This was the second replacement ice maker I've installed in this refrigerator.(Other than the ice maker, the refrigerator has worked great.)The first replacement I bought was an Amana from the dealer.It cost $116.You do the math.

I had trouble plugging in the wiring harness, but otherwise it was a simple installation.(Unlike other reviewers experiences, the wiring harness was a trifle too long and hung down below the unit.)After a day, it still wasn't producing ice.It could have simply been that it took an extra long time to cool down to operating temperature, but I decided to use the wiring harness from the unit I replaced.A few hours later it was pumping out ice.

This ice maker works better than the original.Periodically I have to shut it off because I have too much ice.Great performance at a cheaper price.Would that everything was this great of a deal.

TIP:I put the temperature control for the freezer unit between four and five.That seems to be the optimum for the ice maker.Cooler and it tends to freeze up.Warmer and it slows down.

I figure this unit will last two and a half to three years.Trays in ice makers used to be made of cast metal and would last the life of the refrigerator.Now the trays are made of plastic with some sort of coating which allows the ice to release easily.With the constant and heating and cooling the coating eventually breaks down.Prior to breaking down, you'll find bits of plastic in with your ice.The surface of the tray becomes pitted and will eventually be unable to release the ice.When you start seeing those plastic bits in with your ice, save yourself some time and buy a new replacement unit.

We've had this fridge about 18 months and it is used continually for storing beer. It has survived a cross country relocation with no damage or maintenance. The fridge works well and keeps the beer cool what more can you ask?

I drop a star as the shelf arrangement and door pockets are a little odd. If a couple of bottles or cans are put in the door then this really eats up the space in the fridge. It would be better with no door pockets at all and reducing door depth.

Overall though a good product although it does make a reasonable amount of fan noise.

Definitely is very quiet.Fan runs continually.Cooling mechanism is state-of-the art, but very fragile and poorly constructed. Cooling mechanism is inadequate even for such a small refrigerator.Cooling time for items placed inside is very long hours, because the of the underpowered cooling mechanism.Metal cans a bit faster.Food sealed in platic containiners cool most slowly.Not wise to place items in this fridge that require very rapid cooling to avoid microbial growth.Sealed cans and bottles fine.This fridge does not have a small freezer compartment, because the cooling mechanism is underpowered, and likely not capabile of reaching the freezing point of water even if the cooling mechanism capacity was doubled or tripled.

Much better off buying a small conventional fridge which are now adays equally quiet and can do the job.

The cooling mechanism in mine (this model) self-destructed after 18 months.In the recycle bin now.

I installed this unit about 36 hours ago, so things could still swirl down the tubes, but there is a lot of reason for optimism.

We've had the Kenmore Elite version of the LG refrigerator for almost six years now.Within the past two, the ice maker began giving us problems.The major problem was it would often not stop making ice when the bin was full.The result was the ice would pile up on top of the ice maker, eventually physically stopping it from dumping the cubes. Eventually, the water outlet would also freeze, which meant getting rid of some ice and getting out the wife's hair dryer.The problem was the arm that is supposed to signal the bin is full. This unit has a different design for that arm that solves the problem.

The original unit stored the arm in the up position and would attempt to drop it to detect when the ice bin is full.Ours would get trapped under the newly dumped ice, which for whatever reason did not put the brakes on the ice making process.The new design starts with the arm in the down position, tucked under the ice maker.It attempts to raise the arm when it is ready to dump and refill.If it can not, the process stops until the ice level gets low enough to allow the arm to swing up.The arm returns to the down position before the cubes get dumped, so there is no chance the arm can get trapped in the up position.Problem solved!

The housing around the water outlet also has changed.This is smaller and looks better protected.

Installation is easy: two mounting screws, a plug for the wires and a grounding wire that gets screwed into the ice maker.

Ice makers have always been problematic. I expect 5-7 years before I have to replace them. At least from the design change, I don't think I'll be replacing this one for the same reason as its predecessor.

The vendor, Quickshipparts, got the unit to us in three days, which is very quick.

As I understand it from reading on the internet about icemakers in modern refrigerators, the icemakers only last about 5-6 years.I had a problem with my LG French door refrig after about a year.At that time, LG replaced at no charge.About 5 years later, the icemaker stopped working again.I tried pressing and holding the ice sizing button, but that didn't help.I also took the icemaker apart and found ice in the gearing but that didn't fix the problem.So, replacing the icemaker was the next step.

