GE Profile 36 In. Stainless Steel Under Cabinet Range Hood - JV666HSS

GE Profile 36 In. Stainless Steel Under Cabinet Range Hood - JV666HSS
  • Vented
  • Vertical and rear exhaust
  • Four-speed fan control

I would give this hood a 5-star review, but the metal grease filters, which protect the exhaust fans from accumulating cooking grease, occasionally fall out and onto our cook top. It has happened in the middle of the night, waking us up.

I've had GE technicians come out 3 times and have called consumer relations. GE consumer relations were not helpful at all. They said a technical manager would call me back to discuss it. After a week and a half, I called back and they told me he hadn't gotten to it yet. Five and a half weeks after my original call to consumer relations, the customer service person briefly talked with the technical manager and came back with a solution that didn't make sense (not even to the technician who eventually came to try to fix it). She would not let me talk with the technical manager directly.

The "solution" they came up with was to bend the grease filters out of shape in order to "make" them stay in place. I think there should be a better solution than that.

I was excited to receive this product because my water dispenser had been inoperable for several months. It was relatively easy to splice in.The problem is, if a frozen item is placed too close to the inside of the freezer door, the unit still freezes up.I've found that leaving the door slightly open with the dispenser light on will thaw it out in an hour or two but I feel like this shouldn't be happening. After paying for a fix to GE's problem I would like it to solve the problem permanently. This one works 80% of the time but I still end up having to thaw it out the other 20%.

3 years that's how long it's been since my water dispenser worked. The fridge is 6 years old. I was out of ideas when all of a sudden I learned about this part. I'm pretty handy with tools soI wasn't intimidated by this project. The repair itself took only a couple minutes, but I spent a lot of time cleaning the dispenser area since it was the first time I'd taken the front off the refrigerator and it was pretty groady back there. Within a half-hour we were drinking chilled water again!

I agree that the directions were not great. I was lucky enough to find an actual picture on Google where someone had taken a picture of the heater installed. It actually is easy to figure out from there. Just paste the model number of the heater in Google and there will be numerous pages detailing how to do it. I wish I knew about this years ago!

wasnt sure if this was gunna work, but it did within 24hrs.I had running water again. The instructions actually say to do a test to make sure this is the problem (a frozen water line)It says to check at the bottom of the door, under the fridge, for a blue connector. You disconnect this at the connection and then push the paddle that you would to normally get water from the dispenser and see if there is any water that comes out of the disconnected tube.If there is water coming out then this piece will work to defrost and keep the water line from freezing. If there is no water coming out, then you probably have a different problem and this piece will not necessarily help you.I thought this was good to check first before buying this piece. The instructions for installing looks complicated but its actually pretty simple.Just stare at the paper a bit and it will start to make sense after you read it a couple of times.Good luck!

The part worked just fine, but the instructions were rather cryptic. I had to find an instructional video that some good Samaritan put together in order to complete the installation. But I did and it works!

I always do my due diligence when purchasing any product. We completely remodeled our kitchen last year and specifically built a spot for a wine fridge. My criterion for the fridge was: built-in, quite, reliable, shelves capable of fitting larger bottles, and memory for settings.

We received the unit in mid-April. I unpacked the until and let it sit in our kitchen for 36 hours to allow the oil in the unit to settle. I then installed the unit in the built-in place and set the temperature. The first 2 months the unit worked without significant issue. I would certainly not call it quite but it was not horrible. It did not drowned out the living room TV, but if the TV is off you could certainly tell the fridge was running.

The trouble began in month 3. We noticed the unit rattled. I move the unit out of the area and ensured the bolts were all tight and the motor area was clean. The issue went away. Then we have a power outage. Once it was back on the unit did NOT go back to its previous settings. I was highly disappointed in this result.

In August we started to see the unit fail. The temperate in the unit would not remain where we set it. A setting of 45 only dropped the temperature down to 60. I though the circuitry might need to be reset, so I turned the unit off and unplugged it. I then set it up again out side of the built in area. The unit worked fine outside of the cabinet. I then took measurements to make sure we had proper clearance all around the unit. It did. I then slid the unit half way into its spot. The temperate went up from 45 to 55.

I then contacted Edgestar support. I was told to ensure the coils were cleaned. To do this I emptied the unit and put it on its back after unplugging it. Then i wiped down the coils which were not dirty at all. I again allowed the unit to settle for 36 hours. After plugging it in it returned to 45 degrees outside the cabinet. Push it into place and the temperature shot up to 60.

I contacted Edgestar again and I was told I'd have to ship the unit to their warehouse, pre-pay at least $70.00 to cover the first hour of labor cost, and pay to ship it back. I am VERY lucky though as their warehouse is in Austin, Tx, where I live. However, to two-way ship something of this size plus pay for labor, it would cost nearly 40% of a new unit. I asked if they provide information for local contractors and they stated they do not have recommendations.

The fact this unit has a 90 day labor warranty and I have to ship such a large appliance back to a warehouse is very disappointing. Given the reviews on BBB and around the internet, I would STRONGLY advise you NOT TO PURCHASE from this company and definitely DO NO PURCHASE this product.

Buy New EdgeStar 46 Btl Built-In Dual Zone Wine Cooler Now

We thought we did enough research on Edgestar products. Boy, were we wrong. The unit started having difficulty about 6 months after we got it. It started making rattling noises, so my husband unplugged it for a couple of days. When we plugged it back in, it seemed to work fine without the noise. A few weeks later, it went out. We were in the middle of moving and just did not have the time to deal with it. Once we did, we called the customer service only to be told that it was out of warranty (which is only 90 days)and there was nothing they would do. We took it to a local appliance repairman and he said the compressor was bad and it was not worth getting a new one. So disappointed after spending $800 and only getting 6 months of good use out of it. I will never buy another Edgestar product again.

We purchased this wine cooler to replace a Magic Chef MC44DZ.My Magic Chef worked great for 2 years then quit. After waiting for 4 months for a compressor part that was covered under warranty I paid $180 to have it installed. The unit was so loud you could hear it in every room of the house and it would not cool either zone.Several phone calls to MC customer service proved totally useless threw the unit away will never buy another MC product again and don't recommend them to anyone.

We searched and searched for wine coolers in this capacity and price range before we ran across one that met all our requirements:# of good reviews, quiet, freestanding/built-in, dual-zone.We purchased from Living Direct with a 5yr. warranty product arrived without issue and was well packed.

The quality of the unit is much better than what we had.The door is solid double-pane glass with sturdy stainless steel surround. The wine racks are pretty solid, but the other reviews that talk about larger bottles not fitting are accurate only a tall slender 750ML works perfect for front & back stacking (reason for 4 instead of 5 stars). If you don't have the unit totally full of wine this shouldn't be a huge problem.Unit hit perfect temperatures very quickly and runs very quiet. The blue lighting looks great at night doesn't quite reach all the way to the bottom, but there are lights @ the top and under the middle divider.

Would highly recommend this unit.

