor Eliminator! I would highly recommend it for anyone with a litter box in a small area!!

I bought this for my bathroom, where my cats' litterbox also lives.I was shocked when I plugged it in.For the first 48 hours, it was amazing how much of a difference it made in the smell.However, after about that long, it seems to have stopped working almost completely.This was disappointing, after such a promising start.I'm hoping a new filter may do a better job, but so far I'm not terribly impressed.

1/2" Compression Hose End Plug Raindrip Replacement .620 OD with 3/4" Cap - Green Ring
I have complained about the Rain Bird 1/2'" hose & fittings because they differ in size from the ones I use from Orbit & DIG. These are .620" OD (outside diameter) and are noted by the green ring and are the about the only ones I have found that fit the Rain Bird hose. There are other fittings that look exactly like these but are .710" OD, marked with a blue ring, and though both are noted as 1/2-inch systems the parts are not interchangeable. Most of these fittings are pretty pricey but if you look at the other sellers you can easily find them for around a buck and buying in quantity does pay off in combined shipping with places like Grady's Online & Irrigation Direct. I purchased a total of 18 pieces (6 couplings, 4 tee's & 8 hose ends) and the total, with shipping, was about 13 bucks. Amazon sells the hose end at about 4 bucks each so you do the math.These are great fittings and I use them on systems that operate with a pressure reducer at 25PSI so I can't say how effective they would be at higher pressures. The downside is that once on they do not come off and that's why they get 4 stars. I much prefer the Orbit & DIG systems because parts are interchangeable (these will not work on them because they are yet another variation in the 1/2 -inch measurement) and they can easily be removed if you want to add more hose or change an end cap to a tee. I purchased 500' of Rain Bird hose not knowing that I would end up with a 1/2-inch drip line that required special fittings so I have had to buy even more fittings to get the line useable. It's your choice which way you go but don't pay more than a buck for these fittings and since I can't buy them locally I'm glad there's some choice on Amazon. I still prefer the Orbit & Dig because home centers carry parts and they're pretty cheap also. If you remove one of these fittings you will need to use another fitting to use it again... if you want to remove and end cap to extend a line you will need to add a coupling ahead of the end cap to use it again so don't cut them off too close... or you can use a female hose end, remove the cap and screw them together. I have several pretty extensive drip line systems that cover several large gardens, trees, shrubs and flowers so the cost of parts adds up quickly. Bottom line... nice fittings, can't be removed and I think they're somewhat inferior to the Orbit & DIG line of fittings.

We like our GE "French Door" fridge. It looks good and works fine. But don't think of getting it without the insurance plan. We've had to replace the central "brain". We've had to replace a door latch. We are getting ready now to call for a new shelf and crisper track because both have broken.I would guess that without the insurance we would soon have put as much in repairs as we paid for the fridge. However, ours was a brand new model, and perhaps they have worked some of the bugs out. We love it. We really have no complaints. Just be sure you take the insurance when it's offered. And you can be sure we'll be renewing our policy when it expires. The service has been excellent.

We have had this fridge for less than 1 year and so far we have had the repairman out 3 times.This is the most tempermental fridge I have ever owned.The previous review is right do not even THINK about buying this without a service plan.So far it has frozen (and ruined) lots of produce.Once that got fixed the icemaker overflowed water into the bottom of the freezer (until I shut off the water).The spicket freezes where you cannot get water out of it (in the fridge) and you have to jack up the temperature just to get it to thaw so that you can get water from it again.When the guy was out last week he replaced the whole ice maker.Once he left it started making this horrible sound like it is trying to make ice or dump ice but cannot.So I'm waiting on them to come out AGAIN to fix that.HORRIBLE do NOT buy it.Ridiculous! We've had one of thse for about 6 months. Over this period the doors haven't been fully closed four times, and no-one heard the "door alarm" (in at least two cases it had mysteriously turned itself "off"). And guess what: the intense tungsten bright interior lights (indeed Edison's 125 y/o old discovery) remain on. These 2 high intensity bulbs dump at least 50 watts of heat into the interior for as long as the doors remain even slightly open. When discovered, the temperature indicator has shown the interior temp to be in the high 60 to 70degrees F,, 30 degrees below the "norm",40 degrees F.
First: in this day and age of cool lighting sources, in this high-priced box, what kind of idiot would specify such ancient lighting in a refrigerator -(quoting the owner's manual, "caution the light bulbs may be hot" hot enough to burn you within a few minute, I discovered). Ridiculous!!
As well, why is it even possible to turn off the so-called door alarm? it's barely audibleanyway, and delays three minutes (un-adjustable, of course!) before it begins to emit it's pathetic peep.Thus whoever left it open is long gone by then.
Where's the wisdom here?? Earth to General Electric: you've been demoted... to Private Electric imho