Replacing the icemaker is relatively easy....2 mounting screws that are easily accessible, 1 electrical connection, and a screw for the ground wire.Connecting the electrical connection and ground wire screw to the new icemaker is a little awkward, but doable.After installation, I had to press and hold the ice sizing button to get the new icemaker started.

I'm thinking of getting a second icemaker for when this one goes bad in about 5 years.

Frigidaire : IM115 Ice Maker Kit

I have a Frigidaire frig that didn't come with and ice maker. I really didn't need one for awhile because I needed the extra freezer space. I just bought an up right freeze and realized I could now get an ice maker. I found this one and decided to buy it since it wasn't that expensive(I was thinking they would cost a lot more). It took me about 20-25 minutes to install it. It took me a little long because I couldn't find the wire for the solenoid. The wire on my frig was cable tied to the back of the frig's coils. Got it all hooked up and its making ice. Now I don't have to make sure I always have cold drinks in the frig.

I did have one small problem: one of the harness plugs for the water valve was bent on delivery.I had to bend it back into place, and it is functioning properly.

This product works as expected, and installation was pretty easy.My favorite part was the clarity and detail of the installation guide.Some installation guides are written in broken English, with poor detail or illustrations.This guide combined proper grammar with good illustrations, and all of the information was exactly correct.

My situation was a bit more complex because I needed to run the water supply line from a bathroom on the adjacent wall.Despite that, I was up and running relatively quickly.

One important thing to have is patience.Don't over-tighten anything! Check all fittings for leaks after the supply is turned back on.After installation, there will be air in all the supply lines, so it can take a really long time (at least several hours, perhaps a day) for ice to start forming, and once it does you want to throw away the first few trays.Also, you should use an inline water filter for best ice quality.

We upgraded from a 1.7 cubic foot Haier fridge that was several years old and giving us temperature control issues, freezing everything over and building up so much ice that the door wouldn't close.I was ready to go "Office Space" on its a#$ and take it into a field somewhere and beat it into little pieces.

After a lot of shopping around, we finally decided on this Danby for the upgrade.

First let me say that we purchased from an appliance store, not from Amazon, so did not have any of the shipping issues that some people have had.

However, I wanted to contribute my positive review, as I think the product deserves a few more.

Compared to the 1.7 cu ft. fridge, this is utterly roomy and delightful.I was pleased with how much I could fit in here.

It's a functional mini fridge that is silent, except when the compressor kicks in (which is every 30 minutes or so, or after the door has been open for a few minutes) and only runs for a little while.The compressor creates a low-frequency hum that is noticeable but not at all loud or obnoxious.Some noise is to be expected from an appliance, unless you're in the super-high-end ($$$) market, and, in my opinion, this is relatively quiet.

The adjustable shelves inside are glass, not wire, and seem sturdy and well-made.Maybe could have used one extra shelf, but not a big deal.There is a nice spot in the door where you can fit a bottle of wine, a big tray underneath the freezer box for collecting water during defrosting, a temperature adjust knob (which we left at the factory setting and has been perfect so far), a nice freezer (not tall enough to fit a pint of ice cream, but works for us), and it comes with a little ice cube tray...

The #1 problem we were having with the last fridge the freezer has not been an issue with this one.

Ice cubes freeze up in a reasonable amount of time, and things on the refrigerator shelf DIRECTLY below the freezer box do not get frozen.Can I get an amen.

The one reason we ALMOST didn't buy this fridge was that a good chunk of the door space is taken up by a soda can storage system we don't drink soda and were annoyed that this was going to be wasted space.However, we've found ways to make use of it.Because they are compartments for separate soda cans and not one big long "chute" where they are stacked and dispensed, you can stick things in the slots like apples, oranges, even bottles of beer.

The black finish is handsome and clean, the door is reversible, there is one touch automatic defrost overall, it's about as classy as you're going to get for a mini fridge in this price range.

We are VERY happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

It cost a little more but was well worth the money, the item shipped very quickly and there is now more "vacuum" taste.

In the box, you'll find the filter specified, and the filter is the right one it is a match for the filter that I was replacing (Frigidaire RF100). Also in the pack, you'll find a very small packet of Silicone Lubricant to use on the rubber o-rings of the filter (don't over-do it with the silicone, or your water will taste AWFUL). There are two o-rings associated with the filter; one at the top (this can be seen in the product image) and one that is placed in the bottom of the filter cup to form a solid seal with the filter housing. The replacement bottom o-ring is incredibly small, and is nowhere near sufficient. I assembled the filter per the directions listed on the package. Once I turned the icemaker water back on, I had water all over the inside of the fridge. I had to dig the old o-ring out of the trash and reuse it in the filter cup (after a thorough washing, of course).