Update 1/2013

A few weeks back the unit quit cooling. No noises or indicators, just happened to see both temperatures ~ 77 degrees.Contacted RepairMaster to initiate "in-house" warranty that we paid $100 something for @ time of purchase. Two weeks later no phone call from anyone.Contacted RepairMaster again (very lengthy on-hold times) finally got to someone that said EdgeStar appliances were ONLY repaired @ the factory and they would not ship parts to local repairmen.Contacted EdgeStar technical support and confirmed with factory in Austin, TX that the unit would need to be sent back to them for repair.RepairMaster offered to cover freight and repair costs they also said I could try a local repair man and they would reimburse me for that.Contacted Living Direct whom I purchased the unit from and told them it was probably not a good idea to advertise/sell an in-home warranty on a product that per manufacturer can't be serviced in home.I decided to roll the dice and call a local repair service to look @ the unit since I was not interested in crating it up and shipping it off.Local repair man (Thank you H&H Appliance Lecompte, LA GREAT SERVICE) replaced a relay in about 30 mins and unit is back up and running.Keeping my fingers crossed that it will continue to work without issue.

Had I known that EdgeStar was a company that would NOT work with local repair companies to replace electronic boards, compressors, etc. especially on such a simple appliance, I would not have purchased this unit.RepairMaster could improve their hold times on the phone, but they came through in the end.Living Direct should be very clear to customers about warranty expectations on this product when selling it to other customers.

Still a little frustrated about bottles fitting in the unit, but the unit still looks good and is VERY quiet.Hope to get a few more years of service...

The shelves are so closely spaced that it is difficult to get the shelves in and out when full of wine bottles and to place and remove Bordeaux bottles. It is impossible to do the same with Burgundy bottles. If you don't mind scraping the labels off your bottles while struggling to get them in and out, then this might work for you. I consider it a big mistake for my needs unfortunately, it's mine now.

This wine fridge is great. What you see is what you get.It is seemingly built well and after a month, all is good.It creates about the same level of noise as my kitchen refrigerator. It may hold 46 bottles if they are all small, but fully loaded, my fridge has about 37.

The only issue I had was related to changing the side on which the door opens. This is NOT an easy task and the instructions are lacking to say the least.

Here are some tips on how to do it:

The inserts that cover the alternate door handle position holes these are not plugs they actually screw in with a flat blade from the back

The screws for mounting the top door hinge must be removed to switch sides CAREFUL these screws strip extremely easily. I suggest finding the right flat-head screwdriver to fit the phillips-head scews and apply a ton of force the first time or you will spend hours drilling them out.

On the top of the door where the hinge pin goes in, this IS a plug use a very small screwdriver to pop it out

Other than that, best of luck!

After a lot of research I decided on the New Air AW-121E 12 bottle wine cooler. There are a lot of coolers out on the market and most of them have reputations for poor performance. New Air seemed to have the highest ratings so I went with it. The third party seller Air & Water Inc is great. Free ground shipping was a nice touch, shipped very fast. Now for the cooler:

Installation was pretty simple, plug it in and screw on the door handle. The screws on the handle are fine, but the holes are not perfectly designed for them to be screwed in by hand (unless you're really strong) but they went in smoothly with an electric drill. I turned on the cooler and set it to my desired temperature 60 degrees F to keep red wine. Some bottles actually suggest what temperature to store the particular wine at. If you're not sure, just ask at you're local wine shop and they'll be happy to tell you.

It took about two hours for the cooler to get to the temperature I set and I confirmed it with a thermometer (impressive since it started at 85 degrees). The machine itself makes no real noise. If you listen really hard and there are no other sounds in the room you might hear a slight hiss of the fan, but you really have to try to hear it. This thing is quieter then my 20x more expensive regular fridge/freezer. I have yet to find a 750ml bottle of red that does not fit. Some of the fatter bottles stick in the shelf a bit and fit better on the bottom. Since I bought it for red wine its not really a concern, but it probably would not fit champagne both in girth and length of bottle. I haven't tried it, so I can't be sure. You might be able to fit one at the bottom at an angle. The stainless steel looks very nice and the blue LED is a cool feature. Overall if you are looking to store 12 regular sized bottles of red or white, you can't get a better product for the money. Not sure on the longevity, but New-Air seems to have a reputation for lasting a good long while.

Pros:

Excellent price

Easy Set Up

Silent Running

Attractive Look, LED for nice presentation

Great for a Small Wine Collection

Cons:

Will not accomodate super fat or long bottles

Three shelves so the last three bottles just sit on the bottom, I'm fine with this, but it might bother others.

Update

I have had this cooler for about 4 months now and I absolutely love it. So much so that I bought a second one to store my growing collection of white wines. They look very nice next to each other. It took a little longer to get down to the temperature I wanted (51 degrees), about 8 hours which was still impressive as the room was around 80 degrees. Two of these is cheaper then one of those dual zone fridges, and they also work a lot better. They make a little noise (a faint fan sound) the first day when they're cooling down, after that they are still just as silent as before. Also, regular sized 750ml champagne bottles do fit, an added bonus.

Buy 12 Bottle Thermoelectric Wine Cooler Now

I've had this cooler running in a room with an ambient temperature of 68 72F for 24 hours now, and I'm just about to switch it off and return it because of its noise level.

Initially I set it to its lowest temperature setting of 50F, which it reached in about 8 hours with 10 room-temperature bottles in it. Its fan was running continuously for that period, but that wasn't unexpected. I left the cooler at that setting overnight to let it stabilize. In the morning the fan was still running continuously. No problem, as I intended to run the cooler at 54F anyway. When I reset the temperature to 54F the fan switched off for several minutes, but after that it kicked in and out every minute or so. Out of curiosity I reset the temperature to 60F and got the same result the fan switched off for several minutes and the temperature drifted up (quite quickly), but once it reached 60F it cycled on and off repeatedly. It's currently running for about a minute, switching off for about 30 seconds, then switching on again for a minute, in a 72F room with the cooler set to 60F.

Now, if the fan was silent or nearly so then that wouldn't be a problem, but sadly that it isn't the case. Maybe this cooler is faulty, but the fan makes a fairly loud and penetrating buzzing sound when it's running, with the speed spooling up and down as it switches on and off. The noise level is comparable to that from noisy fans on a PC, but because it's a buzz that rises and falls and switches on and off repeatedly it's hard to ignore or get used to, and it's audible from adjacent rooms.

Two other reviewers said that the noise level on their coolers was minimal while another said that the fan was quite noisy, so this might be something that varies from one cooler to the next. I don't think anyone would describe the buzz I'm getting from this one as minimal though.

Anyway, back it goes.

UPDATE

Within an hour or so of contacting Amazon to return this item I received a call from the vendor (Air & Water) to ask if I wanted a refund or a replacement. I talked it over with them for several minutes before deciding on a refund, and shortly after that I received an e-mail with a link to print out a FedEx return label at their cost. So, although the cooler didn't meet my needs I'm very happy with the service from Air & Water.