This is for anyone considering purchasing the G.E. brand.I bought a new house 4 years ago and the builder included all G.E. appliance for free.Refrigerator, microwave, stove top, oven, diswasher, washer and dryer.Beautiful Stainless steel new appliances.The dryer broke on day one and the builder replaced it.The dishwasher was recalled for starting fires, but worst of all has been the refrigerator.I've had it for slightly less than 4 years.It's a side-by-side but, but other than that, same thing as what's shown here.The inside drawers have broken, the ice maker leaks down the refrigerator and onto the floor, the temperature control does not control the temperature on either side and the freezer thaws intermittently and the food thaws (all this began in the fist 6 months) and yesterday both the refrigerator and the freezer gave out and stopped cooling.It still makes an excellent nightlight but other than that, it's useless.Oh and the ice maker gets clogged and then won't make ice. (that is, while it was still making ice in year 1-3) A little research on the net and I have discovered the motherboard breaks on these puppies and they stop cooling.Figure a $700 bill for that, and figure the new mother board will last you about 2-4 years before it breaks too. This is a pervasive problem. If you figure one in every 10 people who have this same problem with their G.E. Profile's, write a complaint on line, then it's pretty much... yeah, everybody whose had one for 4 years.The brand is made in Mexico and no offense to Mexicans but it sucks! You'll be lucky to get 2 or 3 years from this machine.A word of caution: When looking on line for reviews, do not just count the # of stars people have given it and make your mind up based on that, you have to read the actual reviews because most of the people writing the reviews do so within a month or two of getting their appliance--sometimes the day it arrives. What the heck use is that, I ask you?(this is true of all appliances) Of course they're satisfied with their purchase in the first month.Read reviews from people who have had the machine for YEARS and that will tell you something. Now I have to figure out what to buy next because I'm not even going to bother fixing this junk.UPDATE:I went searching for a new counter-depth, built-in fridg in stainless steel that would go with my gorgeous new kitchen and discovered anything counter depth (meaning it doesn't stick out in the room 6 inches beyond the counter like a giant cube) costs about twice as much as a regular depth fridge, and since there are no good brands made today left to buy--(they are all utter crap)I couldn't stomach paying a minimum of $2,000 for a unit that would last only a few years.Well, I decided to look on Craig's list for a used/older model counter depth, not sure if they even existed.I'm here to tell you, they do---I found 2 G.E. Profile counter depth refrigerators in my area on one night, which were at least 15 years old.They were in the price range of $75-150 and clean.I bought the one for $75 because it still looked new inside and was the right size, had well made drawers (heavy gage wire bins in the freezer), a lighted ice maker in the door that still worked, and NO COMPUTER running it.I took it home in December and I have had no problems with it, and if/when I do, if I repair it it will stay repaired because all the major problems with refrigerators today are associated with the computer brain.The same company makes mother boards for all the popular brands so they all have problems.The one I bought was almond in color, but I bought stainless steel contact paper at Loews (2 rolls, $14 dollars) and now you can't tell it's not stainless steel except for the ice maker on the front and the handles, but the overall impression is the same as the SS I had prior.It looks fine!The guy who sold it to me said he was the second owner and it has never given him a moment's trouble in 12 years.I think it must be about 17 years old.He just updated his kitchen and his wife wanted a new one---the same one I just got rid of!OMG, they are going to be soooo sorry in a couple of years.I hired a used refrigerator guy to move one out and the one from Craig's List in, and offered to pay him by giving him the 4 year old SS one I just got rid of, but he was very familiar with the new G.E. profiles and he only gave me $25 dollars for it.I had to pay $100 more for him to move them/ change them out.He says it's not really even worth $25!But so what, the whole thing out the door cost me $175, done and done.Anyone who doesn't want to spendthousands of dollars on a counter depth fridge (but still wants one) and is dead set against buying inferior products, and doesn't know what to do: Take my advice, either research/buy Fagor a european brand that you can get here at A.J. Madisons (it is the 5th largest selling appliance brand in europe and is getting rave reviews all over the world now. BTW they also make washer/dryers combos which you can buy on Amazon) also Summit is supposed to be a good brand.OR check out Craig's List and see if you can find a G.E Profile counter depth built in model that does not run on a computer brain.You may be in luck and trust me, once you get it home and it's running like a champ, you're going to be very proud of yourself.

