The primary reason I bought this item from this vendor was that was advertised as a Whirlpool part SEVEN times in the ad:"Whirlpool 2198282 Thermostat for Refrigerator by Whirlpool", repeated this two more times, and then said "Genuine Whirlpool Replacement Part".

In fact, the package in which it came says, "ERP exact replacement parts, ER 2198282 Cold Control".

My refrigerator was 48 degrees, I had to do something, so I carefully installed this ERP part following a step by step video found elsewhere on the net.I set the control on 3, the mid way point and was pleased that it cooled quickly.

BUT, it went down, down to below 32 degrees.So, I turned the control down ... down ... down.The control is now at its warmest setting, 1, and the temp still remains at 32 or colder (this over a couple of days).

I'm going to try to get my money back from Amazon.BEWARE.
