Frigidaire : IM115 Ice Maker Kit

I have a Frigidaire frig that didn't come with and ice maker. I really didn't need one for awhile because I needed the extra freezer space. I just bought an up right freeze and realized I could now get an ice maker. I found this one and decided to buy it since it wasn't that expensive(I was thinking they would cost a lot more). It took me about 20-25 minutes to install it. It took me a little long because I couldn't find the wire for the solenoid. The wire on my frig was cable tied to the back of the frig's coils. Got it all hooked up and its making ice. Now I don't have to make sure I always have cold drinks in the frig.

I did have one small problem: one of the harness plugs for the water valve was bent on delivery.I had to bend it back into place, and it is functioning properly.

This product works as expected, and installation was pretty easy.My favorite part was the clarity and detail of the installation guide.Some installation guides are written in broken English, with poor detail or illustrations.This guide combined proper grammar with good illustrations, and all of the information was exactly correct.

My situation was a bit more complex because I needed to run the water supply line from a bathroom on the adjacent wall.Despite that, I was up and running relatively quickly.

One important thing to have is patience.Don't over-tighten anything! Check all fittings for leaks after the supply is turned back on.After installation, there will be air in all the supply lines, so it can take a really long time (at least several hours, perhaps a day) for ice to start forming, and once it does you want to throw away the first few trays.Also, you should use an inline water filter for best ice quality.

This was a replacement ice making unit... it installed super easy... so easy you don't even need the directions (they are detailed for those who require it).It didn't start producing ice immediately as I had hoped, but after an hour or two we had fresh ice in the bin, and a happy wife.I can't really complain!

This has to be one of the easiest products to install.The fridge is set up for it, the instructions are clear and very few tools are required. It took about 45 minutes to install, probably because I was talking to someone while working.