Before continuing, let's not fail to note the advertised description for this product: "Just turn the thermostat to select the appropriate temperature for your application!"
Falling with equal snugness on the Things That Make You Go Duh list is the instruction manual telling us that "The knob has markings to indicate the relative temperature settings, but in general, turning the knob counter-clockwise corresponds to colder temperatures."
So if we turn the dial one way, it gets colder. Turn it the other way it gets warmer.We can handle that. The markings on the dial bear witness to and confirm this elegant conception of appliance design:
regrigeration------>MIN......OFF.....MAX
freezing----------->MIN......||......MAX
Interesting then, that in practice there is *no* temperature change in the freezer when dialed to "MIN", or dialed to "MAX". I measure both at a steady 20 degrees.
With some playing, one discoversthat colder temperatures are achieved, erratically, within the petite 1.5 millimeter space between the two vertical lines separating "Min" and "Max".
Moving counter clockwise per instructions along the dial after the arrow marked "Freezer", the temperatures I normally get are, in order:
20 (when dialed to "Min")
15 (when dialed to the left vertical line)
4 or 12 degrees (when between the two vertical lines)
10 (when dialed to the right vertical line)
20 (when dialed to "Max).
Perhaps the advertised 0 degree capability is buried someplace within the 1.5 mm space between the two vertical lines, but after several days of moving the dial minutely to the left or right, I'm unable to find it.
Additionally, after reaching the coldest discernable temperature of 4 degrees once, it took me 2 days to find it again while continuing my hunt for the elusive advertised0 degrees.
This is especially frustrating since it takes about half a day or more for a temperature change to be reached within the freezer after moving the thermostat dial -and when you move it, you don't know for certain if you're making it colder or warmer.
Which is to say, this isn't a particular fast appliance: The manual recommends not introducing frozen food to the freezer until it's been turned to the coldest setting (wherever that is) for at least 2 hours after turning it on. That seems wildly optimistic to me. In practice, it takes roughly 5 hours to freeze undersized 1" ice cubes from power-up using the tray bundled with this freezer.
To its credit, the EchoStar is fine as a refrigerator, and fine as a freezer as long as you aren't picky about hitting the the normally recommended 0 degrees for frozen foods.
But sorry, it should not require several days to find the coldest temperature on a device by nudging a dial back and forth within a space of a milimeter. And oddly enough, even without the instruction booklet telling me to do so, I fully expect "Max" to be colder than "Min", and not be actually located at some microscopicly ambiguous point between the two.

Just got this little beauty around 5:00pm today and plugged it in shortly after with freezer temp set to max and putting in a new Freezer thermometer. I read the post about defective temp control, but saw that others had 'no problem' so I played dumb and just cranked it up. Just as well, as it is now 7:30pm and I heard the freezer pump go off. I looked in the door and the thermometer was at rock bottom minus 20 degrees. Wow am I happy. My main refrigerator freezer is set well enough to keep frozen foods at 0 degrees and that's what I want this little model to do also. I turned the thermostatic control back a quarter turn to rest it between max and min on the freezer side. I'm thinking that it will now level out at zero.
How it works was my first concern, so now that that is settled I can only also add what others have said: It looks great!
It looks beautifully made and I won't be surprised to have this unit for many years to come. I got it to hold frozen foods I take out of my main refrigerator while I am thawing out my main refrigerator. I'll bet I start cheating now and start using this little gem to horde my favorite Ice Creams or stock up on meats or who knows what. A very good purchase at a very good price. I would highly recommend to a friend.

I've had this freezer for two weeks and am very happy with it.It got cold very quickly and reached a steady zero degrees with only two or three adjustments.(I've checked it repeatedly with a refrigerator/freezer thermometer to be sure it stayed there.)I long wished I had a very small freezer in my room to hold ice packs when ill or recovering from surgery, because a small refrigerator doesn't get cold enough.It seems extravagant, but is well worth the cost when your family fridge and freezer are down the stairs and at the other end of the house.(Foot surgery finally drove me to buy this.)I use it for frozen foods as well.
It looks good, too I only wish the door had a brushed stainless steel instead of a dull mirror finish.
Two weeks is not long for rendering judgment (or I'd probably give it five stars) but I'm delighted to have it.It's good for recovery and makes things much easier for other family members while you're laid up.