Been running for quite a few months now.Great wine cooler but to get 4 or 5 stars it will need the following:1.Better spacing of the racks. Some bottles are difficult to get in an out because the shelves are too close together.2. Figure out how to make it a bit quieter. Just a constant hum that is louder than I think a unit designed to be out on a counter should be.

Great find! I just think the OEM unit was junk and poor design with an automotive type fuse soldered right into the board. hopefully this one will last longer.

Whirlpool 25 Cu. Ft. White Upright Freezer - EV250NXTQ

Whirlpool 25 Cu. Ft. White Upright Freezer - EV250NXTQI spent a LOT of time researching various upright freezers when my 15-year-old 20 cu. ft. frost-free upright died. The EV250NXTQ from Whirlpool looked great large, efficient use of space, and inexpensive.I was wrong. It is by far the worst freezer I have ever used or ever seen.It keeps the food so warm that the food is soft to the touch.Whirlpool sent someone out, and they thought it might be the temperature sensor. They tried to get a replacement sensor, and even replaced the freezer, but I still have the same problem.I have to keep the freezer running on Turbo mode all of the time, just to keep it at a safe temperature. This makes it a fortune to operate, wasting a ton of energy.

I absolutely hate this freezer, and the people who came out to try to figure out what was wrong were not competent.Full, 3/4 full, doesn't matter the freezer isn't cold enough unless you run it in Turbo mode. Why bother with many different settings??

Whatever you do, buy a different freezer, hopefully from a different manufacturer.

We previously used 2 freezers a relatively new 20 cf Kenmore chest and a quite old (R12?) 15 cf Gibson chest freezer. While our intent was to always use one freezer except for the time of year when we either buy a side of beef or store recently harvested venison, we found ourselves using both freezers all year long. The old R12 freezer which worked great was an energy pig (it would work in a cold or hot garage which is a benefit of these older freezers).

At the time of our purchase, both of our freezers were about half full, and needless to say, we really couldn't find anything in either of them due to their chest design. We then took everything out of both old freezers and put them into the new Frigidaire upright freezer.Much to our amazement, it sucked up everything from both freezers and we could actually see what we had!!My wife laughed when she saw that I had about 12 boxes of Toaster Strudel in the freezer. My excuse was that I got them on sale but the cold reality was that I never knew how many we actually had and sure didn't want to face the wrath of the kids if I ran out. We sent the old 15 cf freezer to be retired for recycling and kept the spare 20 cf for future use if needed. I expect we will rarely, if ever, need the 20 cf chest again but will keep it given we have extra space and we never know how much wild game we will harvest from year to year.

I have a couple of gripes about the freezer. First, and probably to be expected, the items stored in the outside door don't get as cold. The meat feels fully frozen but the ice cream is somewhat soft (almost the same consistency as what you'd get at the grocery store).I'd prefer or at least feel better if I could get the ice cream to fully freeze in the outside door. I have the thermostat set to the highest setting short of the fast freeze feature and this goal is still not accomplished.

The second gripe is that the freezer is noisier than either of the freezers it replaced.By all means, it isn't bad or extremely loud it's just annoying. It has a higher pitched noise to it.My office is next to the room where the freezer is and I can work in relative silence if I close the door to the freezer room or my office.I mention this in the event that someone else might want to put the freezer in a noise sensitive area. The frequency of noise is most of the time, in my case, as I have the freezer on its coldest setting so it therefore seems to run most of the time.

I recommend this freezer and would buy an upright freezer from now on given the choice. The visibility of the items in an upright freezer clearly outweigh the benefits of saving a few bucks worth of electricity a year by having a chest freezer. By the way, I purchased this at Sears and have had it for a few weeks at the time of this review.

Review concluded unless you want to read a horror story about Sears:

We had a bunch of problems with Sears Customer Service and Delivery. We ordered two appliances at one time to be delivered at the same time but due to a multitude of errors by them they delivered the freezer on schedule and missed the refrigerator. They tried to make up for it by promissing to have the refrigerator to us the next day by 8 p.m.Sears called to confirm the delivery for the next day between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. and never showed or called even after they confirmed the delivery. Sears had the order marked "Cancelled Do NOT notify customer."Can you believe that?

A Sears representative then told us that we cancelled the order which we of course did not. Who would cancel a refrigerator order when your old one isn't working? They told us to see our original salesperson at the store which we did. He suggested that Sears has had a lot of delivery problems duh! After a bunch more hassle trying to fix the mess (and being told by another salesperson that we cancelled the order), we gave up and told them to actually cancel the refrigerator order.Would you believe that Sears called the following week to confirm delivery of the refrigerator for the following day? Unbelievable!!! As as it was an automated delivery system, my wife had to spend a bunch of time trying to get a live attendant to tell them we had cancelled the order a real pain. Although I would have felt guilty in doing it, I should have allowed Sears to try to deliver the refrigerator to our house while we were away. My wife earns sainthood for getting through to their CSR.

Based on my experience, I'd be very wary of purchasing appliances at Sears unless it is an in-stock item and you plan to bring the home with your own transportation.

I have been looking at this model for about a month and just about ready to buy but came across a review for this new unit. This unit was launched the summer of 2010 and not many reviews at all but Consumer Reports gives Whirlpool freezers a high rating overall. After reading this negative review about warranty exception I called Whirlpool to confirm this and the reviewer was correct. Apparently Whirlpool will void the warranty if the freezer is kept in temps that exceed 90 degrees or less than 40 degrees. Most folks keep these freezers either in their garage or basement for the most part if they have them and the reality is the manufacturer hasn't designed this unit to live in the real world of most home owners. Whirlpool's advise that I check with other manufacturers since she believed they are all made this way and have to be kept in careful climate. The reviewer was from MS where it gets hot but I live in SW Washington and it also get very hot in the summer. I am not spending 900.00 for a freezer that will break down compared to my older fridge/freezer that is ancient and keeps on ticking in hot and cold conditions in my garage. I have no basement and have no room to put a huge 24cf freezer in my house! How many folks you know have a stand up freezer in their kitchen or bedroom or whatever or anyplace else that has heat and air conditioning? If so then this freezer is for you but the majority of us will wait.

Oster 4208 Inspire Electric Wine Opener with Wine Chiller

Oster 4208 Inspire Electric Wine Opener with Wine Chiller, Stainless SteelI was surprised as to how well this item actually worked when we opened and started using it.I purchased this as a 'filler' gift for my wife for Christmas.Knowing that it was a gadjety gift I did not have high expecations. We used this for fun and found out how easy it is to use and how cleanly it removes the cork.It opens many bottles on one charge, although we have not yet tried to prove the box statement correct that it opens 30 bottles on one charge.

Good for a person who struggles with conventional wine openers and breaking corks.

The bonus wine chiller is stylish and functional.

We actually originally bought just the wine opener at a department store. As is usual with Amazon, this online price is waaay better than what we paid for the wine opener ALONE...I was told at a dinner party that Amazon had the wine opener for less than what I paid so we went online to order several of these as gifts and found we could get the wine chiller too for less!

Not only do these two wine lovers love the opener, but every time we use it in front of someone they fall in love and want one so it's the perfect gift.

