Kitchenaid KUDE20IXWH Superba Series EQ Dishwasher

Kitchenaid KUDE20IXWH Superba Series EQ Dishwasher
  • ProWash(TM) Cycle determines the appropriate cycle and makes real-time adjustments for best cleaning performance
  • Premium adjusters make it easy to raise or lower the upper rack for optimal loading space
  • Whisper Quiet(R) (46 dBA) Sound Insulation System helps maintain a quiet home during operation
  • 2 1/2-inch flush console puts all the controls at your fingertips and features a seamless, sleek design
  • EQ wash system offers uncompromised wash and dry performance and exceptionally quiet, energy efficient operation

The control panel is a flat, touch screen type system rather than a "push button" system. The "buttons" are outlined on the panel so you know where to touch it to activate the cycle you want, butthey're not actually buttons. It's a flat control panel and it is ultra sensitive. It takes no pressure whatsoever to activate it.If anyone gets near it and inadvertently brushes up against it, one of the "buttons" gets activated. In the middle of a cycle, the "cancel/drain" designated area of the control panel accidentally got touched by someone at the sink beside it and the machine did exactly that.It canceled the current cycle and drained the water and shut off.I had to start it all over, which wasted time, water and energy. It's also super easy to touch the control panel without meaning to if you don't keep your thumb out of the way when you open the door.I've only had it for 4 days and I can't even count how many times the machine has reacted to a part of the panel being accidentally touched. The slightest touch will activate it.I don't even have any small children in the house. If you have curious little hands which like to touch everything they pass, the machine will be activating 100 times a day.As for cleaning, it does clean exceptionally well, but doesn't dry near as thoroughly as ANY previous dishwasher I've ever owned. When it's done, the entire interior of the machine is still wet (the dishes are 90% dry, but not the walls of the machine itself).I've had to leave the door open to air dry it out for fear of it beginning to rust inside.Maybe that's just the way of the new energy saving models and maybe they all dry less these days.If I had it to do over, I wouldn't choose this model again.

Vinotemp VT-16TEDS Thermo-Electric Digital 16-Bottle Wine Chiller, Black and Stainless

Vinotemp VT-16TEDS Thermo-Electric Digital 16-Bottle Wine Chiller, Black and Stainless
  • Freestanding digital wine chiller keeps up to 16 bottles properly chilled
  • Thermo-electric cooling system protects wine from unnecessary vibration
  • Ultra-quiet operation; does not use ozone-depleting chemicals
  • Energy-efficient dual-paned glass door; 3 pull-out shelves included
  • Measures 20-3/4 by 17-1/8 by 20-1/8 inches; 1-year limited warranty

I guess I was lucky compared to others, I got 18 months out of it. The temp display went out and I had the ticking noise that other reviews mentioned. It could not handle a warmer room (couldn't keep the temp I had set it at) but simply moving elsewhere solved the problem. I'm glad I got it on clearance and only spent $50, but I don't recommend it at any other price. I wonder if ANY of the smaller free standing units last, at least one that is affordable. Seems like most reviews complain they only last 6-18 months.

Bought this Vinotemp wine fridge because of low price.Promply died 4 months after warranty expired.Read other reviews please. Also Thermo-Electric cooling is not like real fridge. If your house is 75-80 degrees in summer this thing will almost blow up trying to get to 65-70 even though it is set on 55.Do not buy this fridge or any one like it.

My father, brother, and I all purchased this item at the same time and each and every one of ours broke down within a month of each other (around the 1 year mark). Each unit stopped cooling and/or the control board stopped and the digital temperature would not display. When it did work, the temperature fluctuated so much and was so inconsistent.I would not recommend purchasing this product unless you plan on putting it by the curbside about a year after wasting your money on it.It's quite evident that this is a poor manufacturer after seeing other reviews with the same issues.

Works (and has worked) perfectly on our kitchen counter we receive many compliments on the unit and have purchased it for others as wedding gifts. I definitely recommend this unit it's a great way to simplify wine storage in the kitchen w/out complication.

I was given mine as a gift. The fan was a bit loud and ran constantly so I unplugged it until I would need the wine chilled. When I did finally plug it in, we later found the glass cracked leaving a mosiac pattern throughout the entire window.Within a few months, the unit stopped working altogether. For the high price being charged, it's just not worth it.I would say it's worth maybe $60 at most given the short life span.

