I researched the net and Amazon for the best value in a water filter for my Maytag refrigerator. The best value by far was the Aquafresh WF 295 water filter that is a replacement for the OEM Maytag UKF8001. I was able to purchase the Aquafresh filters in a three pack through Amazon from DeepDiscountco. The cost of the three pack was the best value by far and the cost per filter was less than half of the UKF8001. DeepDiscountco shipped for free and there was no tax applied. What a deal!!! The filters arrived quickly and I was surprised at how easy it was to change the filter in my Maytag. The Aquafresh filter fits and works just like the original UKF8001. The owner of DeepDiscountco sent an email thanking me for the purchase and telling me to contact him if there were any issues (there were none) with a promise of a quick resolution by make me satisfied. What more can you ask for in customer service? Very disappointed, less than a week after first installation I can already taste clorine in our water and ice. The original PUR filter went through 3 300 gallon cycles before I finally bought these filters and I never tasted clorine whatsoever. Live and learn, I was turned off by the cost of the PUR filters and tried to save some money. Next time I'll buy the PUR filters, but I guess I'm stuck with the clorine for two more filter replacements.

I bought these instead of the OEM to save some money.The water just does not taste the same as the OEM Maytag brand.Nice product, fits nice, but I would spend the extra money and get the OEM Maytag filters instead.

This is an exact replacement for the GE ice maker. After reading a post somewhere that the GE part was made by Samsung and the Samsung part could be used in place of, as well as being cheaper (by by-passing the GE mark-up)it was a no-brainer to order this part.It was delivered on time, and well packaged. Removing and replacing the old part with the new one took less than 5 minutes. Ice cubes started flowing (or being dumped out) a few hours later.

As said before, this is an inexpensive fix to the ice chute freezing up.Directions are not included other than replace all parts.I just used my camera phone to take picks of old setup before I removed the parts so I would know how it went back together.Hardest part is getting the front trim cover off of the door to expose screws.Be real careful prying from the bottom slots so as not to break the very expensive trim, then it just slides up with only 1 connector to unplug to remove it completely.Very easy fix once trim removed.

Whirlpool Ice Door Kit 8201649 NEW 2180205 4388659 purchased 8/29/11 was received sooner than expected. As previous reviewers had mentioned there were no instructions. I found these instructions helpful:

1.Find the two notches that are at the bottom of the dispenser cover on the left and right side. Pry off the cover with the flat-head screwdriver.{Yes, the front panel should just snap off. If you look under the bottom edge there is often a couple small slots. Put a flat blade screwdriver in the slot and pop the front off."

2. Find and remove the two screws that are used to secure the white switchplate with the screwdriver. Pull the switchplate out of the door and set it aside.

3. Remove the front cover assembly to access the ice dispenser housing. Locate the ice dispenser lever and take it out of the housing. This will expose the door mechanism assembly.

4. Press on the torsion spring and take out the door mechanism assembly.

5. Examine the door mechanism assembly to see if the pin that is used to open and close the ice door is broken. Pull out the broken pin and insert a new pin that is included with the ice-door kit.

6. Place the door mechanism assembly back in the door and make sure the torsion spring is set into the ice door correctly.

7. Re-attach the ice dispenser lever and then set the front cover assembly back onto the door. Set the switchplate back in place and secure it with the screws.

8. Place the dispenser cover back on the door to complete the project.

Kit is installed and working well.

This item took nearly a month to recieve.If you check their feedback, it looks like not shipping orders is a common problem.I was litterally a day away from filing a claim with Amazon when it showed up.

It should be noted that the item did not include any installation instructions or the spanner wrench listed in the description.

I purchased this unit to install on the hot water line that runs to our large shower in the master bath. The dual shower unit has the auto adjust heat settings, and multiple jets, including body jets. About every 6 months, I would need to disassemble the control unit, and clean out a fine residue that built up on the ultra fine mesh screens inside the handles. Even with softened municipal water, these screens would clog up and the water pressure would go down to a trickle in 3-6 months. I isolated it to the issue to hot water only. This cleaning process was not fun, as it was a timely process.

I installed this unit on the hot water line going to the bath, and installed a 5 micron filter. The unit is heavy duty, and built to withstand the hot water. So far, after 6 months, the pressures are fine. I'll be changing the cartridge soon.

I bought this filter to keep sediment and scale from clogging my sink. I am sure it is coming from the water tank. It was the only filter i could find under $100 rated for hot water. I expected the item in 2-3 days, as promised, yet it took ten. I was also disappointed it had no installation instructions. I assumed it needed a bracket, so I tapped the holes to 1/4" and made a metal bracket to hold it. It does seem to do a good job filtering the water.

When I bought my product it said to not worry about registration or invoices because since I bought from Amazon it was all done automatically. Then I had a problem with my product. Make sure that you register your product with the invoice when you first get it. I didn't when I first got my product because it said I didn't have to. However, after my product broke, I went to file my claim and they wanted an invoice. I thought, well, I will get one from Amazon, but since it was like 1.5 years ago it was a pain. I was able to get an invoice emailed to me and then I sent it to Square Trade. They sent me a label for me to print to send back my product and then they promptly gave me an Amazon gift card. I would say this was a good buy, just register when you first get your item.

It's an insurance policy.Granted it's cheap insurance (the cost), but what else can I say.I think it was worth it.

Supco Replacement for Whirlpool 4396508 Filter, 3-Pack

Bought 3 pack.Installed first as instructed.Ran for about a month hoping smell from water after insalling new filter would go away.Never did.Switched out with #2, smell went away.There was something definitely wrong with the 1st filter.It's not rocket science.....it's charcoal, plastic, and a washer.I'm guess margins are decent on the product therfore no reason the quality should lack.Not buying AquaFresh again.Will pay the little extra and buy manufacturer suggested replacements.

These filters have been recently redesigned by the manufacturer.They DO NOT fit.Hassle with the return also. I woild never recommend these filters.Had to go back to the OEM.