So...we ordered a few with the wine chiller and tried out the wine chiller as well and are equally as impressed! We had a dinner party and ran low on white wine. A fast chill provided by the wine chiller kept the dinner party flowing smoothly.

We had a $150 dollar wine opener that didn't work nearly as impressive and easily as this one did. In fact, a wine opener just like this is still in wine catalogs for over $100. It may even be the same one...that's the first place we saw it.

As for how it works...place it on the bottle, push the button, ZIP...it uncorks it for you.

TO REMOVE THE CORK: (totally easy) you just push the button in reverse and it pops it right out for you to remove it! Anyone who didn't know this trick may not have read that part of the instructions as I could see that trying to remove it otherwise would be difficult. but it's a cinch if you push that reverse button...even easier than removing it from a manual opener!

CONCLUSION: I love to drink wine but hate opening it and have broken enough corks in my day to realize I shouldn't. This is uncorkage 101 at it's finest whether you are a pro opener or as clumsy as me...looks impressive, is a major conversation piece once you use it, works in seconds with no brainpower needed, and the battery charge lasts so long that we even took it on a cruise and uncorked our wine during the whole trip perfectly and still came home and used it for a few weeks without having to recharge!

The wine chiller works just as well as the ones costing hundreds more. We are a lover of Oster and Amazon for this bargain set for our gift giving!! My parents, who have everything, are as hooked as we are on this and now gift it themselves to others.

And, more importantly, we've had it for a year now and it's as good as new. Some more expensive wine openers we've had had more fragile pieces that didn't hold up.

While it's the perfect gift, you'll want to keep it for yourself if you don't yet have one.

To my dismay, I find that my beloved wine has a synthetic cork and this opener won't work AT ALL to open it. :-( Ok, I'm agreeable, so I decide I will save it to use on the nice little Torrontes that I like in warmer weather. Well, I recently had occasion to try the opener on that bottle and guess what???Yep, it has a synthetic cork also and now I have a USELESS product occupying precious counter space because I didn't try on the white until months later (I bought it in the winter) and now it is too late to return it.

I wish the maker would state that it will NOT open bottles with synthetic corks.Check which type of cork you are likely to need opened before ordering this opener. I am a very unhappy customer.

***edit***

Spoke with Oster CS and they told me that NONE of their electric wine openers work with the synthetic/plastic corks. NONE OF THEM! Also said that their product info doesn't state that they do and they are NOT responsible for the descriptions Amazon puts up. Of course this item is now outside of the return window. Fortunately it didn't cost an arm & a leg but I hate throwing away $$ regardless. Many, many, many wines now have the synthetic corks so even if I did broaden my tastes this wine opener has a GREAT chance of STILL being USELESS to me. SHAME ON YOU AMAZON for not EXPLICITLY stating this critical detail AND OSTER... SHAME ON YOU FOR MAKING A CORKSCREW THAT DOESN'T OPEN SO GREAT A PERCENTAGE OF WINE BOTTLES.

I received this as a gift last Christmas. I have used it consistently now and it never fails. It is almost too easy. The trick is to hold the bottle so that it does not move, preferably supported by the counter, and lightly press down with the opener. Once you get the trick it is like slicing a piece of cake. No messed up cork screws just a smooth opener. It takes up very little room on the counter and once charged works for quite a few openings.

Avanti WDP75 Hot and Cold Water Dispenser

Avanti WDP75 Hot and Cold Water DispenserWhile it took a while to get here, my husband agrees with me that the Avanti Hot and Cold Water Dispenser was well worth the wait.

After our old dispenser gave up the ghost after twenty plus years, we looked at each other and said, 'what do we do now?' We tried shopping for another one locally but nobody had what we were looking for and we were, quite frankly, spoiled.

What do we like about the Avanti?

As the poet put it, let me count the ways.

First of all, because of its Energy Saver feature, the Avanti consumes less electricity than our old dispenser which ran constantly. It was also noisy. The Avanti, in contrast, is very quiet.

The Avanti features a neat little safety lock on the hot water faucet, which the old dispenser did not The storage space in the bottom, while it doesn't keep anything cold, is quite handy.

The Avanti's white plastic square design looks clean and nice. Our old brown metal dispenser did not. Also, unlike some of the round dispensers we looked at, the Avanti is not 'tippy'. Since it sits next to the kitchen doorway and a heavy traffic area, this was a real concern.

We also looked at dispensers that pumped from the bottom as well as the reviews and decided they were not for us.

The only CON was a chemical, almost musty, taste in the water for a few weeks after we got the Avanti, but that is now gone.

All in all, we are extremely pleased with the Avanti. It's much, much better than our old dispenser and we definitely give it 5 stars.

Update 7/3/2012

Now there is a problem. (Another reviewer had the same thing happen to them in December 2010 and, in their case, it was a broken hot water line.).

When I changed the three gallon bottle for a fresh one yesterday, everything seemed fine.

As recommended, (and as usual), I left the unit unplugged, ran 4 cups of water out through the hot water faucet then plugged in the unit and turned it on.

My husband woke me at around 11 p.m. with the news that there was a huge puddle around the dispenser and what should he do? I unplugged the unit, removed the bottle and emptied the reservoir through the hot water faucet. A seam along the top of the bottom cabinet door was wet and the drip catcher under the faucets was full.

Not wanting to spend the rest of the night working on the problem, I unplugged the unit and removed the bottle altogether.

After carefully drying everything off this afternoon, I replaced the bottle, removed another 4 cups of water via the hot water faucet, plugged in the unit again and turned on the hot and cold water. At first everything seemed fine. Then an hour later, I found another puddle. This time it appeared to be the result of an overflow from the reservoir, and the water level, which I had carefully marked on the outside of the bottle, had gone down about 25%.

We have spent the rest of today trying this and that. Now the new bottle is empty, there is still a puddle of water on the floor, tomorrow is July 4th and it's too late in the day to call Avanti's Customer Service. However, first thing, Monday, I'm going to call them and see what they have to say.

Film at 11.

Update, Tuesday, July 10, 2012

I called Avanti's Customer Service number yesterday. Once I reached a technician, she questioned me about the problem in detail and I listed all the steps I had followed.

She said, in her opinion, we needed a service call and gave the number of an authorized repair shop in our area.

The repairman arrived first thing this morning. After he checked out the entire unit and found no problem, he called Avanti's Customer Service.

The Avanti technician suggested that he look at the water bottle. He did and, sure enough, there was our problem. We'd been using three gallon plastic molded bottles which we'd purchased from the same health food store where we get our distilled water.

The bottle has four seams around the top, which fits snugly into the collar above the reservoir. When we examined the last bottle we used, we noticed some extra material on a couple of the seams. This extra material is known in the plastic molding industry as 'flash' and it's supposed to be trimmed or buffed off as soon as the part comes out of the press. (More years ago than I care to count, I worked as a press operator in a plastic molding plant which made glasses for American Airlines. So I know all about 'flash'.)

The Avanti Customer Service technician said this is not an uncommon problem with these plastic bottles.