Hamilton Beach 67801 Health Smart Juice Extractor, Black

Hamilton Beach 67801 Health Smart Juice Extractor, BlackThis is more for the person who is a casual "juicer". It works well for what it is. A few things I would change: The hopper is too small, you have to cut your produce to size to fit in the shoot. The side flaps are flimsy and seem like they could break easily, so be gentle with them. Cleaning up the juicer is a messy pain. Having said that, great deal for the price and I would recommend it as a BUY for the casual juicer.

i like this juicer a lot, it is pretty quiet and powerful. its true it does leave a bit of pulp at the end, but i just freeze the pulp to use later in soup. great juicer for the price!!

For the money ($25), this was a good value. The hopper is too small. You must slice everything down to a small size.Overall, I am happy.

I wanted to get a juicer because I wanted to try out juicing because of the health benefits of juicing. I purchased this juicer because it was inexpensive and seemed like it would be a good starter juicer and I didn't want to make a huge investment on a really expensive one if it wasn't something I was going to stick with. I'm actually still using it after about a year. The mouth is narrow so you do have to cut things up a little smaller which is a little time consuming and you do get quite a bit of pulp but I'm not really sure if that's normal since I've never used another juicer. Overall I'm happy with it. It's doing the job for my juicing about three times a week.

The juicer does leave lots of pulp, granted, but look at it not as a "juicer" but as a "juicer/pulper combo". Here are some extremely basic ideas for tomato and carrot pulp:

Tomato pulp Chop up some onions, green pepper, garlic, and cilantro, throw in some lemon juice and olive oil, add your favorite spices, and turn it into a nice salsa.

Carrot pulp Throw it into the slow cooker, mix a tablespoon or two or three of peanut butter into some chicken broth. Cover the pulp with the broth. Make sure the broth covers all the pulp. Mix in a dash or two or three of ground pepper and a dash or two or three of ground nutmeg. Put on low, go about your business, and come back in four hours. Serve it with a tad of chopped cilantro, lemon juice and olive oil on top.

7.0 cu. ft. GE Chest Freezer

7.0 cu. ft. GE Chest Freezer
  • 7.0 cu. ft.
  • Manual defrost
  • Power "On" light
  • Door lock
  • 2 lift-out sliding storage baskets

I really cannot say enough good things about this particular freezer. We actually have two of these in our home and will soon be adding another. (More about that later).Right off the top though I want to tell you that when you consider the shipping charges on this model and the asking price here, you can probably do much better if you buy locally. If you have a truck or larger SUV you can easily carry this thing home and avoid delivery charges.Anyway...

We went the route of manual defrost as we have had automatic defrosting units in the past and to be quite frank, they, the automatic defrosting units will cause a significant rise in your electric bill. With these small units we have found that complete defrosting is quite avoidable if you simply take a nice and sturdy plastic scraper (like the one you use on your car windshield in the winder) and keep the frost build-up down every few weeks are so then the chore of completely emptying your unit is kept to a minimum. We have found that once ever 18 months or so is quite adequate.

These units are extremely quiet and there is no problem with the motor/compressor constantly coming on.We have both of our freezers on our back porch next to an old refrigerator we keep as a back-up and overflow unit. The reason we choose to purchase and install two smaller units, rather than one large chest unit, is that we found with the large chest unit we simply had too much food wastage over the years.Food seems to get lost in these things and I for one absolutely hate digging thought bags and packages and freezer containers to find one small item...all the while risking frost bite.

We always have a large garden and neither my wife nor I do any canning. This is a choice we made several years ago. All of our produce from the garden in properly prepared and then frozen. We also buy in bulk and have found we save a tremendous amount of money in doing so. The presence of a large or smaller home freezer makes it possible to capitalize on discounts on perishable foods. This we do often. The only drawback of this isthe cost of a deep freezer. You can get one like this for under $300 and the annual energy cost varies, but is usually somewhere around $50 a year. To break even, you're going to need to be saving about $60-70 a year on your food costs. For our family, we can sometimes save that much in a month due to our deep freezer. Between the flash-frozen vegetables bought at a discount, the frozen casseroles prepared ahead of time, the breakfast burritos made at an incredibly cheap rate per burrito, the produce from our garden socked away for later, and countless other little things, the deep freezer saves us money almost every single day.

