When the ice maker on our refrigerator died, it happpened suddenly without warning, one day ice and the next none.I researched the replacement icemaker as recommended by the GE (manufacturer of the frig), the unit indicated less cubes (7 instead of 8), possible mounting modifications and a jumper harness required (and supplied) to install.After finding the SUPCO RIM300, I found it to be virtually an exact replacement, no modifications required, installed in less than 15 minutes, no harness to try to hide and we had a tub full of ice in 48 hours.It looks original and I think it makes ice faster.

The installation is very easy.If you are replacing an existing unit, just two screws to remove the old unit out and install the new one in.Watch the connector, it plugs just one way in, there is some kind of notch or guide.

But instructions with the unit are very poor.It doesn't mention that one of the cables to plug have some kind of temperature sensor that needs to fit into a clip on the undersideof the unit.

Without that part fitted there, the unit may not work.!!!!!!!!!!

And again the instructions didn't cover that.

On the other hand, one good thing, you can adjust the amount of water that goes in to make the ice cubes.

It came with all the parts needed, including a mounting plate that helps fit the unit to older refrigerators where the mounting screws maybe at a different location.

I installed it and it did not work.I figured out that the ice tray full detector was not installed correctly.Fixed and still did not work.I then unplugged it and put the detector int he full down position and plugged it in.Then it started working.Has produced a ton of ice so a good replacement. 4 stars because instructions did save me from troubleshooting.

Good price, but that is all,usually a short life, but it is the most for the least. Not interested in the 20 word rule.Works goodl, and makes a lot of ice. I have installed 3, and they do turn out the ice.