As the repairman explained, the Avanti dispenser's operation depends on maintaining an intact vacuum seal between the bottle's top and the reservoir. When a defective bottle is installed, the sheer weight of three gallons of water creates the necessary vacuum seal and it'll stay that way with no leaks until a certain amount of water is removed from the dispenser. However, as the bottle's level goes down, it weighs less and raises slightly. This, in turn, exposes the four seams around the bottle's top. The space between the the extra seam material, or 'flash', creates an air space between the bottle and the reservoir collar. When this happens, the vacuum seal is lost. The bottle level then starts gradually going down by itself for no apparent reason and, after an hour or so, there's water all over the floor.

Because our dispenser is over two years old and out of warranty, we had to pay for the service call. However, it was worth it to us and I will still give the Avanti Water Dispenser an unequivocal five stars both for their Customer Service department's helpful and courteous response and the excellence of the product itself.

December 9, 2012

Update: Our Avanti dispenser is still working fine and, to date, we've had no more problems. I will say though, for anyone who might be interested, we only use distilled water which we purchase at a local health food for .89c per gallon. It's also very important to remove 4 cups of water from the dispenser via the hot water faucet immediately after replacing the bottle.

I spent a long time trying to find the best water dispenser in this lower-end price range, and I finally decided on the Avanti WDP75. I had two GE water dispensers for 8 years, one was a higher priced stainless model with digital features, mini frig, etc, and the other a white model similar in price and features to this Avanti. So my comparison is against the GE model that sells in Home Depot for about $120.

Pros:

Very Quiet operation.

Energy Star feature: this was important to me, but it's hard to know for sure how much electricity it consumes. I do not use the hot water, so I keep that turned off. The unit shows when the chilling cycle goes on, and it is not constant, so I believe the unit is energy efficient. I was happy that the bottom is not a mini-frig, since that was a waste of electricity, and I found that the refrig area got a musty smell from moisture.

The cold water is a perfectly chilled temperature, not as ice-cold as the $300 digial GE model, and that is a plus for me. The lower priced GE model would freeze up every day, and I would have to turn off the cold, let it defrost, then try again for a few hours before it froze up again. I would never buy that GE model again for that reason, and I am so happy to say that after 2 months of use, the Avanti has never frozen up, and the cold water is a constant temperature all day. That is what I got the dispenser for.

The unit has seperate reservoirs for hot and cold water, so if you turn off either the hot or cold, that side will dispense room temperature water.

The press down area to dispense the water is easy and the water flows very quickly. I read reviews of other models which said it took a long time to fill a cup. That is not the case with this Avanti.

It's a good height and very stable. Some dispensers seemed too low, but this is the standard height, with easy access to use.

Cons:

I followed the directions exactly, and also followed the optional step of using baking soda and water and let it sit overnight. It still had a metallic musty taste. I called Customer Service and they told me to put a half cup of bleach in a gallon of water and flush it through. I did that and it still had a bad taste. It took 3 days and many gallons of water, but it is good now. I wish they could do this before it gets to the customer.

I asked Customer Service if the reservoirs were accessible to clean, and was told no, there is no way to clean the reservoirs except by adding the bleach water to the top and flushing it through.

It's ok looking, but not exactly stylish. But its a water cooler, so ok.

It does not have the feature which punctures the water bottle top. You have to peel off the sticker of the water bottle and push in the plastic center before turning the open 5 gallon bottle upside down into the dispenser. I really do not like this feature, and I don't like the way the water bottle just sits in the top reservoir of water it doesn't seem stable. The top of the 5 gallon water bottle should be cleaned with alcohol or bleach before inserting, because it literally sits in the water that is being dispensed. Despite all the other good features, I may not have bought this model if I saw this. The other models had a self-puncturing piece as part of a ring that supported the bottle. I thought all dispensers had this.

Compared to the similar priced GE dispenser, the Avanti is MUCH better because of the efficient cooling system. I also like the dispensing buttons and flow much better on the Avanti than the GE. In this price range, this model is fine. If the disadvantages are an issue, then it is necessary to go up in price to something with more features.

Quick update: I'm very satisfied with the dispenser. I don't mind the bottle-top issue, and we can turn it over without any spillage. The bottle sits securely into the opening, so it is stable. I just clean off the top and neck of the water bottle with alcohol before inserting. Works great for nice chilled water!

After reading the reviews I was not sure what to expect. But we are really happy with the water dispenser. It arrived in very good condition. No water leakage etc. We left it in upright position for 2 hours before the first use, and it worked ever since!

I agree with the previous reviews in all the positive aspects and to our biggest surprise, only the very first cups had the 'burned plastic' taste. After the fist 5 gallon bottle, the taste was completely gone. Thumbs up!

Pro:This water dispenser does exactly what we wanted it to.We turned off the cold and just have two temperatures:room temperature and hot. That allows me to drink endless hot drinks made from bottled water without constantly resorting to the microwave.

Con:There isn't enough height under the dispensers to fit a small pitcher under them for making coffee. That is mildly inconvenient.

We have had this refrigerator for over a year now and have found it to be okay as a refrigerator, but there are some design choices Samsung made which detract seriously from this fridge.First, the icemaker. The whole system is a mess. You cannot go in the freezer and get some ice out of the bin as we could in previous fridges. This means to put ice in a small mouth container we usually have to use a cup and transfer the cubes.

A bigger issue is the ice dispenser itself.Every time we use it chips of ice, some quite large, spew out from around the top of the glass and shower on the floor. There are always little puddles of water on our floor, and eventually it will damage the polyurethane coating. We are also now experiencing a more concerning issue. The ice outlet gets jammed and the motorized drive which moves the ice out gets stuck on.When this happens, the only way we have found to resolve the issue is the remove the ice bin, empty and rinse out all the little chunks of ice stuck in the outlet, and then put the empty bucket back in.This has happened several times, once when one of our kids was home by herself and the motor was stuck on for 10-15 minutes while she tried to reach us on the phone to ask what to do.

I also am concerned about the longevity of this fridge due to the flimsy nature of the plastic which lines the insider of the refrigerator side. When moving one of the shelves it went in at too much of an angle to slide in and the molded plastic shelf channel just buckled inward.Very little force was applied, this is not reasonable. We have also had the defroster in the freezer freeze over requiring a full defrost, but I think this is because we had some plastic bags covering some of the inlets.

In all, I would not recommend this refrigerator, there are other options at the same price point which might not have the same icemaker issues

Been thru 7, yes 7, Samsung Fridges since May. Not one has lasted. Started out low with the R26 side by side. 1 DOA and 1 died in 6 days. Moved up to RG side by side. It lasted 3 weeks before dying. Upgraded to the French Door AERS. It lasted about 4 weeks. Next was the HARS. It too lasted about 4 weeks before a myriad of issues reared their ugly heads.