Now another reason we have two of these freezers (and will soon be getting yet another) is that we keep vegetables, of which we use a lot,in one and we keep meat in another. We buy our meat in bulk, either at the local store or quite often we will purchase a half-beet.And of course there are the fish we catch (I am only able to catch really stupid fish, so we do not have that many fish in our freezer at a given time as overall, as a tribe, fish are quite a bit brighter than I am).

We have been using these units for well over a year now and have had no problems what so ever. They do have a light on them that tells you they are running which we constantly check. We did have a power outage last year that lasted for over 24 hours (this was a real bummer), but dry ice took care of that problem and we saved all of our food.

All in all these are good freezers and if you manage your shopping correctly, they will save you quite a lot of money. They are light enough that my wife and I can move them from location to location (when empty) with no difficulty what so ever.We do not use the locking mechanism on our freezers as there is no way a raccoon can get the lid open and they are the only critter that would be interested in their contents other than our grandsons.

The delivery company called to tell us there was a slight dent & gave us the option to wait for a new one or get a credit from GE.The credit covered the shipping cost. After the delivery company explained that the dent was about the size of a dime & not very noticeable we decided to take the credit. The freezer was delivered on a Saturday which was great since we both work and would not have been available to sign for it during the week.We may not have noticed defect w/o the deliverer pointing it out.The freezer itself is bigger than I thought it would be & has baskets that come out so you can put things on top that you don't want to get buried or crushed by heavier things. The freezer is working great so far in our basement.I went to the store the next day and stocked up on meat that was on sale at our local grocer.I was not able to do this before we had this freezer.Overall great experience with the product & the delivery.

I really like this for the price and the space. It is not an industrial giant and probably wouldn't work amazingly for a large family, but so far, only the bottom is covered and there is probably 8 lbs of beef, a bag of chicken breasts, 7 2.0 lbs sausage, and a whole lot of frozen fruits and veggies that is not even a 1/4 full! It seems to keep the cool well and overall, I can't complain.

We save A TON of money just by stocking this thing with frozen lunch meals instead of going out to eat.I calculated that we will save $2300 in the first year (that includes calculating the cost of freezer itself AND the cost of electricity to run it the meals are about $2.50 each, so you could save even more if you can stomach cheaper meals). We also bought a bunch of "freeze your own meals" cookbooks, but haven't been able to use them yet.I've heard that you save even more money freezing your own meals instead of buying them. This thing pays for itself and fits inside our tiny residence. It runs great we've had no problems with it making a lot of noise or leaking or anything.Just keep the frost build-up scraped off with the included scraper and you should never have to defrost it.

We had a fridge that came with a basket like this years ago, and I forgot to take it with us when we bought a new fridge. My eggs sat in the dirty carton, from the store. This neat little item, keeps the eggs in a handy carrier (which is great for when you need to take multiple eggs out, for baking or Easter Egg dying, when taking them out of the fridge). It also allows for a constant site count for your supplies can't see how many you have in a closed carton. Yes, I know that you can cut off the top of the carton, for the same thing, but --this item holds 14 eggs in total and it's CLEANwhich is something that the store carton cannot promise when you know that the eggs have been in and out from all sorts of places. When things like raw eggs are involved, I'd prefer to have a nice clean egg carrier for mine. Plus, you can store two extra eggs, in this item a neat little something, for when you have two eggs left, from last weeks shopping trip! :o)

My Mother had one of these egg trays when I was growing up so when I saw this one I had to have it. And I love the convenience of it. The handle makes it so easy to take in and out of the refrigerator. It is very sturdy and well made and I do not miss the egg crate trays from the grocery store! It is nice to open the door of my refrigerator and see this tray.

So my ice acuator broke during a holiday party, probably from a little overuse. I wasn't sure what the problem was at first but after researching and figuring out the problem was a broken piece on the ice acuator I was at ease that I didn't have to replace the motor or anything major. After taking off the cover to the ice and water dispenser I saw that a small plastic piece that was a quarter inch in length was the problem. It had broken off and was not making the proper contact when a cup would be pressed against the acuator to dispense the ice. The fix was a quick 10-15 minutes after I had received my part. Works perfect now.
