This was a good deal compared to all others I shopped around for. My only beef is that the fresh packs came with the holder which I didn't need because they are already in the fridge. I consider it a waste and it defeats the purpose of recycling.

Not sure what the problem is with the fridge the other three reviewers were delivered, but I bought mine on 5/16/11 and it was delivered free of charge on 5/18 (they had a spring special going on on the compact appliance site). I was concerned about the reviews I read here, but I had already bought it, so, I went and bought a fridge thermometer.I put it inside the glass, about half way down the fridge. I plugged it in around 1PM and by 10PM, the temp was about 38 degrees. That seems pretty damned cold to me. So no problems so far. Very well built, very solid, and the glass front with LED light is pretty badass in my man cave.
I will say, and hence the missing fifth star, that the Instructions...um......suck. I needed to change the way the door opened (right to left) and it would have been nice to have some instructions. I eventually figured it out, but it took me about an hour to get the door just right, so it closed with a tight seal.
Additionally, it would help to have some guidance on the initial setup. The manual basically says "plug it in". Im not kidding. It has an "ON" setting and a "1-7" setting. I think you turn it 'ON" and get it cold and then set it to the level you want after that. But there is nothing to tell you if "1" is the coldest or "7" is the coldest. This would take one sentence to explain, and would be helpful.
Lastly, I dont think anyone works at EdgeStar. I called ten times to get some answers and was on hold each time for about 3 minutes and then it said "please leave a message". I finally did but never received a response. I also sent an email with my number and email, and again, no response.
So, if you want a good looking, well built fridge that DOES get cold, and are comfortable that no one is available to address any of your questions, then you can't go wrong with this.

Just like the other two reviews. It's nice and quiet, looks great, but barely keeps drinks cool. It's better than nothing, but not a LOT better than nothing. I wish I had bought a mini-fridge in black like I wanted, but the GF said looked "tacky". At least I won that one.... .
Do NOT buy one of these. You will not be happy with it.

This was pretty difficult to get on, once I finally got it on 'good enough' there were small bubbles I hoped would go away.Went out of town for a week and came back to find that there is now a GIANT bubble going through the whole thing, which means I need to reapply.Not happy, would not recommend.

DB Roth you suck!!

In the application that I use this product in it worked well and I had no problems with it that is a strong it could be a bit stronger.

I really thought I could pull this one off, but once I got it on the dish washer it looked so ghetto!!Needless to say, it was removed and I then removed the front of the dishwasher and purchased the epoxy black paint for appliances from walmart and sprayed it on.Looks just like it was supposed to be black.Save your $$$Unfortunately I wasted mine:((

Do not buy the product.Quality is iffy but for the money we went along with it.After 3 months, the freezer side is leaking.This refrigerator is great! Freezes food excellent. No worries about food spoiling, items stay fresh for a very long time!

Model numbers change and "new" versions are released, but this is the fridge that I bought a few years ago... today, just 5 years later, it has basically fallen apart.DRAWERS FREEZE Yes, I do turn it down but the bottom two drawers freeze no mater what I do.Therefore, they can't be used unless I want to freeze something.
EVERYTHING BREAKS Ever singe drawer has the same problem the plastic isn't strong enough for normal wear and tear so they ALL broke after about 2-3 years of use.The deli drawer no longer hangs at all, the hanging drawers on the door also broke and can't be used much.
HANDLES ARE LOOSE Don't know why, they just are.
BOTTOM CAME OFF You know that black thing that goes across the bottom, it fell off too.Don't know how or why.
POORLY DESIGNED SHELVES It has shelf lips in all the wrong places to reduce the actual usable size.
The good news for me is that I saved my old refrigerator in the laundry room.I keep this one because it is stainless steel and matches the other appliances.Otherwise, I am not sure how I would use this thing.
NICE FINISH that is about the only thing I can say.It has a pretty stainless steel finish.

My fridge is 11 years old, I broke this piece when I tried to install ice door chute. Didn't realize that amazon had this part. I grabbed one and it worked perfectly. The compatibility reference is really helpful. My fridge is not whirlpool, this part still works for it. Installation is easy, not necessarily plug n ply; but definitely can be done with DIY.

It is true that I was not given a hassle for my claim, but no one showed up for the repair appointment (4-hr window) of my dishwasher.When I called square trade they told me no one was home when the technician showed up and then simply gave me the phone number for the technician.I got his voicemail and left a message.I didn't get a call back until four days later and was told by the technician that square trade never made the appointment.In the meantime I read the reviews for the repairman they used.His reviews were horrendous.I was told that day that a manager from square trade would call me.That was five days ago and I'm still waiting for Enrique's call.He's apparently the only manager there who can help me so i call square trade every day and am told each day that Enrique will call me before the end of the day and he never does.I'm still waiting...Square trade is pricey and they use poor technicians.I would steer clear of them in the future.