At this point, I should have simply walked away from samsung but then my retailer offered me a great deal on the ABBP model with the duel ice makers (black color)for very cheap..couldnt resist the price...big mistake.....it died...well, lets just say it was DOA as it started cooling but never stopped. Would not defrost so it first froze everything in my FRIDGE section, before the compressor died that night, waking me to spoiled food, lots of water in the fridge, freezer, kitchen floor, which was quite a chore to clean up (some previous models had similar issue)....then they swapped that out for the ABRS (same fridge with dual ice makers, but in stainless instead of black)..It actually lasted until 2 weeks ago when the 1st issue arose and over the past 2 weeks, the issues have gotten continually worse. Left me no choice.....Went back to retailer and told them to take back their lemon samsung. The entire samsung lineup is a lemon line if I ever saw one. I've had plenty of fridges in my life and have never had any issues. My last fridge was fine...it was 10 years old...still working great...But it developed a small crack in the defrost pan that holds the water after defrosting. Not bad, but it would leak a few drops on to the floor. Repair guy said everything on unit was working great, other then the leak...advided it would cost about $200 to fix the pan.....wasnt sure if I wanted to put $200 in to a 10 year old fridge or put that $$ towards a new fridge. Decided to go with a new one. Wished I hadn't as the past 7 months has been a nightmare due to these LEMON SAMSUNGS.

Now awaiting a whirlpool and hope I have better luck, but regadless, I would not wish ANY SAMSUNG MODEL ON MY WORST ENEMY...RUN, DONT WALK..AWAY FROM ANY SAMSUNG. Dont let the sleek looks, tons of features at such a great price sucker you in to buying this LEMON LINE. And SHAME ON YOU JD POWERS!! People think your ratings are unbiased and many buy based on your rec's...YET YOU WERE PAID TO RATE SAMSUNG #1!!!! WHEN IN FACT, THERE ARE MORE CONSUMER COMPLAINTS FILED AGAINST SAMSUNG THEN ANY OTHER BRAND!!!!

I have had mine for 1.5 years and it has worked flawlessly... Like one reviewer stated here, initially when I got mine the product temp (ie a glass of water) was a bit high around 40 in fridge....I measured it carefully....as it turns out the installer didnt set the bar for the freezer at 5 bars (which can affect initial cooling of refrigerator as it is not a dual compressor design). The normal setting as buried in the manual is 5 bars for freezer and 4 bars for fridge....once that was set and left alone for a couple days temps started getting nice and cold. Subsequent power loss and cooling was much faster so I would guess a break-in period of 24 hours was needed...and makes sense, the manual does state it takes at least that for initial setup. The freezer is powerful and amazing at the 5 bar setting....sub zero, with trips as low as -15F (air temp) and then of course you have your normal defrost cycles that increase that temp for a short period as high as 20+ degrees....so you have to log the temp over time to better understand the cycles when looking at the freezer temps. My refrigerator can go near 32 air temp but hovers around 36 or so...(it didnt at first). Also note that the fridge and freezer must be loaded a bit to add mass to the system.... air temp and product temps are not going to be equal...I measured water with a wireless probe inside the refrigerator part to simulate product temp.. and of course I wanted to know what the air temp was doing as well... Its been great, I make ice cream alot and I wanted a good freezer, got it and more. I accidentally left my freezer door ajar and didnt hear the alarm (my only suggestion for improvement is a louder and constant alarm) and it partially defrosted some food...closing the door and hitting power freeze mode took care of that blunder and saved the day. Hope this helps...

Want Samsung Side By Side Refrigerator model # RS261MDRS. Discount?

I have several Samsung Electronics and never had a problem until I bought this refrigerator. This fridge is awful and I wish I had a way of knowing exactly what it would be like living with it before purchasing.

Issue Number ONE: Doesnt get very cold. If I pour a glass of milk, it's not very cold like it was from my old fridge. After testing the temperature, it hovered around the 40 degree mark but wasn't consistent throughout the fridge. The freezer seems better

Issue TWO: it's very noisy. I am typically sitting at the table working and hear it more than most, but it is loud and growling much of the time. I suspect it's the icemaker or water compartment filling up, but my old fridge had the same features and never sounded so loud and gastrointestinal!

Issue three: The lighting in this fridge is awful. It does not light up all the shelves and it only lights up the top portion of the fridge. Add food the the shelves and it's actually dark in there. I hate the lighting..it's almost depressing to be honest. Most fridges now come with LED lighting, but knowing it's not as bright as incandescent should mean using more lights.. you'll see what I mean when you shop for your new fridge

Issue Three: The icemaker is not good. If you switch from crushed to cubed, it sticks on crushed and spits out shards of ice all over the place. The container for the ice is small, so if you entertain or really use a lot of ice, this isn't for you.

Issue Four: The shelves are inadequate and are hard to clean

I hope this helps

After looking at a number of brands and models of refrigerators, we settled on the Samsung RS261MD in stainless. We liked the overall look, interior arrangement, fit and finish, and the fact that the side was painted a neutral grey, rather than black (personal preference). It is also rated as very energy efficient and priced competively. We knew we were making a couple of compromises and a some other issues came up after we had it in our home. These are:

o LED lighting Energy efficient and looks cool.On a pricier Samsung model there were more lights. We found after it was fully loaded this fridge does not really have enough to fully light the interior of the fridge side as well as it should.Freezer seems better.

o Ice Maker/water Like most new refrigerators, all of the controls are contained in an electronic pad on the front of the fridge, integrated with the temperature controls.Had to read the instructions (difficult for a man) to figure everything out. We had a temporary scare with getting ice through the door, as you have to push much harder than we expected to get ice to come out, hard enough that our young kids struggle with it a little.I miss the simplicity of the manual controls we had before and hope the components hold up to the test of time. Having just a single opening for both water and ice means we have to push buttons to get water and ice, maybe a minor point, but all the button pushing will put miles on the electronics fast.

o Shelves There is only a minimal ability to set the vertical distance between shelves, something we are already seeing as an issue.Probably pretty minor, but we are having to rethink how we store things as we don't have the flexibilty to do what we want. The thin materials which make up the fixed ledges on which the shelves rest are a concern, they were slightly crushed during shipment for one set we have to use. On the upside, the icemaker arrangement leaves a nice space for large flat things like frozen pizzas, which were always a challenge before.

o Water filter The water filter is inside the refrigerator compartment and takes away some space from the lower drawer. No big deal, but every inch counts in our house.

o Labels This is a nitpick, but all the labels and tape which came attached to the inside and outside of the refrigerator left residue which was a pain to get off.The one on the outside just would not come off without scraping, something you don't really want to do on a shiny new appliance.

Right now, I say we are satisfied, but with some long-term concerns.