I have the Frigidaire Gallery FRS26ZSH side-by-side. The issue with the ill-fitting o-ring may not be an issue for other models. Good luck with yours!

In response to other reviews I have not noticed a plastic flavor. I didn't soak the filter, but I did run about 20 pints through the dispenser before I even tasted the water. With the old sealant ring installed, I have had no issues with water leaking.

I am a a/c fridge tech. I do not like non OEM products as a rule for these items since they sometimes have a short life or can cause problems with units even if they fit. Other then it cycles less gallons then the OEM and may not have the additional micro filter as the OEM, I was able to purchased from this vendor a twin pack for $37.50 and free shipping. Less then $19.00 each. If both this filters lasted as long as the OEM, I still save $30.00. I took a chance and purchased these filters. They fit my fridge perfectly and no leaks. After bleeding the filter for 15 minutes, the water came out crystal clear. Since buying it in June, it has performed perfectly. I do have a 5 year line filter on my main water supply which I got from Home Depot twice and did last 5 years to catch the microbs smaller then any other filter and this cost $30.00. This filter origionally was for our drinking water and I just started the second one a few days ago after I installed the non OEM fridge filter. The water and ice from the WSL-1 came out as clear, odorless, and no bad taste for a month before I put the other line filter on as a backup. I could not tell the difference between this filter from WaterSentinel and the more expensive professional filter. I will check the fridge filter in 6 months and change it with the second one it came with just to cut it open and see what it caught the first six months and re-comment back here again. Bottome line I went over 300 words to say this is a good deal either way. Do not use any other vendor since some of them take forever to ship and no guarentee. I received the WaterSentinel in 7 days of ordering and they were new. Hope this helps.

I bought this cooler to go under a walk up counter being added to our basement.Before buying I searched for reviews here as well as on the web, but didn't find anything stating bad experiences or poor quality issues with this model.The cooler arrived without issue so I thought things were good.We held off on finalizing our cabinet order until the cooler arrived to make sure everything allowed for the recommended spacing(rear, sides & top) necessary to avoid overheating/burn out issues. After a 1 day test to make sure everything worked, the unit sat in the box for nearly 60-days while the cabinets and countertop were built and placed.Once everything was complete, we set the cooler in its spot and started to enjoy our newly finished basement. It wasn't more than 30-days of use before the temp rose from 42 to 57 degrees and wouldn't cool any lower.

I called Compact Appliance to address my problem and was told that my purchase date was more than 90-days ago so only parts are covered by warranty.If I wanted to, I could pay $75.00 up front to cover their minimum labor costs, I must pay the shipping costs back to C.A for repairs andI would not be given the address for return shipping until I paid them the minimum labor fee.Given I was charged $90.00 for delivery initially, I figure we are looking at $165.00 to maybe fix a manufacturer defect with the same OEM part(s) that failed after only 30-days of operation.

If i had it to do over again, I would have avoided this product and bought a slightly higher priced Danby, Avanti, or GE Profile and probably would have come out ahead.At least these other brands have local service/repair support.

Don't make the mistake I made.... Stay away from this unit, or look on Craigslist for mine if you only need a 57 degree cooler.

It's a perfect fit for the trash compactor that we never used and looks great. This would work better for wine or anything you don't want ice cold, the lowest setting is 39 degrees which sounds quite cold but... not really. It's not as quiet as I had hoped. That said the price is great, looks great and fills the spot with a little more frig space that I can always use that.

Update, I've had the Beverage Cooler for a few years now and would definately recommend it. It still isn't as quiet as I would like but I've gotten use to it.

Overall, I am happy with this product, especially for the price.However, it was very difficult to attach the handle due to unclear directions and zero diagrams.Also, the shelves do not fit exactly as described in the manual, but are still functional.Lastly, I am not able to fit all 94 cans into the unit, but enough that I am still able to keep my bar comfortably stocked.I would buy again, but if you need exactly 94 cans, this may not hold them all.

Nice looking unit. Looks great. Stopped cooling 3 days out of the box. Called the maker and they were very prompt in replacing the unit. The new one unit works great so far. Did not like the hassle but was impressed with with the way they handled it.