We went the route of manual defrost as we have had automatic defrosting units in the past and to be quite frank, they, the automatic defrosting units will cause a significant rise in your electric bill.With these small units we have found that complete defrosting is quite avoidable if you simply take a nice and sturdy plastic scraper (like the one you use on your car windshield in the winder) and keep the frost build-up down every few weeks are so then the chore of completely emptying your unit is kept to a minimum.We have found that once ever 18 months or so is quite adequate.
These units are extremely quiet and there is no problem with the motor/compressor constantly coming on.We have both of our freezers on our back porch next to an old refrigerator we keep as a back-up and overflow unit.The reason we choose to purchase and install two smaller units, rather than one large chest unit, is that we found with the large chest unit we simply had too much food wastage over the years.Food seems to get lost in these things and I for one absolutely hate digging thought bags and packages and freezer containers to find one small item...all the while risking frost bite.
We always have a large garden and neither my wife nor I do any canning.This is a choice we made several years ago. All of our produce from the garden in properly prepared and then frozen.We also buy in bulk and have found we save a tremendous amount of money in doing so. The presence of a large or smaller home freezer makes it possible to capitalize on discounts on perishable foods.This we do often. The only drawback of this isthe cost of a deep freezer. You can get one like this for under $300 and the annual energy cost varies, but is usually somewhere around $50 a year. To break even, you're going to need to be saving about $60-70 a year on your food costs. For our family, we can sometimes save that much in a month due to our deep freezer. Between the flash-frozen vegetables bought at a discount, the frozen casseroles prepared ahead of time, the breakfast burritos made at an incredibly cheap rate per burrito, the produce from our garden socked away for later, and countless other little things, the deep freezer saves us money almost every single day.
Now another reason we have two of these freezers (and will soon be getting yet another) is that we keep vegetables, of which we use a lot,in one and we keep meat in another.We buy our meat in bulk, either at the local store or quite often we will purchase a half-beet.And of course there are the fish we catch (I am only able to catch really stupid fish, so we do not have that many fish in our freezer at a given time as overall, as a tribe, fish are quite a bit brighter than I am).
We have been using these units for well over a year now and have had no problems what so ever.They do have a light on them that tells you they are running which we constantly check.We did have a power outage last year that lasted for over 24 hours (this was a real bummer), but dry ice took care of that problem and we saved all of our food.
All in all these are good freezers and if you manage your shopping correctly, they will save you quite a lot of money.They are light enough that my wife and I can move them from location to location (when empty) with no difficulty what so ever.We do not use the locking mechanism on our freezers as there is no way a raccoon can get the lid open and they are the only critter that would be interested in their contents other than our grandsons.

The delivery company called to tell us there was a slight dent & gave us the option to wait for a new one or get a credit from GE.The credit covered the shipping cost.After the delivery company explained that the dent was about the size of a dime & not very noticeable we decided to take the credit.The freezer was delivered on a Saturday which was great since we both work and would not have been available to sign for it during the week.We may not have noticed defect w/o the deliverer pointing it out.The freezer itself is bigger than I thought it would be & has baskets that come out so you can put things on top that you don't want to get buried or crushed by heavier things.The freezer is working great so far in our basement.I went to the store the next day and stocked up on meat that was on sale at our local grocer.I was not able to do this before we had this freezer.Overall great experience with the product & the delivery.Want 7.0 cu. ft. I really like this for the price and the space. It is not an industrial giant and probably wouldn't work amazingly for a large family, but so far, only the bottom is covered and there is probably 8 lbs of beef, a bag of chicken breasts, 7 2.0 lbs sausage, and a whole lot of frozen fruits and veggies that is not even a 1/4 full! It seems to keep the cool well and overall, I can't complain.We save A TON of money just by stocking this thing with frozen lunch meals instead of going out to eat.I calculated that we will save $2300 in the first year (that includes calculating the cost of freezer itself AND the cost of electricity to run it the meals are about $2.50 each, so you could save even more if you can stomach cheaper meals).We also bought a bunch of "freeze your own meals" cookbooks, but haven't been able to use them yet.I've heard that you save even more money freezing your own meals instead of buying them.This thing pays for itself and fits inside our tiny residence. It runs great we've had no problems with it making a lot of noise or leaking or anything.Just keep the frost build-up scraped off with the included scraper and you should never have to defrost it.