We purchased this FRIGIDAIRE side by side for our home and rental property, last year! We are a two person family and the rental property was an older man and women. Approximately, 9 months after purchase we noticed fractures, tiny vein like splits in the bottom of a few bins while cleaning them, on both refrig. We assumed they werenatural plastic folds and ignored them. two months ago ,one Gallon bin (# 240-324502) came crashing to the floor, when ourniece opened the refrigerator door. The bin held mustard, ketchup and assorted salad dressing bottles. The Gallon bin is rated for two gallons of milk. THIS WOULD NEVER HOLD THAT WEIGHT! The bin broke away at the hinges and the fracture finally broke the bottom out. We assumed she pulled on it and did not contact FRIGIDAIRE!Two days ago, I opened the frig door and another on came crashing to the floor, breaking glass bottle condiments onmy kitchen floor. The same breaksand fracture in the plastic were apparent. THESE BINS ARE CHEAP AND DEFECTIVE! I contacted FRIGIDAIRE and they told me its over the year warranty, SORRY; and gave me all the phone numbers, web addys, parts locations in Jacksonvilleone hour away) and info to purchase some more PLASTIC BINS! GALLONS ARE $43.58 , Smaller bins are $34.50, plus shipping and handling! When I checked our rental properties refrigerator, our tenants had one brokenbin in the garage already! All were already fractured!

I spoke with FRIGIDAIRE AGAIN! Explaining to them this is a defective plastic and needs their attention. I was told for a service fee of aprox $125.00, they would send out a rep to view the plastic bins for defects. But only then would it be noted that they were defective and it was their opinion that had the last word.

Who thought that game up over there at FRIGIDAIRE?? Make the customer pay out of pocket $125.00 bucks for a FRIGIDAIRE REP to tell you what you already know they will say.." Sorry, they are not defective", and be out $125.00 and still have no bins to hang on your refrigerator door inside this big stainless steal over priced chill box?? Are they that cruel and uncaring?

That deal already sounds BIAS and being out $125.00 is not fair game. So, all in all this is my OPINION:

They make money off these broken bins! BIG BUCKS!They want them to break away and make you think its your fault! Your kids are pulling on them, you are chilling 50lb weights in the bins, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM HERE, not FRIGIDAIRE!!

It the lowest of lowest scams. FRIGIDAIRE Produces cheap break away plasticbins that can't hold a bag of marshmellows, yet rate them for two gallons of milk, and keep the customer re-purchasing their parts. I'd be ashamed to be the engineer who rated these! It was probably a monkey with some building blocks and a banana reward system, named BOBO the chimp!

FRIGIDAIRE is not true to its customers. FRIGIDAIRE is GUILTY of producing Cheap bins for a high grade expensiverefrigerator and refuse to do anything about it! "FRIGIDAIRE" SHAME ON YOU!!!

We will never purchase, FRIGIDARE APPLIANCES again! WE WILL PASS THE WORD ABOUT THEIR CHEAP BINS, RE: FB,MS, Quepasa,Blogs,Tweets,Emails, letters and web!Just like the their overwhelming many "Frigidaire parts" sites! I adore the internet for this, getting it out there for as many people to see as possible! We pray this stopped someone from making this mistake and purchasing from a BIG company who found away to never stand behind their product! Unless, you want to pay for a FRIGIDAIRE REPRESENTATIVE to say it to your face? It can be arranged.

My Frigidaire Model Number FRS6LF7JS0 uses two of this type of bin, both are on the two lower-most door bins. One of our bins broke off, the lower-most door bin after 46 months of solid use. It gave out without warning, but if you look at the plastic it is molded from, one can see that it can crack suddenly if taken to it's threshold. We would place all sorts of condiment jars, juice bottles, 2 liter soda bottles. It held a good amount of weight for it's size, it just gave out. I rate this bin 4 out of 5 stars because they could have made it out of a more rubber-like plastic, something that would not be as fragile or sudden to break under normal wear and tear. I inspected the remaining same-part-number bin above this and found some crazing on one side, where the plastic bin hooks onto the inner door liner. I would expect this other bin to give out soon as well. NOTE: The FRIGIDAIRE REFRIGERATOR DOOR BIN P/N 240323002 goes on the two lower-most door shelf spaces on my model FRS6LF7JS0. The actual P/N that you will find on the part is 240323000, but for some reason, the catalogue will list the part as 240323002. It is the correct part for this fridge!

The bin itself is fine, and the price is reasonabe. Seller shipped quickly and appropriately packaged. Arrived without incident. Only problem is that it is hard to tell from the picture which of the four different types of door bins used by my Frigidaire refrigerator this is.This is the UPPER refrigerator door bin, not the Lower one. It cannot be used in several of the positions on the right hand door, nor can it be used in the freezer. This is a design flaw in the refrigerator, and a problem with the documentation of the unit, (the parts section of the user guide does not identify these as different parts) and no fault of the seller.

The shelf in my fridge broke. With a little effort I determined exactly the correct replacement part this smaller lower shelf.(A call to the Frigidaire rep helped. She was very precise in her question to be sure I was buying the correct replacement. There are two sizes of shelf in the right door.Upper shelves are larger, deeper with four plastic walls; lower shelves are more shallow with three plastic walls.)I think this product is a little overpriced for what it is -a plastic shelf.I also find that it breaks too easily during normal use (opening and closing the door with food or bottles occasionally falling over).I am very pleased with how well it fits.Make the effort to determine the right part and it will fit exactly in place.

My wife and I purchased a Frigidaire Refrigerator 2 years ago, and recently had 3 of the 4 shelves crack. These new shelves are no different than the factory ones, so we don't expect these to last too long either. They do the job for a while, but don't expect them to last forever.

Flexible Crevice Tool for all Vacuum Hoses

Flexible Crevice Tool for all Vacuum Hoses
  • 24" Long
  • Flexible, bends up to 180 degrees
  • Allows cleaning in hard to reach areas
  • Great for dryer vents, heating ducts, along side the refrigerator
  • Fits all vacuums accepting 1 1/4" inner diameter attachments

This thing is two piecesone end is the hard plastic end which attaches to the second end which is the flexible hose. The hard end has an inlet and that inlet is so small that it impedes substantial airflow to your vacuum. Moreover, even small objects cannot pass through this opening and it will clog up the inlet in no time.

This will cause your motors to overwork and fail prematurely. When you vacuum, it's like you're trying to vacuum with a sock stuffed in the hoses.I'm using that example so show how much less air will move through it.Moreover, you'll hear your motor scream. The inlet needs to be designed so that its opening is larger to prevent overly restrictive airflow.

You are warned.

While its not the most ergonomic device, the tool does allow you to get into areas a normal crevice tool will not. Great while it lasted. It is a 2 piece construction, consisting of a hard plastic vacuum hose connector and a flexible extension.Unfortunately, the hard plastic piece gets stressed when you bend the flexible portion. The end of the hard plastic connector that connects to the flexible extension broke off after less than 2 months of normal use.

The Item description says "Flexible Crevice tool for ALL vacuum hoses" not true it was too small to fit my vacuum.Come to find out it is a "1.25" I assume that is 1.25" diameter measurement. This item probably works fine but I will never know because it is not for "ALL" vacuums.Check your hose diameter before buying.

The only caution is to measure your current hose to see if this tool will fit as it is very small. It did not fit my Miele vacuum, but fit my Shop-Vac.It does work well.Because the crevice tool is a firm but flexible plastic, it does not collapse with suction as I read happens with other similar devices.I was able to maneuver it into the lint trap and suction out the lint.Sometimes I had to bend the crevice tool into sort of a J-shape near the end so it would reach awkward areas, and it would hold that shape long enough so I could clean an area.Since I don't anticipate using this more than every few months, the bother of bringing the Shop-Vac into the house and fussing with the dryer lint cleaning is acceptable.Every dryer has a different lint trap configuration, so there is probably no "one size fits all" when it comes to a dryer cleaning extension. This is not quite everything I would like it to be, but it is good enough to give it 4 stars.Just be sure to measure well before you order.

Does not fit Miele canister vacuum. However I was able to use it for what I needed.

We purchase a Samsung Refirigerator/freezer from Sears. It came with a 1 year warranty. I found out Square Trade was a fraction of the cost Sears charged for extended warranties, so I bought a 5 years extended warranty. As luck would have it, we encountered a problem about 10 months after we bought the unit. It was minor, but 1st, Sears said it wasn't covered, then told us to fix it ourselves. Finally they sent a tech out, who said he didn't have a clue. Afterthe Square Trade warranty kicked in, we called about water in the crisper drawer. The tech they chose came out, fixed the 1st problem Sears didn't have clue about, then replaced a defroster panel. The fix seemed to work for about 2 weeks, then came back. The service tech refused to come back, so we called Square Trade. a different service tech came out, replaced the same panel and made a few modifications. This lasted a week. Again, once paid they did not want to come back. We finally called Samsung and arranged for a factory tech to service the unit. A called to Square Trade ensuered us they would fully cover the repair. The factory tech installed a $2 part that fixed everything. A call to Square Trade and an email with the receipt attached got a check mailed to us in 24 hours for the full amount. You can't do much better than that! I would recommend Square Trade to all my friends. I've placed claims on several items from eBay with good results, even used items. It's a small price to pay for worry free purchases.

I purchased the beverage center Aug 2011, beautiful product.Broke this July and it has been a nightmare to get replaced since they were not able to fix it (3 visits from the repair company).Everyone at Danby was soooooo nice, but totally useless. It is now the end of Oct...and no replacement. When I called Danby today 10/30/12 I was told that I didnt send them the physical serial #, which I was NEVER told to do back on 10/2/12.I was told the replacement was being shipped and to call them when I received it to discuss warranty on the new item.Today I was hung up on by Maria Pineda, the Danby Manager of Customer Service because I was upset that this was going on for so long...really??Thats how they handle an upset customer?! Please google the company and products reviews before purchasing a Danby product.

Purchased this beverage center 4 years ago.I love this little refrigerator, you can store beverages in one side and your wine in the other and there are dual controls for each side with a beautiful blue light when you open the refrigerator. The only problems is that it lasted a mere 4 years before dying.Repairman says it was made in China and the wires are opposite of what is normal in the US making it tricky to diagnose and repair.Turns out is needs a new master board which runs somewhere in the $500+ range because it is not a stocked item anywhere so it has to be special ordered.Cheaper just to buy a new one, unfortunately.

Overall this little cooler does a great job. Read some of the other reviews and wonder if I happen to get the best from the bunch.

Works real well till the grand kids come over and think its great to have unlimited access to soda pop. Trick like any refrigerator keep the doors closed and it maintains the wine at the right temperatures. The beverage side will cool energy drinks, sodas and gatorade cold enough to enjoy right out of the can. Unit was build into a cabinet we made sure to leave space behind the unit to allow for air to circulate. Have had it for a couple of years and it runs like a champ.

We bought this cooler new and have had multiple problems ever since.First of all, the cooler looks cool, with its blue light, but that is the only feature that we like.Although it is still on warranty, we have spent MONTHS attempting to get it repaired. The repairman advised us that this model is made in China and he was unable to fix it because of what he maintained is an engineering issue. He was very competent and familiar with the unit, but still was unable to fix it.The cooler has two sides that have independent/dual temperature controls.Although it is supposed to cool down to 39 degrees, it only dips down to the 50's.Both sides fluculate wildly. This was money down the drain. The repairman picked it up twice and kept it for almost a month each time trying to fix it. He replaced the board and when it returned the light didn't work.He took it back because the temperature only work properly for days.He returned and watched it and admitted that it can't hold the correct temperature. He left it here and related that he would contact Danby for assistance because he can't disgnosis it. Even the repairman maintained that he could not get any answers from the Danby service experts. The bottom line is that the unit is only useful as an anchor or something that looks nice, but doesn't work. After the warranty is over, we will just have to pitch it out and purchase a more reliable make/model.PLEASE, SAVE YOURSELF AGGRAVATION AND DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT!

This is the third countertop wine refrigerator I have purchased. They never seem to last long, but I am hopeful for this one.It cooled quickly, runs very quietly, and does not seem to cycle on all that frequently. In the long run I just hope it lasts, then I will be 100% happy, as it looks great and matches my kitchen decor perfectly. For now, as good as it gets!

I have been using the Frigidaire 8 Bottle Wine Cooler for several years now and it has been great for my needs. I am a frequent wine purchaser but usually have no more than 1 or 2 bottles on me at once.

I have had no problems with the product other than the temperature will on rare occasion reset (but this may have been caused by power outages or blips... I am unsure). The unit is easy to adjust and also accommodates larger-than-usual bottle sizes if you slant them a bit. Great for casual wine lovers!

The first one of these we bought died after a few months, which, from reading reviews, seems to be a common failing among these coolers. The seller replaced it and the second one kept going. It is fairly quiet. However, it has now been a year or two, and the unit does not want to go below 56 degrees, no matter how much we punch the "lower temperature" button. This too seems a common failing among wine coolers. Also, the cooler will not accommodate the taller wine bottles, such as you find with Alsatian whites.

I purchased this on Amazon through Global Bargain as a Christmas present. The wine cooler was obviously previously opened as there is tape over all the seams. Insider there was no packing material and the corner braces were off on two sides. It was packed in the original box and shipped without being put in another outer box. Of course, it arrived damaged! What are they thinking? The cooler itself looks great and I love the fact that it cools down to 46 degrees. I am returning it and buying this exact same Frigidare 8 bottle wine cooler at Best Buy where I can pick it up myself and where it is $30 cheaper! My advise is to not buy anything from Global Bargains!

Haier Beverage Center- Black

  • Work Top; 3 Full Width Black Vinyl Coated Wire Shelves
  • Recessed Handle; Adjustable Thermostat; Reversible Door; Auto-Defrost; Removable Lower Bottle Rack
  • Flat Back; Adjustable Leveling Legs

this product never worked.I bought it, plugged it in, it tried to go, and it conked out.In addition to not working, there is NO WAY 17 bottles will fit.My roommate and I spent 15 minutes trying all different configurations, and the max we could get in was 14 and that was a bit scary. The bottom section (where the cans are shown) isn't deep enough for wine to go straight back, and will only fit 2-3 (3 very shaky) bottles sideways on each.

This unit is ok for keeping items cool. Unit has a maxiumum cooling temperature of 45*F, because it is not a refrigerator. It does serve the purpose, as long as you are not looking for near freezing beverages.
